00:49We are going to meet seven times Red Bull cliff diving champion,
00:53Rhianna Nifflin.

01:00Cliff diving, quite an extreme sport, isn't it?
01:14How do you go from diving off the three-metre at home
01:17into the swimming pool, you know, to 30 metres?
01:21It definitely takes time.
01:23I began in the pool, one-metre, three-metre, ten-metre competing,
01:28and then, yeah, I gradually moved my way up.
01:30I went into entertainment diving,
01:31and then I saw the world of Red Bull cliff diving,
01:34and I said, I want to be there.
01:35Do you know how fast you're going
01:37by the time you get to the water?
01:39Because 30 metres, you'd pick up some speed, wouldn't you?
01:42Yeah, I believe it's about 70 to 75 k's an hour.
01:45Oh, my.
01:46So when you hit water at that speed,
01:49it doesn't necessarily feel like water, right?
01:51If you get it perfect, maybe.
01:53But otherwise, I feel like when you hit it that speed,
01:55it's like concrete.
01:56You hit the water pretty quick,
01:57and if it goes wrong, it can go very wrong.
02:00Like, there's no denying that,
02:01but I think as a diver, like,
02:04you understand that,
02:06and you do everything you can for it to not happen.
02:08Describe for us the moment when you get it right,
02:11that elation when you come back to the surface
02:13and you go, I've got this.
02:15Because when you're standing on the platform
02:16and you're about to take that leap,
02:19there's so much going on like you.
02:21There's so much energy running through your body,
02:23like adrenaline, fear, emotion, focus.
02:29And then you hit the water and everything goes silent,
02:31and then you pop your head out of the water,
02:32and, you know, it's such a cool feeling.
02:35I can't explain it.
02:36I guess what I can say is doing a good dive
02:38makes you want to go up and do it again.
02:40The adrenaline.
02:41Yeah.
02:45I look at what you do,
02:47and there is no way you would ever catch me
02:49near a six-storey building and jumping off that.
02:52Like, in no way.
02:53Seven times world champion, guys.
02:55That is, like, it's an extraordinary feat.
02:59And you're still doing it.
03:00You're still obviously enthusiastic about it.
03:02You conquer that fear,
03:03and you still keep going.
03:05It's remarkable.
03:06Yeah, that's it.
03:07I think, you know, conquering those fears
03:09and doing things under pressure,
03:11I'm sure you can relate to it.
03:13Like, it just makes you feel alive,
03:14and it makes you just want to continue doing it.
03:18At the moment, I just feel like it's such a privilege
03:20to have the opportunity to make a living
03:23out of doing something that I love.
03:25I can't see myself hanging up my swimsuit any time soon.
03:27I can relate.
03:28I'm like, no, I'm surfing till the day I die.
03:30Rob also dabbled in a bit of diving when he was younger.
03:34Oh, Rob, that was terrible.
03:38He wants so much more work to do.
03:40And I could tell he wasn't too happy
03:42with Rhiannon stealing all the attention.
03:45Like, I used to dive a bit when I was younger.
03:48Yeah.
03:48You know, there were a lot of people that did say
03:49that I should go and do it professionally.
03:52I didn't, but, you know,
03:55that was the opinion of a lot of people.
03:56They just thought, you're somewhat of a natural.
03:58I don't want to let it go.
04:00If we could go up the pool,
04:01maybe I'll show you a couple of things
04:02that I've been working on.
04:04Like, just to share information with each other,
04:06you know, share tips.
04:07Yeah, 100%.
04:08And techniques.
04:09Yeah, let's do it.

04:14I'm curious to see some of this.
04:16So have you actually had a look down from 27 metres, though?
04:19Well, when I was younger,
04:21I used to work on rooftops quite a lot.
04:23Okay.
04:23And waterproofing and stuff like that.
04:25And I would look over the edge, doing edge details.
04:27And you would often look over the edge.
04:29Sometimes you'd spit off the edge.
04:30All right.
04:32So what do you say I give you a couple of diving tips?
04:36Yeah.
04:36You've got to show me what's already in your repertoire.
04:39It's quite extensive.
04:40We can start with a simple jump if you want.
04:42Yeah.
04:43Simple back jump.
04:44Back jump.
04:45Yeah.
04:45So in diving, technically, without a flip first.
04:49You want to just make sure you're jumping backwards
04:51before you go for the flip.

08:20Fiji has got to be one of the greatest places in the world
08:22for water sports and action and adventure,
08:25and we're going to have it all.
08:26People here are the most beautiful people in the world.
08:28They touch you with their kindness.
08:30I'm blown away.
08:31I mean, I've been to Fiji a lot of times in the past to surf,
08:34and I absolutely love it here,
08:35but Lamarney is absolutely beautiful.
08:37I mean, you can see it behind me.
08:38There's not a breath of wind.
08:40Everyone in Fiji is so beautiful.
08:43They're so welcoming.
08:44And, I mean, tonight the sunset was amazing.
08:47Got to share a couple of drinks with, you know, the other hosts.
08:50And to be here with my best friends,

08:55I mean, we're going to have so much fun this week.
09:05It is an absolute water playground here.
09:07We are looking for the best times with all the water activities
09:10that Fiji has to offer, and I can't wait to rip in.
09:14I forgot how good the world is, to be honest.

09:19and it's like this aquatic playground where anything's possible.
09:22It's kind of limitless.
09:24You've got this wonderful mix of everything you can do with the water,
09:27but there's the cultural aspect of it as well.
09:29You know, the people are beautiful.
09:30They're so full of love and welcoming,
09:32and they're just so proud of their place that they call home.
09:35Fiji is just magical.
09:37I'm so excited to be finally with the whole team in Fiji time.
09:42Here we are right now in the most beautiful place.
09:44I mean, listening to the music in the background,
09:48looking at the amazing sunsets.
09:50It's just all the ingredients for a perfect recipe
09:52to have the most amazing adventure.
09:54I mean, this place, wherever you look,
09:56is something really magical,
09:58almost really hard to comprehend,
10:00but really easy to fall in love with there.
10:01I love Fiji.
10:03I have had so many great trips here,
10:05and I'm very excited about this week.
10:08I've got to tell you,
10:09it's been a while since I've been away with Miguel.
10:13Initially, everything came flooding back to me, right?
10:19But after a day, his infectious character
10:23and the whole vibe of the bloke just really lifts it.
10:27For Flick and for Grant and for Rob,
10:30you know, like they bring the party,
10:33and it's a lot of fun.
10:35It's going to be hard to sort of stick your head up
10:38above the crowd with this crew
10:39because they go Mark 10.
10:42After a few too many Mai Tais,
11:02Felicity was soon swept away
11:04by the beat of the Fijian drums.
11:06And, of course, it wasn't too long
11:23before Rob also joined in on the act,
11:26before things went horribly wrong.
11:37Now, I can stand here and bang on
11:58about correct paddling technique,
11:59but sometimes the best way to pick something up
12:02is just to see it done properly.

12:29I'm so excited to be here at Plantation Island.
12:35It's absolutely beautiful.
12:36This morning, we're heading over to Tavarula Island,
12:39which is one of my favourite places in the world
12:41because it's so close to cloud break.
12:42I think I'm going to have my hands full,
12:44but let's see if I can show these blokes
12:46a thing or two about surf.
12:47I'm watching the surf, Miguel.
13:04Oh, channel, channel!
13:06Out of all the places in the world,
13:17one of the most exclusive surf resorts
13:20that you can stay at.
13:21And its proximity to cloud break
13:23is what makes it so special.
13:24It's literally just a short boat ride
13:26around the corner.
13:27What side of the island are you normally surfing?
13:29Cloud break's on the other side of the island
13:30and that holds anywhere from
13:32two to three foot to 20 to 30 foot.
13:35I reckon there's a few little waves
13:36that we can take advantage of.
13:37Who wants to get amongst it?
13:39Let's roll!
13:40Yes, go ahead!
13:41Vamos!
13:44Guys, Stu!

13:46Oh, I wouldn't have been a hug for you!

13:49Good, Danny!
13:50To big wave surfing
13:52or surfing any sort of waves of consequence,
13:54we'd be the jet skiing driver.
13:56Safety is the most important thing.
13:58Not only is Stu putting you on the waves,
14:00but he's also rescuing at times.
14:03Yeah.
14:03So my job isn't just to look good
14:05on the jet ski and the channel.
14:07That's 80%.
14:08The job is really to be there
14:10when stuff hits the fan.
14:12You know, when things go wrong
14:13or when things are inevitably going to happen,
14:16which is a surfer goes down
14:17in a heavy situation.
14:20Jet ski drivers got to rip in
14:21before that next big wave hits them,
14:24pick them up, reach out that hand,
14:26rip them up onto the sled
14:28and get them out of harm to a...
14:29You've got to be selfless too, though, yeah?
14:31Like, put yourself at risk to save others.
14:33It's exhilarating to do a rescue.
14:34You want it.
14:35You know, you have to commit.
14:37How many seconds is that on average?
14:39Like, you don't have a lot of time.
14:41It's really key that you get in there quickly.
14:43You'll see it when somebody falls on a big wave
14:45here at Cloud Break
14:46or big waves around the world.
14:48They'll travel 100 meters underwater
14:50in about five, six seconds.
14:52Wow.
14:53Yeah.
14:53And struggling to come up.
14:55Without having, like, a skilled pilot,
14:57I mean, you're nothing, really.
14:59I mean, even when it comes to toe surfing, right?
15:01Obviously, the surfer on the wave does the work,
15:04but it's all up to the jet ski driver
15:06to really position you in the perfect spot.
15:08So when you let go of the rope,
15:09you're in the perfect position
15:10to get the best wave of your life.
15:12So our job is we're actually helping the surfers
15:16when they know they have that confidence
15:17of us watching out for them on the side.
15:19It adds that extra level of comfort,
15:22brings their heart rate down even more.
15:24They know they got somebody watching out for them
15:25when they hit.
15:27So, I mean, I guess in the kitchen,
15:28your head chef and the sous chef,
15:30they got each other's back.
15:31Is that, like, the same relationship here?
15:32Really, you know, it's complete trust in the driver
15:36and their rate on the line-up,
15:37their awareness, their preparation.
15:39And it's almost like, I don't know,
15:40brotherhood or a sisterhood,
15:41and you really feel that camaraderie
15:43within the big wave world.
15:44So it's more of an intimate relationship
15:46because your life is essentially in their hands,
15:49you know it.
15:49So, we're going to head out,

19:45I caught one and went down it and then got to the bottom and it just sucked me up, I missed the bottom turn, it sucked me up, threw me over the falls and just like, just bang, I was like, fuck out.

19:57It doesn't look as heavy as it is, like they're small waves by flick standards, but by my standards, it was heavy when it hit you.
