00:00This is what the minimum wage is around the world. So in the United States, it's $7.25,
00:04though in many states like California, New York, and Washington, you'll typically see north of $15,
00:08with Seattle specifically placing it at $19, which puts it at the top of the developed world.
00:13Notably for service workers who rely on tips, though, the minimum is $2.13 per hour,
00:17which hasn't been changed since 1991. Outside of the USA, $7.25, Australia is double of that at $16,
00:22with Luxembourg, Netherlands, Germany, Ireland, and New Zealand right behind it.
00:26The United Kingdom is at $11.50, and Canada is at $11.00. China is around $3, Brazil is $2.50,
00:31Mexico is $1.50 per hour, and India is around $0.50. Lower than this, though, is Nigeria at about
00:36$0.30 per hour, and some countries like Ethiopia have no national minimum wage. And while that's
00:40low, certain African countries like the Central African Republic and South Sudan clock in average
00:45hourly wages of about $0.25 per hour, and Burundi, which has an average wage of about $0.13 per hour.
00:50But by far the lowest in the world is actually Venezuela, which, because of its hyperinflation,
00:54has seen average wages turn out to be approximately $0.02 per hour. That's crazy.
