00:00Hello everyone, welcome back to Victor Explains.
00:13In this video, I'll show you how to back up Windows 11, 10, 8 and 7 to an external hard drive, step by step.
00:20Let's get started.
00:21First, go to the Windows search bar, type Control Panel and open it.
00:29Once the Control Panel opens, change View by to large icons or small icons.
00:38Now look for Backup and Restore, and click on it.
00:44Next, click on Setup Backup.
00:47Wait a few seconds, and now plug in your external hard drive.
00:55After that, click Refresh so the drive shows up.
00:58When you see your external hard drive, select it and click Next.
01:05Now you'll see two options.
01:07You can choose Let Windows Choose.
01:09This option includes a system image, which is very useful because it can restore your entire PC if Windows ever stops working.
01:16Or, you can select Let me choose if you want to backup only specific files and folders.
01:21I will select the first option and click on Next.
01:24You'll also see a Schedule option.
01:26This allows Windows to backup your files automatically.
01:30Just remember, your computer must be turned on and the external drive must be connected for scheduled backups to work.
01:37For me, I'll turn the schedule off, and then click Save Settings and Start Backup.
01:42The first backup may take some time, depending on how much data you have.
01:47Just let it run until the process finishes.
01:49And that's it!
