00:44We are going to meet seven times Red Bull cliff diving champion, Rihanna Nifflin.

01:00Cliff diving, quite an extreme sport, isn't it?
01:09How do you go from diving off the three metre at home into the swimming pool, you know, to 30 metres?
01:16It definitely takes time. I began in the pool, 1 metre, 3 metre, 10 metre competing and then, yeah, I gradually moved my way up.
01:25I went into entertainment diving and then I saw the world of Red Bull cliff diving and I said I want to be there.
01:30Do you know how fast you're going by the time you get to the water? Because 30 metres, you'd pick up some speed, wouldn't you?
01:37Yeah, I believe it's about 70 to 75 k's an hour.
01:41Oh my. So when you hit water at that speed, it doesn't necessarily feel like water, right?
01:46If you get it perfect, maybe. But otherwise I feel like when you hit it at that speed, it's like concrete.
01:51You hit the water pretty quick and if it goes wrong, it can go very wrong.
01:55Like, there's no denying that, but I think as a diver, like, you understand that and you do everything you can for it to not happen.
02:03Describe for us the moment when you get it right, that elation when you come back to the surface and you go, I've got this.
02:10Because when you're standing on the platform and you're about to take that leap, there's so much going on like you.
02:16There's so much energy running through your body like adrenaline, fear, emotion, focus.
02:24And then you hit the water and everything goes silent and then you pop your head out of the water and, you know, it's such a cool feeling, I can't explain it.
02:31I guess, I guess what I can say is doing a good dive makes you want to go up and do it again.
02:35The adrenaline.
02:36Yeah.
02:41I look at what you do and there is no way you would ever catch me near a six storey building and jumping off that.
02:46Like, in no way.
02:48Seven times world champion, guys.
02:50That is, like, it's an extraordinary feat.
02:54And you're still doing it.
02:55You're still obviously enthusiastic about it.
02:57You conquer that fear and you still keep going.
03:00It's remarkable.
03:01Yeah, that's it.
03:02I think, you know, conquering those fears and doing things under pressure, I'm sure you can relate to it.
03:08Like, it just makes you feel alive and it makes you just want to continue doing it.
03:13At the moment, I just feel like such a privilege to have the opportunity to make a living out of doing something that I love.
03:20I can't see myself hanging up my swimsuit any time soon.
03:22I can relate.
03:23I'm like, no, I'm surfing till the day I die.
03:26Rob also dabbled in a bit of diving when he was younger.
03:29Oh, Rob, that was terrible.
03:33We've got so much more work to do.
03:35And I could tell he wasn't too happy with Rhiannon stealing all the attention.
03:40Like, I used to dive a bit when I was younger.
03:43Yeah.
03:44You know, there were a lot of people that did say that I should go and do it professionally.
03:47I didn't.
03:48But, you know, that was the opinion of a lot of people.
03:51They just thought, you're somewhat of a natural.
03:54I don't want to let it go.
03:55If we could go up the pool, maybe I'll show you a couple of things that I've been working on.
03:59Like, just to share information with each other, you know, share tips.

04:03And techniques.

04:11So, have you actually had a look down from 27 metres, though?
04:14Well, when I was younger, I used to work on rooftops quite a lot.

04:19And waterproofing and stuff like that.
04:20And I would look over the edge, doing edge details.
04:22And you would often look over the edge.
04:24Sometimes you'd spit off the edge.

04:27So, what do you say?
04:28I'll give you a couple of diving tips.

04:32You've got to show me what's already in your repertoire.
04:34It's quite extensive.
04:35We can start with a simple jump, if you want.

04:41So, in diving, technically, without a flip first.
04:44You want to just make sure you're jumping backwards before you go for the flip.

06:53So, we decided it might be a good idea to enter him into the Red Bull cliff diving competition.

08:27I mean, I've been to Fiji a lot of times in the past to surf, and I absolutely love it here.
08:31But Lamani is absolutely beautiful.
08:32I mean, you can see it behind me.
08:34There's not a breath of wind.
08:35Everyone in Fiji is so beautiful.
08:37They're so welcoming.
08:38And, I mean, tonight the sunset was amazing.
08:41Got to share a couple of drinks with, you know, the other hosts.
08:44And to be here with my best friends, really, mate.
08:50I mean, we're going to have so much fun this week.
09:00It is an absolute water playground here.
09:02We are looking for the best times with all the water activities that Fiji has to offer.

09:14And it's like this aquatic playground where anything's possible.
09:17It's kind of limitless.
09:18You've got this wonderful mix of everything you can do with the water, but there's the cultural aspect of it as well.
09:23You know, the people are beautiful.
09:25They're so full of love and welcoming, and they're just so proud of their place that they call home.
09:30Fiji is just magical.
09:32I'm so excited to be finally with the whole team in Fiji time.
09:37Here we are right now, in the most beautiful place.
09:39I mean, listening to the music in the background, looking at the amazing sunsets.
09:45It's just all the ingredients for a perfect recipe to have the most amazing adventure.
09:49I mean, this place, wherever you look, it's something really magical.
09:52Almost really hard to comprehend, but really easy to fall in love with it.
09:57I love Fiji.
09:58I have had so many great trips here, and I'm very excited about this week.
10:03I've got to tell you, it's been a while since I've been away with Miguel.
10:06Initially, everything came flooding back to me, right?
10:14But after a day, his infectious character and the whole vibe of the bloke just really lifts it.
10:22For Flick, and for Grant, and for Rob, you know, like, they bring the party, and it's a lot of fun.
10:30It's going to be hard to sort of stick your head up above the crowd with this crew,
10:34because they go mark ten.
10:38After a few too many Mai Tais, Felicity was soon swept away by the beat of the Fijian drums.
11:02And, of course, it wasn't too long before Rob also joined in on the act.

11:32Now, I can stand here and bang on about correct paddling technique, but sometimes the best way to pick something up is just to see it done properly.

12:32This morning, we're heading over to Tavarula Island, which is one of my favourite places in the world because it's so close to cloud break.
12:37I think I'm going to have my hands full, but let's see if I can show these blokes a thing or two about surf.
12:42I'm watching the surf, Miguel.
13:00Oh, journal, journal, journal!
13:10At all the places in the world, one of the most exclusive surf resorts that you can stay at and its proximity to cloud break is what makes it so special.
13:19It's literally just a short boat ride around the corner.
13:21What side of the island are you normally surfing?
13:23Plough breaks on the other side of the island and that holds anywhere from 2 to 3 foot to 20 to 30 foot.
13:29I reckon there's a few little waves that we can take advantage of.
13:33Who wants to get amongst it?
13:35Let's roll!
13:37Guys, this is Stu!
13:41Oh, I wouldn't have been a hug for you!
13:45If it comes to big wave surfing or surfing any sort of waves of consequence, we'd be the jet ski driver. Safety is the most important thing.
13:53Not only is Stu putting you on the waves, but he's also rescuing at times.
13:58Yeah.
13:59So my job isn't just to look good on the jet ski and the channel.
14:01That's 80%.
14:03The job is really to be there when stuff hits the fan.
14:07You know, when things go wrong or when things are inevitably going to happen, which is a surfer goes down in a heavy situation.
14:14Jet ski drivers got to rip in before that next big wave hits them.
14:19Pick them up, reach out that hand, rip them up onto the sled and get them out of harm's way.
14:24You've got to be selfless too though, yeah?
14:26Like, put yourself at risk to save others.
14:28It's exhilarating to do a rescue.
14:30You want it.
14:31You know, you have to commit.
14:32How many seconds is that on average?
14:34Like, you don't have a lot of time.
14:36It's really key that you get in there quickly.
14:38You'll see it when somebody falls on a big wave here at Cloudbreak or big waves around the world.
14:43They'll travel a hundred meters underwater in about five, six seconds.
14:48Yeah.
14:49And struggling to come up.
14:50Without having like a skilled pilot, I mean, you're nothing really.
14:54I mean, even when it comes to toe surfing, right?
14:56Obviously the surfer on the wave does the work, but it's all up to the jet ski driver to really position you in the perfect spot.
15:02So when you let go of the rope, you're in the perfect position to get the best height of your life.
15:07So our job is we're actually helping the surfers when they know they have that confidence of us watching out for them on the side.
15:14It adds that extra level of comfort, brings their heart rate down even more.
15:18They know they got somebody watching out for them when they hit.
15:21So I mean, I guess in the kitchen your head chef and the sous chef, they got each other's back.
15:26Is that like the same relationship here?
15:28Really, you know, it's complete trust in the driver and their rate on the line up, their awareness, their preparation.
15:34And it's almost like, I don't know, brotherhood or a sisterhood.
15:36And you really feel that camaraderie within the big wave world.
15:39So it's more of an intimate relationship because your life is essentially in their hands, you know.
15:44So, we're gonna head out.

25:39And for us at Top Notes, it's so exciting to take over this kitchen, just for a little bit.

25:50Normally, we put too many toppings in the kitchen if you want to do a pizza, but the secret of
25:57a nice pizza is have a lovely bread crust with lots of tomato sauce and just enough toppings
