Stars Who Can't Stand Carrie Underwood
Transcript
00:00Country music star Carrie Underwood has proven time and again that she's a bombshell who
00:05slays at everything she does.
00:07She's a singer, first and foremost, made famous by her 2005 American Idol victory, but she's
00:12also a producer, actor, and author.
00:15Her book, Find Your Path, has made her a New York Times bestselling author thanks to its
00:20body-positive approach to getting strong and healthy.
00:23Also, she offers workout programs for her fans.
00:26But being a public figure means Underwood also deals with negativity, and unfortunately,
00:31the star has allegedly had a few feuds with fellow celebrities.
00:35Here's a rundown of the drama.
00:37Underwood dated NFL player Tony Romo for a brief time back in 2007, so when her song Cowboy
00:43Casanova came out, audiences were curious if the tune was secretly for Romo.
00:48But in a 2009 interview with Esquire, Underwood was clear that her track was not for Romo,
00:53saying,
00:54Never immortalize a guy that did me wrong.
00:56I would never give him that much credit."
00:59Following their split, Romo began dating Jessica Simpson, so things got a bit heated when Underwood
01:04claimed in the September 2008 issue of Allure that Romo called her a few times post-split.
01:10Underwood said,
01:11I don't know, the phone will ring and it'll be him, and I'll maybe not answer.
01:15However, Simpson spoke up and denied Underwood's claim that Romo was calling his ex.
01:21She said on the Nashville radio show The Woody and Jim Show,
01:24Tony and I both laughed at that.
01:26Yeah, we got a chuckle out of it.
01:27Simpson added that she checked Romo's call log on his phone, but quickly added,
01:32I'm kidding, I'm not that girl.
01:34In 2009, Underwood and Brad Paisley joined forces at the CMA Awards to take a jab at Kanye
01:40West, who had interrupted Taylor Swift's acceptance speech at the MTV VMAs earlier that year.
01:46Underwood and Paisley played off the famous country song, Mamas Don't Let Your Babies
01:50Grow Up To Be Cowboys, and instead sang Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Kanye.
01:56Then, in 2011, Underwood joined Paisley again, along with presenter Eric Stonestreet, on stage
02:02at the CMA Awards and poked fun at Kim Kardashian for her very brief marriage to Kris Humphries.
02:08On stage, Stonestreet said to Underwood and Paisley,
02:11I think you forget to sing a song about what's weighing on everyone's mind in this room,
02:15the divorce of Kim Kardashian and what's-his-name.
02:19The group then sang lines like this,
02:21I'm going to love you forever, or 72 days.
02:24They went on to sing about being in love for, quote, as long as Justin Bieber is not a conceiver,
02:29not as long as Taylor Swift is with her current boyfriend.
02:32Then they sang about loving someone for, quote, $20 million, a hit TV series, or pics in Us
02:38Weekly.
02:39It's probably safe to say Kanye and Kim might not be the biggest Underwood fans after that.
02:44Demi Lovato was the judge on two seasons of the reality show X Factor, and during her
02:49time there, she seemingly dissed Underwood's singing ability.
02:53The drama all went down in 2013, when contestant Rachel Potter sang the song Alone, and when asked
02:59why she chose that tune, she explained that Underwood had performed the same number.
03:04In response to this, Lovato said,
03:06No, you would do better than Carrie Underfix.
03:10Underwood's fans weren't having any of it, and several jumped online to stand up for her
03:14after interpreting Lovato's comment as a slight on the country music star.
03:19One person said on Twitter,
03:20Hey Demi, Carrie Underwood would wipe the floor with every person on this show.
03:25Check yourself before you wreck yourself.
03:27Another person questioned,
03:28Who is Demi to say anything about Carrie?
03:30I'd suggest she concentrate on her own career, which isn't exactly stellar.
03:35However, if this was an actual beef, it appeared to simmer down by 2016.
03:40Underwood sent a tweet to Brad Paisley, who collaborated with Lovato.
03:44She wrote,
03:45I've always wanted to sing with Demi Lovato.
03:47And Lovato replied,
03:48Then you gotta join us, cause I've always wanted to sing with you, too.
