00:10According to California State Judge Trina Thompson, the government did not respect the legal procedures for thousands of migrants from Nicaragua, Honduras and Nepal.
00:20The ruling restored the status for the affected nationalities and rejected the Trump administration's request to dismiss the lawsuit.
00:28Organizations representing TPS beneficiaries celebrated the ruling and assured it is a temporary relief for migrants who depend on this program to legally stay and work in the United States.
00:41U.S. Homeland Security had announced the termination of the TPS programs for these countries in June and July, arguing that they had recovered from the environmental disaster that had prompted the granting of the temporary legal status.
00:58In this regard, Honduras President Xiomara Castro wrote on X that her government welcomed the decision by a federal judge in San Francisco to halt the cancellation of TPS for thousands of Hondurans in the United States.
01:15Castro reaframed that Honduras supported its migrants and will always defend their dignity and their rights and she also said that she embraced them with pride and will defend them until the last day of her term.
