00:43that I will support the Constitution of the United States

00:50the Constitution of the State of New York

00:54and the Charter of the City of New York

00:58and that I will faithfully discharge the duties

01:03of the Office of the Mayor of the City of New York

01:08according to the best of my ability

01:12So help me God.

01:38today begins a new era.

01:48I stand before you moved by the privilege of taking this sacred oath

01:58humbled by the faith that you have placed in me

02:02and honored to serve as either your 111th or 112th mayor of New York City

02:08But I do not stand alone. I stand alongside you, the tens of thousands of you gathered here in lower Manhattan

02:18warmed against the January chill by the resurgent flame of hope

02:23I stand alongside countless more New Yorkers watching from cramped kitchens in Flushing

02:33and barber shops in East New York

02:47from cell phones propped against the dashboards of parked taxi cabs at LaGuardia

02:52from hospitals in Mott Haven and libraries in El Barrio

02:58that have too long known only neglect

03:01I stand alongside construction workers in steel-toed boots

03:05and halal cart vendors whose knees ache from working all day

03:09I stand alongside neighbors who carry a plate of food to the elderly couple down the hall

03:17those in a rush who still lift strangers strollers up subway stairs

03:23and every person who makes the choice day after day

03:28even when it feels impossible to call our city home

03:32I stand alongside over one million New Yorkers who voted for this day nearly two months ago

03:39and I stand just as resolutely alongside those who did not

03:46I know there are some who view this administration with distrust or disdain

03:52or who see politics as permanently broken

03:56and while only action can change minds

03:59I promise you this
