Matt Damon and Marlon Wayans share a laugh over a blistering-hot moment with Ben Affleck on the set of "Air," their new film about Nike's first shoe deal with Michael Jordan. They also joked with Narcity's Josh Elliott about the perfect way to make a parody of their movie.

00:07serious hi guys how are you what's up how you doing man good matt uh i want to start with you

00:14you know obviously you and ben go way back but here you get to work with him as your director

00:18i'm willing to bet my career on michael jordan come on man you ask me what i do here this is

00:24what i do i find you players and i feel it this time i'm curious did you learn anything new about

00:31him from going through that experience uh i don't think so i mean i knew he was a great director

00:38so that did that news wasn't surprising to me um and you know i i we've worked so much together

00:44over the years uh in various capacities that this felt like a natural progression you know it didn't

00:50uh you know plus when i act opposite him he gives me notes anyway so you know that wasn't a change

00:56uh no it felt it felt very it was it was it felt very uh natural to be uh directed by him but but boy he

01:03is really good at it i thought he was the real deal and uh you know as an actor's director he was really

01:09good but i'll tell you what messed me up when he actually picked up a 90-pound camera and held it

01:16like this and was literally getting and we was doing a long take it must have been like an eight

01:22minute take and i look over and ben's just sweating and he has like sweat in his chest i was like this

01:29dude serious with marlon you remember how hot it was in that room because it was the middle of summer

01:35and and it was you know in those scenes whenever that you have a scene like that you know they turn

01:39the air conditioners off right because they because it's no good for sound and so it was cooking in

01:45this thing and ben's trying to shoot the scene and you know and he's like okay start again so

01:49marlon and i are doing a bunch of them on repeat by the end of it ben was just like soaking wet

01:54halfway through you just see the camera go well marlon maybe you can tell me like what was it about

02:02joining this that that made you say yes like i heard you jumped at it and obviously it's such a good

02:06time with everybody on set you know if i had to equate this uh movie to a basketball team

02:12it's the 92 bulls i gotta i gotta jump on the 92 bulls it's just you know you got ben you got

02:19matt you got tucker you got you know chris with this such amazing job bateman i'm a big fan of his

02:26and then viola davis um i'd be a fool to say no so i mean yeah that's how i felt too that's literally

02:34how i felt josh i i i couldn't this was one of the i mean and i said i have not i've never had a better

02:40time in terms of like just completely all-encompassing like because the work was so fun

02:45but the people were just so great well yeah you basically had a front row seat for everybody right

02:50like everyone gets to work off of you and it was just like yeah i showed up and i was opposite like

02:56muhammad ali every day nobody was like i had a great heavyweight across from me no matter no matter

03:00what day it was it was it was unbelievable well i gotta ask you i know you prepare a lot for your

03:05roles i'm curious how much of research went into this versus how much getting used to that uh that

03:10belly well it was a lot of it was really about you know capturing the uh the spirit of these guys

03:18like ben didn't want impersonations he didn't want you know he talked to all of us about that you know

03:23he's like it's more about what this time meant to them and and you know i spoke to sunny a good deal

03:29about it and and and and his nostalgia for this time and how much he loved these guys and how how

03:35they were like you know they were friends they were kind of a misfit but you know their band of kind of

03:40renegades and and they did this incredible thing that totally bucked conventional wisdom and it changed

03:45the world and so that's what we were trying to capture that spirit oh absolutely and marlon i want

03:51to ask you uh if someone were to come to you and pitch you another shoe story maybe about those big red boots

03:56and i hear you like those would you be into that i'm gonna do the big red boots as a parody to this

04:03movie i'm i'm gonna do that story that that is definitely the story i would do as a filmmaker if

04:12you do that parody you know you have to cast all of us right we all have to come in
