00:15is stepping down after less than a year in the role, according to People.
00:19After a year of inspiring work with Prince Harry and Meghan, Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Archewel,
00:25I will be pursuing a new opportunity in 2026.
00:30I have the utmost gratitude and respect for the couple and the team,
00:34and the good they are doing in the world, said Maines in a statement.
00:38A veteran publicist who has worked for Google, Hulu, and as a talent manager on American Idol,
00:44Maines joined Team Harry and Meghan in late February 2025.
00:49The Sussexes also issued a statement about her departure, saying,
00:52Meredith Maines and Method Communications have concluded their work with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
00:58The Duke and Duchess are grateful for their contributions and wish them well.
01:03Method Communications is a PR firm which was hired by Maines, reported the Daily Beast.
01:08According to Maines' LinkedIn profile, her role included work on both the couple's Archwell charity and Meghan's As Ever brand.
01:16Maines' exit followed a December 20th Daily Mail report that Archwell cut at least three staff amid financial strain,
01:22a day after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle said Archwell Foundation would rebrand as Archwell Philanthropies in 2026 officially.
01:31Spokesperson for the Archwell founders, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle,
01:35told the Daily Mail the full team remains,
01:38but a new fiscal sponsor model may cause layoffs, especially junior admin roles.
01:43They praised staff dedication and declined further personnel details.
01:48Since Harry and Meghan's departure from royal life in 2020,
01:52the parents to Archie, 6, and Lilibet, 4, have had at least five communications staffers leave their roles.
01:59Liam McGuire, their UK and Europe Director of Communications,
02:03remains employed and, according to People, will take over for Maines.
