NZ rings in 2026, Australia revellers hold minute's silence for Bondi Beach attack victims

New Zealanders were amongst the first in the world to celebrate the arrival of 2026 with a fireworks display in Auckland on Thursday (Jan 1).

In Sydney, Australia, revellers observed a minute's silence for the victims of the Dec 14 Bondi Beach attack at an hour before their countdown party.
