01:00Yes, former Miss Illinois USA 2022.
01:032022.
01:05Grateful to have been only the second Latina in Illinois state history to win the title at the time.
01:10Let's talk about the pageant, how it was, and why at some point you decided that it's okay to just maybe consider certain,
01:20let's say, procedures or enhancements like what you had with Dr. Shah that you feel made a big difference
01:28and gave you that, not just look, but the whole empowerment to get your goals.
01:36Yeah, absolutely.
01:37So a little bit of my backstory in pageantry, actually, I've been competing for over 15 years.
01:41I started when I was 15 years old.
01:44And I've always been involved in the beauty, you know, just very intrigued in beauty and fashion
01:49and the aesthetic and wellness-based as a whole.
01:52It's just something that I always idolize.
01:55And sometimes, you know, looking at myself, I was very into makeup and all of the things beauty.
02:01And I can just kind of look at things that I necessarily wasn't the most happy with.
02:06Not that, you know, I hated myself in any way or not that I thought of myself lesser than anyone,
02:12but I just knew that there were options out there to help you enhance in a better way.
02:18And I knew that those were options that were available to me,
02:22and that was something that I wanted to take.
02:24So how did you meet Dr. Shah?
02:26And how was that, like, meeting and the decisions?
02:29We spoke to him already, but it's good to hear from your end.
02:52Yeah, absolutely.
02:53You know, it's not something that you can just do on the fly.
02:56And so I adore Dr. Shah.
02:58He's truly been pivotal in helping me in my life and just my self-confidence in my journey.
03:03I'm through it all.
03:04So I had done tons and tons of research.
03:08Like I said, getting a rhinoplasty was something that I knew that I always wanted to do.
03:13But with that came three things.
03:14And I always say this for anyone considering plastic surgery, even for myself,
03:18is you have to do it for yourself and not because anyone's telling you that you have to do it.
03:24You have to do it properly and with a professional.
03:28And so those were the things that I was looking for when scouting a surgeon.
03:31And, you know, I came across Dr. Shah as a part of my research.
03:36And I consulted with him actually about four to five years before I even decided to get the surgery.
03:44Wow.
03:45Initial consult many, many years ago.
03:47And I just knew it was something not to take lightly.
03:50And so I just kept doing, you know, my research, sitting on it, understanding if this is something that I actually wanted to follow through with.
03:57And lo and behold, in 2022, I actually decided to go with it.
04:00You did it.
04:01You did it.
04:02So, yeah.
04:03What would you say to another person, to another woman who is considering, let's say, a procedure?
04:08Like I mentioned before, you know, definitely make sure you're doing it for yourself, not because society is pressuring you in any way.
04:14Make sure that it's something that you want.
04:16And, of course, make sure that it's done by a professional in a professional setting and that you actually do your research on the procedure.
04:23But outside of that, I would say if you do step into it, it's going to open a door for a world of opportunities.
04:29Just because I truly believe, and I'm a firm believer, is when you look good, you feel good and you're able to convey that to the world.
04:38And so, if you do something to enhance your confidence, it just really changes your life in ways that you can show up for yourself and step into rooms with confidence.
05:12Rhinoplastia es so powerful.
05:15It is the most challenging procedure in all of plastic surgery.
05:19I, again, I'm biased because I work only on the face, but the face is the part that identifies us.
05:28And the most, one of the most important parts of the face is the nose.
05:32If the nose stands out too much, it can make everything else look worse.
05:36And the goal over here for Angelis, when she came in, is she was gorgeous, beautiful.
05:40With Angelis, in particular, she came in and she kind of expressed, you know, I've done well, but here's the feedback I'm getting.
06:04I'm getting feedback, not just from one coach, but multiple coaches.
06:08And these coaches have to be really honest.
06:09This is really difficult.
06:10Yeah, it's their job.
06:12Their job isn't to be like Chanty Beauty and say, everything is good and you look great.
06:17The job is actually to be really, really honest.
06:19And it's difficult.
06:20These girls are very vulnerable.
06:22And he said, hey, guess what?
06:23You did really well.
06:25But for you to win, like if you want to win, you need to go to someone really good who's going to do that.
06:31And there's only one person I can pick up.
06:34And he said, you're going to go to someone.
06:35So he's got a track record of success.
06:37And your nose is great.
06:38And I would not trust your nose to a single person.
06:41So that's how we get connected.
06:43And then we look at her.
06:45We're like, she's gorgeous.
06:47Like beyond gorgeous.
06:48But the idea is that let's connect these dots.
06:51Let's see what's happening in photos.
06:53Let's kind of create the contour so that when she's even without makeup, she's going to look gorgeous.
06:57And even with makeup, it's another level.
06:58And then being able to see that, it almost always is a little bit of a time rush.
07:04And so I have to get her ready in, I think it was like two or three months.
07:09And it's behind the scenes again.
07:12So many things happen.
07:13So to get someone ready for two or three months to be on, I don't think even just national.
07:19It's international stage.
07:21There's a lot of work that goes into it.
07:23And, but that's also what I do every day.
07:27Every month I try to get ready.
07:29I try to get them ready.
07:30I'm assuming that they have to be ready.
07:31So let's talk about that.
08:00Okay, so first statement, the stigma.
08:03Well, there is a stigma if you have bad plastic surgery.
08:08Bad plastic surgery, in my opinion, looks cheap.
08:10And it's just obvious to others.
08:13Well done plastic surgery is really hard to identify.
08:17And patients, like whether they want it or not, lots of patients, like if you wear makeup and you contour your nose,
08:24you probably want to change your nose.
08:25If you wear, if you do a filter on your face and you're sending filters out, they probably want to change their nose.
08:33And the idea with this is patients tell me what they want to do by how they present themselves.
08:38My goal is to present their version of themselves of what they're already presenting.
08:44Their filters, pictures of themselves, their makeup.
08:47They kind of give me hints that they want their nose narrower.
08:49They want shadow.
08:50They want to smooth things out and all this.
08:52And so for all of us together, the stigma is there, but in reality, it's not there.
08:57Because if it's performed well, people won't know.
09:01They will give you a spontaneous compliment.
09:03They're saying, wow, you look beautiful.
09:04I don't know why.
09:05Your hair looks beautiful.
09:06Your eyes look beautiful.
09:07And they compliment everything else but the nose.
09:10And that's the beauty of well done plastic surgery.
09:12So that's the idea that makes, and who doesn't want to give compliments about themselves?
09:18And the beauty of plastic surgery as well is you take something that maybe you're not confident about
09:23and you turn this part that you don't like into one of your best features, your best assets.
