00:00:00Good morning to one and all virtually present here. All of us have joined together here for
00:00:09the third edition of webinar on Partnership for Action Against Tuberculosis, PACT. Jan
00:00:15Andolin for TB Free India by 2025. Be it pre-COVID or during COVID, lungs has been as an important
00:00:24organ to be taken care of. When HIV was at its peak, TB co-infections was the major concern.
00:00:33During COVID, shockness of breath was the key symptom to be watched out for. Today, we have
00:00:41a diversified agenda ahead. Before we move on to the main agenda, may now request Mr. SN Dilip,
00:00:50Unit Head, Classic Industries, Pune to welcome the gathering and set the context.
00:00:55Good morning. I would like to extend a warm welcome to everyone who is attending this webinar
00:01:01on Partnership for Action Against Tuberculosis. My name is Dilip Essan, Unit Head of Classic
00:01:06Industries and Exports Limited, Pune. And I am delighted to host the third edition of PACT
00:01:12on behalf of Apollo Ties Foundation and Classic Industries and Exports Limited for the Maharashtra
00:01:17region. We are privileged to have Dr. Sudhashan Mandal, Deputy Director General from Central

00:01:28We are also glad to partner with USAID and the union for the collaboration and in bringing
00:01:34this equipment together. Tuberculosis in India is a major health problem. The country has the
00:01:40world's highest incidence of TB with 2.8 million cases annually and accounts for more than a quarter
00:01:47of the global TB burden. Due to the COVID pandemic, India witnessed a significant drop in the notification
00:01:54of TB cases. It is also proven that TB patients are more vulnerable to getting infected with COVID due to
00:02:02low immunity. Apollo Ties Foundation is making sure that TB awareness gets significant attention. Apollo Ties Foundation
00:02:12launched its third edition of TB fee transition, a transition campaign on 9th September for trucking
00:02:18community which has been well received reaching out to nearly 85,000 people. It went on for two weeks
00:02:25weeks till 25th September across 19 states. There will be a detailed presentation on the campaign in the
00:02:32subsequent sessions. Today, after this inaugural session, we will be having a short session on
00:02:38Partnership for TB Elimination with the representative from the Government of Maharashtra, Dr. Ramji Atkekar,
00:02:45State TB Officer. I extend a warm welcome to Dr. Atkekar. We also have with us Mohamed Shadab, Senior Manager of
00:02:54Corporate Partnerships of Corporate Partnerships from the Union. Chaitanya Shroff, Director of

00:03:30director, best known for his comic roles in films like Tezab, Golmalti and Singer. I extend a warm
00:03:37welcome to all the panel members. This is just a start and we have a long way to go to ensure TB
00:03:44Free India by 2025. The Jan Andolan has just begun and we are glad to be part of it. Thank you.
00:03:51Thank you sir for your warm welcome and setting the context for the day.
00:03:58In the previous two editions, our focus states were Gujarat followed by Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
00:04:06This year it's Maharashtra, the state occupying a substantial portion of the Deccan Plate.
00:04:10We have Dr. Ramji Adekar, State TB Officer, Maharashtra to address on Partnership for Elimination in the State.
00:04:20Sir, over to you.
00:04:21Our greetings from State PBS and Maharashtra. As all of you know that Maharashtra is one of the states
00:04:28which have highest burden of MDR TB cases, that is multi-drug resistance TB cases.
00:04:38Out of 100, around 70% cases are from Mumbai, Dhani and Peri Mumbai region.
00:04:49And most of the industries are located in this region. So, I would like to take this opportunity
00:04:57to request the industries to focus on the timely and complete treatment of their workforce.
00:05:06And I also request them to support us in timely diagnosis and to reach out to these patients so
00:05:17that we can treat them and we can ensure that there will not be MDR cases. This will be our priority
00:05:32because once the patient turns to be MDR. So, the time for the treatment, it is longer than
00:05:42drug sensitivity, drug sensitive tuberculosis cases. So, this is one area. And again,
00:05:51we have already taken an initiative to reach out to every block to provide them
00:06:01treatment. Even in adverse situations also, like during COVID period, there were challenges to supply
00:06:12drugs to each and every patient. In such situations, I expect that carport sector can
00:06:21help us to reach out to these patients. Again, diagnostic facilities. We have diagnostic facilities
00:06:31in the form of microscopy, then CBNET machines, then 2NET machines, but the number is
00:06:43quite less when we want to reach out to every block in the state. So, we have more than 355 blocks and we
00:06:53right now we have around 250 CBNET machines and 2NET machines. This year, we are procuring more than 100
00:07:032NET machines. So, we will reach to every block, but definitely regarding the IC to create awareness
00:07:16regarding our diagnosis and treatment. Also, I think Carport sector can help us to reach out to every village
00:07:25and to create awareness among the people so that we can diagnose early. We start the treatment as soon as
00:07:35we diagnose the case and we complete the treatment so that there will not be any case of MD or XDR.
00:07:46So, this is how we can reach out to all the community in the Maharashtra and I definitely
00:07:55have faith in the Carport sector. They can definitely
00:07:58help us to reach the target of TB free Maharashtra and TB free India. Thank you.
00:08:13Dr. Ramji has been supporting very well on the state initiative and we would be happy to continue
00:08:21and receive the same. Thank you sir. Now, it's time to engage the audience through our live polling.
00:08:30There are a set of four questions which will be displaying on your laptops, computers, mobiles.
00:08:36So, please post your answers within 60 seconds from the time it pops up on your screen. Our expert,
00:08:45Dr. Rakesh Piase, Senior Technical Advisor of the Union, will give the answers and his perspective
00:08:51after the poll. Here we go.
00:09:21His staff says,
00:09:38you
00:09:49So, it's very happy to see that so many people have participated in the court answering questions
00:10:18what has been projected here.
00:10:20So, I will try to explain the answers to you.
00:10:25Question number one was how many people die due to TB in India every day?
00:10:32Apart from the pandemic year, TB remains as the top most killer among the infectious diseases
00:10:40in the world.
00:10:41It kills more people than what HIV does.
00:10:46In the world, when we look at, in a day, 3850 people die due to tuberculosis.
00:10:56Out of that, more than 30% are in our country, India.
00:11:03It is estimated that 4,36,000 people die due to tuberculosis every year in our country,
00:11:12that indicates to 1200 people dying due to TB per day or 50 deaths due to TB per hour in
00:11:25our country.
00:11:27So, the answer, it's more than 1000 people die every day due to TB in our country, answer
00:11:36D.
00:11:37Now, let's move to question number two.
00:11:40The question number two was about what you think is the estimated number of new TB cases
00:11:48TB cases in the world.
00:12:01India contributes to 26% of the global TB burden.
00:12:09That means, when four people are getting diagnosed as TB in the world, out of the four, one will
00:12:17be an Indian.
00:12:20So, it is estimated that 26.4 lakh people develop TB every year in our country.
00:12:30That comes to around 193 per lakh.
00:12:34So, the answer for question two would be between 100 and 500 persons per lakh population.
00:12:41The choice is D.
00:12:43So, now you might be surprised to hear about how big a problem TB is in our country and how
00:12:53much damage that disease is causing to our nation.
00:12:57Now, let's come to question number three, which asks about how many cases of TB did Maharashtra's
00:13:04case reported in 2020.
00:13:08The target fixed by government of India regarding the number of cases that need to be diagnosed
00:13:16in Maharashtra for the year 2020 was 2.7 lakhs.
00:13:21But due to the impact of COVID-19 pandemic, the Maharashtra state could diagnose around 1.6 lakhs
00:13:32TB cases in the year 2020.
00:13:35That comes to around approximately 60 percentage of what has been given as the target.
00:13:42So, we all know COVID-19 pandemic had huge impacts not only here, but all over the world in the
00:13:51diagnosis of tuberculosis.
00:13:53So, we might have missed approximately 40 percentage of the tuberculosis cases in getting them diagnosed
00:14:02early.
00:14:03So, the answer for that question would be approximately 127 per lakh population.
00:14:16That comes to around between 100 and 500.
00:14:20So now we realize that TB is a major problem in our state Maharashtra too.
00:14:29So, the fourth and the most important question was, have you heard of any corporate or business
00:14:35associations which had a TB and workplace policy?
00:14:40Yes, there was a policy that has been brought out by the Ministry of Labour and Amendment in
00:14:49coordination with the Central TB Division, Government of India in 2019 to deal tuberculosis, TB related
00:14:57morbidity, morbidity, and HIV in the world of work.
00:15:04So, that basically focus on creating an environment in every workplace so that every employees will
00:15:15have access to TB related information, they will all have access to TB diagnosis.
00:15:22You know, they have been offered screening, regular screening for getting a diagnosis for tuberculosis.
00:15:32And once diagnosed, all provisions for initiating treatment and continuation of the treatment,
00:15:39all support which they require for the continuation of the treatment that need to be provided at the
00:15:44level of work place and they all have been offered a stigma or discrimination free workplace as a policy by the employer or the business organizations or the corporates.
00:15:59So many corporates have joined like business associations like FOCIA, they have developed a TB and workplace policy.
00:16:07They have also identified TB as one of their priority areas in the social agenda.
00:16:13So, what we have discussed till now is TB is a major public health problem in India affecting the development of the nation.
00:16:24And it is the India that needs to lead the fight against tuberculosis.
00:16:31If India controls TB, the world controls TB.
00:16:34And for India to control TB, it is every citizen of India's responsibility to fight against tuberculosis.
00:16:42Let us join this fight against tuberculosis.
00:16:47That was indeed a very nice way to explain and give the answers for all the four questions through the audience pool.
00:16:57Thanks to Dr. Rakesh.
00:16:59Experience is a teacher of all things.
00:17:04When it comes to fight against the dreaded disease, definitely it will be of great help.
00:17:09Ms. Prabamahesh, Project Director, Health Alert India Mumbai, our TB champion has contributed two decades of work in TB control and reached out to 60,000 TB patients and mentored 2,000 TB survivors across the country and the globe to function as TB champions.
00:17:32Here we go to listen to a master champion to share an experience.
00:17:39Over to you.
00:17:40Hello.
00:17:41Good afternoon everybody.
00:17:42I am Prabamahesh.
00:17:43I am Director with Alert India.
00:17:48I have lived, experienced and survived TB.
00:17:53I am a mother.
00:17:54I am a woman.
00:17:55And I also held a responsible position in the organization when TB actually hit me.
00:18:03What I suffered most was the stigma and discrimination.
00:18:07My diagnosis was delayed.
00:18:09I had to undergo surgery.
00:18:11And a lot of painful things happened with my TB experience.
00:18:14But more than that, what pained me most was the discrimination at my workplace.
00:18:19The same colleagues who often wanted to have lunch with me, today they said they don't want to even touch my lunch box because I had TB.
00:18:29So the workplace which was a huge comfort place for me where I spent maximum number of hours became a threatening environment where I even avoided to go to work when I had TB because of the discrimination that I faced with.
00:18:44So my most important request to all organizations is that ensuring that there is an enabling environment, creating a patient friendly space for the TB patients in the organization.
00:18:59Most importantly, they have to be educated about TB, ensuring that there are screening services offered to the TB patients and any symptomatic patient requiring help.
00:19:12The human resource should be well equipped with that information and encourage them to ensure that they get tested.
00:19:19Because if they have a stigma of not wanting getting to test for TB, they may be affecting all the other workers who may be symptomatic and they will be spreading the disease actually in a very, very big way.
00:19:35So the only way to control this is early diagnosis and early treatment and ensuring adherence of treatment.
00:19:42And from the organizations, my big request is that please provide a space without discrimination.
00:19:49When a patient is diagnosed with TB, provide the information, please provide services like work from home because the first one is going to be terrible suffering the side effects and they need to have home remedies and the better they get some rest in between.
00:20:05And thirdly, most important is ensuring that there is a counseling service or a support or an encouragement provided to the patient till the patient completes treatment ensuring that patient comes out with a successful outcome of completing the treatment.
00:20:21Because when I case the treatment.
00:20:22Because when I case the examination, I have interrupted treatment for two days because of it, probably I would have put the threat to other people by infecting others as well.
00:20:31But please do not do that and create enabling and friendly and comforting space for the TB patients so that their disease is not considered as something very difficult and it will be a very easy process for them to complete the treatment.
00:20:51Thank you very much.
00:20:52That was inspiring and a special thanks to our TB champion.
00:21:02I would also like to mention that Alert India is one of our implementing partner in our Mumbai Centre for our ongoing healthcare programme.
00:21:12Corporate TB Pledge, a joint initiative of Central TB Division, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare,
00:21:21and USAID to galvanise corporate support for elimination of TB by 2025, where Apollo Tyres is a diamond partner for this initiative.
00:21:34Now, we have Mohamed Chhadaab, Senior Manager, Corporate Partnership, The Union, to give the overview of corporate TB pledge.
00:21:43Thank you, Pruthi.
00:21:46Good morning, everyone, and thank you for your time for attending this important webinar.
00:21:53So, as mentioned, corporate sector, because they play a very critical role in any developmental issues.
00:22:01So, for this background, this entire initiative basically was formalized and kind of developed.
00:22:10So, why TB?
00:22:12I think anybody will have question that there are so many issues, why TB?
00:22:17So, 26% of TB cases globally are from India and we lose about 1200 Indians to TB every day.
00:22:27That's a big number.
00:22:29And this brings a lot of economic cost to the country.
00:22:32Because there is medical cost, most of these people who are having TB, more than 80% are in the age group of 15 to 60 years.
00:22:44And these are the productive age group who work for us, who earn for their families.
00:22:49And when they fall sick, when there is absenteeism, when there is medical cost.
00:22:53So, there is like a multiplier effect on economy.
00:22:56And as per estimation, over 3 billion USD is the annual economic cost of TB to India.
00:23:06And with this background, our Prime Minister, Mr. Renan Modi, called for TB elimination in India by 2025.
00:23:152025 is not far away considering the size of our country, the diversity.
00:23:21Everybody really has to join hands if we really want to achieve this ambitious mission.
00:23:27Because if we really have to look for TB free generation or TB free world, this is not possible without making India TB free.
00:23:39Because larger portion of TB cases is from India.
00:23:43And this, as I said, because we are a big country, we have diverse population, diversity of languages, challenges.
00:23:52So, every sector has to play a role. It's just not the health sector.
00:23:56Because TB has other correlations with nutrition, with airborne infection control, with access to services.
00:24:05So, there are so many things with other sectors can do in terms of mobilizing communities, creating awareness, facilitating access to services.
00:24:14And with this, because everybody has to play a role.
00:24:18So, the Government of India has initiated TB MOOC, Bharat Abhiyan.
00:24:23And that's how we all are basically joining hands and committing our support to TB elimination efforts.
00:24:30Corporate sector in particular, because of its recent communities and the workplaces among workers and the resources they have, as well as expertise.
00:24:41They can really, really change the game.
00:24:44They are going to be the vital player in this fight against TB.
00:24:48And that's how we feel that until this corporate sector plays an important role in the fight against TB, we will not be successful.
00:24:57With this belief and with this understanding, we mobilized the highest kind of leadership in India.
00:25:04We reached out to Mr. Radham Tata, Mr. Amitabh Bachchan and the former U.S. Ambassador to India.
00:25:12And then all senior officials from the Government of India.
00:25:16And placed together to make India TB free.
00:25:20And that's how this entire campaign of mobilizing the corporate sector in the fight started some time back.
00:25:27To further kind of formalize the mechanism and make it into a formal project, the corporate TB pledge initiative was jointly launched by Government of India and USA in 2019.
00:25:44And the idea was basically that utilize corporate reach and resources for creating awareness among communities and at workplaces.
00:25:54Leverage resources as well as recognize the good work being done by the corporate partners at various forums.
00:26:03So what is the pledge? What is corporate TB pledge?
00:26:06So it's basically a tier based pledge where corporate can join hands in different categories, gold category, platinum and diamond.
00:26:15So in gold category, the corporate will say, okay, we commit and we will do something about it and then do some periodic event,
00:26:24whether it is World TB Day, World Health Day, World Health Day and then create awareness and maybe do some periodic screening on TB within communities and at the workplaces.
00:26:36In platinum, they invest resources.
00:26:39Invest resources either in a full-fledged TB and workplace intervention or any CSR based intervention or by initiating any TB services into their health,
00:26:53existing health infrastructure or starting fresh.
00:26:56So basically investment and showing impact and measuring impact and reporting outcome is the kind of overall idea under this platinum company.
00:27:10And we have a lot of partners who are doing great work in this in this category.
00:27:14Diamond is our highest category where companies and the pledge members do all the things what is required in gold and platinum.
00:27:22At the same time, they mobilize other corporates to join the fight.
00:27:27Apollo Task Foundation as our diamond member is doing fantastic job.
00:27:33So even this webinar is basically aimed at mobilizing other companies and other corporates to join the fight.
00:27:42And this would have not been possible without their support because corporate know how to work with other corporates.
00:27:51So what do you get as a corporate TB pledge member?
00:27:56So there is a secretariat within the union, which is hosted through supported IDFID TB project.
00:28:07And then in this secretariat, we have people who are experienced and trained to coordinate and support corporate partners.
00:28:15You will get specifically designed material for workplaces and CSR projects.
00:28:22You will get all the technical support in designing your projects.
00:28:25If you want to do anything on TB, whether within communities or at workplaces, we will help you to design those projects.
00:28:33All training, which is whether direct master trainers or the NGO partners, their training will be done by the union or our partners.
00:28:43And then coordination with district TB team for accessing information services, diagnostic support, treatment support, all those coordination is also supported by us.
00:28:54Then free of course, medicine, free of course, diagnostics, consumables, if you want to do anything in public private partnership, whether a lab or any other mechanism.
00:29:05So this is all provided to you free of course.
00:29:08Then we also help you to integrate some indicators and do your documentation as a good practice and find if there is anything which can be scaled and can be really shared with other audience so that it can be replicated and scaled.
00:29:25And then we also recognize efforts of the corporate at various national and international forums by giving away awards or documenting the good work and disseminating it at various forums.
00:29:39And then we also kind of support in creating mechanisms where this work can reach to the masses, reach to the stakeholders so that there is good visibility and goodwill for the company.
00:29:56These are the logos of some of our partners.
00:30:00We have overall 130 corporate partners as of now, eight business associations.
00:30:05Some of logos are here, we could not give all the logos because of the limitation of time.
00:30:12Business association, as I said, we have eight business associations and they are playing a vital role in mobilizing companies in the fight against TB.
00:30:22This is last World TV Day when companies were recognized by the health minister, former health minister for doing good work in TB.
00:30:33So the Apollo Tires Foundation, Medanta Hospital, FOCIA and J&J, four companies were recognized.
00:30:41At the Secretariat, we also have an online platform, which is basically helping the companies to get technical support virtually and also sharing their good work and experiences and practices with other partners.
00:30:56So this is broadly about the corporate TV pledge.
00:31:03We have a Secretariat, which is really looking forward to welcome you to join the pledge and then support you in designing your activities in a way which can really help the communities on the ground and also to help your workplaces and workforce to be healthy.
00:31:19And we look forward to working with you closely. Thank you.
00:31:26Thanks to Shadab for giving an overview on CTP.
00:31:36As he was mentioning about corporates playing a vital role in elimination of TB and joining hands together, most of us might be aware of Global Goals for Sustainable Development, wherein one of the goals is partnership for the goals.
00:31:53In that context, organizations like FOCIA, Federation of Kach Industries Association and Coastal Gujarat Power Limited have joined hands together to eliminate TB by 2025 under the corporate TB pledge.
00:32:08Can we hear the success stories from Chaitanya Sharif, Director FOCIA and Pradeep Kumar Ghoshal, Head Environment, Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability.
00:32:23India's national TB elimination program is geared to meet the ambitious goal pronounced by the Honorable Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi in his clarion call of ending TB in India by 2025.
00:32:37Acknowledging the TB problem in the Kach region and subsequent to that a meeting held by Apollo Taya's foundation, FOCIA is committed to work on TB as a priority area.
00:32:48We realized the prevalence and socio-economic impact of TB in our country.
00:32:54To effectively contribute to the mission, we have decided to form a committee within FOCIA to plan and monitor activities on TB with corporate partners.
00:33:05We also organized follow-up discussion with members.
00:33:09Today, we have seven members who have joined the corporate TB pledge and are organizing various activities to promote TB awareness in their respective areas.
00:33:20Based on our experience of working with the CTP Secretariat at the union, we can say that it is not about financial resources or investment rather about opportunities or possibilities where corporate partners can integrate TB activities into their existing interventions and capitalize on free of cost government services to effectively contribute to the program.
00:33:45We urge all corporates to seriously consider joining the fight to eliminate TB.
00:33:52Working closely with FOCIA, we realized that by joining corporate TB pledge, we can actually utilize the technical support being offered by the union as well as coordinate with government, missionary and the function in TB space.
00:34:07In a short span of time, our project team has been trained and capacitated to undertake screening of TB symptomatic patients.
00:34:15They also know where the symptomatic patients are to be sent for further testing and treatment support.
00:34:21We have initiated integration of TB activities at workplaces in our community intervention.
00:34:26It is the interest of the company and community at large to join the pledge.
00:34:31Thank you very much.
00:34:37Thanks to Chaitan Ashraf and Pradeep Ghoshal for sharing their story on partnership.
00:34:43To spread the awareness on TB, facilitate the trucking community for TB testing for early diagnosis and treatment, a 15-day campaign was started on September 9th and ended on September 25th, which is World Lung Stay, which was conducted by Apollo Tires in 19 states, with a special focus on Maharashtra.
00:35:06To give more details about the campaign, I request Amit Ranjan Choudhury, the Programme Lead for Health, Apollo Tires Foundation to take over.
00:35:15Thank you Prithvi and good morning to all of you.
00:35:19Today I am here to share about the achievement of the Addition 3 TB-Free Translippant Location Campaign.
00:35:27But before that, I would like to share about Tracker's Healthcare Programme, which is the flagship programme of Apollo Tires under the corporate social responsibility.
00:35:38Through this programme, Foundation has reached over 5.5 million beneficiaries.
00:35:45This programme was launched 20 years back and in the beginning of the programme, focus was on HIV-AIDS only.
00:35:54But later on, Foundation had incorporated services for the vision care, tuberculosis, non-communicable disease, especially focus on diabetes and hypertension.
00:36:08Foundation also started services on yoga at few locations.
00:36:14And last year, we also have incorporated services on COVID, awareness generation on COVID, COVID testing and COVID vaccination for the tracking community.
00:36:27The programme presents in 19 states of India at 31 major translippant locations.
00:36:35So you can see the locations across India.
00:36:40Now, I would like to share about the Foundation journey for TB-Free India, Jan Andolan.
00:36:46Apollo Tires Foundation started a pilot project on tuberculosis for the Tracker's Community at one location, which was in Delhi.
00:36:56Later on, in 2018, signed agreement with the union for technical support.
00:37:03And that year only incorporated TV services at 10 locations.
00:37:09In 2019, Apollo Tires Foundation signed corporate TV pledge as a platinum member.
00:37:18And that year only incorporated TV services across all 31 locations.
00:37:24The same year started TV testing and treatment services at two locations with government support under public-private model.
00:37:36In 2020, Foundation corporate TV pledge membership upgraded to diamond member after successful implementation of TV services.
00:37:47Same year, in 2020, Foundation initiative recognized in the best practice compendium released by Union Health Minister, Government of India.
00:37:59Same year, launched TV-Free Translippant Location campaign, Addition 1, in September 2020.
00:38:06And incorporated TV testing and treatment services at five locations under the public-private model.
00:38:15In 2021, we incorporated TV services at manufacturing locations.
00:38:21We started TV services like awareness generation tuberculosis in the communities surrounding our manufacturing locations and among our plant employee.
00:38:37This year, Foundation has mobilized eight corporates to join corporate TV members through partnership for action against tuberculosis.
00:38:48In 2021, we received a certificate of appreciation and memento from Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India for excellent work in TV space.
00:39:00In 2021, we launched Addition 2 of TV-Free Translippant Location in March 2021 and Addition 3 in September 2021, which we have completed last week only.
00:39:18So the specific three objective was for the campaign to create awareness TB as a curable disease among druggers and allied population.
00:39:28To identify presumptive cases and facilitate them for TB testing.
00:39:34And link TB-confirmed cases with the dot facilities to initiate treatment at earliest.
00:39:44So I am very much happy to share the achievement of Addition 3 TB-Free Translippant Location campaign.
00:39:55So over 90,000 beneficiary we have reached out directly.
00:40:01But indirectly, we have reached out over 2 lakhs people.
00:40:07We have facilitated 2,000 TB testing.
00:40:12And we have identified 95 confirmed cases.
00:40:18But still, some test results are surveyed.
00:40:23This number may increase.
00:40:26And as on date, more than 80% confirmed cases had been linked with the dot facility to start their treatment.
00:40:36This is the glimpses of campaign you can see.
00:40:40Across locations, our team is doing activities with the tracking community and generating awareness on Prueba Crosis.
00:40:51Support our foundation is committed to TB-Free India by 2025.
00:40:57At the end, I would like to thank all the implementing partners, our project team members, peer volunteers,
00:41:08district TB officials at respective locations, state TB sales in respective states,
00:41:16and the excellent support we have received from Central TB Division.
00:41:23And thanks to the union team who have guided us and extended their support to manage this campaign in a wonderful way.
00:41:35Thank you from my side to all.
00:41:38Thank you, Amit.
00:41:42In the state of Maharashtra, Ranjan Gaon has a special connect to Apollo Ties because of the presence of classic industries,
00:41:50which manufactures tube for tires.
00:41:53Rai, Ranjan Gaon Industry Association, has played a vital role in bringing the neighboring industries together for this evening.
00:42:00I take this opportunity to invite Mr. Ravi Choudhury, Secretary Rai to address the gathering.
00:42:09It is our honor and absolute privilege to be partnering with Apollo Ties Foundation, CIAEL, the union and USAID as part of this webinar today.
00:42:24During our interaction in the past with Apollo Ties Foundation and the union, we comprehended the gravity of TB disease in the country.
00:42:36We realized extreme socioeconomic impact of TB that it is not limited to health and economy alone, but it is much graver.
00:42:47With India looking towards eliminating TB by 2025, the role of each stakeholder is of utmost importance.
00:42:59The discussions made us realize that corporates and business associations, through their reach and resources at workplaces and communities,
00:43:12have concrete role to play in this endeavor.
00:43:17As corporates, we have the reach of visas, the capacity and potential to reach out to our employees and educate, support them.
00:43:29We can ensure that they are tested, put on treatment if found positive, facilitate their treatment and support them in treatment adherence.
00:43:41These activities will also ensure in providing them with a conducive and stigma-free environment at workplace so that every TB patient is reported and successfully treated.
00:43:58With this background, Ria is delighted to be a part of this journey.
00:44:04As a first step, this is our first activity of this scale and we are really happy and thankful to be part of this event today.
00:44:17As a business association, we commit that we will take TB as one of our priority areas in terms of our social agenda.
00:44:29We will mobilize our corporate members to join TB pledge.
00:44:36We will also do continuous advocacy with our members so that they can ensure and start awareness activities on TB at their workplaces.
00:44:48And if possible, they can put up guidelines in place to ensure early diagnosis, treatment adherence and stigma-free environment for the workers.
00:45:01Other than this, we will also explore possibilities of working more closely with the district TB department and also integrate TB in various other events that we organize including activities on World AIDS Day, Health Day, annual event, etc.
00:45:26With this, we thank everyone for participating in the webinar today and we really encourage all our members to join the corporate TB pledge.
00:45:37Thanks to Mr. Ravi Choudhary and his team for their support rendered to make this event a successful one and also going forward for their continued support.
00:45:52Life is a tragedy when seen in close-up, but a comedy in long shot.
00:45:59The words of Charlie Chaplin.
00:46:01Vijay Patkar is an Indian theatre, television, Marathi film and Bollywood actor who has been greatly influenced by Charlie Chaplin, The Little Tramp.
00:46:15Patkar is known for comic roles who started acting from the year 1988.
00:46:24He has directed seven films and produced three as on date.
00:46:28When discussed about Apollo Taya's work on the TV front and this event, he immediately gave us time and assured to make his presence for the event.
00:46:38For the next five minutes, I request the audience to keep your ears sharp and don't get distracted.
00:46:45Let's hear from Vijay Patkar who is here with us to share the message on tuberculosis.
00:46:51Please appreciate the information in the video.

00:48:18We are not a lot of pain in our country, but we are not a lot of pain in our country.
00:48:28We are not a lot of pain in our country, but we are not a lot of pain in our country.
00:48:38We are not a lot of pain in our country.
00:48:52It is not a manpower, it is a manpower.
00:49:02And it is a human being.
00:49:05The union, the international union,
00:49:10is where it is, where it is, where it is, where it is.
00:49:15That is one of the parts of the Upload Tires.
00:49:22Every company, it is in all.
00:49:27The Upload Tires is a good thing to do.
00:49:32The answer is that Upload Tires.
00:49:36The Upload Tires is a good thing to do.

00:50:20I'm very proud to be a Tires.
00:50:23There are many miles of people who have been working on the city of Apoll Tires.
00:50:35There is no city of Apoll Tires.
00:50:41But I have to say that Apoll Tires.
00:50:44I have to complete Apoll Tires.
00:50:48If you have a mess of it, then you have to sell the Apollo Tires.
00:50:52These companies.
00:50:53They have to sell the Apollo Tires.
00:50:56Sell it.
00:50:57Sell it.

00:51:16Okay.
00:51:17They are like this.
00:51:18My name is the Apollo Tires, you can sell it.

00:51:44It's a complete surprise.
00:51:47And the fact that the people,
00:51:50in this case,

00:53:15We are not allowed to do that.
00:53:18We are allowed to do it.
00:53:20We are allowed to do it.
00:53:21We are allowed to do it.
00:53:23We are allowed to do it.
00:53:26We are allowed to do it.
00:53:29We are allowed to do it.
00:53:33We are allowed to do it.
00:53:35We are allowed to do it.
00:53:39Thank you very much.
00:53:45A message can be communicated in different forms, in different ways.
00:53:50ways. Likewise, Vijay Padkur has his own unique style in communicating this important message.
00:53:57Thank you sir for being with us and spending your time for this wonderful event.
00:54:04Coming together is a beginning, staying together is a progress and working together is success.
00:54:12USAID has been instrumental in supporting us through the union to make the program
00:54:18elimination of TB by 2025 a successful one. Arvind Kumar, Senior Manager, Strategy Partnership, USAID India
00:54:27will now be addressing the gathering. Good morning to all of you. I am extremely delighted to be a part
00:54:39of today's event. I would like to face my sincere gratitude and appreciation on behalf of USAID
00:54:48to the Apollo Tires Foundation, to the Ranjan Gaon Industrial Association and the Maharashtra State
00:54:54TBE Cell for organizing a focused TB-free transshipment locations campaign. This is a remarkable
00:55:06partnership, public-private partnership that has been put together jointly by the three organizations
00:55:12and can be an excellent model that could be shared with other states and also in other transshipment
00:55:21points. USAID, as many of you know, is part of the U.S. government along with the government of India,
00:55:29the National TB Elimination Program and the Central TB Division. We jointly launched the Scott
00:55:34Trade TV pledge in 2019, almost two years back. When we started this corporate TB pledge, we really didn't
00:55:47think that we will get such a great encouragement from the corporates. We thought many of the companies
00:55:54will just come sign up and do some very basic work. But to our pleasure and satisfaction, we today have
00:56:07about 125 plus companies and most of them are our companies which are at the gold, platinum and diamond
00:56:16level. Apollo Tires, a partner for us in the corporate TB pledge, is a diamond member and has
00:56:23demonstrated how companies can today take on the leadership role to support public health programs
00:56:31with a focus on TB in India. I really wish more and more companies join us in these efforts. Similar
00:56:38to the transshipment locations, TB-free transshipment locations, I think there should be more companies
00:56:45joining and supporting campaigns like TB-free marketplaces, TB-free residential colonies, TB-free
00:56:51bus stands and so on. That's the ultimate way for us to sort of eliminate TB and support the Prime
00:57:02Minister's goal of eliminating TB in India by 2025. TB continues to be the biggest killer disease in
00:57:10India. More than 400,000 Indians die every year due to TB and it simply, easily and simply can be
00:57:19prevented if people diagnosis it in time and get their treatment fully completed for the period of six
00:57:27months or whatever the time that's been prescribed for them. I thank once again this opportunity given to
00:57:35us and wish this program more success and I really request our partners to sort of share these best
00:57:43practices widely with all the industry associations, business associations and request each and
00:57:49every one of you to sort of promote this amongst your member companies as well as your friends and
00:57:55colleagues so that more and more companies are able to join and together to support the TB-free India
00:58:03campaign. Thank you once again and I wish you all the very best.
00:58:06Thank you. Thanks to Mr. Aravind. I think he's very well portrayed the importance of partnership
00:58:14especially among corporates and public-private as well. Thank you so thank you for being with us in
00:58:21this event. Next, we have come to the most important part of the agenda today, chief guest address. Dr.
00:58:29Sundarshan Mandel, DDG, Central TB Division, who has been very supportive in providing his guidance
00:58:37and also very active in the social media front to enhance the spread of awareness in the digital segment.
00:58:44Sir, we are very happy to have you here and the dice is all yours.
00:58:48Good morning everyone. At the outset, I would like to thank the organizers of this webinar
00:58:58and all participants for that time and interest. The national tuberculosis elimination program
00:59:05recognizes the pivotal role that the corporate sector can play in reaching the unreached especially
00:59:12the workers and associated communities while bringing in the domain expertise and simpler solutions to
00:59:20fight TB. As the deadline of eliminating tuberculosis from the country India,
00:59:26India, I mean by 2025 is first approaching, the role of other sectors in the program has become even more
00:59:39critical. If we are to achieve the goal by 2025 as committed by our Honorable Prime Minister, it would need
00:59:48collaboration across all sections of the society. Every citizen needs to work together towards this goal.
00:59:57Recognizing the need of accelerated and sustained action to achieve the target of TB-free India,
01:00:03the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has called for a TB
01:00:07Muth Bharat vision, a Janandalan or People's Movement, which is aimed at generating mass awareness and
01:00:16successful behavioral change of the community. The corporate sector, with its massive reach among the workers'
01:00:24communities can actually contribute to this Janandalan by utilizing the resources for awareness, testing,
01:00:34support, treatment and adherence practices and rehabilitation, etc. I am very happy to see that
01:00:40Appalachers Foundation has been doing a great job with the trackers and helpers community to spread the TB
01:00:49awareness and promote TB testing in 31 locations across 19 states. This event today marks the culmination of
01:00:59third edition of two-week biannual case finding campaign held on 9th September 2021 to 25th September 2021
01:01:11organized by them. We sincerely appreciate Appalachers Foundation's commitment as Diamond
01:01:17Member of the Corporate TB Place in mobilizing more corporates to join in this endeavor. Many of you know
01:01:27that almost 4.4 lakh patients, I mean TB patients die every year and more than 1200 TB patients die every day.
01:01:38So it's a huge death toll as far as a single disease is concerned and most of the deaths you know occur
01:01:47among the young adults in the economically productive age group resulting in high economic and social costs.
01:01:55These challenges necessitate the development of a more cohesive engagement with the corporate and
01:02:02industrial sectors as they need to strategically approach TB at their workplaces and support the employees
01:02:09who are affected by it. The corporate TB place under the IDFIT project of the union is an example where
01:02:18private sector companies have come forward with their commitments and contribution in achieving the
01:02:23national goal for TB elimination. I look forward to more such multi-sector, multi-sector partnerships
01:02:32emerging with both public and private sector working collectively towards the common mission and would
01:02:38take this opportunity to urge all the corporate representatives present here to come forward in support of
01:02:46TB elimination efforts of the country. As a corporate and workplace, we must take the responsibility of
01:02:53educating our employees, workers on TB ensuring periodic screening and working for creating and enabling environment
01:03:03within the companies so that the staff member can get access to the proper TB information and services
01:03:10without any hesitation. The corporate sector can also contribute to this effort by adopting a village or block or town or
01:03:22districts for TB elimination. There are various areas where the organization or the
01:03:27corporate can play a pivotal role like you know that screening of TB in the communities. Second one, the digital
01:03:36technology solutions, the strengthening and supply chain of TB related drugs, supporting innovative
01:03:43interventions for in the TB space and also the nutritional kits or nutritional support to the TB patients.
01:03:52Organizations can also allocate their CSR funds for supporting this mass public awareness as depicted in the TB
01:04:00MOOC Bharat and also encourage your workers for the periodic checkups, recognize their symptoms, referring the suspects for
01:04:11diagnosis, ensuring treatment completion and even treatment also and finally nutritional support for the patients and also for their families.
01:04:20So, continuing the employment relationship and maintaining a stigma and discrimination-free environment at the workplace
01:04:30and that will go a long way in encouraging people to disclose and fight the disease properly.
01:04:38Come, let us join hands and help our nation defeat this menace, this I mean much horrible
01:04:50DG's tuberculosis. TB haraga desjitaga.
01:04:58Thank you sir. Thank you for the wonderful keynote address and expect your support and cooperation in taking this project to the next level.
01:05:05It has been a very interesting and a mix of comic, live polling, keynote addresses, speeches by experts,
01:05:18talks about partnership, experience sharing and so on. It has been a holistic approach for today's event.
01:05:24Now, we have come to the end of the event. Closing remarks by Renika Grover, Head of Sustentity and CSR, Apollotize Limited. Over to you Renika.
01:05:36Thanks Prithvi. Here we are towards the end of yet another stellar campaign. We embarked on our journey starting campaigns with Gujarat. Following on, we took it on in Tamil Nadu and AP and this year it's in the state of Maharashtra.
01:05:52It's been an absolutely amazing campaign so far and the numbers itself reveal this. We've managed to reach out over to black beneficiaries through this campaign and have had 100 positive cases so far, presumptive positive cases, which tells us that how important TB as an emerging health condition is.
01:06:16We're aware that India has the highest incidence rate of tuberculosis, but we're also aware that with COVID, we need to make sure that we give it enough emphasis and enough importance going forward.
01:06:31Whilst we're working on tuberculosis, we have not lost the sight of COVID. In the last two weeks itself, we have managed to provide vaccination to nearly 15,000 beneficiaries based out of trucking community through our centers, which itself is a telling tale as well.
01:06:50All of this has been possible because of the partnership that we fostered in the last few years. I particularly would like to thank the partnership and the support that we've received from the government with regards going forward and working in collaboration with our other corporate partners as well.
01:07:12Without much ado, I would just like to start thanking in terms of no specific order or sequence. I'd like to extend my thank you to Mr. Essendilip, Unit Head CIEL Pune Plant for his opening remarks. It's absolutely marvelous for you to attend and provide the context for this campaign.
01:07:40I'd also like to thank and actually for an overwhelming support from the government, which I mentioned earlier as well. Dr. Sudarshan Mantle, who is also the DDG Central TV Division, I really express gratitude on behalf of Apollo Ties Foundation for providing your support in terms of taking the shape this campaign has taken, but not only just
01:08:10providing support, but propagating it through your social handles as well, but propagating it through your social handles as well. The support that we've received from your division is absolutely amazing. We thank you for that. We have been working in the state of Maharashtra and with the presence of Dr. Ramji Adedkar, a state TV officer of Maharashtra, it's made it even more influential and even more concrete.
01:08:36Dr. Ramji Adedkar, thank you so much for your presence over here and supporting us on this campaign and on this event. Without this, we wouldn't have been able to reach out to the numbers that we are showing today.
01:08:46And we all know how tuberculosis is absolutely an essential health service that we need to provide to the mobile population that we as a Apollo Ties Foundation are servicing to us.
01:09:01Dr. Ramji Adedkar, in addition to the government partnership here, I would also like to thank our corporate partners, without whose support it would have been absolutely difficult to make this event a stellar event the way it is.
01:09:16Dr. Ramji Adedkar, in the last few years, we've had partnerships and we've had real support from our technical partners, the union and USAID.
01:09:28I'd like to thank both of them for being with us since the start of our journey. Thank you to both of you for being supportive and for actually helping us shape this campaign the way it has taken shape.
01:09:43And thank you for your constant support. I'd also like to extend our thank you to our corporate partners, who we started to work through the Gujarat days spoke here.
01:09:56Thank you to Mr. Chetanir Shroff, Director Federation of Kutch Industries Association, and Mr. Pradeep Kumar Ghoshal, Head Environment CSR Sustainability Coastal Gujarat Power Limited.
01:10:12Thank you for your contribution and sharing your stories in the panel discussion. Thank you to our new partners who've joined us recently from the Ranjan Kao Industry Association, Mr. Ravi Chowdhury, Secretary of Ranjan Kao Industries Association.
01:10:34Thank you to you for joining and making this specific campaign more meaningful and addressing the attendees.
