Hello everyone
I am Keerthana, A Psychologist and an Assistant Professor of Psychology.
This video is a small step towards bringing awareness about counseling in simpler terms, so that we don't hesitate to seek help when we need it! We often tend to get influenced by thoughts like seeking help would make us weak. But it indicates that we are strong and resilient.

00:00When you hear counselling, do you think that's only for people with big problems?
00:06That idea is completely wrong.
00:08Counselling is for anyone who feels emotionally stuck, confused or overwhelmed by work, relationship or life in general.
00:18If you are overthinking, feeling drained or struggling to cope,
00:23counselling can help you understand what is happening and find healthy ways to deal with it.
00:30All of us handle stress differently.
00:32The same situation can feel manageable to one person and overwhelming to another.
00:37And there's nothing wrong with that.
00:40Just like how one person eats less because they're not hungry and another eats more because they enjoy it,
00:47our responses are simply different.
00:50They're not right or wrong.
00:52The problem begins when our thinking becomes rigid.
00:55We get stuck in one way of seeing things and start reacting the same way to every situation.
01:03It's like wearing yellow sunglasses.
01:06After a while, everything looks yellow and you forget you even have them on.
01:11A counsellor helps you notice those glasses, look at your situation from new angles and gently loosen those rigid thought patterns.
01:22With time, you begin to see more options, more choices and more flexible ways of responding.
01:29So, life stops feeling like the same story repeated.
01:35Counselling is not about fixing a broken person.
01:39It is about giving you a safe space to understand yourself better, manage stress more effectively and move through life with more ease and self-awareness.
01:48The ideas shared here are drawn from established psychological perspectives on counselling and mental health combined with some personal professional reflections on how people think, feel and change over time.
02:04If any part of this feels familiar, then counselling is not too much for you.
02:09It might be exactly the support you deserve.
