00:00How can an animal help in liberating an individual?

00:04When it comes to animals, they can be very worthy teachers.

00:13Though if one superimposes her imaginations on the animal,

00:25especially in an anthropomorphic way,

00:29so you look at an animal and if you can really observe without your stories

00:40and without superimposing your beliefs and imaginations on the animal,

00:50you will learn a lot about your own animal nature, your own physical self.

00:57So in that way, company of animals can be quite useful.

01:02But that use is more often than not one-sided.

01:07Because we can never be sure whether the animal too is finding our company useful.

01:14Except for cats and dogs, most animals don't really relish human company.

01:25So when we say that animals are great to learn from and can be very useful to us,

01:32we must also ask ourselves whether we are being equally useful to the pet we are keeping.

01:39Attachment is never a pretty thing. Never.

01:44And it's as far from love as possible.

01:49Love and liberation go together, not attachment and liberation.
