00:00You're welcome.
00:02Oh, thank you again for hosting the Christmas dinner
00:05yesterday.
00:05It was our pleasure.
00:07It's always wonderful to have our whole family together,
00:11especially at holiday time.
00:13Ain't no clan like the Baldwin Fisher clan.
00:15Right.
00:17But it's too bad that Gloria passed out so early.
00:22I mean, she missed so many memorable moments.
00:25You know, the eggnog wasn't really that strong.
00:29Well, you have me to thank for that.
00:31I spiked her drink, put a little extra booze in the cup
00:34to make sure the night didn't get out of hand.
00:36You didn't.
00:38It worked, didn't it?
00:39Shame on you.
00:41Shame on you.
00:43OK, come on.
00:44Continue telling me what you started to in the car.
00:48What did Diane ask you to do?
00:54She didn't ask.
00:56She begged that I help them get that AI program away from Victor.
01:00Oh, and?
01:01And I told her to see what I could do.
01:05That sounds very vague.
01:07I'm a lawyer.
01:08I live for loopholes.
01:11I thought about it a lot.
01:14So you're actually considering it?
01:16I hate that program.
01:18I hate that it even exists thanks to Kane.
01:21And I especially hate that Victor, of all the wrong people, got his hands on it.
01:24Yeah, and you know what he's going to do?
01:26He's going to target Chabot the first chance he gets.
01:30And I feel a little guilty that I gave Victor a heads up that Chabot was secretly shutting
01:36down as a defensive maneuver.
01:39Then why did you?
01:41I thought maybe it would convince him to, you know, back off of his cyber attack plan.
01:47You know, maybe he would decide that, you know, it wasn't necessary since Jack was disbanding
01:52the company on his own.
01:55Of course Victor didn't see it that way.
01:58So are you actually going to take Diane up on her request?
02:05It wasn't that long ago that you told me that you wanted to broker peace in Genoa City.
02:12But honestly, do you still think that's even possible?
02:23Go ahead.
02:24Laugh.
02:25I know you want to.
02:26I know it's not the 12-foot fur that you have in your living room.
02:28I am not laughing.
02:29Oh, sure you're not.
02:31It's not exactly the same tradition that we're used to.
02:33But you know what?
02:34That little tree right there did wonders for us.
02:36It's beautiful.
02:37I'm just struck by the irony of it all.
02:40Which is what?
02:41Oh, you are downsizing your Christmas tree at the same time Chabot is downsizing its footprint
02:46to the point that it's almost non-existent.
02:50You've got to do what you've got to do, Jack.
02:52If you and Kyle didn't take Chabot offline to protect it, Victor would have destroyed it.
02:55And we're going to have to spend every penny to rebuild Chabot's image.
02:58We have taken quite a hit.
03:00And now it's snowballing based on Newman Media's blitz of half-truths and negative coverage.
03:05Yeah, and other media outlets have now picked up the story and blown it even more out of proportion.
03:11Which is exactly what Victor would have wanted to happen.
03:14Well, we are doing everything we can to mitigate the situation, but we can't go into this new year without a plan for resolution.
03:20We've got to deal with this crisis and get Chabot back on track.
03:23So what's the strategy?
03:24Well, our IT department is doing everything they can to strengthen the firewall.
03:29We have to make it impregnable before we bring Chabot back online.
03:32And I am doing every interview imaginable.
03:35Just trying to tell them that our situation is a temporary restructuring.
03:40Yeah, I saw that. It's good thinking.
03:42Yeah, we're doing all the damage control we can do, but we still need help.
03:46What about Phyllis's offer?
03:49She's confident that she can get the E.A.I. program from Victor.
03:52Yeah, if anyone can do what she can.
03:55All you've got to do is sign over Marchetti to Summer.
03:57You know what? I'm actually not even opposed to that.
04:00Okay, so what are you opposed to?
04:02Look, we all hate putting our faith in somebody as unpredictable and volatile as Phyllis.
04:09And maybe we won't even need to use her.
04:12What does that mean?
04:14I'm banking on somebody who is trustworthy, who knows what it is to be a loyal friend, who actually has a conscience.
04:21Let me guess, you're talking about Nikki, Jack?
04:24I'm not so sure we can count on her.
04:27I'm not so sure we can count on her.
04:29Go to your markets!
04:31You're talking about Nikki, Jack?
04:32We're talking about Nikki.
04:36You're talking about Nikki!
04:37Go to you!
04:38Go to you!
04:39Go, go!
04:40Go.
04:41Go!
04:42Go!
04:43Go!
04:45Go!
04:49Go!
04:50Go!
04:52Go!
04:53Go!
04:54Go!
04:55Go!
04:56Go!
04:57Clare.
05:17Merry Christmas.
05:19You had a nice one?
05:20Yeah, it was really nice.
05:21I was just looking at some photos that we took my grandparents.
05:23Oh.
05:27Looks like everyone had a nice time.
05:32Except I don't see Nick's family.
05:34They can buy in the morning with gifts for everyone and then went back to Sharon's for a quiet family dinner.
05:38To know it was an accident, they probably wanted to take it easy.
05:44Huh.
05:45What?
05:46I don't see Nicky and Victor in their usual pose in front of the tree.
05:50Isn't that where Victor usually holds a toast about the importance of family?
05:53Yeah, funny you mentioned that.
05:55There was something going on. A little underlying tension.
05:58But of course, they played it off.
06:00Tried to make it seem like there was nothing going on.
06:01Yeah, my dad told me that Nicky was extremely upset about Victor's plan to attack Jabot.
06:06Yeah, it makes me sad.
06:08As much as my grandparents adore each other, this conflict between them, I'm starting to understand it cuts pretty deep.
06:14Victor wasn't so stubborn. This could have been settled by all sides by now.
06:17You think so?
06:19All he needs to do is drop the idea of going after Jabot and my dad, but he'll never do it.
06:25Victor has literally put his hatred for us above everything else.
06:30Even over the love of his own wife.
06:32Sally, you got a minute?
06:49Do you ever think there's going to be a day when we can be in the same place at the same time and not have all this tension between us?
06:56You mean the tension that you created from going after Jabot and the Abbots in the vilest, cruelest way possible?
07:01It was news, Sally. I was just reporting a story like any other.
07:07Okay, you want to talk about stories?
07:10Let's talk about the false narrative that you've been pitching.
07:13How you're a changed man.
07:22That's not fair, Kyle.
07:24My grandfather loves my grandmother more than anything.
07:26In fact, he sees Jack as the obstacle standing in her way of ultimate happiness and safety.
07:32Do you realize how crazy that sounds?
07:35My father saved Nikki's life. Risk has to do it.
07:38That's not how my grandfather sees it.
07:40Yeah, no kidding. Victor is obsessed with the idea of ruining my father's life on every level.
07:44I have a hard time believing that's his ultimate goal.
07:47The man is unhinged.
07:49He needs to be stopped by whatever means necessary.
07:52That's an interesting choice of words.
07:53What's that mean?
07:58There's something that I want to ask you, but I need you to be honest with me.
08:04Okay.
08:05Why did you tell me what my grandfather's trying to do with Jabot?
08:09Because I thought you needed to know.
08:11Because you wanted to enlist my help in getting Victor to back down?
08:13I'll admit, my dad thought it could be useful to have you as an ally.
08:22And you agreed?
08:23Absolutely not.
08:24I made it perfectly clear that I wasn't comfortable with that.
08:26It didn't feel right to put you in that position.
08:29Especially given how delicate things are between us right now.
08:33Thank you for that.
08:34But, if you were to offer to help us, I certainly wouldn't turn you down.
08:44Sally, I run a major media corporation.
08:48So, reporting the news, publishing the facts, I mean, that's my job.
08:52And what's going on with Jabot is undeniable.
08:55You don't know that, Adam.
08:56Because you couldn't bother to call Jack or anyone at Jabot to comment.
09:00Before you just took a few rumors and spun a story to attack them.
09:03You know, I asked Jack to go on the record and correct anything we got wrong, and he passed.
09:08After the fact.
09:10Why would he give your story any traction?
09:12Give Newman Media his exclusive rebuttal?
09:14Well, he didn't deny anything.
09:16And I didn't see any denial on the Abbott Communications site, or did I miss something?
09:20That's because we actually care about not appearing biased.
09:23What is the bias?
09:24We're just stating the facts.
09:26You actually get to stand there and pretend like you're an honorable human being defending journalistic integrity?
09:31But I'm not going to apologize to Billy or any of the Abbott's for telling the truth.
09:36You and the truth have a very complicated relationship.
09:40You're actually defending publishing unverified rumors.
09:44Then again, I guess it didn't matter when you lied to my face when you cheated on me with Chelsea.
09:47Sally, I have apologized to you.
09:52You and Billy for that over and over again.
09:55So many times that I've given up trying to get you to forgive me.
09:59I mean, all I can hope for now is one day you won't feel the need to bring it up every time we disagree about something.
10:03Okay.
10:04So now I'm the unreasonable one.
10:06It's so hard for you to believe that I care about you.
10:09But I do.
10:10You ruined my big night, Adam.
10:12Did it ever occur to you that going after Billy and the Abbott family business on the night when the company that I'm running launches would impact me?
10:20No, you didn't.
10:22Because all you care about is doing your father's bidding.
10:25What makes you think we can't trust Nikki?
10:30I don't expect Nikki to betray Victor like that.
10:33I just don't.
10:34I mean, I get it.
10:35You know, I know she's grateful that you saved her life and you two have a bond.
10:38Yes, we do.
10:39It's very strong and there's lots of history.
10:41Sure, but we're talking about a very deep loyalty here.
10:44I mean, Victor is the love of her life.
10:46Could you imagine the chaos, the fury if she takes action on our behalf?
10:49Victor has been furious with Nikki before they've worked their way through it.
10:51Try to remember, she is the love of his life, too.
10:54You know damn well that he would never forgive her for taking your side over his.
10:59That, I mean, that would not end well.
11:02She knows that.
11:03I'm surprised she didn't even take that chance.
11:08My goals haven't changed.
11:10If I'm going to protect Jack and Diane and the rest of the Abbott's and Victor, even Victor from himself,
11:17I'm going to have to stop this war.
11:19I'm just not sure of the best way to go about it.
11:21What do you think?
11:25Wait a minute.
11:26You're asking me my opinion before you do something you know I'm going to hate?
11:31It's part of my ongoing commitment never to lie to you again about anything I'm planning or doing.
11:38So I am inviting you into this very difficult decision process before I make any moves.
11:47Wow.
11:48This one's a lot of pressure.
11:50No, no, no, no, no, no.
11:51You're not getting off the hook that easily.
11:54You want it in?
11:56Happy New Year.
11:58You're in.
11:59Now tell me what I should do.
12:01Okay.
12:05On one hand, I just hate the threat that this program poses to our friends.
12:10It has to be destroyed before it destroys all of them.
12:13Agreed.
12:14And then on the other side, I mean, if Victor finds out you even have a hand in this,
12:20his outrage is going to be epic.
12:22Like, more dangerous than we've ever seen.
12:24You're probably correct on both points.
12:29So you have to decide what's more of a threat.
12:33An invasive AI program set to decimate the companies of our nearest and dearest.
12:41Or a double-cross Victor Newman.
12:43As much as I love my grandfather, I'm not blind to what he's capable of.
12:56And it's no secret how much he hates Jack,
12:58especially after his unorthodox approach to helping my grandmother in that hotel suite,
13:02even if it saved her life.
13:04Victor's obsession with revenge, it's over the top.
13:06I know, but I still can't get it out of my head that if it weren't for me,
13:09my grandmother wouldn't have turned back to drinking in the first place.
13:11What Jordan and I did was horrible, and look at all the repercussions.
13:15You were a different person.
13:17Back then, you were under the influence of a psychopath.
13:20Still, I mean, that doesn't change the fact that my actions led to the re-ignition of the Newman-Abbott feud.
13:28Something would have triggered their rivalry eventually.
13:32You can't blame yourself for that.
13:34I was a big part of the reason that your dad felt he had to go to such an extreme to help her.
13:38Thank God he did.
13:39I will always be grateful to him for saving my grandmother.
13:45But if I'm being honest, I see it from my grandfather's point of view, too.
13:49Jack took a crazy risk that could have ended very, very badly.
13:53Claire, I know you love your grandfather, and I hate putting this pressure on you.
13:58I'm sorry, Kyle, but I think I should remain neutral.
14:00As much as I want to see this war end for Jabot to be saved,
14:03I don't want to feel like I have to pick sides.
14:10No, I don't consider this move lightly.
14:13I've felt long and hard about how I'll be forced to suffer Victor's wrath for the rest of my life if I help the Abbott's.
14:19We know how brutal that can be.
14:21Over the years, I've had a front row seat to Victor's need for vengeance.
14:27I don't think it would be an exaggeration to call it a doozy, knockout round.
14:34Are you actually considering it?
14:36I don't even know if I could pull it off if I decided to go through with it.
14:42It's finding proof that Victor even has the software is tricky.
14:46I mean, who knows where Victor and his cyber team have stored the damn thing.
14:51This is making me all very nervous.
14:54I mean, as much as you were going to be helping Victor, he is not going to see it that way.
14:58I think we can count on that.
15:00Which makes me want to say run.
15:03Run as far and fast as you can.
15:05But then I realize, who else but you could get close enough to actually pull this off?
15:17Yes, Nikki is devoted to Victor.
15:20And if I had to be honest, that devotion goes both ways.
15:23But Nikki has grown a lot these last few years.
15:27She is no longer content to be in Victor's shadow.
15:29She wants a marriage of equals.
15:31Okay, that's fine.
15:32But do you honestly expect her to go that far to protect Chabot, Jack?
15:36She is not afraid to defy her husband, even when it comes to her friendship with me.
15:41Did she actually say that?
15:42Did she say she's willing to do that?
15:44I will remind you that Victor forbade her.
15:47Demanded that she end her friendship with me after our night in the hotel.
15:53And she flatly refused to.
15:54Fine, he's okay with you to grab an occasional coffee, but you guys are enemies, right?
15:59And he just declared an all-out war.
16:01Totally different.
16:02Nikki is fully aware of the consequences of any action she takes on my behalf.
16:06She's also aware that what her husband is doing is potentially illegal.
16:10And if not illegal, wrong on every front.
16:13Wrong, but is she willing to risk her marriage, her family for it?
16:16She may have looked the other way, turned her back in the past with all of his underhanded, nefarious works.
16:22But I think he's gone too far.
16:25I don't think she will take it anymore.
16:27Let me ask you, what exactly did you ask her to do?
16:30I did not tell her to betray her husband.
16:33I would never put her in that position.
16:34But if she does what you're hoping she does, that would be betrayal.
16:37I simply laid out the facts for her.
16:39And I don't think it's beyond her to stand up to him and do what she knows is right.
16:43Jack, I just don't think you can count on her.
16:46Are you sure you can do that?
16:48Am I sure? No.
16:49No, that's why we have to come at this from all kinds of fronts.
16:53And that's exactly what we're going to do.
16:56So that's what this is about.
16:57It's about the Abbey Communications launch.
17:00Damn straight.
17:02I had no intention of hurting you.
17:05But you knew that it would hurt Billy.
17:08You wanted it to.
17:09You knew that it would upstage our launch.
17:11You timed it perfectly so that it would.
17:14And yet you stand here and pretend like you still care about me.
17:16And you say that you want us to be able to be in the same room with no tension.
17:20Yeah, I didn't think that it had anything.
17:21But see, that's the problem, Adam.
17:23You don't think when it comes to Billy.
17:26Or Victor.
17:27Or your impulses in general.
17:28You don't.
17:28You just react.
17:30I'm sorry, but you claim to be a kinder, gentler man.
17:33I just don't.
17:33I don't buy it.
17:34Listen, wait a minute.
17:35Sally, look.
17:35I know that I have hurt you deeply from what happened between us.
17:43And I don't blame you for questioning my character.
17:45But I promise you that I have tried to learn from that mistake and grow.
17:50I mean, come on.
17:50You have to have seen that.
17:52You have to believe me.
17:53I mean, with Kana.
17:54Okay.
17:55Please don't use your son in that way.
17:57I would never use my son.
17:59I know that you have had to step up and deal with your son's illness.
18:08And I have tried my hardest to forgive what happened between you and Chelsea for that exact reason.
18:15And you've done a really good job.
18:17I love Connor.
18:19And I'm really happy that he's doing so well.
18:23And I do admire the way that you have helped him through it.
18:25But I have also seen these other changes that you claim to have made.
18:31And I'm telling you, they're not for the better.
18:34I don't know what you're talking about.
18:37I just...
18:38Okay.
18:40Well, Adam...
18:42Then let me spell it out for you.
18:47It's really hard for me to accept the man that I knew.
18:54Who I loved.
18:56Could be so unapologetically and intentionally destructive.
19:01The way you went after Jabot in that article, just ripping into it.
19:05It's not even about the Abbott family legacy.
19:07It's about the other people that work there.
19:09Innocent people.
19:10Who just happened to get caught in this stupid battle.
19:14And you hurt me.
19:16Again.
19:18I don't know what's worse.
19:19The fact that you were intentionally cruel.
19:21Or the fact that you didn't even think about it.
19:23You were thoughtless.
19:24Sally.
19:24No, Adam, look.
19:26I know that I've hardly led the perfect life.
19:28Okay?
19:28I have made plenty of mistakes of my own.
19:31At least when we were together, you had a conscience to guide you.
19:36And I still do.
19:37Man, the fact that you don't see it is heartbreaking.
19:44When we were together, you tried everything to resist your father's pull.
19:47To be your own man.
19:49But now, I'm just starting to think you're becoming exactly like him.
19:54And as someone who still cares about you because of everything we've shared,
19:58I really hate to see it.
20:00In the end, when it comes to Nikki standing by her wrong-headed husband or doing what she
20:13knows in her heart is right, I believe she will do the right thing.
20:16What if she doesn't?
20:17I am not pinning all of our hopes solely on Nikki.
20:20That's why we have other options.
20:22Okay.
20:22That brings us back to Phyllis.
20:24Yeah, I've been thinking about that.
20:25None of us like trusting Phyllis.
20:28And now that she's made her demand, I don't know, something gnaws at me.
20:32What?
20:33I just find it completely unbelievable that she wants nothing for herself.
20:38That alone makes me question her terms.
20:40I hear you.
20:40Phyllis and Selfless, they don't go together.
20:43But I will say she would do anything for her family.
20:45Yeah, maybe.
20:46But there could still be another ulterior motive.
20:49Like?
20:49Who knows what she'll do.
20:51She may get us to hand Marchetti over to Summer and then use the program to get whatever she
20:55wants for herself, then give it to us.
20:57Or worse still, she may never hand it over to us at all.
21:01And just so you know, the Abbots are holding strong, despite the brutal attack from Newman
21:07Media.
21:08And they're not letting the threat hanging over them from your father scare them.
21:12I'm not aware of any threat.
21:14Come on, Adam.
21:15We both know that Victor has Kane's AI software.
21:17He's already used it to destroy Arabesque, and you know Jabot is next.
21:20All right, well, if we're going to speculate about criminal activity, why don't we talk about
21:23how Jack quietly emptied out the Jabot bank accounts?
21:26I mean, it kind of seems pretty fishy to me.
21:28There it is.
21:28That's exactly what I'm talking about, about you becoming more like Victor.
21:31It wasn't the insult that you think it is.
21:34Okay, yes, I respect and admire the old man.
21:38I mean, especially his unwavering devotion to his family.
21:42And yet, when we were together, you fought so hard to resist Victor's pull.
21:46You bristled at his demands of you to do exactly what you just did to Jabot.
21:52Well, that was then.
21:54Okay, there's a lot you don't know about where things stand now and what we're facing.
21:57Okay, well, what I do know is that you despise Billy.
22:01And what I also know is that you consider Jack a friend.
22:04How could you so callously help to destroy him?
22:07Sally, I swear to you, I am not out to hurt Jack.
22:11This is strictly business.
22:13You may be the CEO of Newman Media and calling shots on that level.
22:18But you have to admit that this shot, aimed directly at the heart of Jabot, is coming straight from Victor.
22:27Everything that Newman Media publishes comes from unimpeachable sources and sound business decisions.
22:32Do you even hear yourself?
22:35Are you so thoroughly back under Victor's thumb that you actually believe that party line?
22:41Do you even want to be your own man? Is that even possible?
22:45Or is that too much to ask?
22:50As much as I hate what's going on...
22:52Claire, it's fine. It's fine. I don't want to put any pressure on you.
22:55I know you love your grandfather.
22:57Even though you don't love everything he does, you still shouldn't be put in this position.
23:01Thank you for understanding.
23:04Besides, I doubt anyone could convince Victor to back down at this point, so let's change the subject.
23:09Let's talk about something else. Anything else.
23:13Please.
23:14Um, how was your Christmas?
23:16It was nice, too.
23:18Even under the circumstances.
23:20Understandably, the Abbott household is tense right now.
23:23Yeah, I can imagine.
23:24You know, no one knows how all of this will play out, so...
23:28No offense, but I don't feel sorry.
23:31About any tension swirling around the Newman household, given Victor's actions.
23:35Well, I hope that Harrison's Christmas was merry and completely untainted by what's going on.
23:41Fortunately, he was blissfully ignorant to the war raging around him.
23:47The Newmans are holding a post-Christmas celebration at the ranch next week for Harrison and all of his cousins.
23:51I'm aware. Are you going to be there?
23:53Mrs. Martinez is going to take him. I figured it'd be less awkward.
23:58Frankly, I don't think I could face Victor right now.
24:01Well, I'm glad that Harrison's going to go.
24:03He missed spending Christmas with his mom, so it's important he spends time with her family.
24:09By the way, he very much liked the gift you got him.
24:12Oh, really? I was hoping so.
24:13Yeah, it was perfect. You really know how to put a smile on his face.
24:16Claire. Kyle.
24:24You, uh, you didn't eat without me, did you?
24:34You are accusing me of being biased.
24:38Of being under the influence of someone who's blinding me to the truth.
24:42Are you sure that's not you that's doing that, Sally?
24:46I mean, come on. Do you think the Abbots are innocent victims in all of this?
24:49I haven't even really talked to Jack about any of this.
24:51No, I'm not talking about Jack.
24:53He's not the one that's got you turned around.
24:55It's Billy.
24:57Right. Of course. I should have known where this was going.
24:59Uh, yeah.
25:00It's obvious that he's talked you into believing all the lies that he keeps telling himself.
25:05Okay. The only difference is, unlike some people, Billy actually has changed.
25:09He's putting me first in our relationship and in our business.
25:12Well, he talked you into leaving a successful career in fashion, a career you're very passionate about.
25:17You're at the top of your game, Sally.
25:20All of that to support him. How is that putting you first?
25:23You did the exact same thing to Chelsea, so that argument does not work.
25:27But you are right. I am damn good at my job.
25:30And together, Billy and I are going to make Abbott Communications succeed.
25:33You know, you keep reminding me how well you know me, but don't forget, I know you pretty well, too.
25:38And all of this talk about the personal and professional thing with Billy, I don't buy it.
25:44Okay, you're trying too hard to sell it.
25:48I bet, deep down, you were worried that the new Billy Abbott is just another scam.
25:53And the old Billy is going to come back in full force.
25:58Just watch your back around Billy itself.
26:02Okay, I know you think he's changed, but he hasn't. Trust me.
26:05And he doesn't like playing second fiddle to anyone. Not even a woman he's living with.
26:10Okay, you don't have a clue about Billy, or me.
26:13There's one thing I know for sure, that man is incapable of change.
26:16Okay, can we not do this, especially around the holidays?
26:19Yeah, thank you, Chelsea. Actually, I would love to let it go.
26:21I'm all for peace and goodwill toward men.
26:23This war between the Newmans and the Abbott's really needs to end.
26:26I'm sure we can all agree on that.
26:28Are you?
26:29Why don't you ask Adam why he used Newman Media to launch a missile against Jabot and the Abbott's?
26:35Perhaps you can weigh in on that.
26:40Trust me, Jack, I've thought about all of that, okay?
26:42And you're right. Phyllis is duplicitous.
26:45But it's my opinion that the AI software is better in Phyllis' hands than Victor's.
26:49We know what he's going to do. He's going to target us.
26:51Exactly. We know what to expect with old moneybags. Phyllis is a wild card.
26:56That's exactly my point. If Phyllis has the AI software, we can talk to her.
27:00Hopefully we can convince her to do the right thing with it.
27:03Billy, she runs hot and cold with just about everyone. She is wildly impulsive.
27:07Who knows what she will do with a weapon that dangerous?
27:11She just, the thought of it lends itself to all kinds of dangerous scenarios.
27:15I just don't think we can trust Nikki. I think the loyalty runs too deep with Victor,
27:18so I'm not willing to let go of this option with Phyllis. Not yet.
27:22We have other plans.
27:24Yeah.
27:24We just got to make sure one of them comes through.
27:28It will.
27:30That AI software needs to be in our control, Jack.
27:33And then we're agreed. We need to destroy it. Right?
27:36Yes.
27:38Absolutely. We destroy it.
27:41I should go.
27:42Um, Kyle, I'd like to come by and see Harrison, if that's okay for you.
27:46You know, I don't know how the day is going to shape up, so you should probably call first.
27:49Or maybe just wait for Mrs. Martinez to bring him by the ranch and you can see him then.
27:53Okay. Enjoy your breakfast.
27:58I hope me showing up didn't cause problems.
28:01Excuse me a minute. I'll be right back.
28:02Didn't you just love the little beanies that Bella and Miles were wearing yesterday?
28:16Yes. They were adorable.
28:18I crocheted them myself.
28:20No. I almost didn't finish them in time.
28:24Oh, they're so darling. I mean, I could sell them at Fenmore's.
28:28Oh, Lauren, thank you. What a lovely offer. But, but you know what? With my two jobs and helping Chloe with the kids, my calendar is really full. I don't think I could add possibly one more thing.
28:43No apology necessary. Honestly.
28:47Well, nothing against Gloria, but Chloe prefers that I be the grandma to help with the kids. Um, no offense, Mike.
28:55Oh, none taken.
28:57Oh, maybe it's because she trusts me not to get drunk and, and pass out during family dinners. Maybe.
29:04My mother's not a drunk. She's just high on life.
29:12Just our luck. My brother's decided to marry into a family as crazy as ours.
29:17Come on. You're the one with the crazy family.
29:20Maybe I should agree to help the Abbots.
29:22So you've made up your mind?
29:24Yeah, then when Victor discovers what I've done, he'll be so angry that I'll be forced to go into hiding, and then you and I can flee to some tropical island under assumed identities, and...
29:34Never deal with these nutty people again.
29:37You would hate that.
29:39As much as you hate this AI dilemma that you're facing.
29:43It is quite the dilemma, isn't it?
29:46Someone has to get the program away from Victor.
29:52So I should go for it.
29:54It just terrifies me what could possibly happen if he finds out that you were part of it.
30:00So, no then.
30:02No.
30:03You simply have to do it so he never finds out.
30:11You're still the COO of Newman Media, right?
30:14Did you approve going for the jugular?
30:16No one's going for anyone's throats here, Sally.
30:19Okay.
30:19You should know by now that when you go scorched earth, everyone gets burned.
30:22There is no scorched earth, Sally.
30:25And there is no threat against your beau.
30:27It's pure paranoia on Jack's part.
30:29Okay.
30:29Well, you know, I guess you should just take your word for it since you're all about the truth now.
30:32You know, and let's not forget that we also have a media company that we can weaponize to.
30:41Avid Communications is just as capable of publishing the hard truths about your family's businesses.
30:45Sally's right.
30:54I can't keep pretending like everything is okay, madam.
30:58I've had enough.
31:00I hate everything that is going on right now, and I don't want to be a part of it anymore.
31:07Claire, wait.
31:08Hey, I'm sorry.
31:09Okay?
31:09I know how tough this is on you.
31:11Claire, Claire.
31:11It's fine.
31:12I get it.
31:12It is crystal clear.
31:14What is?
31:14This is what you want right now.
31:17It's okay.
31:18I just can't do this anymore.
31:20I'm done thinking I can change your mind, and I am tired of trying to make things right between us.
31:25You need to live your life, and I need to get back to living mine.
31:28What are you saying?
31:29I'm saying that with everything my family is going through right now, they need all my focus and attention.
31:38Okay.
31:38We had some good moments, Claire, but obviously it wasn't meant to be.
31:44Look, I genuinely hope you find happiness.
31:49Whatever else you're searching for.
31:50Okay.
32:08If you're thinking of the best way I can do this and get away with it, you've already decided to let me go through with it.
32:29Look, if this is the only way to end this Newman-Abbott war, then yes, I'm on board.
32:35So, can you look into it, see if it's even possible?
32:39I hate to have to say it, but in the service of the greater good, I'm going to have to be duplicitous as hell.
32:47In what way?
32:49I'm going to have to be closer to Victor than I've ever been.
32:53If you go this far to deceive him, and he finds out, there's going to be no coming back.
33:05Hey.
33:06Hi.
33:06How's the gym?
33:07It was great.
33:09Until I ran into Adam and Chelsea.
33:11Can you believe that he actually had the nerve to deny that Victor is threatening Jabot?
33:16I can't believe Adam is throwing our friendship out the window.
33:19He is part of Victor's revenge plot.
33:21Jack, that's your first mistake.
33:22Adam doesn't know what it means to be a friend.
33:24He doesn't understand the concept.
33:26He's a tool in Victor's arsenal.
33:27That's it.
33:28Well, I think Adam is caught between how he really feels and how Victor's telling him to do that.
33:31I don't feel sorry for that guy.
33:33Oh, I don't feel sorry for him.
33:34I'm furious at the way he published that article on our big night, but the degree to which he's defending the move?
33:39I've seen that behavior before.
33:40He's tying himself in knots trying to justify doing Victor's bidding.
33:43Sally, Adam will cut our throats if Victor tells him to do it.
33:49You don't want to be a part of what anymore?
33:51Following Victor into this all-out war against Jabot and the Abbots.
33:55If you are going to continue to let your father use our company as some kind of an attack missile, you can count me out.
34:02I will not hesitate to walk away from Newman Media.
34:11Hello, Holden.
34:13Where's your little girlfriend run off to?
34:14Give it a rest, Audra.
34:16I can tell you're looking for trouble, and I don't have time for your games.
34:19Oh, and I don't have time for yours.
34:21Where is she?
34:22I saw her come in here.
34:23Oh, is she in the powder room, drawing her little weepy eyes?
34:27What's it to you?
34:29You know, I was just concerned about you after that little drama I witnessed out in the breezeway.
34:34I mean, Kyle couldn't get away from you.
34:35Shut up, Audra.
34:36I am warning you.
34:37You do not want to cross me right now.
34:53Son, you okay?
35:02I just made a decision that changed my life.
35:05Aw, what's wrong?
35:17Someone having a bad day?
35:19Mourning you, Audra.
35:20Back off.
35:22Not when you need a shoulder to cry on.
35:24You know, it must be so awkward getting dumped by one boyfriend when your other one is just a few feet away about to order you a sunrise vest.
35:30You know what's awkward, Audra, is you always chiming in with your unsolicited two cents.
35:35What happened?
35:35Did you smell blood in the water and now you're going to sink your claws into Kyle?
35:39I don't give a rat's ass about Kyle.
35:42Then why are you even talking to me?
35:45You know, are you so heartless that you don't feel some guilt for the way you've been playing both these men?
35:49Next week on The Young and the Restless.
36:10You think we can have a real date?
36:12Maybe even, I don't know, maybe ring in the new year together.
36:16I think that could be arranged.
36:18And are on condition.
36:21I'm just going to spend New Year's Eve alone.
36:24There's no one else I'd rather be with.
36:26I was wondering if you had the guts to show up.
36:28Oh, I wouldn't miss this little party for all the worlds.
36:30Join us again for The Young and the Restless.
36:57New Year's Eve Moon.
37:01New Year's Eve!
37:04New Year's Eve!
37:05New Year's Eve!
