00:40Ganbare Genki was originally written by Yu Koyama and aired for a total of 35 episodes between 1980 and 1981.
00:53The story begins with a father and boy driving together along a country road.

01:36That night, as the entertainment begins, challengers enter the ring one after another, but as they leave the ring without even being able to fight, a thug-like challenger enters the ring.
01:48One of the challengers has boxing experience and ends his entertainment part-time job by taking down to avoid a fight.
01:58Later, Genki, still angry, picks a fight with the thugs, so my father has no choice but to brush them off, and the next day the two of them head off to Tokyo.
02:10In Tokyo, while his father waited for his opponent to be decided, Genki became famous overnight at a boxing tournament sponsored by a television station.

However, his wild fighting instincts were awakened, and he defeated rivals one after another, eventually rising to the point where he faced his arch-rival, Kenji Seki, for the world championship.
04:29Hideki Horiguchi is Genki's father and an unsuccessful professional boxer who goes by the ring name Shark Horiguchi.
04:36After Genki's mother passed away, he stopped boxing for a while, but when Genki was old enough to understand things, he started boxing again.
04:48However, after his fight with Seki Kenji, he passed away due to excessive weight loss and the unknown date of the fight, but even after his death, he had a great influence on Seki and his spirit.
05:01Ashikawa Yuko is the heroine of this work and Genki's homeroom teacher at elementary school.

08:51Katsuzo Yamatani is a flyweight boxer who belongs to Maruyama Boxing Gym.
09:00His main job was as a clerk at a dry cleaner's that also visited Genki's parents' house, but even after switching to a professional job, he retired after five years without making any real value.

10:24Also, before this work was aired on television, a radio drama starring Hiromi Go as Genki was broadcast on Nippon Broadcasting's All Night Japan in 1977.
10:38Furthermore, in the same year, to commemorate the founding of Shonen Sunday, a stage production was held in which Tagawa Yosuke played the role of Genki.

12:20However, Genki regains his composure and begins shadowboxing next to Mishima, who is writhing in pain. For a moment, Mishima regains his composure, as if the pain has disappeared. However, after a while, he quietly passes away.
12:40Seeing this scene, Genki runs out of the hospital and just keeps running in the rain, and before he knows it, he has arrived at an unfamiliar train station.
12:50Genki was lost in thought for a while, but when he returned to the hospital, he happened to witness Yamatani's wife, who was hospitalized at the same hospital, giving birth.
