00:00After weeks of talks between Kiev and Washington, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will meet with Donald Trump in Florida on Sunday as the two signaled they could reach a diplomatic breakthrough in the last hours of 2025.
00:14The meeting is the culmination of weeks of high-level diplomacy between the two delegations.
00:19While stopping over in Halifax, Canada, where he met with Canadian President Mark Carney, President Zelensky also held a call with European leaders, including European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
00:32Von der Leyen said the goal was to secure a just and lasting peace that preserves Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
00:41According to Zelensky, the security guarantees agreement between Ukraine and the U.S. is almost ready and the negotiating teams have prepared initial drafts of several documents that will be discussed.
00:54In the run-up to the talks, Russia launched yet another massive missile and drone strike on the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, on Saturday, killing two people and injuring dozens.
01:05According to Zelensky, the latest attack on Kiev shows President Vladimir Putin doesn't want peace.
01:14On the night of Saturday into Sunday, Russia launched nearly 50 drones in an overnight attack on Ukraine.
01:21As one man was killed by a bomb in his garden in the Donetsk region, five other people were injured in attacks on the Kherson region.
01:30Dozens of firefighters in the southern region of Odessa tried to save people's homes after a residential building was struck by a drone.
01:40Meanwhile, an infrastructure facility in the northern Sumi region was hit twice, the second time rescuers were at the scene, according to Ukrainian officials.
01:51An unusual agreement on a temporary ceasefire at the Russian-occupied Zaporizhia nuclear power plant was reached between Ukraine and Russia to allow repairs and prevent a potential nuclear accident.
02:06Moscow released footage saying it shows artillery units firing at Ukrainian positions in an undisclosed location in the Donetsk region.
02:16Meanwhile, Ukraine hit Russia's Samara region, Cizran oil plant, with a wave of drones, and several Russian military sites in occupied Ukrainian territory, according to a Ukrainian official.
02:29The first of three phases of voting has finished in Myanmar in an election that calms nearly five years after the military seized power in a coup.
02:41Polling began on Sunday with reports of explosions and airstrikes across multiple regions in the country.
