00:00I'm just looking at resumes because we're going to do 10,000 ounces this year and we have a lot
00:24to do so you need good people that you can count on the truth is somebody can write a really good
00:32resume and be terrible 30 year old parker schnabel is leaning on his crew like never before after
00:40years of running the cuts himself he's testing his top lieutenant's ability to lead mitch and
00:47brennan are getting sulfur ready to go we'll have the wash plant firing up there very soon
00:51we have two wash plants already running here on dominion bob and slucifer
01:00two weeks into the season and with only 400 ounces parker wants his 40-person crew firing on old
01:09cylinders to bring in a big haul this week and put him on track for his 10 000 ounce season goal we do
01:17have a big crew this year you know a bunch of new people tyson has a lot of training to do people
01:24need to understand what the expectations are and when they're doing things wrong and if they can't
01:28correct it then we just we need to get rid of it which is always a challenge
01:37parker's given me more and more responsibility this year from last year it's probably about three times as
01:44much we have so many new people and with parker still expecting more than double productivity
01:53as last year that's a large ask from a lot of new people parker's charged rising star tyson lee
02:02with overseeing the huge dominion creek operation where two cuts are already producing gold
02:08the bridge cut and the recently opened golden mile which parker believes could deliver big numbers
02:17if the crew keeps it running
02:21hopefully the new people have an understanding of what we expect and what we need out of them
02:26here as a mining outfit and we're figuring out their caliber
02:30right now we have michael digging pay down by bob and the bridge cut the cuts looking hella nice
02:39clearly parker's not around he's going for a big season this year the size of his operation that's
02:45massive new recruit mike thompson is a veteran gold miner with years of experience operating heavy
02:53machinery so i did five years at a neighbor mine park offered me this job and very hard to say no to
03:00tyson's also relying on another new hire to keep the bridge cut gold coming in i have amy learning how
03:07to run loader right now she's feeding bob and i want to throw a bunch of stuff at her with the wash plant
03:14so for the last three days i have been doing some training and today is my first day on my own
03:38going from being a teacher just half a month ago it's going to be a big transition
03:49greenhorn amy lee traded a career as a science teacher to become a gold miner
03:57taylor and tatiana are my besties tatiana actually trained me in a rock truck which was amazing we had
04:05such a good time and then on day two they just let me loose on my own and that was that after proving
04:13herself tyson is putting amy in charge of one of the most important jobs feeding pay dirt into the wash
04:20plant how's it going amy good you pretty good good how you finding things now that i've gotten over a
04:31little bit of the fear after a couple hours it's getting better that's good i'd like to do a once
04:37over the plant with you and just kind of give you some things to look at awesome so there's this tail
04:42drum up here so you can see how it's nice and clean yeah that's how it should always be yeah if
04:48the belt walks left or right that can be an issue when you're feeding the wash plant a rock gets stuck
04:54on the belt and i've had it cut the belt clean in half like a razor blade before yeah if you think
05:01something is wrong yeah just shut it down okay let's run up here yeah open this rip on this
05:09that's the breaker then run up there open the bypass close the main any questions not at this moment
05:17just to spawn yeah let me just absorb yeah you absorbed it all still a little bit like holy yeah
05:24oh you'll get it all righty we'll make us some gold okay fun
05:31when you think of all the responsibility you have and you're the sole person of watching the plant it
05:39plays on your mind a little bit
05:41i'm really happy with amy i can't wait to see what she can do this season
05:50hey tyson you on here tyson yep go ahead yeah i got a pretty big up here can you come have a look
05:56i'm getting flooded out i'm on my way last thing i want to do is tell parker that the cut's flooded
06:04and we got to shut bob down man that's a lot of melt water that's not what i needed man
06:14we have a lake in here we spend so much time getting the bridge cut drain it's getting flooded
06:19out again the water's backing up the ditch line of the cut i'm thinking that eight inch culvert's not
06:26big enough oh yeah we need to rattle your hoe over and dig up this road we got that big old culvert up
06:31there so let's throw that puppy in let's uh get this water out here
06:40so we got to get this water out because right now the only pay we can truck to bob
06:45is in this square if it's flooding out bob's gonna shut down
06:50as the 114 acre bridge cut thaws melt water seeps into its drainage ditches where it is then
06:57channeled through an eight inch culvert under bob's only access road but the narrow culvert is
07:05overwhelmed by the volume of melt water causing the ditches to overflow and flood the cut to stop the
07:12flood mike must dig up the access road and replace the small culvert with a much larger 36-inch culvert
07:21then rebuild the road to wash plant bob
07:27i'm gonna take the small little eight inch culvert up and let the water go if i don't hurry up and
07:32get this water figured out bob's gonna run out of pain that's bad news you ain't sluicing you ain't producing
07:38so here comes some water boys
07:52let's go get this culvert let's the only thing i got kicking around here so hopefully i can do the job
08:08throw her in
08:12there send it
08:13there's one way to put a culvert in
08:21see if this bank falls out on me that could suck eh
08:36oh meat this is sketchy man anybody bring some extra undies
08:43uh i can safely say that culvert's in place i'm pretty proud of this i feel pretty good
08:54mike saved the day that was fun that was exciting nice work mike yeah
09:00she's porking right on see you got that done tyson's happy pretty proud of myself pretty happy it was
09:09what what an hour hour and five minutes we got her done well you know michael sure stepped up to the
09:16plate and saved the day he got that culvert in got all the water leaving us he executed it perfectly
09:22we just got to keep the gold coming in
09:36gold prices are up there so we decided to get with the program right out of the bed
09:53we were the first ones sluicing in the yukon
09:56the early board cut is done so now we're going to expand it 10 miles southwest king of the klondike
10:05tony beats has already mined out his first cut
10:09holding in 632 ounces of his 6 500 ounce target
10:15since we had a nice early start now the trick is going to be a stay ahead of the game so we can't let
10:28up after a hot start on his indian river claim tony's nearly out of pay dirt and he needs to open
10:39more ground at the early bird cut fast so what i want to do is strip here 100 feet wide all the way
10:50to the other end so they can take all this gravel load it up dump it in the old cut so
10:56we get people on the go down here just like parker tony's also relying on a crew of new recruits
11:04to get the job done we're going to have another 40 more people this year so you got to make do
11:11with whatever you can get and then hope it turns out okay well this is my first year here who wouldn't
11:19want to come to the yukon and work i love it here i love the chaos we've got a lot of equipment packed
11:27in in here weaving together rock truck drivers tyler swan and sam moore are part of an all-new
11:34crew tasked with getting the early bird extension down to pay in just one week i'm pretty new to
11:42gold mining i've only been at this for a little over a month now and there's very rarely a dull moment
11:50tony's approach throw the newbies in at the deep end and hope they can swim get the out of the way and
11:58get another rock truck that out of the way so this will get out of the way make some room
12:04i mean you got two trucks if they can't find their own way this rock truck come back in there
12:14andrew make sure you don't drive over the pipeline
12:16see you know what i mean the bucket is all over there truckers away the ball with us
12:23you see where the bucket is young fella look at me me how come you never answer your radio
12:34don't okay get him a radio crazy this crazy i want you underneath the bucket hey oh
12:41it was pretty sparse on training here and then off into the deep end can be a little bit stressful
12:56back it up a bit back it up a bit
13:04pretty tight spot we're working in we've got a bit of a bend to turn around here
13:08now we're all in this together and you have about eyes on everything
13:21sam has just toppled one of tony's essential 300 000 rock trucks jacob i'm gonna need some help
13:31jacob do you copy jacob
13:38do you copy jacob
14:06all right go ahead my truck sort of tipped over here my box gave way under the bank
14:14uh we're gonna need some help yeah for sure i'll be your turn
14:18oh that you got
14:21what the is he doing
14:28at indian river tony's racing to extend his cut down to pay
14:33before wash plant sluice a lot's pay pile runs out but rookie driver sam has flipped his rock truck
14:41bringing the operation to a halt
14:43the game plans uh go up to use the 480 if it'll pull it and hook onto the high point of the box and
14:54pull it back over on the right side up all right let's go flip this truck over
14:59rushing to the rescue his heavy equipment operator jacob moore
15:08hopefully it comes over nicely
15:24nice and easy
15:25drive ahead very slowly
15:41all right everything went smooth and properly done
15:45we're back on the road now so hopefully we didn't lose too much time
15:51and i'm feeling a little bit stressed about what tony will think
15:57all right 70 copy 70 copy do you solve a favor and do that one more time and then you're out of here
16:03you know there's a couple down there you do it once you're in you do it twice you're out so pay
16:09attention with you please
16:32i'm definitely back in the corner at this point i've got all this ground that i just finished paying off
16:36and no water license to be able to mine it and it's just like it's there taunting me
16:40really this has left me with no other choices but to move on
16:44100 miles east of tony rick ness hasn't mined a single ounce of gold
16:51forced to abandon a pile of pay and the richest ground he's ever mined at his duncan creek claim
16:59rick's committed his entire operation to gamble on new land
17:03at the end of the day i had to make a deal with troy in lightning creek you know i have to do
17:08something before we lose out on that even and there's people snooping around for for
17:12ground with licenses on it everywhere and i can't afford to wait any longer
17:18last week i'm here to make a deal rick met with landowner troy taylor 15 royalty payment we're
17:25going to do a hundred ounce payment and we can get started out there right away made a handshake
17:29deal to lease lightning creek and moved his entire mining operation eight miles northwest
17:37well we're at lightning creek we're going to go and hit this as hard as we can
17:45this year you know gold price is once again record high so we got about 100 ounces a week to get by the
17:50end of the year if we're going to get to 1800 ounces so we're really going to get a move on
17:54we've broken ground down at lightning creek plenty of challenges ahead of us this is new ground we got
18:00to learn time to get on some gold rick's opened the diamond cut and is depending on his crew to
18:10locate the pockets of gold rich pager in this notoriously unpredictable area
18:32the diamond cuts go definitely going a good speed but at the start of any cut it takes some time to get
18:37prepped up this ain't bad it may seem frivolous that we're just moving dirt from point a to point b
18:44but this is what we need to do efficiency is key not going to lie this is a good day
18:50i just want to make sure i'm keeping up with the pace because at the end of the season i want a big
18:55gold bonus so you know whatever it takes to get down to pay and start moving it is what i'll do
19:08what the hey ricky can you hear me what's up mate i think we're down two paid
19:24guy get over here
19:25look at that you ever seen pay dirt pay dirt that's what it is right there boulders and gravels
19:38pay dirt is gravelly and rocky gold bearing material that lies beneath the waste topsoil known as
19:46overburden that's with the gold in it right yeah let's look at it that looks good that whole floor
19:54down there that's the pay dirt we're looking for that came quick when we don't have to go down 150
19:57feet hey just eating this area right here yeah it's bigger than peck is found i know i know that's
20:02exciting and that should make for quick stripping and then we've got below that according to troy
20:09anywhere is 12 to 15 feet of pay yeah so put the overburden where it wants to go and we'll have
20:14a good amount of pay dirt exposed here in no time let's get back on the gold let's do it let's do it
20:19we're already down to pay you know i'm not used to that we're used to going 100 some feet
20:22through overburden just to get to it and it's nice that it's so shallow here um bailey's doing
20:26a great job trucks are moving dirt sun's out good day with the team on the pay layer rick tasks
20:35the crew with stripping the entire diamond cut compared to like rick's claims it's a huge difference
20:42because we're moving about 160 feet worth of overburden and over here it's you know five feet
20:48it's my first time seeing pay once we get that through the sluice box and through the plant it'll
20:55be good to see the actual gold while the team works rick takes a moment to make his handshake
21:01deal with troy official and sign the lease
21:08ridiculous kind of reading through it i don't i just don't like some of the stuff i'm seeing
21:14oh yeah hey z you got a copy yeah go ahead let's see why don't you come over here and i'll show you
21:23something what's up buddy you're gonna make me read no i've got an updated agreement with troy he's
21:39given himself an awful lot of power i think well how it works is that he i i have to submit my
21:43mining plan to him and then he decides how it works right that says that he shall have access to the
21:49equipment and or personnel at his discretion well that means to me that means yeah on a tuesday
21:54he come and shut down the sluice box i think it's a bit of an overreach i just don't you i always assumed
22:00when you lease the ground then you get to do with what you want like how your mining plan is and this
22:05sounds like this sounds like you signed a lease and then he has all the power i don't know what
22:09the angle is there i don't know if there is an angle at this point i'm just i'm waiting to stumble
22:13around a corner and find them like this like whoa i pulled the you know what i mean like stupid
22:17like that gets your wheels turning right let's just read over the contract a little bit more
22:24we're down here we're keep plugging away yeah yeah no i really said i appreciate it screw my head
22:29on straight make sure that this deal is in our favor and keep on trucking keeps everyone here thanks
22:34buddy all right we'll talk to you see you at dinner yeah yeah what the is this if i fail
22:47to make a payment a minimum of twenty thousand dollars every month it may terminate this agreement
22:53within three business days even when i'm not producing gold now i'm on the hook for 20 grand a
22:58month when i look at this the more i'm saying it's not a chance in hell i'm signing this i don't know why
23:04he's putting all this extra here it's just not uh it's not sitting right with me i've worked with
23:08troy for a while and i trust the guy but it's fishy that i just paid him off and now we're going back and
23:14suddenly he's got more ground for us and we're not paying him again you know i'm kind of thinking he
23:19might be using my lack of options to turn things in his favor rick has already spent over forty thousand
23:28dollars in fuel and wages mining lightning creek but it could be all for nothing i'm trying to stay
23:37calm but i'm getting pretty riled up about it because i'm already down there working um i've got money
23:42into this i've got i've got guys down there i've got equipment down there um and i'm not stopping uh
23:47but i'm not signing this so he's gonna have to change his change his way of thinking because that's
24:02that's right now we have two wash plants running they have a little bit of time to do a lap of going
24:12into the bridge cut checking on bob making sure everyone's doing all right at dominion tyson lee is
24:20maxing out sluice on the golden mile and in the bridge cut he has new operator mike digging out pay dirt
24:31i want to prove to this crew that i'm capable i can do the job like whatever they throw at me i
24:36definitely have the taste of that gold favor while greenhorn amy in charge of running wash plant bob
24:44feeds 250 yards of pay an hour i am making sure that i am keeping a constant flow of pay dirt going up
24:55the conveyors and also making sure they're not getting clogged up or many other things that i'm sure
25:06i'm sure i'm sure i'm sure i'm sure they're not getting clogged up or many other things that i'm sure
25:17we're gonna shut off the generator
25:20Oh, this doesn't look good.
25:36What happened?
25:37It's all clogged up at the top.
25:39I just saw rocks shooting from the side.
25:42Unless there's a rock jammed in somewhere,
25:44like up against our change ride that caused it to not want to spin.
25:48But first things first, get all the dirt off the belts.
25:52Tyson suspects wash plant Bob has rocks lodged in its hopper feeder's internal conveyor chains,
25:59stopping the mechanism from moving pay dirt toward the shaker deck, leading to it piling up.
26:06The solution?
26:07Dig out the hopper feeder, removing all rocks lodged in the chain conveyor.
26:12Then, clear any rocks from the super stacker's belt rollers and start the plant up again.
26:23Yeah, we just want to...
26:25Clear it out?
26:25Yeah.
26:26Because if we fired the super stacker up, they'd be flying around like popcorn.
26:30Okay.
26:31They'll get sucked down into the tail drum and slice the belt.
26:34Okay.
26:35You did a great job, though, Amy.
26:37Thanks.
26:37Thanks.
26:37What happened?
26:52This chain bind up on something?
26:54Like a rock got stuck in the chain drive.
26:57Okay.
26:57Did we anything up?
26:59I don't know.
26:59We're just trying to shovel it out and make sure that the belt's all good.
27:03You can see there's a lot of big rocks on the conveyor belt itself.
27:09Give me that shovel.
27:12And watch out.
27:13Okay.
27:23Look at the bottom of that belt.
27:26You know, it's serious when Parker shows up and jumps into action.
27:30Tail drum's packed full of s**t.
27:35Oh, let's just get the big ones out of there.
27:40Let's climb down once Parker's done doing Parker things.
27:46I think we're good to go.
27:47Nice work.
27:49I'm climbing down.
27:50You're still up there.
27:51Generator's getting fired up.
27:53Yeah, it looks good.
28:07You want some dirt?
28:09Hey, Parker.
28:10You want some dirt?
28:12Yeah.
28:13I'm still kind of safe.
28:16Fire it up.
28:19We're ready to sluice.
28:20I'm so happy that I was able to spot it right away and shut it down because there were so many rocks that were jammed up in the belt.
28:44How's Amy doing?
28:49She dealt with that well.
28:50Yeah, definitely.
28:51She did it exactly how we showed her.
28:53Yeah.
28:54All right.
28:55See you on the flip side.
28:56See ya.
28:56Amy's doing wonderful.
28:58Couldn't have done anything better, really.
29:00The bar is set high.
29:02With the gold price as is, it doesn't take long to make a small fortune, so to speak.
29:22So let's make hay when the sun shines, they used to say.
29:25At the early bird extension, Tony is battling to open his new ground before his only running wash plan, sluice-a-lot, runs out of pay.
29:36We lost a bit of stripping time.
29:38We have to get the early bird extension cut ready.
29:41Just stay ahead, stay ahead, stay ahead.
29:43I'm back here today.
30:13And I am really glad Tony didn't fire me.
30:17Tony has his eye on Greenhorn Sam, who flipped his rock truck earlier in the week.
30:24I'm still on pretty thin ice.
30:27You feel like anything could get you fired if you're not careful.
30:31With the clock ticking, Tony has brought in experienced truck driver, Mason McIntyre, to help out.
30:38The conditions down here are pretty sloppy right now.
30:42It's causing, like, a lot of big ruts, which is hard to drive in sometimes for some people.
30:48You've got to adjust to the conditions.
30:51Some people catch on really quick and are used to it, and some people just don't catch on at all, and that's how mistakes happen.
31:00That could be quite dangerous, honestly, if you can't run something like this, which is not simple, but a lot more simple than another piece of equipment.
31:09Oh, somebody dumped her.
31:15You people.
31:18That's going to be a mess.
31:21I'll be right over there and have a look at it, okay?
31:24Don't move.
31:25At Tony B's early bird cut, another $300,000 rock truck has flipped.
31:54The one-two system seems to work pretty good.
31:58If you up something twice, I'll just fire the ****, and I'll be the one that's happy.
32:08Did the idiot still buy the truck or was it?
32:11Yeah.
32:11Okay.
32:14Where the **** was it?
32:15You're out of the ****, pal.
32:28What happened, Mason?
32:29Got a little soft.
32:31A little soft down there, or what?
32:32Yeah, a little bit.
32:34Experienced driver Mason McIntyre has flipped his first truck.
32:38Okay, I'll scoop it out.
32:39You can roll in the cap.
32:40Let's get the **** thing out of there, okay?
32:42Okay.
32:45Oh, yeah, let's take a little bit of dirt out.
32:49Tony uses the 480 excavator to empty the rock truck's box of dirt and push it upright.
32:55Hopefully they'll learn something, and then the next time we know it's bottom.
32:59Part of me is happy to see that it happens to other people besides me, but, I mean, I feel for the guy.
33:06It's pretty unpleasant when the box slips over on your rock truck.
33:15There you go.
33:16Hey, Mason, drive ahead of it.
33:22Just **** right off.
33:23Yeah, see you later, man.
33:25Thank you, Tony.
33:25That's my first truck I tipped over.
33:31It was a little scary.
33:33Tony was pretty relaxed.
33:35I think I had the luck because I'm here in my second season.
33:40Tony's crew are back in the race to get down to pay before Sluice-A-Lot runs out.
33:46If you want to do X amount of ounces a year, you need X amount of people, so you'd better put up with some more ****, I suppose.
33:54But sometimes it's not that easy, especially when it costs money.
33:57I mean, they turn trucks over.
33:59But sometimes you wonder what the heck you're doing.
34:02I asked Trey to come down and meet me here.
34:20I'm basically going to tell him that his contract is ****.
34:22I mean, I don't know what he wants me to do with this.
34:23I'm not budging off that ground, and I'm not signing this, so we need to come to some kind of compromise.
34:28After moving his crew to a new claim on Lightning Creek,
34:38Rick Ness has called a meeting with landlord Troy Taylor to negotiate the terms of the lease.
34:44Hey, Troy.
34:45Hey, Rick.
34:45How you doing?
34:46Good.
34:47Good to see you.
34:50We've got to put some signatures on paper and make it legal.
34:56There's no way.
34:57I have gone over the contract and a lot of things that I don't like.
35:03It says that you have the right to change the mining plan at any time.
35:06You can pull my equipment and my personnel when you see fit.
35:10There's an awful lot of power going in your hands here.
35:13I mean, I would like to think that our last contract went pretty smooth.
35:16I think it's coming down to a trusting.
35:18And, you know, for me right here in this contract, it looks like you don't trust me at all.
35:23And so I'm kind of wondering why I trust this, you know?
35:27Yeah, I get that.
35:28But I, it's nothing personal.
35:32It's just since the last agreement, things have changed so much.
35:36With the water licenses these days, if there's any blemish, if you are doing anything wrong,
35:43maybe you weren't here on a day that something's going sideways, it will be reflected on me.
35:50It could result in getting my water license revoked.
35:54I want to keep mining, so I have to, I have to have some teeth in this, in this agreement.
36:07I can kind of see where you're coming from, Troy, but I don't believe that this level of supervision is necessary.
36:13I mean, I, I don't, I don't want to feel like I'm looking over my shoulder all the time.
36:16And that's why I brought this, um, you know, off the bat.
36:20That's the hundred ounces that I owe you as the minimum royalty on this deal.
36:24And I'd be willing to give that to you up front right now today and get rid of this.
36:28Oh boy, I, from my perspective, if I don't have some control in the agreement, that's all I've got.
36:50I, I can't, I can't back up on that.
36:52I just can't.
36:53I understand it's got to be a tough one to, a tough pill to swallow.
36:59Um.
37:08What if I buy it?
37:09That's, um, it's a big one for me.
37:19I, I would need another, another 200 ounces on top of this.
37:24So 300 ounces total?
37:26Yes.
37:31Um.
37:32It's just, it's just too much.
37:36You know, I get that ground is at a premium with a water license right now, but it's a lot of money on the line and I won't be squeezed.
37:42It's just not going to happen.
37:46How about I get you another hundred ounces?
37:50That's 200 ounces total.
37:51And then we, then we call that good.
37:52I'm still responsible for the water license until I get paid as, you know, I'm, I'm still on the hook.
38:06How about by the end of the month and then we part ways, this is gone, your name's off it, I take over the ground.
38:15In a month?
38:15In a month.
38:16Your liability's gone, you're paid.
38:18Rick, that's a lot of gold to produce in a month.
38:24You've got a lot of stuff to do, so.
38:26If that's what it's going to take to, to mine this ground my way, that's, that's what we're going to do.
38:30I'll make it happen.
38:33Well, I like your determination.
38:35Let's do it.
38:37Call good?
38:38Yeah.
38:38All right.
38:41All right.
38:41Deal done.
38:42Well, we don't need this anymore.
38:43Rick Ness has just purchased another 1,600 acres of land for $700,000 in gold.
38:54I'm not sure what I just did.
38:56I think I came out on top.
38:58Gold prices are higher than ever, but right now it seems that a ground with a water license on it is even harder to find.
39:04He owns it.
39:04It's all his.
39:06So, hope it's good ground and I wish him the best.
39:09The guys are probably going to question this.
39:11This ground is, we haven't even sluiced it yet, but we did test it.
39:14We know there's gold.
39:14So, I need to get this ground.
39:16I need to just get us going.
39:17This was the only way I saw how to do it.
39:28Woo!
39:29We've hired a lot of people this year.
39:31I'm Ethan.
39:32I'm Raya.
39:33I'm Jordan.
39:34They've come with a range of skills.
39:36I've milked cows my whole life.
39:38Demolition side of things.
39:39I was a line cook before this.
39:41The revolving door of new people is not going to stop this year.
39:45New recruits have come from far and wide.
39:48I went for a motorcycle ride 3,500 kilometers from home to find Parker.
39:53Hello.
39:53Hey, Parker.
39:55You're Steve, right?
39:55Yes, yes.
39:56Good to meet you.
39:57I heard that you just showed up on a motorcycle.
39:59Yeah, it's sitting at your office.
40:00I saw it there and I was like, f*** that.
40:02Today is not the day for tourists.
40:04And then Nona found me.
40:05He was like, oh, he's in the loader.
40:07No, I've been running equipment for 30 years and I've always dreamed of coming up here doing
40:12this.
40:12Do you have like work clothes and stuff?
40:15This is it.
40:16It's like literally in his writing clothes.
40:18Glad to have you on board.
40:20Can you take a picture?
40:21Here you go, Steve.
40:22They've been f***ing around at the early bird extension cut for a while.
40:33So they're just going to check if they're down to pay.
40:40At the early bird extension, Tony is panning to see if his crew has hit pay.
40:47Usually we look for gold in the pan.
40:54You know, we don't wash rocks for the fun of it.
40:59Huh?
41:00There is no way.
41:02Hey, Jacob, D-Cobby, Jacob, D-Cobby.
41:08Okay, bring them guys in and just doing some panning in the cut.
41:12Good morning, gentlemen.
41:32Good morning.
41:33Good morning.
41:34In case you're wondering, we're looking for gold.
41:40Look at that.
41:40Well, that's pay dirt to me.
41:43You know, you're looking at Sam?
41:44Not exactly.
41:45No, well, that don't surprise me.
41:47Okay, I see that.
41:47Okay, well, there you go.
41:48Yeah, that's what it's all about, Sam.
41:52It actually looks very nice.
41:54There's lots of colors in there.
41:56It looks good.
41:58The first one's up at the top.
42:00I'd say this cut is ready to be going in the sluice box, eh?
42:03Oh, for sure.
42:05Give you guys an idea as to what we're after.
42:08Yeah.
42:09Let's go and get some more.
42:10Yes, sir.
42:11You bet.
42:12Yeah, seeing that pan of gold, put some gold in it was nice.
42:16I've had a few mistakes coming in here, but, you know, seeing the gold makes it worth it.
42:22We have a lot of people that never even been in an airplane.
42:25They come up here, never mind the piece of equipment.
42:27But somehow you're going to have to make it work.
42:29And as long as you get some gold in your pocket, then on the end of the day, it's all worth it.
42:34Hello, family.
42:42Hey, guys.
42:43How are you?
42:45Good.
42:45How are you?
42:46How are you?
42:48Get that pail off the table.
42:50Holy crap.
42:52Bring it over here, Michael.
42:53After a turbulent week at Indian River, Tony is ready to weigh the gold from the early bird cut.
43:03How's your new crew doing?
43:05Well, green horns.
43:06You know, you come with troubles.
43:07We tipped the other truck box here or there.
43:10Jacob had to rescue one the other day.
43:12I mean, you got the same thing on the hill, right?
43:14You got new people, you got the same old problem.
43:16Most minor returnee, so.
43:18Yeah.
43:18Yeah, well, that's lucky because they don't have half that crap.
43:22Do you want to see the fruits of your labors?
43:25Last week, the early bird cut delivered 214 ounces.
43:34You ready, Mike?
43:35Yeah.
43:3710, 20, 30, 60, 70, 80, 100, 110, 120, 130.
43:46140, 140, 142.14.
43:54Worth nearly half a million dollars, bringing Tony's total to 774 ounces.
44:03But it's a drop in production.
44:05If Tony is going to hit his 6,500-ounce goal, his extension of the early bird cut will have to deliver a big improvement.
44:15So, we're still a little ways off from our goal.
44:19It's still pretty early.
44:20We'll get there.
44:22That I think everybody should go back to work.
44:24Yeah.
44:24Sounds good.
44:24When do you guys go make us some more money?
44:27Okay, take your s*** with you, Mike.
44:29Bye.
44:29Yeah, bye.
44:30Don't go away mad, guys.
44:32Love you.
44:32Yeah, s*** off.
44:33Where's Chris?
44:50He didn't hear us.
44:52Chris.
44:53Oh, his new hearing aids really don't work?
44:54Sorry, I'm late.
44:58No, you're fine.
44:59Anything crazy happen down on your end?
45:02It's just lots of dirt.
45:03Yeah.
45:04Yeah, just trying to stack everything up.
45:06Yeah, we're really limited on space.
45:07It's very tight up there.
45:09Mitch and Brennan have been stripping ground at Sulphur Creek.
45:14While at Dominion, Tyson's kept two wash plants sluicing with new crew.
45:19You got a new plant operator, Amy?
45:22Yeah.
45:23How's she doing?
45:24She's doing really good, yeah.
45:25Is she?
45:26Going from being a school teacher to a loader operator, so that's definitely the change of
45:30pace for her.
45:31But yeah, she's doing really good.
45:33Is it, though?
45:34If she was like a kindergarten to fifth grade, it's probably not that much different.
45:38I have to talk really slow to these guys so they understand me.
45:44Don't eat the crayons.
45:48Two plants running, though, all week?
45:50Yeah, two plants.
45:51You got two plants, man.
45:52You're responsible for both of them.
45:55Here we go, sluicepher.
45:58Wash plant sluicepher's been running in the Golden Mile all week, and Parker's hoping to
46:04see an uptick from last week's 112 ounces.
46:08Let's see how the Golden Mile did.
46:1110, 30, 40, 70, 80, 100 ounces.
46:19There's 120, 130, 150, 152 even.
46:26Worth over $530,000, a 35% increase from last week.
46:33Perfect.
46:34That's a lot better.
46:35A lot better.
46:36Picked up a few ounces over last week.
46:37Definitely.
46:39Working some kinks out.
46:40Yeah.
46:41Next up, Bob at the Bridge Cut, which is averaging 143 ounces a week.
46:48We got 30, 50, 80, 100, 120, 140, 150, 156.2.
46:59Worth almost $550,000.
47:03Wow.
47:03That was close, eh?
47:05Yeah.
47:05Those two plants are four ounces off each other?
47:08Just a couple ounces off of each other.
47:10That's weird.
47:11Yeah, that's crazy.
47:12Yeah.
47:13That's crazy.
47:13This week, we got 308.2 ounces, which gives us a season total of 707.9.
47:21Tyson has nearly doubled their season total.
47:25You know, last year at this time, we were talking about 10,000 ounces, and we were all thinking
47:29it was pretty doable.
47:31Are we thinking we're going to do it this year?
47:34You're too early to ask that question.
47:37You guys need to get on the board now?
47:39Yeah.
47:39Oh, dear.
47:40Hopefully next week, there'll be three pans lined up there.
47:43There will be.
47:45Right?
47:45Sounds like we don't got a choice.
47:49No.
47:50All right.
47:51Have a good one.
47:52Thanks, Chris.
