00:09I bet you'd never expect to see a malevolent clown haunting a lonely highway.
00:17Some of the clowns are holding weapons. Some of them are carrying bats.
00:21What the f***?
00:22People are so freaked out that they call the police.
00:25Or a hairy hominid strutting by your train window.
00:31It's uncommon in Bigfoot videos to have multiple witnesses.
00:34Typically it's one person alone in the wilderness. This is not that.
00:38Suddenly everyone is talking about this modern day Bigfoot sighting.
00:42How about a flaming flash of light that sparks an out of this world 911 call?
00:47They're not like aliens, but they have big eyes. They're 100% they're not human.
00:50This is Las Vegas. Cops have responded to all kinds of calls.
00:55And you would think they would poo-poo the situation.
00:57But in fact, these cops had their own encounter.
01:00My partner said they saw something fall out of the sky too.
01:04These are the sightings so strange they are truly unbelievable.
01:08With any strange sighting, it's easy to dismiss a single report as an anomaly.
01:26But when there are multiple eyewitnesses, investigators have to look beyond the obvious and consider the unbelievable.
01:34It is spring of 1975 and ranchers across Colorado begin discovering dead cows in their fields.
01:47These cows aren't just dead. They're mutilated in really bizarre ways.
01:53Ears, eyes, udders, genitals have all been removed with surgical precision.
01:59Another weird aspect of this phenomenon is that these cows are typically found lying on their left side and there's no blood.
02:09Now, we need to understand that cows have five gallons of blood in them.
02:12To find a dead cow that's been mutilated with no blood anywhere, well, that's weird.
02:18Over the next six months, the body count skyrockets to 200.
02:23And local ranchers want answers.
02:25Game and wildlife officials are certain that it must be the work of scavengers.
02:32And yet, there are no footprints.
02:35There is no damage to the surrounding vegetation.
02:39There's no claw marks or teeth marks or any sort of sign that something was chewing on them.
02:45So, with no answers in sight, these ranchers call their U.S. congressman Floyd Haskell.
02:50And basically beg him to bring in the FBI.
02:55As similar reports start pouring in from 11 other states, the FBI has no choice but to act.
03:02So, the FBI assigns about 100 agents to this problem and they start interviewing eyewitnesses.
03:08A common theory that pops up is that some sort of satanic cult is running around the country mutilating cows.
03:14The FBI looks into it, but can't find any evidence.
03:18And a big problem with this theory is even satanic cult members will leave footprints.
03:24The feds perform stakeouts, autopsies.
03:29They look for witnesses.
03:30They come up with nothing.
03:34Meanwhile, local investigators come up with their own unusual theory.
03:38Independent researchers plot out these strange deaths on a map and they notice something bizarre.
03:46Most of these deaths cluster around a single line of latitude known as the North 37th Parallel,
03:54which crosses Kansas, Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado.
04:00Looking at that cow mutilation data, one New Mexico deputy sheriff, a guy by the name of Chuck Sikowski,
04:06finds something interesting.
04:07The cow mutilations correlate with known UFO sightings that have occurred during that time
04:14across this one line of latitude.
04:17Also, there are an awful lot of important and sometimes secret government and military facilities
04:23all along that same line.
04:26Fort Knox, Area 51, Air Force bases, missile silos.
04:32The 37th Parallel Correlations start to engender speculation that maybe the cattle mutilations
04:43and some of the related events like UFO sightings are signs of a secret government op.
04:50Maybe some strange airborne weapon is being tested on the mutilated cows.
04:56This theory gets so serious, in fact, that the National Guard orders their helicopter pilots
05:01to fly above 2,000 feet when they're flying over cattle ranches because of a legitimate fear
05:07that ranchers will start taking pot shots at U.S. military helicopters to protect their cattle.
05:12In the end, after 50 years of investigation of this mystery, we still have no smoking gun or alien death ray.
05:26What we have is thousands of dead cows.
05:32Far from the 37th Parallel, and nearly 20 years later, a group of schoolchildren spots something
05:38that will haunt them for a lifetime.
05:41It's 1994 in Rua, Zimbabwe, at the aerial school, and it's a typical school scene.
05:50Kids are running around at recess.
05:52The teachers are all inside, enjoying a break.
05:54All of a sudden, all hell breaks loose.
05:57The kids start pouring into the building, telling the teachers that they saw something very strange.
06:02Some of the kids describe having seen two lights in the sky that are orange,
06:07and these lights appear to be getting closer, and then they're revealed as having this disc-like shape.
06:17Once these strange crafts land, the children get an incredible look at who or what is driving them.
06:24They're even able to sketch the scene for their teachers.
06:28You can see in the drawings that all of their descriptions are incredibly similar.
06:32Many of the children report seeing these same shorter humanoid creatures walking around the craft.
06:38All the children seem to draw, though, one sort of consistent image of these strange people or figures.
06:44They all have very large eyes and very large heads.
06:48The eyes that a lot of the kids put in these drawings are very intense.
06:52And that's not really surprising at all, because they describe this experience where,
06:58if they make eye contact with the beings, those beings begin to communicate with them telepathically.
07:05According to the children, the visitors share an ominous warning.
07:09That technology would be man's downfall, and we need to act quickly to save the planet.
07:14There's also a man that reports seeing two glowing lights in the sky in the distance.
07:20And the night before, there is a trucker who reports that he sees these two strange beings in the road.
07:28This is a pretty big deal.
07:31We're talking about a large group of people seeing the same thing in broad daylight, but nobody believes them.
07:39The teachers are inside the classrooms.
07:40They cannot corroborate what the children saw.
07:42Many of the parents have doubts.
07:44This is devastating to these kids, who say they clearly saw something.
07:49Soon, the sighting gets the attention of UFO researchers around the globe, eager to interview the young eyewitnesses.
07:56Could you tell me what you saw on Friday?
07:59It looked like, roundabout like, like a disc.
08:03They had big black eyes.
08:06There are two researchers who come, Cynthia Hines, who's investigated other sightings in the area,
08:10and John Mack, a psychiatrist from Harvard.
08:13Both of these researchers interview the kids, and they both walk away believing what the kids have to tell them.
08:19But these interviews aren't without controversy.
08:21For starters, Hines interviews the children in small groups, which might be a problem because you might have cross-contamination of the information that's being given in the interviews.
08:30Of those who've analyzed the testimony, there seem to be two camps.
08:34One say this is the most compelling evidence for alien visitation ever, over 60 witnesses.
08:40Others say this is the most compelling case of mass hysteria they've ever seen.
08:44Still, three decades later, the witnesses themselves stand by their stories.
08:49And they still feel stigmatized and criticized, but in the midst of all that, they're not backing away from their story.
08:57And that makes it pretty compelling.
09:00Anybody who's ever tried getting two kids to agree on what movie to watch knows that getting 60 to make up the same story seems impossible.
09:09With each new hurricane season, meteorologists around the globe spend billions of dollars in high-tech radar tracking equipment just to give up-to-date information for evacuations.
09:22But on one small island off South Carolina, the early warning system is rather unusual, and it dates back some 200 years.
09:34Imagine, it's a beautiful summer day on Pauley's Island, South Carolina.
09:39The sky is blue, the sun is shining, we're seaside with the waves rolling.
09:44But then news of a hurricane arrives.
09:46As night falls, neighbors aren't sure whether to evacuate or hunker down in their homes.
09:51And then this strange gray man appears.
09:56Residents repeatedly describe witnessing this gray apparitional figure cloaked in a large gray overcoat, moving along the coast.
10:11But the gray man has a purpose.
10:13The locals believe that when the gray man shows up, it's time to evacuate the island.
10:19And as the legend goes, those who heed the gray man's warnings, they're going to be okay, and their property is going to be okay.
10:28And those who ignore the gray man do so at their own peril.
10:33The origin of this astonishing legend is a little murky.
10:36But it hasn't stopped residents from speculating over the years.
10:41According to one story, a sailor returns home to find that his fiancée is cheating on him.
10:50Distraught, he commits suicide by throwing himself into the Waccamaw River.
10:55And the ghost of the jilted sailor now walks the shoreline in grief just before a hurricane is about to strike the island.
11:08Another theory is that the gray man is actually a man named George Pauley.
11:12He was the original owner of Pauley's Island in the 1700s.
11:16Some people believe that he still roams the area trying to keep everybody safe.
11:21By far, the most popular tale is one that dates back to 1822.
11:28A sailor returning home is so eager to see his fiancée that he drives his speeding carriage into a marsh where he drowns.
11:41His fiancée is so overcome with grief that she wanders the shore aimlessly.
11:48One day, a shadowy gray figure approaches her and she recognizes him as her dead fiancée.
11:56She tries to engage him in conversation, but all he does is warn her about a storm that's coming and tell her to evacuate.
12:03After this strange encounter with the gray man, she goes and tells her family, and they heed the warning.
12:11They pack up and they move to a property that's much more inland.
12:15The storm hits and the entire area is destroyed except for their home.
12:20As legend goes, it's because she listened to the gray man.
12:23No matter which version you believe, the gray man is a welcome sight.
12:29Very few of us want to see a ghost, but if the gray man appears to you, he has elected to save you.
12:37So, it could be considered a lucky apparition.
12:44Running into mysterious figures in the dark isn't always a good thing.
12:48Sometimes, it can cause a nationwide panic.
12:53August 2016, alarmed citizens of Green Bay, Wisconsin, post pictures on social media of a menacing figure standing below a highway overpass.
13:03The figure is this very eerie clown just walking with a cluster of black balloons.
13:14People are so freaked out that they call the police, demanding that they do something about it, arrest them.
13:20The police are dismissive.
13:23It's not illegal to stand around being a creepy clown.
13:28Weeks later, terrified children in North Carolina begin reporting their own sightings of a creepy, threatening-looking clown.
13:39They say that this clown is trying to lure them into the woods with the promise of the things that we've warned children about.
13:48I will give you candy.
13:49We will have so much fun.
13:50Please come into the woods with me.
13:52The story becomes a sensation all over the country.
13:56People start flooding at news stations and social media with pictures and reports.
14:08Creepy clowns are showing up on ring cameras, dashcams, iPhone cameras.
14:13Hashtag creepy clown is trending at the top.
14:17It's dubbed the Great Clown Panic.
14:21Stories of clowns attacking people and trying to abduct children pop up everywhere.
14:26From Florida to Pennsylvania, Washington, and California.
14:29And soon, the images start to get a little scarier.
14:35Some of the clowns are carrying bats.
14:37Some of them are holding weapons.
14:39This really gets people riled up and terrified.
14:43By October, the panic has jumped across the pond to England and European countries.
14:48The Russian embassy in London even issues a warning to Russian citizens to beware of these creepy clowns.
14:57It gets bad enough that vigilante groups form clown patrols across the U.S. and Europe.
15:03When malevolent clown reports start popping up on the campus of Penn State,
15:10students organize into a flash mob with the intent of hunting down these threatening clowns.
15:18The mob turns up nothing.
15:20This is also 2016.
15:23It's an election year and a contentious one.
15:25So this clown panic starts to get occluded by political news.
15:29And eventually, it just kind of is supplanted completely and goes away.
15:39911 operators never know what kind of call they're going to get, so they try to prepare for anything.
15:44But in 2023, one dispatcher in Las Vegas gets a call no one sees coming.
15:51In April 2023 in Las Vegas, 911 gets an emergency call from this kid named Angel Kinmore.
15:58And he is freaked out of his mind, utterly terrified.
16:02Okay, what's going on over there?
16:04Okay, lady.
16:05Me, my dad, and my brother, we're working on a truck in our backyard.
16:09And we just see something fall down from the sky.
16:12And it was with light.
16:13And when I head down, it was like a big impact, and we felt it.
16:16When Angel and his family look outside,
16:19they say they see strange creatures crawling over family equipment in the backyard.
16:26And we see, there's like an eight-foot person beside it,
16:30and another one's beside it, and it has big eyes that are looking at us.
16:32I swear to God, this is not a joke.
16:34This is actually, we just be terrified of it.
16:36So there's two people, or two subjects that are in your backyard?
16:39Correct, and they're very large.
16:41They look like aliens to us.
16:43Big eyes, they have big eyes, like, I can't explain it.
16:46And they're not human, 100% they're not human.
16:50BP68 copy, both units and rule advisor.
16:52When police arrive, Angel's entire family is assembled out on the front lawn.
17:01Hey, what's up? Who called?
17:02The family is freaked out.
17:05They believe they've seen something wild.
17:08What did you see?
17:09It was like a big creature.
17:12A big creature?
17:13Yeah, like a long 50-foot tall.
17:15This is Las Vegas.
17:16Cops have responded to all kinds of calls throughout their careers.
17:19And you would think these cops are going to kind of roll up,
17:21and they will poo-poo the situation,
17:24take down the report, and go on about it.
17:26But in fact, these cops are actually pretty ready
17:31to talk to the Kenmore family,
17:32because they have had their own encounter.
17:34Because I'm not going to BS you guys.
17:35One of my partners said they saw something fall out of the sky, too,
17:38so that's why I'm kind of curious.
17:41Oh.
17:42A lot of people in the Las Vegas area saw this fireball and reported it.
17:59So something happened, and nobody quite knows what that something is.
18:04With all this speculation, NASA does eventually step into the fray,
18:08and they claim that what the family and the police officers actually saw that night
18:13was a small meteorite.
18:15And they say that it would have crashed in the ocean hundreds of miles away.
18:19What's odd, though, is that a lot of the reports from Las Vegas at the time,
18:24and the family in particular,
18:25they claim that they heard the object hit the ground and make an impact.
18:29So if the object fell into the ocean hundreds of miles away,
18:33how do you hear an impact?
18:34I'm kind of curious now.
18:38I want to know if there's aliens.
18:40The Vegas PD takes the story seriously enough
18:43to install a surveillance camera on the roof of the family home.
18:51However, it doesn't capture footage of any intruders, human or non-human.
18:56The Vegas event is just the latest in a long line of UFO reports in the Southwest.
19:03The best known, of course, is the Roswell incident
19:05that allegedly occurred in early July 1947.
19:09But another strange sighting just prior to Roswell
19:12will coin a phrase now famous around the world.
19:16It's June 1947, and a commercial pilot named Kenneth Arnold
19:24takes off from the airport at Chehalish, Washington,
19:27and he's flying to Pendleton, Oregon, to participate in an air show.
19:32It's a beautiful day.
19:33Skies are blue.
19:34Turbulence is clear.
19:35And Arnold decides to take a small detour.
19:38He's recently heard that a military transport carrying 32 Marines has crashed.
19:43He's hoping to find the downed aircraft to claim the $5,000 reward.
19:48Around 3 p.m., as Arnold is circling 20 miles to the west of Mount Rainier,
19:53a brief flash of light catches his attention.
19:58That single flash quickly becomes nine objects across the sky,
20:03flying in a V formation.
20:05It's something Arnold has never seen before.
20:08The objects seem to flip, bank, and weave side to side,
20:12which Arnold describes as being like the tail of a Chinese kite.
20:16But what really makes Arnold's heart pound is their incredible speed.
20:22Arnold clocks these objects as traveling at about 1,700 miles an hour.
20:28I mean, no human pilot has ever flown at speeds anywhere near that.
20:34This is just before Chuck Yeager breaks the sound barrier
20:38and becomes the fastest man alive, flying at 700 miles an hour.
20:44Arnold immediately reports his sighting,
20:47and it ignites a media firestorm,
20:50one that generates an iconic phrase
20:52that will be associated with UFOs forever.
20:55Arnold tells a journalist that the way the objects moved,
21:01it looked like they were saucers skipping on water.
21:05Well, what happens next is one of the greatest misquotes in UFO history,
21:09and the term flying saucer is born.
21:11Other corroborating witnesses step forward,
21:16including a prospector on Mount Adams
21:20who reports seeing the same objects in the same formation
21:24at the same time as Ken's sighting.
21:27The Air Force eventually gets involved
21:29and begins to investigate Arnold's claim.
21:32Kenneth Arnold sticks to his guns.
21:34He is an extremely experienced pilot.
21:36He's got 9,000 flying hours under his belt.
21:40He's adamant. This was no mirage.
21:43These were real, solid craft.
21:47They interview him as well as the prospector,
21:50and they do decide that, yeah, these guys are credible.
21:54But they're not willing to go so far as to say
21:57that what they saw were aircraft.
21:59The Air Force turns around and says
22:01what they actually saw was a mirage.
22:03Even in the face of government denial,
22:06Ken sticks to his story until his death in 1984.
22:11It's not clear what Kenneth Arnold saw that day,
22:13but what we do know is that Arnold helped create
22:15the stickiest catchphrase in UFO history,
22:19flying saucer.
22:21And we can't take that away.
22:22As somebody who's had his own encounters with UAPs,
22:29I'll just say, if you see one, you'll know.
22:36Florida's I-4 highway has an infamous history.
22:39It's been called the deadliest highway in America,
22:42and many locals blame the road's scary reputation
22:45on a long history of peculiar sightings.
22:49There is a quarter-mile sliver of highway
22:54that connects Tampa to Daytona above the St. Johns River,
23:00and residents refer to it as the dead zone.
23:03People have reported some sort of odd energy vortex
23:07that's able to disconnect electronic devices.
23:10Radios, phones, computers, tablets,
23:13everything just starts shutting down.
23:15But that's not the strangest thing
23:17that happens on this highway.
23:19There's also the full-on vivid ghostly apparitions
23:22people see while driving at night.
23:25People describe strange orbs floating beside vehicles,
23:31ghostly horses running across the road,
23:34and a strange woman leaping into the road.
23:40According to locals, there may be a historical reason,
23:43it has to do with the site the road was built on.
23:47Back in the 1870s, a man named Henry Sanford owns this land,
23:52and he sells it to a group of German immigrants
23:54who are trying to set up a colony.
23:57There is a particularly bad outbreak of yellow fever
24:00that nearly wipes the entire colony out.
24:03They bury the dead and move on.
24:05And then that land just changes hands a number of times
24:09until it becomes part of the city of Sanford.
24:12From that point on,
24:14any time the grounds are disturbed,
24:16misfortune seems to follow.
24:18In the early 20th century,
24:21a farmer removes some of the grave markers,
24:25and shortly after, his house burns down.
24:30Decades later, there is a child
24:32who is digging near this burial site,
24:35and that kid gets hit by a car.
24:38These stories are all part of the local lore,
24:41and so this area gets the nickname
24:43The Land of the Dead.
24:45By the 1960s,
24:48the state of Florida acquires the land
24:51for the building of this highway.
24:53The state promises to relocate the buried bodies,
24:58but instead just removes most of the headstones,
25:02and construction begins.
25:05From the day it opens in 1965,
25:08Florida's I-4 starts racking up a disturbing death toll.
25:13On opening day, in fact,
25:14a tractor-trailer jackknives
25:17just above the graves,
25:20resulting in fatalities.
25:23Between 2011 and 2015,
25:27165 people are killed
25:31on this little stretch of road,
25:33earning it yet another nickname,
25:36America's Deadliest Highway.
25:37It really is incredibly dangerous,
25:40but people aren't sure,
25:42is this some sort of engineering issue,
25:44or is there something supernatural at play?
25:47So the bottom line is,
25:49a lot of locals advise building this
25:52into your travel plans,
25:54and suggest that you try the scenic route.
25:58The strange sightings along I-4 could inspire a Hollywood horror movie,
26:05but they haven't yet.
26:07Unlike the bizarre events
26:09at one California seaside town
26:11that send a famous Hollywood director
26:13running for his typewriter.
26:15It's the early 1960s in Capitola,
26:19a small beach town just south of Santa Cruz, California.
26:22Hippies, surfers, families having fun.
26:26It's a nice, quiet seaside life.
26:28But this picturesque beach town
26:31is about to become a living nightmare.
26:35The residents of Capitola wake up
26:37on the morning of April 18, 1961,
26:40to a flock of birds terrorizing the town.
26:44Residents are coming out of their houses,
26:46looking up and noticing the sky has darkened
26:49from all of these birds
26:51that are just dive-bombing missiles with beaks.
26:54They're attacking people and pets,
26:59and they're dive-bombing houses.
27:02They're wreaking havoc.
27:05To be clear, this isn't some new migration
27:08of psychotic birds that have just flown into town.
27:10These are the seaside birds
27:12that beachgoers have been feeding crackers to for years now.
27:15The only difference is they're now out for blood.
27:18Even worse, these birds are also vomiting all over Capitola.
27:23And what are they vomiting?
27:23They're vomiting up anchovies.
27:25It's a fish vomit.
27:26It's not a good sight.
27:28It's definitely not a good smell.
27:30What is causing these birds to lose their minds
27:33and attack their human neighbors?
27:36The answer might be in that fishy vomit.
27:40The seagulls are feeding on the anchovies,
27:42and the anchovies are feeding on the algae.
27:45There's been an overgrowth of algae in that area,
27:48so the main theory biologists believe is
27:51that the algae might contain some kind of neurotoxin,
27:55and that neurotoxin might be affecting the seagull's brains.
27:59Was it a toxin or something more?
28:02The uncertainty leaves one chilling possibility.
28:05Even today, we don't actually know what happened to these birds,
28:10which means it could possibly happen again,
28:13and it could be something more menacing than just a seagull.
28:17Reports of the carnage, it reads like a horror movie,
28:20and in fact, Hitchcock himself visits the town
28:24to get some inspiration while writing the birds.
28:26What a terrifying story of art
28:32imitating even more terrifying life.
28:37Since the ancient Greeks and Romans,
28:40soldiers have returned from war
28:41with tales of strange creatures encountered in battle.
28:44But one group of American Marines would insist
28:47that whatever attacked them in the Vietnam jungle
28:49was no myth,
28:51and they have the scars to prove it.
28:53It's early 1966,
28:58and the captain of a company of Marines
29:00receives intel of some strange movements
29:04happening in the jungle.
29:05He radios his troops to observe, but not fire.
29:10He doesn't want to give away his troops' position.
29:14He thinks it could potentially be
29:16the Viet Cong gearing up for a surprise attack.
29:19The captain then receives this puzzling report
29:24where the men say,
29:25never mind,
29:25we've got a number of apes
29:28that are in front of our position.
29:31This strikes him as an unusual development
29:33because there are no large apes in Vietnam.
29:36They're not native there.
29:37And for there to then be a group of them
29:40directly in front of this Marine position
29:42is especially curious.
29:43So the Marines inform their captain
29:47that these apes are getting quite close.
29:50Being a good officer,
29:51the captain comes up with a sort of obvious solution.
29:55Just throw some rocks at the apes,
29:57scare them off,
29:58and they'll go away.
30:00Very clearly stating, though,
30:01don't open fire.
30:03These Marines follow orders.
30:05The throw rocks
30:06and the next noises that come out over the radio
30:10are all sorts of chaos and commotion.
30:13There is gunfire,
30:17there is screaming,
30:18there is yelling,
30:19there's all of this ruckus,
30:21and then the radio just goes silent.
30:25Frantic, the captain
30:27sends out a recon squad of Marines
30:28to find out what the hell happened.
30:31And what they find is pure carnage.
30:34You've got Marines on the ground
30:36that are banged up.
30:38Some of them have cracked skulls.
30:40Some of them are unconscious.
30:41And they ask them,
30:42what happened?
30:44Everyone reports basically the same thing.
30:46That is,
30:47they were attacked
30:48by a group of six-foot-tall,
30:50orange-haired apes
30:52that had really good throwing arms.
30:54And some of the men
30:55had to engage them
30:56in hand-to-hand combat.
30:58After the skirmish,
31:00no bodies of Vietnamese jungle apes
31:02are recovered.
31:02But this won't be the only sighting.
31:07In 1968,
31:08there's an incident also near Da Nang
31:10where Marines from Mike Company
31:12of the 3rd Battalion,
31:135th Marines,
31:14encounter a group of stone-throwing apes
31:16occupying high ground
31:18above their positions.
31:20They open fire,
31:23but the bodies of none of these apes
31:25can be found afterward.
31:26There's just the personal accounts
31:28of the Marines
31:29who eyewitnessed the incident.
31:31The reports become common enough
31:34that the stone-hurling primates
31:35earn themselves a nickname,
31:37rock apes.
31:39It's not just the Americans
31:41that are having these experiences.
31:43We have reports
31:45that the Vietnamese
31:46also were having similar encounters
31:48with these massive apes.
31:50They referred to them
31:51as batutut or jungle people,
31:53but the description is the same.
31:55Very tall,
31:56reddish, brownish fur,
31:58aggressive,
31:58and there's some speculation
32:00that these were maybe orangutans.
32:03But the problem is that
32:04orangutans haven't lived in Vietnam
32:06for 1,000 years.
32:08So you've got all of these soldiers
32:10talking about these mysterious sightings
32:12of these rock-throwing apes,
32:13and yet none of them
32:14are able to kill any of these apes.
32:17No body is ever recovered.
32:18So what is left
32:20in terms of an explanation?
32:21What we end up with
32:23is sort of the Vietnam version
32:25of the Yeti.
32:28What makes it all the more puzzling
32:30is the fact that there are so many people
32:32that have similar encounters
32:34during a compressed period of time.
32:36So it's definitely a part
32:38of at least the folklore
32:39of the Vietnam experience.
32:41Who knows?
32:42It might even be real.
32:43Like the jungle,
32:47the ocean has also been home
32:49to some unusual encounters.
32:52May 2024,
32:54the Strait of Gibraltar,
32:56the 50-foot sailing yacht
32:57Alboron Cognac
32:58is calmly making way.
33:01Out of nowhere,
33:02a pod of aggressive orcas
33:03bears down on the boat's rudder,
33:05grabbing it in their massive jaws
33:07and tearing at it.
33:09Deliberately.
33:11Get up the boat!
33:12The terrified crew
33:13is powerless to fend them off
33:15and then suddenly
33:16the rudder breaks off.
33:21Leaving the ship
33:22absolutely adrift
33:23and believe it or not,
33:25it actually gets worse.
33:28Ripping off the rudder
33:29has opened a hole in the boat
33:31and the boat is now
33:32rapidly taking on water.
33:35The captain issues
33:36a mayday signal
33:37the boat is sinking.
33:41Unbelievably,
33:42this is far
33:42from the first attack
33:44by a gang of angry orcas.
33:46These attacks have happened
33:48to more than 500 captains
33:49in the last four years
33:51and the attacks
33:51have continued to grow
33:52from the Mediterranean
33:53all the way
33:54into the North Sea.
33:55When the orcas start attacking,
33:56both captains
33:57and marine biologists
33:58are puzzled.
33:59They've never seen
34:00a behavior like this before.
34:02As scientists
34:03scramble for answers,
34:04one orca might hold the key.
34:06White Gladys.
34:08She can be spotted
34:09by the propeller scars
34:10across her back.
34:14White Gladys was the first whale
34:16known to attack a sailboat.
34:18She was pregnant
34:19about that same time,
34:20so could it be
34:21that she was trying
34:22to protect her child?
34:23What's truly remarkable
34:25is that she's now
34:26passed this knowledge
34:27onto other pods
34:29and it's now becoming
34:31whale culture,
34:33spreading throughout
34:34other pods of whales
34:36in a way that scientists
34:37really can't comprehend.
34:40The Atlantic Orca Working Group
34:42has reported
34:43an almost 300% rise
34:45in attacks from 2020 to 2023.
34:47More shocking, however,
34:50is the public's reaction.
34:52As the stories
34:53have become viral,
34:54people start rooting
34:55for the whales.
34:58Now there are Orca memes
34:59applauding the orcas,
35:01saying,
35:01eat the rich.
35:03Literally.
35:05I won't say
35:06I'm rooting for the orcas,
35:07but I can admit
35:09to feeling a bit conflicted.
35:11When you go on vacation,
35:15you can only hope
35:16you'll spot something
35:16really worth photographing,
35:18maybe some beautiful architecture
35:19or stunning scenery.
35:21What you don't expect to see
35:22is a baffling creature
35:24one man captures on film.
35:26It is October of 2023
35:29and passengers
35:31on the narrow-gauge train
35:34from Durango to Silverton
35:36are gazing out
35:38at the beautiful,
35:39unspoiled mountain
35:41wilderness
35:41outside the window.
35:43This is an old-time
35:45steam-powered railroad
35:47that is intended
35:49to recreate
35:50the experience
35:52of traveling
35:53in 1822.
35:56One passenger,
35:57who only identifies himself
35:58as Brandon,
35:59is sitting on the train
36:00looking out the window,
36:01hoping to spot some deer
36:03or some other wildlife
36:04or just take in
36:05the beauty of nature.
36:06But then he sees
36:07something pretty strange,
36:08so he whips out
36:09his smartphone.
36:10What he captures
36:11is no deer.
36:12It appears to be
36:13a large, hairy,
36:14bipedal creature
36:15crossing through
36:16rough mountain terrain
36:17in long strides.
36:20An elusive creature.
36:24Brandon shares his footage
36:25with another couple
36:26that's on the train
36:27with him.
36:28They are seeing
36:28the exact same thing
36:29and they post it
36:31to social media.
36:32And then it takes
36:33on a life of its own.
36:34Suddenly,
36:35everyone is talking
36:35about this modern-day
36:37Bigfoot sighting.
36:39Within 48 hours,
36:40it's got tens
36:41of millions of views.
36:43A debate begins to form
36:45and some people
36:46are saying
36:47that this is a hoax,
36:48while others are saying
36:49this is an authentic video
36:51of a Bigfoot.
36:51Now,
36:52most Bigfoot footage
36:54where it exists
36:55is shot by
36:57self-proclaimed
36:58enthusiasts,
36:59which makes the public
37:01naturally skeptical.
37:03In this case,
37:04based on what we know,
37:06Brandon wasn't
37:07looking for Bigfoot
37:08or anything unexpected.
37:10He just captured it.
37:13Another thing
37:13that makes this video
37:14interesting is that
37:15there's a lot of people
37:16on the train
37:17seeing the exact same thing.
37:19It's not common
37:23in Bigfoot videos
37:24to have multiple witnesses.
37:25Typically,
37:26it's one person
37:26alone in the wilderness.
37:28This is not that.
37:29There's a lot of people
37:30and they're all seeing
37:31this strange thing
37:32walking on this mountain range.
37:35It also might not be
37:36as random as it seems.
37:38Turns out,
37:39this isn't the first
37:40alleged Bigfoot sighting
37:41in the area.
37:42In August of 2000,
37:44a woman in the nearby
37:46San Juan Mountains
37:48reports an encounter
37:49with two Bigfoot-like figures
37:52and she describes them
37:55as having the lighter
37:57chestnut-colored hair
37:59that you see
38:01in Brandon's video.
38:03Some skeptics claim
38:05the sighting
38:05is a marketing ploy
38:06by a local business
38:07and the company owners
38:09won't confirm
38:10or deny it.
38:12And as for the cameraman,
38:13he wants people
38:15to reach their own conclusions.
38:16You don't have to be
38:20in the remote
38:21American wilderness
38:21to spot something strange
38:23on vacation.
38:24If you happen to be
38:25a castle-hopping tourist
38:26on the West English coast,
38:28you might just stumble
38:29on a truly
38:30unbelievable sight.
38:31As Americans,
38:35we tend to think
38:36of Britain
38:38as incredibly charming.
38:40Lovely countrysides,
38:42rolling farm hills,
38:43castles,
38:44the monarchy.
38:45It's all about class.
38:47The historic town
38:49of Egremont
38:49has some of those
38:50stately trappings,
38:52but what it's actually
38:53famous for
38:54is a sight
38:55for sore eyes.
38:57For about eight centuries,
38:58Egremont has hosted
38:59the town crab fair.
39:00It's sort of a reverse
39:02beauty contest.
39:04The winner
39:05is those
39:06who can
39:07contort their face
39:09into the weirdest,
39:11most perverse visage
39:12and hold it
39:13for as long as possible.
39:16And there's a name
39:17for this type of contest.
39:19It's called
39:19Gurning.
39:21And it's actually
39:21a professional competition.
39:23One by one,
39:25contestants take to the stage
39:27and they put their head
39:28through a horse collar
39:30and they march the stage
39:32up and down
39:33trying to win
39:34the crowd over
39:35with the strangest
39:37contortions.
39:39These gurners
39:40are judged
39:41on three criteria.
39:43How much
39:43they can change
39:44their face,
39:45how long
39:46they can hold
39:47that pose
39:47and just how ugly
39:49that face is.
39:51Most beauty contests
39:52really value
39:53a lovely set
39:54of white teeth,
39:55but having no teeth
39:56is actually an advantage
39:58in gurning
39:58because when you
40:00have only gums,
40:00you can collapse
40:01your nose
40:02completely into its mouth,
40:04which ends up being
40:05the showstopper.
40:06This is a big deal
40:08considering that
40:09you've got
40:09Hall of Famers
40:10that just reside
40:11in the annals of history.
40:12The ten-time male winner,
40:14Tommy Mattinson.
40:15You've got the
40:1624-time female winner,
40:17the late, great Ann Woods.
40:19May she rest in peace.
40:20Master
40:20of the perfect pout.
40:25Sure enough,
40:25it's a strange sight
40:27for the rest of the world,
40:28but who are we
40:29to argue
40:29with centuries
40:30of British tradition?
40:36Looks like the British
40:38custom of keeping
40:39a stiff upper lip
40:40goes out the window here.
40:42From creepy clowns
40:44to murderous gulls,
40:45ghostly highways
40:46to alien invasions,
40:48these are the sightings
40:50so strange.
40:52They are truly
40:52unbelievable.
40:54to see you there.
40:56Let's go.
40:57Let's go.
40:58Let's go.
40:59Let's go.
