00:00Europe. Last episode, Toby and I got caught in the outskirts of Rennes by Adam and Michelle.
00:05That means it's now their turn, and they're making a beeline for their win location at the
00:09Gornergrat Observatory outside Zermatt, Switzerland. Having used their freeze power-up to
00:13strand Toby and I in Champagne-Ardin, Adam and Michelle were able to escape on a well-timed
00:18high-speed train straight to Strasbourg at the end of day one. Toby and I won't be able to make
00:22it there by the end of today, and there isn't a train first thing, meaning we're going to be
00:26hours behind the runners until they're forced to slow down. The other chaser team, Ben and Brian,
00:31saw how quickly Adam and Michelle were moving and decided to cut their losses right away.
00:35They're now heading to Charles de Gaulle Airport in the hopes of making a flight to Zurich first
00:38thing tomorrow morning. So now, back to Adam and Michelle on their train to Strasbourg as they
00:43break down their next moves. Michelle, would you like to explain what our situation is?
00:48Our situation is, if everything goes perfectly according to plan, we will be in Zermatt tomorrow
00:54by lunchtime. Eating on top of a mountain. It's true. Time for an early lunch. Time for
00:59an early 11, 17 a.m. lunch. We only need 1,340 more coins in order to just do a straight shot to
01:08Zermatt. This is part of why we picked Zermatt, because Zermatt has this weird advantage where
01:16Swiss trains, even though they're very fast, aren't classified as being high speed. This was part of
01:22how Sam managed to get so far into Switzerland and tagged three. It seems like the best possible
01:28thing for them to do is that Ben and Brian should go to the airport and fly to Zurich in
01:35the morning. There's a 6.45 flight. I mean, it's Charles de Gaulle, which is really annoying
01:41to get through. But if they did that, they would have a pretty decent shot of getting
01:50in front of us if we slowed down at all. My suspicion is that Ben and Brian are headed
01:56to the airport. So yeah, cut to Ben and Brian at the airport. They're at the airport now.
02:01They're going to the airport. Merci. Merci. We made it to Charles de Gaulle. This is probably
02:11one of my least favorite places on planet Earth. Worse than LAX? Oh, wait. The vibes are worse
02:19than LAX. The vibes are quite bad. It's like, what if LAX was staffed by really mean French
02:24people? This airport, Sam is not wrong. This airport is hell on Earth. But I think 45 minutes
02:29just, yeah, especially when we can literally position ourselves right where we need to be
02:35for tomorrow. Yeah, this is a very strange layout. Yeah, I mean, it's horrible.
02:46I just don't love the risk of Ben and Brian's move. I don't love it either, but I understand
02:55how... And I'm actually really hoping that they make it. I hope they make it. I just think
03:01it's a selfish move because... I think that they have to be selfish because they can't
03:06let us get the next time. We've found a little route to the airport. In fact, do you think
03:11we'll see them there? Very possible. We'll get to the airport and then we need to either
03:16tonight or tomorrow morning, take the RER into Paris, to Paris-Garde-leste. Are you going
03:20to update Ben and Brian on our plans? I don't know. I'll take it over. I'm not super inclined
03:26to at this point.
03:33So now Toby and I are headed to Charles de Gaulle Airport to end our day. Not to make the flight
03:37to Zurich, but to make a better time train to Strasbourg tomorrow morning. It still puts
03:41us hours behind Adam and Michelle, but at least it puts us on the direct path following them
03:46for if they slow down enough for us to catch up. Unfortunately for us, Adam and Michelle are
03:51planning to leave Strasbourg first thing tomorrow morning on a train to Basel, and to make matters
03:55worse, they only need 1,340 more coins to make it all the way to Zermatt. That means that if they
04:01can somehow earn those extra coins tonight, they'll be on a beeline route to their win location without
04:06ever needing to stop for a challenge again. So let's see what they're able to pull off.
04:16All right, Michelle. Welcome to Strasbourg. Oh, my God. I love it. Look at the stained glass.
04:27Let's just like go over by where there's stuff and then let's pull our wonderful car. Yay.
04:32I've done a lot of challenges here in Strasbourg. There's my trash can that I traditionally put
04:38my tripod on when I'm in Strasbourg. Oh, I recognize this grass. Yeah. All righty. Okie dokie.
04:49Michelle, it's time to draw our card. Now, we just need it to be anything that isn't bad.
04:54Do you feel like we can do it? You're putting a lot of pressure on me, Adam. Do you want me to draw it?
05:00I'll draw it. Let's do it together. Okay, here we go. One, two, three.
05:03Stack rocks. Build a rock tower. More coins for more rocks, but if the tower collapses,
05:12this card is automatically vetoed. The tower must stay upright, unaided, for five seconds
05:17after the last rock is placed. Okay, I think that we can do this. We need to find rocks.
05:23Where can we find rocks? Is there water? Is there like a river? I mean, there's little baby rocks here,
05:29but I don't think that this would work at all. How many are we going for? Well, if we stacked 14,
05:35that would be enough coins. That would be such a sleigh. Okay. I think we need to try to go
05:40somewhere that has bigger rocks. Okay. Let's go to the water. Oh, this is beautiful. Wow. I think
05:48that we really need to lock in our attempts within the next 10-ish minutes so that if we fail in veto,
05:54we can still take our train in the morning. Okay. Great. We can do this. Okay. What are you seeing
06:01in terms of rocks? That is good. I'm not seeing very big. Oh, this is a big rock.
06:08It's unstable, though. All right. That's one big one. Not a lot of rocks here by the water.
06:12Right. I was hoping for more. I think that we should probably do this and just be pretty conservative
06:17about it. Here are the rocks that we collected. I don't love them. I feel like going for four
06:23is safe. Let's talk about strategy. I think this guy goes first. Okay. And then I think it's like
06:29this one, this one, this one. That feels like an easy four. And we get 400 coins. Yeah. It's just,
06:39that's not a lot of coins. So like we need to pull another challenge quickly. This is what we're
06:43doing. Okay. Here we go. First rock. I'll go this one. This one? Uh, sure. Yeah. This one.
06:53You want to place it? No, you got it. You got it. So I'm going this way. Oh, be careful with that.
06:57That guy is teetering like crazy. Five seconds, right? You count the second I place. I'm letting
07:07that. Great. One, two, three, four, five. I think that was, was good. It was very responsible.
07:16I think that was a chill time that we had. It didn't get us a lot of coins, but we did it fast.
07:22Listen. Nice, clean, 400. That's good for us. Because you and I both habitually have a habit of
07:29getting too excited. You know, we went chill mode. We went chill mode. And I think that that was
07:33really good of us. Okay. Should we pull another? Yes. You shuffle. Okay. Hurrying. Hurrying. Okay. And
07:43cursed.
07:50Cursed. For the rest of your run, you cannot use your phones to navigate.
07:55That's okay. I think that that... This is okay, Adam. Remember, we were memorizing the
08:01train. We know what we're supposed to do. We go Zermatt. Sorry. No, no, no. No. We go
08:07Strasburg to Basel. Basel to the V1. This. This. This. To Zermatt. See, this is why we were memorizing
08:17on the train. Because we're fated for this. Now we have all the coins we need. We don't do any more
08:21challenges, Adam. Okay. Okay. If we can do this right, this should be our ticket to Zermatt.
08:27Oh my God! We should get a picture here. It looks so nice. Let's get a picture of the spot where
08:33we won this season of jet lagging. Welcome to Charles de Gaulle. I think this is from where
08:51we end our day. But things keep getting better and better. We found a swigly earlier train
08:58tomorrow morning. Yes. So it's a Deutsche Bahn train. So, you know. It's sketchy to be slightly
09:04earlier tomorrow morning. That is correct. Look, airplane. All right, Toby, we need a ceremonial
09:10endpoint. You want to end in the photo booth? Yeah. Well, have a seat. All right. Game's over. See you guys
09:19tomorrow. Yay. We've nailed it, Toby. We're going to get them. They might have a multi-hour
09:27head start, but that's nothing, right? Good night. Okay. I think this is as far as we can
09:34go without a ticket. Yeah. Okay. We are here right in front of security. Sam believes that
09:40we are going to miss our flight. And I believe that Sam is wrong. And I think that he's frankly
09:46just jealous that he doesn't have such an awesome plan. What will Sam and Toby do? I
09:50do not know. But what I know now is that we are going to meet you here tomorrow morning
09:55at 6 a.m. sharp. We're going to breeze through security. We're going to make it on to our
10:00flight to Zurich. And then we are going to be in a perfect position to catch Adam and Michelle.
10:06But for now, we are going to sleep. We're going to find a lovely airport hotel and get room
10:12service. Oh, yes. Good night. We will see you tomorrow morning. Okay. Good morning. It
10:26is 6 a.m. We have gotten rid of our dangerous contraband. Grappling hook. Grappling hook.
10:34You're getting rid of your grappling hook? Yeah. I brought a little grappling hook, but
10:42I guess we'll probably have to get rid of that too. And we are ready to go. And the line
10:49is not busy at all. Stop. Fuck it. Yeah. I think we're going to make it. I mean, our flight
10:57starts boarding in like 20 minutes, so we should go. But it looks pretty good. But let's go.
11:04Good morning. Bonjour. And in fact, of course, bonjour. It's 6 a.m., which means that it's
11:20time for us to go. Go, go, go, go, go, go, go. Well, today is a very interesting day, and
11:27I think it's going to be a wonderful day. We have a route to Zermatt. Yes. I believe that
11:33there is a good chance that we can make it there. However, I would say that there are
11:38some obstacles in our way. Yes. Obstacle number one is that you and
11:44I, who are potentially the most tightly wound, anxious people on the show, do not have access
11:50to the internet or our phones today. The good news is that we have looked at what
11:54our route should be yesterday. Yes. And we memorized it. And I didn't tell you
12:00this, Adam, but you and I are also, we're a studious pair, right? We're a very studious
12:05pair. I made a chant for us. Whoa. Are you ready? What's the chant? It's Strasbourg to
12:12Bra... to... Strasbourg to Basel. Basel to Vist. Vist to Zermatt. That's where we win.
12:18Okay. Great. Can't forget it. But we don't know when any of our trains leave. We know
12:24that the first one leaves around 620. I don't remember what our connection times are for any
12:31of them. Also, if any of our trains gets delayed or canceled, we have no way really of developing
12:36an alternate plan other than by looking at the departure boards. So we'll just be stressed
12:40the whole time. Yes. Even amount of stress. Gosh, I hope we're going the right way to the
12:45train station. Oh, yeah. I'm almost certain that this is the right way.
12:51Gare Centrale? Wait, Gare Centrale is that way? Left.
12:55It's pointing the exact opposite way that we went. Oh. No, that says 30 minutes. That can't
13:00be right. Oh, excuse me? Sorry. If it's a train station? Okay, thank you. Thank you.
13:07I'm going to absolutely level with you. I felt really sure I knew where the train station
13:12was, and I sort of was vague about it to build suspense and tension. And then it turned out
13:16that we fully went the wrong way.
13:27All right. Let's go.
13:29I'm trying to get a beautiful scenery shot, but it's not. All right. So much to say. What's
13:49really, really important to us is that if Ben and Brian get this catch, we cannot, under
13:55any circumstances, let Michelle and Adam catch them back. We have to get them.
14:02Yeah. They have a pretty low cost and efficient route, which I don't love.
14:10I don't love this either.
14:11I mean, do you want to check when...
14:13Nick, they're in Basel at around eight.
14:16They're in Basel. We're not even in Strasbourg at the same time.
14:19Yeah. That's why I'm hoping the others get them.
14:25Do you remember when they're getting in dessert?
14:27Around eight a.m.
14:28Okay.
14:30I'm assuming they make it, which, you know, they're probably running through Charles de Gaulle
14:34right now.
14:35All right.
14:44I love when Sam is wrong.
14:46We made it. Our gate is right here. It hasn't even started boarding yet. I think we made it
14:52through security in like five minutes.
14:54Yeah. Yeah.
14:55Breezed through.
14:56In fact, we even have time for maybe a little coffee, a little breakfast.
15:01Adam.
15:01This lady says it's up here.
15:03I fear the universe of jet lag wants us to keep learning lessons. I don't like these lessons.
15:09Today is not going to be a lesson about hubris, Michelle. Today is going to be a lesson about
15:14the power of Adam and Michelle winning.
15:16Come on. I know a lesson about hubris. Hates to see us coming.
15:20Okay.
15:20I wish we had to go to the board.
15:21Get inside. Look at the departure board. We know that we want to go to Basel. Here we go.
15:27Basel SBB.
15:28Yeah. 621 track six. Okay. So we know that that's us.
15:34Because Strasbourg to Basel, baby.
15:37To track six. No problem.
15:39Is it?
15:40Okay. This is us.
15:44We're leaving.
15:45So I wrote the first letters of all the stops on the back of my Nutella biscuits.
15:52Love that.
15:53Huh?
15:54To C-M-S Basel.
15:57Yeah.
15:57So Basel is the last stop, so it should be easy not to miss.
16:02Hopefully.
16:02Hopefully.
16:03Look what was on the f***ing shelf in the store.
16:16Yeah.
16:17It was like this, but it was like that in the f***ing store.
16:22It's a good omen.
16:24That is, I think, the biggest omen you could possibly ask for.
16:27That's crazy.
16:28Welcome to Team Benjamin, Brian.
16:30Where are Adam and Michelle?
16:32Just before we get on the plane.
16:33They are currently at the train station, though.
16:35Oh, no.
16:36She just moved.
16:37Oh.
16:37No, I think they're on a train.
16:38Yeah.
16:40That's fast.
16:41I sort of expected them to, like, be doing more challenges, but, I mean, I don't know.
16:47Are we able to get from Zurich to Basel when we land quickly?
16:51Yeah.
16:52I mean, there's a train station right at the airport, and so we can hop on a train right
16:56there.
16:56It's just a question of where they'll be by the time we land.
17:00I think almost certainly we're still going to be at home.
17:11Welcome to Garden Horn.
17:13It takes a while for my fear to truly set in, but on that short train ride, it has started
17:19to set in.
17:20Your fear of?
17:21Fear of them going all the way.
17:23I just, I didn't realize that it was that bad, and every minute that passes, I'm getting
17:29more worried.
17:30I was thinking, oh, they'll get slowed down, it'll be fine, but, like, it's Adam and Michelle.
17:36I just am very afraid and worried.
17:39I, I know that there's some curses left, but actually, I don't even know if I am hoping
17:45they get a curse, because there's so many coins from a curse that even just one curse
17:50might allow them to make it.
17:52We shouldn't be too defeatist yet.
17:54They still have five hours of transport.
17:56All right.
17:57Guard your luck.
17:58Honestly, I think we just got to put our hopes in Ben and Brian.
18:03Oh, no.
18:07All right, Brian.
18:08They booked me on a middle seat, even though the plane is empty.
18:12What the hell?
18:13This feels good.
18:14This feels right.
18:15This feels what I'm used to, getting onto a plane.
18:18Well, especially now that they're, they're not even in Strasbourg anymore, this feels 100%
18:21like the route of, yeah, yeah, yeah, off to Zurich.
18:25So, the plane actually took off pretty early, because it's, like, empty empty.
18:46So, right now, the scheduled arrival actually went down.
18:51It looks like we're going to be getting in maybe 20, 25 minutes early.
18:55I mean, we'll see what happens.
18:56But that time might be important.
18:58We'll see.
18:59All right.
19:08Toby, prediction.
19:10Are we about to get Deutsche Bahn?
19:12No.
19:13That's pretty confident.
19:15We can't.
19:15We cannot afford anything.
19:17We certainly cannot afford to get Deutsche Bahn, although that's been the case.
19:19You know who needs to get train troubles is Michelle and Adam.
19:22Well, but that's the crazier thing.
19:23Their route involves zero Deutsche Bahn trains.
19:26Oh, no.
19:28The highly efficient Swiss.
19:31It's on time as of now.
19:32Platform six.
19:36This train's going to go perfectly.
19:49Michelle.
19:57Michelle.
20:00Oh, my God.
20:00Is there bad names?
20:01No, no, no, no.
20:03It is right about the time that that flight to Zurich would leave.
20:10So, we, of course, have no way of knowing, but...
20:14If it left on time and if they're on it.
20:16Yeah.
20:16If Brian and Ben are on that plane, and if it left on time,
20:22then we could be in trouble.
20:27Here's the thing, Adam.
20:30They might be on that plane.
20:32They might be having the time of their lives.
20:34But they don't realize, I will put my body on the floor.
20:38Dang.
20:39I will leave.
20:40I will hop.
20:40I will skip.
20:41It's true.
20:42I will jump up the floor.
20:43We...
20:43My ass is getting to that.
20:45It's her story.
20:46I am really, really hoping that they don't have the coins to make it all the way to the
20:53observatory in Zermatt.
20:55Because, like, I was just looking at their routes.
20:57And if they don't have to slow down, they are going to be moving quickly.
21:01Oh, hey, it's Brian.
21:03You want to sit here, Brian?
21:04I'm worried that they can make it to Basel by the time we land.
21:08Yeah, me too.
21:09I'm hoping that they stop there to do a challenge.
21:12I'm really hoping they stop them to do a challenge.
21:14If we can't intercept them there, then we need to kind of go...
21:18We need to just start going to Zermatt.
21:21Right.
21:21But whether or not we can beat them there, I have no idea.
21:24Yeah.
21:25It all just depends on how much coins they have.
21:27Yes.
21:28Things are going well for us this morning so far.
21:30We made it onto the plane.
21:32The plane took off early.
21:33It's going to land early.
21:34Yeah.
21:34We couldn't have asked for a better start.
21:36No.
21:36We're going to be in Zurich at, like, 7.30.
21:38Yeah, we made the right call, for sure.
21:40For sure.
21:41And that's all we can do.
21:43Play the cards we're dealt.
21:45Yeah.
21:45Meanwhile, Sam and Toby are probably just, like,
21:48puttering around on some train.
21:49I don't even know what they're going to do.
21:50They're probably still in Paris.
21:53Okay, yeah, the flight is airborne.
21:55So it's going to land pretty early.
21:57Maybe they can do something with that.
22:00Just a tiny bit early.
22:01Yeah.
22:02Every little bit helps.
22:06Hopefully they're on it.
22:08Please be on it.
22:10Adam and Michelle are passing through Colmar right now.
22:15Okay.
22:16Just quiet.
22:18So they're on that?
22:19They're on that train going through Colmar.
22:21To Basel?
22:22I suppose.
22:24Yeah.
22:31Michelle, another mark off of the Nutella bag?
22:34Yes.
22:35We are old school with our Nutella basket bag.
22:39That's how the settlers used to navigate,
22:42is by Nutella bag.
22:43Exactly.
22:43They would make these biscuits
22:46to put in these bags
22:48for writing utensils.
22:51These are amazing, by the way.
22:54These Nutella biscuits are the sponsor.
22:55Would you, like, would you care to...
22:57To try one?
22:59No, no, no, Michelle.
23:02Oh, my God.
23:03Michelle, do you know
23:04what stop we're at right now?
23:07S?
23:08Exactly, Michelle.
23:09Okay, Brian, well, it looks like before we get to Zurich,
23:12we have a quick layover in, uh, another well-known Schengen territory.
23:19Do you know what it is?
23:20I think I do.
23:22It's the Snack Zone.
23:24That's right.
23:25We're in the Snack Zone, baby.
23:26I'm going to the Snack Zone.
23:28I've never been.
23:29I'm so excited.
23:30Welcome to Snack Zone.
23:38It's a show that you can show
23:39where we review the world's greatest snacks.
23:41Today, we are going to be trying
23:42the chocolate
23:43that they give you
23:44on Swiss flights.
23:46We're going to be trying
23:47Nutella biscuits.
23:48Here we go.
23:49You know what it reminds me of?
23:57You know what that tastes exactly like?
23:58The sweet taste of victory.
24:00It tastes exactly like my favorite food,
24:02which is Advent calendars.
24:19All right.
24:33Brian,
24:34do you know their location?
24:38They're coming into Basel.
24:40Oh, f***.
24:42They're just beside the Basel airport.
24:45And they're moving into the city.
24:47Oh, f***, yeah.
24:50Oh, f***.
24:53They didn't stop on the way to Basel.
24:55They're in Basel.
24:56Well, like,
24:57they're probably going to have to stop there, right?
25:01Maybe.
25:02We're going to have to hurry.
25:03Yeah.
25:12Michelle, I believe that we are now
25:14in the great country of Switzerland.
25:16Oh, my God.
25:17Oh, my God.
25:18Oh, my God.
25:19The fields are alive
25:20with the sound of us.
25:26All right, Michelle.
25:27We need to find a departure board.
25:29A...
25:29Departure board.
25:39Departure board.
25:40I've actually been to this station before.
25:43You've been here before?
25:43I've been to departure boards in here.
25:44Okay.
25:46Yeah, up there.
25:47Does anything say this?
25:49No.
25:50The Aberne, Tune, Spies.
25:53That's to Zurich, so that's wrong.
25:56Aeschel, VL, I don't know what that...
25:59Oh, you can touch it.
26:01Yeah.
26:01Oh, incredible.
26:01Okay.
26:01So it's not that.
26:03So go back.
26:04But remember, it was a really...
26:05That's to Strasbourg, so that's not it.
26:07It was a really quick...
26:08Yeah, yeah.
26:08I know, I know, I know.
26:10We need, like...
26:11Oh, my God.
26:11S***.
26:12Oh, it's to Brigg.
26:14It's the one to Brigg.
26:15Brigg 7.
26:18It's this one.
26:18It's to Brigg.
26:19Adam.
26:19It's to Brigg.
26:20Adam.
26:20Adam.
26:21I talked to a human.
26:22I got it.
26:22Brigg.
26:23To Brigg.
26:23Brigg.
26:24Yeah, yeah.
26:25Okay.
26:25I sprinted into the customer service.
26:27I was like, this?
26:29It's like, this one, it's Brigg.
26:31Okay.
26:31We've acquired one sheet of paper.
26:33Rode down the route.
26:34Getting on the 756 to Brigg.
26:36I mean, this is in many ways just a testament to how good the infrastructure of Swiss trains is.
26:41Yeah.
26:42Like, the fact that there were enormous touchscreens that you could use to tell you exactly what to do.
26:58We've got to get to the observatory as fast as we can because they don't show any signs of slowing down.
27:04Yeah.
27:06We've got to get to Brigg as fast as we can.
27:27Michelle, we are on our way to Beautiful Fists.
27:30Now, if I recall correctly, this is the route where they could potentially intercept us.
27:36Correct.
27:37I believe that their plane...
27:39Would have landed at 8 in 3 minutes.
27:42Okay.
27:43So, I just don't know.
27:46We didn't look far enough into it to figure out if they can intercept us or not.
27:50But, I mean, what I know is that if they landed in Zurich, Zurich is southeast of us.
27:57So, they are south of us and we're going south.
28:00But they're east.
28:02So, it's just a question of can they get far enough west before we get far enough south?
28:09And I don't know the answer to that question.
28:11Yeah.
28:11And if they were to get from Zurich to this, we will have no way of knowing because we can't use any...
28:20No, we can't check, like, flight radar cam 4 or anything.
28:23Should we use our cloak power-up?
28:24But, to me, the problem with it is they know where train we're on and they'll know what train we're trying to get on.
28:31So, I think it's useless.
28:32Yeah.
28:32I think that the best way to use it would be once we get to Zermatt.
28:38Because the thing is, from Zermatt, we have to actually get to the Gorner Graf Observatory.
28:44And I have no idea how you get there.
28:48I truly have no clue.
28:51I don't even know how far away it is from the train station.
28:53Is it...
28:55It's in Zermatt Preffer, though, right?
28:57Probably.
28:59I just know that it's an observatory on a mountain.
29:03Oh, my God.
29:04This is all to say, I think that we should use the cloak from the station to the observatory.
29:10But, look, none of this even matters because they didn't even make that flight.
29:13And we're cutting to them now.
29:15And they're sitting on the sidewalk.
29:18And they're really upset and bummed out.
29:20And we're not cutting to them landing in Zurich.
29:24Yeah, this is the station.
29:33Do you know what platform we're at?
29:34I think it said platform four, but here, this way, this way.
29:40Right down here, right down here.
29:44Hello, wake you up.
29:45Yeah.
29:45They no longer seem to be in the train station.
29:49Did they leave?
29:50I can't tell.
29:51Like, I've got this big...
29:52Yeah, it looks like they left.
29:53When it's that big circle, it usually means they left.
29:58Yeah, they're on their way.
29:59They got on the...
30:00They got on the 756.
30:02I think this whole thing is going to come down to a matter of just a couple of minutes.
30:05Yeah.
30:11All right, Brian.
30:12Let's hope this train is enough.
30:17I hope so.
30:22All right, here we go, Brian.
30:24We're going to get them.
30:25I think we're going to get them, even if they don't stop.
30:27Yeah.
30:29Like, I actually think that there's a chance we get in front of them anyway.
30:32Okay.
30:32Okay.
30:32Okay.
30:42How much French do you speak?
31:11So, supprimer.
31:16You hear him just say that?
31:17That means canceled.
31:20This train is canceled?
31:23Yes.
31:25That's a shame.
31:26I want to be in there.
31:37Oh, that looks lovely.
31:39It does.
31:39You could go for a little bit of that.
31:42There's no time, Brian.
31:44There's no time.
31:45We're on the hunt.
31:46There's no time.
31:47Maybe later.
31:48Maybe later.
31:49Maybe later.
31:49Let's check up on them.
31:51Where are they?
31:52They're coming in to burn.
31:56Man.
31:57If they get off and burn, we could get them.
32:02Let's hope.
32:03We're sort of just behind them right now.
32:07We just need to get the schedules to line up in a way where we can get to them before they can get on another train.
32:14And I just don't know if it's going to happen before the observatory.
32:20I think we're like right behind them right now.
32:23Ah, Jesus.
32:25All right, so we're at burn, which is, I don't even know if they could have gotten here, but I think we should just keep an eye out.
32:40Pulling the shade down a little.
32:46I think we're good.
32:47How many more stops?
32:49Three more stops until this.
32:52Yeah, we'll see.
32:55If not for that, we totally would have got them.
32:59All right, well, let's find the next one.
33:01Look at that.
33:03It's a nice little train over there.
33:04Well, it's the Orange Express.
33:06Wow.
33:07You know the Orange Express, right?
33:08Yeah, yeah, it's that right there.
33:10It's kind of famous.
33:13The train nerds will love that.
33:14This one's going to go perfectly.
33:23The train works.
33:25I really didn't get to see much of stress, Borg, especially given you were raving about it.
33:30Yeah.
33:30You got to see the Orange Express, though.
33:32That was cool.
33:40Michelle, we've been stopped at burn for quite a while.
33:43Don't give me a heart attack.
33:50The most beautiful and perfect country in the world.
33:58Switzerland.
33:58It looks like they continue past burn.
34:03So I think they're going all the way to Visp.
34:06I think our next chance to get them is going to be in Visp.
34:09Yeah.
34:09It's like, once they get to Visp, if they wait around even for a couple minutes too long, we'll be there.
34:19Okay.
34:20I think that we are entering the danger zone, Michelle.
34:24Yes.
34:24According to my piece of paper, we are almost at Toon.
34:30I mean, I don't even know for sure.
34:32I think that Toon would be around the point at which they might be able to catch up to us from Zurich.
34:39But there's just no way for Camille for sure.
34:41And we're really going off of Vibes for this, which is not a good metric.
34:47It's largely a Vibes-based calculation.
34:50You know what else, Adam?
34:51What's that?
34:51There is something about me that you haven't noticed this whole time or said anything about.
34:57Well, the last time you asked Sam this question, it was about your nails.
35:00So I am going to guess that it relates to your nails.
35:04Because they're green.
35:05Oh, they're green.
35:05They're green.
35:07Oh, wait.
35:07Are we going to see it?
35:08Oh.
35:10Okay.
35:16Do you see that?
35:17No, no, no.
35:18But let's just, all right.
35:20Sort of, I think we weren't going to stay.
35:25I don't see it.
35:26I didn't see it.
35:28Here's a map.
35:29Do I delay?
35:31Oh, yes, a map.
35:32We've been looking for that.
35:34Okay.
35:34So we started in Basel.
35:35And now we're, we're in tune.
35:39We're going.
35:40To Spies.
35:40To Spies.
35:42And then Vesp.
35:42And then Vesp.
35:43Oh, we've told him a while.
35:44Yes.
35:46We'll go.
35:47To Zermatt.
35:47To Zermatt.
35:48And then, oh, it says Gornorbrot.
35:51Oh.
35:53Oh.
35:55Is that where the observatory is?
35:56Yeah.
35:57So I wonder if you can just connect.
35:59Oh, that's much further from Zermatt than I thought it was.
36:01I thought it was going to be like, we should open this key town and.
36:04Hooray.
36:05Yeah.
36:05Well, the other thing is we need to figure out how long that train is.
36:09Because we need to figure out how long that is just in terms of points.
36:13I mean, we can't actually look up how long that train is.
36:17So we don't know until we get there?
36:19Yeah.
36:19Then we have to find out where and what it is.
36:22We may have to do a challenge.
36:23We may have to find out where and what it is.
36:53Go.
36:55Go for it.
36:56Yeah.
36:57If we move quickly, we can make a train to Visp.
37:00And then we'll be right on their tail.
37:19Adam and Michelle have not let up.
37:23But we are not letting up either.
37:26We just need them.
37:28Oh, Brian.
37:34We just need them to get to stop for a second.
37:38Or slip up just a little bit.
37:40Yeah.
37:41No, we got them.
37:43I need to limber up.
37:44It's so old.
37:45Looking good, Brian.
37:49Looking good.
37:49You're looking good.
37:50You're looking good.
37:50I don't know.
37:57Look, I'm pretty confident at this point we're not making the catch.
38:00Ben and Brian, we don't know where they are.
38:02If I get a text that just says catch, you know, someone makes the catch, I'll be so elated.
38:10Yeah.
38:10So elated.
38:11And look, we don't know.
38:12Maybe Michelle and Adam are cursed in some way that, you know.
38:18The only good curse could be the odd-numbered times.
38:24Well, yeah.
38:25Or like the no phone for navigation one.
38:28Well, if they do have that, like my one hope would be that they don't know how to get up to the Gornergrad Observatory.
38:35Because it's a little, it's a cog railway, basically.
38:39Okay.
38:40And to get on the cog railway, I mean, I've been there, you would maybe think you just leave from the main station in Vermont.
38:48Yeah.
38:49Because it's the railway station, but you don't.
38:52You walk a couple blocks away to another station specifically for that cog railway.
38:58Anyway, and there's like, there's this sliver of a leaf of hope that they actually didn't have enough coins and are doing one more challenge.
39:07Or a delay, or cancellation, or they just get, I don't know.
39:11What if the observatory train is cancelled?
39:13That could be good, because like that's like, you know.
39:15Or it's sold out, or there's a landslide, or an avalanche, or the mountains fall over.
39:24A lot of things can happen.
39:25Well, aliens could come to the observatory, too.
39:27Yeah, I don't know if that would prevent them from getting there, but it would be cool.
39:32To be honest, I wouldn't mind going to the observatory.
39:35I quite like observatories.
39:36If they make it all the way there, then we all go there, because that's where the next round starts from.
39:40Mm-hmm.
39:55Just in case.
39:57Okay, Adam.
40:02Next stop is Visp.
40:03Visp, I think, is our biggest risk.
40:06Because if our train does or not is delayed, or if they intercept us there, I think Visp would be the most likely place for us to get intercepted.
40:16It looks like they just made it to the base of the Bernese Alps.
40:21On rock slide.
40:23On rock slide.
40:25Anything.
40:27Something.
40:27Do you want to call on a bomb threat?
40:29Bomb threat.
40:30Not from us, but just from someone else.
40:34That way we don't get in trouble.
40:35I'm avoiding the edgy humor this season, Ben.
40:38Okay, all right.
40:38No, you're woke now.
40:41No, Brian's woke now.
40:43I just don't want people to think I'm a Republican, especially now.
40:46It's 10.04, so they're just pulling into Visp now.
40:51And for the next 10 minutes, they're going to be making a transfer onto the next one to Zermatt.
40:58I'm not really sure what could go wrong, but I'm hoping for it.
41:03Yep.
41:11They said next is this.
41:16Yeah, I mean, this is where it's going to be hairy.
41:20Yeah.
41:23Okay, so this time, we also don't know how long our transfer is.
41:28But this time, we also don't know if they're here.
41:31They're here.
41:32So.
41:33You gotta move.
41:38Okay, I don't see anybody.
41:45Okay.
41:46Let's go find a departure board, because, again, I have no idea how long we're supposed to have before our transfer.
41:53They just pulled into, uh...
41:54Oh, really?
41:55Yeah, they just pulled into Visp.
41:56F***.
41:58Unfortunately.
41:59Damn.
42:00Uh, seemingly on time.
42:01But there's a train in just a few minutes that they need to make.
42:05And so if they miss that train for any reason, I think they're in trouble.
42:11If they make that train, then it might be us who are in trouble, Brian.
42:16Departure board.
42:17Zermatt?
42:18Zermatt?
42:18Zermatt.
42:19Three.
42:20But there are two.
42:23Zermatt Track 3.
42:25Which one is faster?
42:27This one leaves early.
42:29It leaves in seven minutes.
42:31Okay.
42:32Track 3.
42:32Okay, so just be careful, because they might be staking out this platform.
42:37Zermatt, do you see...
42:55Zermatt, do you see...
42:59Okay, it shows a line to Garnagrad.
43:02Let me write it down.
43:04So, we are...
43:07Oh, Adam, there is distance between these two.
43:10It's not out of the same station to go to Garnagrad.
43:13I think we are going to have to cross town to get on this.
43:18Then we ride this.
43:19One, two, three, four, five stops.
43:28Yeah, they made it out of this.
43:31We got one more chance to catch them in Zermatt.
43:37F***.
43:38We just have to get to Zermatt before they get on the Cog Railway up to...
43:43the observatory.
43:45I mean, we're only, like, 15, 20 minutes behind them, so...
43:50We got...
43:52We got one more chance.
43:56I'm not a doctor, but I am strange.
43:59Very good.
44:00Very good.
44:01Oh, my God.
44:03What?
44:03That's so pretty.
44:06Look out there.
44:09That's crazy.
44:11That's so beautiful.
44:13I was just looking for the bikes, and I was, like, actually tearing up looking at the two.
44:20Oh, my gosh.
44:20Look out there.
44:22I love it here in Switzerland.
44:26Oh, my God.
44:27Look at that.
44:28It's not where we're going.
44:29I don't think that's where we're going, but I think we're going somewhere very similar to that.
44:32Oh.
44:34Oh.
44:35Oh, we're, like...
44:36We're, like, going to space today.
44:38I think we're going higher than that.
44:41So, right now, we're at 651.
44:45Our legs have gained quite a lot of elevation.
44:47Are we, like, physically prepared for this?
44:51I would say no.
44:52We're about to go to somewhere that's 3,000 meters up to this.
44:56Oh.
44:57It might be a chilly situation.
44:59That's, like, a couple miles up.
45:01It is.
45:02I'm making myself seem so rare.
45:03I think that I'm almost certain that that is about two miles up.
45:06All right.
45:10Now, we go to Zermatt.
45:13I think Platform 3.
45:15We're this f***ing close, Brian.
45:17Well, at least we are going to tag them.
45:20And we're going to make Sam come last.
45:22And that's all the consolation prize I need.
45:24Whoa.
45:25Okay.
45:26If we survive.
45:27All right.
45:29Here it is.
45:30All right, Brian.
45:31All right.
45:31Adam and Michelle, stop.
45:40Please, stop.
45:42I'm begging you, stop.
45:45Just for a second.
45:52So we are delayed.
45:54All right, God.
45:56Five minutes.
45:57Here's the thing.
45:58I'm not super worried about a five-minute delay.
46:01What I worry about is if a five-minute delay turns into a bigger delay.
46:05Here's the other thing.
46:06Here's my biggest worry at the moment.
46:09There was another train to Zermatt a half hour after this one.
46:12We saw that on the departure board.
46:14If they made that train, and if we have a longer than 30-minute connection to the cog railway,
46:22which we have no idea how often that runs.
46:24We might be backpacking, hiking up a mountain.
46:29Adam, have you come to that realization yet?
46:31Because we need to be drinking more water.
46:34I am hopeful that we will avoid hiking 1,500 meters of elevation.
46:43Now, arguably, what they'll do is they'll take the train up, and they'd camp the observatory.
46:47Of course.
46:48Right.
46:49So I don't know that hiking gets us what we need.
46:52I would argue that hiking is more risk than benefit.
46:56Unless you think about it in the sense of we're going to be out there,
47:01and we just got to be out there through tomorrow.
47:04We can't out there.
47:05We can't out on the mountain.
47:08How far is it going to go, Adam?
47:09Stop again.
47:10Thank you so much for watching this season, which, trust me, has so many more episodes
47:22because everything's going to go fine.
47:24Everything is totally fine.
47:26We have it completely under control.
47:27First of all, that's what I want to say.
47:28Okay, I would say we have it under control.
47:29Well, collectively, we have it completely under control.
47:32Everything is fine.
47:34But thank you for watching this on Nebula, by the way.
47:36And don't forget to check out this week's episode of The Layover.
47:39We've got Michelle on this week, as she is currently the runner with Adam over there.
47:44And you want to know something interesting?
47:46A lot of previous jet lag guests are here on Nebula.
47:49You can watch Toby's wonderful channel, Tibby's, about mathematics.
47:52You can watch Brian's wonderful channel, Real Engineering.
47:55You can also watch his Nebula series, The Battle of Britain.
47:58You can also check out, from season two, Joseph from Real Life Lore's series,
48:03Mad Kings, which is a series about dictators.
48:05And it's actually, I have to say, quite good.
48:08Okay.
48:09Oh, bye.
48:10That was the end.
48:10I was done talking.
48:11We should say bye.
48:12Oh, okay.
48:12Bye.
48:12Yeah.
