00:00Thailand and Cambodia have agreed to an immediate ceasefire following months of Delhi fighting
00:06across their shared border.
00:08The most important point in this joint statement is that both sides shall maintain their current
00:14troop levels in the area with no movement or reinforcement towards one another and no
00:22renew attacks or provocations. The ceasefire will be monitored and observed for 72 hours
00:29to confirm that it is real and continuous.
00:34The ceasefire was signed by the two countries defense ministers and aims to end fighting along
00:38the disputed border. The conflict has killed dozens of people and displaced more than half a million.
00:45As part of the agreement residents from border areas will be able to return to their homes.
00:50This comes after both sides accused one another of violating an earlier ceasefire deal
00:55brokered in part by U.S. President Donald Trump.
