00:00F***ing terrible.
00:01I would have never dated you in college.
00:05F***.
00:08I have decided to go in the direction of real estate.
00:12If this doesn't work out, what are you going to do?
00:16Come up with something that you have as a backup plan as well.
00:21Oh my gosh.
00:23My friend Anita has a daughter that has autism and Tourette's syndrome.
00:28And you remember the link I sent you on the device?
00:32New Pulse.
00:33Kind of like deep brain stimulation, but not invasive.
00:36I think you should explore it.
00:38You got that baby fever going on.
00:40I don't have baby fever.
00:41I just want kids.
00:43Colin's really moving up the timeline here.
00:46I actually have a question for the doctor.
00:49How your medications would work when you're pregnant?
00:53We're not talking about this right now.
00:58You're excited to meet Dr. Flaherty?
01:20I am.
01:21I'm really excited to meet her.
01:22We're in Boston to meet with my neurologist, Dr. Flaherty.
01:25She's been my regular doctor ever since my parents and I met her last year.
01:30We usually do virtual appointments because Boston's about nine hours away.
01:34But I do want to see her in person because I have some serious concerns.
01:38I have a nine-inch penis.
01:41That's a serious concern.
01:45Hopefully she can give us the reel on everything.
01:47Yeah.
01:47I was able to get a couple of days off of work to be able to go with Balin.
01:52Her parents usually go to these appointments, but since we're getting married, I want to
01:57be able to, like, step in and be there for her.
02:01Hello.
02:01I like to usually always have someone come with me to my doctor's appointments because
02:06I always forget something.
02:08It's good to see you.
02:09This is my fiancée, Colin.
02:11Very nice to meet you.
02:12And it's his first time at a doctor's appointment ever.
02:15I've heard a lot of great things about you, so I'm excited.
02:19Dick.
02:20So what's on your mind to talk about?
02:23A lot.
02:25I have several other conditions on top of my Tourette's, including a mood disorder that
02:30can definitely increase my tics.
02:33My doctor prescribed a medication a little while ago that helps with my mood.
02:41However, one of its unfortunate side effects is weight gain.
02:46I know the medicine that you put me on for my mood.
02:49It's been working, but I also am just concerned with the fact that since I've been on it, I've
02:55gained 18 pounds.
02:57Getting on this new mood stabilizer has really, really helped.
03:01But with the wedding coming up and getting some comments online questioning if I'm pregnant
03:07or not, the weight gain has definitely started to affect my mental health.
03:11A lot of the medicines that boost serotonin, it turns out they actually block what are called
03:17satiety receptors in your gut, the things that tell you you're no longer hungry.
03:21So when they're blocked, your brain is getting a message, you're still hungry, you're still
03:24hungry.
03:25Wow.
03:26It's a major side effect.
03:27You know, it's not like just cosmetic.
03:28It's important for your health that you can maintain a normal weight.
03:33So in my mind, the new meds, the GLP-1 agonists, they're the best treatment for it.
03:41GLP-1 agonists are drugs that you take weekly injections and they decrease the brain's desire
03:48for food.
03:49That's what I'd recommend is to start one of those meds.
03:51And I can stay on the other meds I like?
03:54Yeah.
03:54Yay.
03:56I'm really glad that I'm able to stay on my existing medication to help with my mood.
04:00Ooh, ooh, dick!
04:02And tics.
04:03Hopefully I'm able with the GLP-1 to lose some weight and regain my confidence back.
04:10How is your physical pain?
04:12Terrible.
04:13Tell me.
04:14I've had numbness.
04:16It's in my pinky and my ring and my thumb.
04:20Mm-hmm.
04:20I think it's from hitting myself when I tick.
04:23I'll hit, like, my chest.
04:27Um, but there'll be times, like, I've hit my head off doors, things like that.
04:32I like to either smack it back against walls.
04:34Yep.
04:35Or hit tables with the front of my head.
04:37Uh-huh.
04:37Yeah, yeah.
04:38My motor tics cause me so much pain and exhaust me.
04:44Just moving my neck casually really hurts when you do it 300 times a day.
04:49When Baylin's dealing with her motor tics, literally you just have to, like, sit there
04:54and make sure that she doesn't really hurt herself.
04:59But it is hard to sit by and watch.
05:02Watch that tic reel in that tic.
05:03So one thing I can tell you pretty certainly is that the hand-tingling problem that you're
05:08having is not from hitting your head.
05:10That is something that's, if you're gaining weight and you're also getting, like, puffy
05:14skin from it being hot and, you know, you've got fluid, extra swelling in your skin, that
05:19can make those nerves pinch.
05:20Huh.
05:21That's a relief.
05:22Yeah.
05:23I want to ask you about something else I heard about.
05:26There's this device called NuPulse.
05:29Mm-hmm.
05:29I know it's a non-invasive device that you wear that helps her tics.
05:34Yeah.
05:35So there's not that much known about it, but it's doing it through electrical stimulation
05:40and it seems to quiet things down a little bit, so.
05:43Have you read into any of the clinical studies that they've done?
05:47A little bit, yes.
05:48And it seemed like it had a significant effect, like they were reasonable papers.
05:53It seemed like it's pretty safe.
05:54And is it specifically for, like, your motor tics or will it also help your vocal tics as
06:01well?
06:02I don't think so, but why not try it?
06:05I could be so wrong.
06:06You know, maybe it would help the hitting tics.
06:07Mm-hmm.
06:08That would be good.
06:09That's what we were hoping.
06:10The NuPulse bracelet is different from deep brain stimulation, which we decided wasn't going
06:15to be helpful for her.
06:16It doesn't require surgery.
06:18It's something you just put on your wrist.
06:19For someone with bad tics, if NuPulse helps those tics, it can be life-changing.
06:26They'll go out more.
06:27They can do more activities.
06:29They may not injure themselves as often.
06:31Well, I would love to try this device.
06:35Yeah.
06:36It's not available here.
06:37If you did want to try it, you'd have to go to the UK, I'm afraid.
06:41Yeah.
06:44We're definitely going to have to, like, talk about it.
06:47Yeah.
06:47Um, okay, so I'll prescribe that GLP-1 agonist, and we can talk about how to administer it.
06:55I actually do have one more question.
06:57Um, if we plan on having a family and having kids, the medications that she's on right now,
07:05how is that going to affect her during pregnancy if she would have to get off of any or get on
07:10new ones?
07:10Um, it's definitely something we can talk about and think a lot about.
07:17But the meds that you're on, I think, are okay.
07:21Okay.
07:22Um, no more baby questions.
07:24Balin had said that she's done having the conversation about kids, but I wasn't bringing
07:32it up to her.
07:33I was bringing it up to the doctor.
07:34And it wasn't about kids.
07:36It was about being pregnant.
07:39So, a little bit different.
07:40Oh, yeah.
07:41Huge difference.
07:43Huge.
07:44Huge.
07:45Sometimes it's just like, no means no.
07:47Mm-hmm.
07:48Are you ready?
07:49Yeah, I'm ready to go.
07:50Okay.
07:51Okay.
07:52Thank you so much.
07:53Yeah, thank you.
07:54Yeah, it's great to see you both.
07:55It was nice to meet you.
07:56Bye.
07:57It was really nice to be a part of Balin's neurologist appointment.
08:00It was really cool to learn the ins and outs.
08:03And I would love to be able to come to more of these appointments.
08:13We stopped and got these umbrellas in case it rains.
08:15Yeah, because it does look like it is about to rain.
08:18Very...
08:19I can take it.
08:20Sweet.
08:22Very pretty city, though.
08:23It is.
08:24You know, just chill right here and take in this view.
08:27I'd love to.
08:28Piece of .
08:29Bald bitch!
08:30Do the bald people have to stand right there?
08:32Bald bitch!
08:33Oh, my...
08:34Goddamn!
08:36He has the biggest mustache I've ever seen in my entire life.
08:38That's a squirrel!
08:41Oh, my God.
08:42When I tick at random strangers, it can feel...
08:47...annoying.
08:48You little wanker!
08:50You little wanker!
08:52In all Nantucket, they all wankers.
08:55Nantucket?
08:56Nantucket.
08:57There's a boat over there that says Nantucket.
08:58What do you want me to do?
08:59Everything's in my peripheral.
09:00Everybody's screwed right now.
09:02But, like, sometimes you just can't help it.
09:04Sometimes it's just like, what the do we have going on here?
09:09I really like Alice.
09:10She's really smart.
09:11She's heard about New Pulse.
09:12Isn't that exciting?
09:13It's really nice that she is saying, hey, it's not going to hurt.
09:16Right?
09:17But then there's also, like, the flip side of it is like...
09:19It's not going to hurt, but you got to go all the way to the UK.
09:21Yeah.
09:22It's starting to rain.
09:24All right.
09:25Oh, there are minis.
09:26Oh.
09:27All right.
09:28I feel like I'm in the UK right now.
09:30Hello.
09:31Hello.
09:32I'll be speaking in a British accent the entire time we're over there if we go.
09:35Yeah.
09:36But in reality, hopping on a plane and leaving tomorrow isn't, like, our best bet with wedding
09:42planning and saving money.
09:45Devices that can help reduce ticks don't come around often.
09:49But money isn't the only obstacle with a trip like this.
09:52You're winning!
09:53Mother .
09:55I have never gone to that part of the world, so who really knows how my ticks will be triggered
10:00there.
10:01Plus, Colin's going to have to get time off of work.
10:03I'm going to have to get a passport.
10:05And there is my struggle with plane travel.
10:08I'm worried about the flight.
10:11Like, whenever I navigate the airport is when I'm the most anxious.
10:14Yeah.
10:15And it's not-
10:16For me, I'm anxious when we take off.
10:18But also, I don't like the idea of flying over water the entire time.
10:23So you're actually more nervous than me to fly?
10:26Yeah.
10:27Do you know how many planes go missing just poof when they're flying over water?
10:31I don't like that.
10:32Why are we talking about this right now?
10:34I'm just saying.
10:35You're not helping my anxiety at all.
10:37Well, that's where my anxiety is.
10:39Okay, that's great.
10:40Suck it back in.
10:41I've known that Colin has flight anxiety.
10:43It's not new to me.
10:44Because when me and Colin took a trip to L.A., Colin's anxiety on that flight was terrible.
10:51Yeah.
10:52But I feel like I can hold myself together to the point where I'm not making Balin's anxiety,
10:57like, really bad.
10:58But, I mean, at the end of the day, I'm still going to have anxiety about it.
11:01Like, that's literally how planes go missing.
11:03They crash on the water.
11:04Here we go.
11:05Here we go.
11:06Here we go.
11:07You can't even hold it together right now.
11:10Oh, my God.
11:12Anyway, we still haven't even heard back about our budget regarding the wedding.
11:16So, I mean, I think it would be kind of irrational to go ahead and fly over to the UK.
11:21Oh, yeah, completely.
11:22I know.
11:23And I don't think...
11:24I just think that I'm going to bring it up to my mom, let her know about how the conversation
11:28went, her and my dad.
11:29Yeah.
11:30Because they would know best.
11:32And just kind of see what they're advised and what they would kind of say to go from
11:36there.
11:37Yeah.
11:38It's fine with me.
11:40If this device actually works for Balin, it would be a complete game changer for her.
11:45But taking a trip to the UK is not the most realistic thing to do right now.
11:53Eat a bag of dicks.
11:55There's really not a safe place on a golf course around Balin.
11:59Just tap it in.
12:02Miss it, bitch.
12:04Hmm.
12:05Hmm.
12:06It was a really good trip.
12:09Did you bring up the new pulse to her?
12:12Yes, I did.
12:13And she gave it a go.
12:14I don't think I realized how much I actually want this until this moment.
12:32Me and Colin got back from Boston yesterday.
12:35And I'm at my parents to pick up the dogs because my parents were pet sitting.
12:39But first, my brothers offered to help me with a little problem I have.
12:44Okay.
12:45Who's helping me?
12:46Hey, bae.
12:47What's up?
12:48I'm going golfing with Colin, and I need help with my swing.
12:51Colin's meeting up with an old friend later this week, and we'll be playing golf with
12:55him.
12:56I'm not good.
12:57I probably need the most help with driving.
13:02Bag.
13:03I don't want to get hit in the teeth.
13:06In the past, my tics have definitely interfered with me golfing.
13:08I've thrown the club a couple times.
13:10I like to eat the ball, throw the ball.
13:12You're ticking, so you have to put it in your mouth.
13:14Can you put it in there?
13:15No, I just shoot it out.
13:16Oh, so you just put it in your mouth.
13:17Mm-hmm.
13:19Isn't it supposed to be like a fist away?
13:22Fist away?
13:23I don't know.
13:24Don't you guys golf?
13:26Yeah, but I just go up there and hit.
13:28I'm naturally good at everything I do.
13:29Congrats.
13:30I'm not.
13:32So am I, by the way.
13:33No, you're not.
13:34Yes, I am.
13:35Holy .
13:37Damn.
13:38Yeah.
13:39This is going to hit me on the golf course.
13:40All right, babe.
13:41Let me see that club.
13:42You can learn from the best over here.
13:44Beckner, who's the best golfer in the family?
13:46Um, probably Sven.
13:48Sven.
13:49This one's for a scholarship.
13:51Yeah.
13:52I don't know what you're talking about.
13:54Oh, good shot.
13:56Holy .
13:58I'm going over here to hit it now.
14:00What does it take to be a good golfer?
14:02Endurance.
14:03Endurance.
14:04Confidence.
14:05What?
14:06You swing one club and then you just pick up and walk.
14:08That's not endurance.
14:09Yeah, but you've got to do the same thing for the next time,
14:12and it has to be just as good.
14:15So consistency, not endurance.
14:17What is endurance mean?
14:19I don't know.
14:20There it is.
14:23That's a good shot.
14:24That's a good hit.
14:25Sweet.
14:26There we go.
14:27You all have a good night and a good day.
14:30I'm out.
14:36When you know, I'm literally going to hurt you.
14:40Is that poison ivy?
14:42No.
14:43It's shiny.
14:44Okay.
14:45There are wider leaves.
14:46There are three.
14:47Hi.
14:48What are you doing?
14:50Your mother's learning about yard care.
14:53Yeah, make sure that's closed.
14:55Oh, my goodness.
14:56Hi, everybody.
14:57Do they look heavier?
14:58Hi.
14:59And snacks.
15:00Thank you guys for watching them.
15:04Hey.
15:07It was a really good trip, not going to lie.
15:09What did you learn with, like, your medicine and the unintended weight pain?
15:16Yes, and she told me that everyone that experiences this specific type of side effect
15:22with this specific type of medicine, she prescribes a GLP-1.
15:26Oh.
15:27And I'm like, okay, sick.
15:29Give me it.
15:31In the past, Balin has actually stopped taking certain medications
15:34because they've caused her to gain weight.
15:36So I'm essentially comfortable with Balin taking this GLP-1
15:40because she can stay on the mood stabilizer,
15:43which is actually working that she needs to stay on.
15:47More importantly, what I'm aching to get to,
15:50is did you bring up the new pulse to her?
15:53Yes, I did.
15:54And she gave it a go.
15:56Like a go-go?
15:57Like what?
15:58Like she's looked at clinical studies,
15:59she's read things, and dick, and then talk at the old wankers.
16:03I picked that up in Boston.
16:05What's a wanker?
16:06Masturbator.
16:07Oh my god, help us.
16:09Gosh.
16:13What?
16:14What?
16:15I love it.
16:16I'm like numb to the idea of like all her tics at this point.
16:21Like nothing's off limits.
16:23Just nothing.
16:24Okay, anyways, moving on.
16:27So she's basically like, give it a go.
16:29Give it a go, except for it's in the UK.
16:33So I'd love to go.
16:35But like with wedding planning right now, it's just not in our budget.
16:39It's just not.
16:43Hmm.
16:44I tend to be the person pushing Balin to explore new treatments,
16:48but I do realize a trip like this could be very challenging.
16:53There's money issues, the logistics of the airport,
16:56the length of the flight, and that's if Colin can get the time off work.
17:01So did you ever say anything to Colin about the possibility of this happening?
17:06And like, who would even go?
17:07Well, I would think you and Colin, right?
17:09Well, speaking of Colin, that man's got flight anxiety.
17:12He has flight anxiety?
17:14Oh, wow, this is the blind leading the blind.
17:16He needs to be dosed up.
17:17He needs to be dosed up.
17:18This is...
17:19Okay, there's lots of...
17:20No, there's some things where I'm like,
17:21Isn't he in the air force?
17:22That's not helping my anxiety, babe.
17:24That's not helping it.
17:25I didn't know that about him.
17:27Mm-hmm.
17:28That's fantastic.
17:29Oh, my gosh.
17:30Maybe it's just a long flight that he's worried about
17:32or an ocean or something.
17:33Could be.
17:34Yeah.
17:35But I don't know.
17:36I wouldn't join the Navy if I didn't like boats.
17:37I feel so bad for him, but it's like, oh, my gosh.
17:40How is this going to work?
17:42Because she needs a lot of help when she's traveling.
17:46It's a really cool device.
17:48It would be really awesome if we'd be able to get over there.
17:50To be able to, like, see in that moment how much it helps
17:54and how much it doesn't is...
17:56Oh, it would be like the opportunity of a lifetime.
17:58Yeah.
17:59I don't think I realize how much I actually want this
18:05until this moment.
18:07The device is not available in the U.S. yet,
18:10but maybe it will be here before my wedding,
18:12which is, like, ten months away.
18:14It would be extremely uncomfortable and painful
18:17to feel like I have to hold my own ticks in on my wedding day.
18:20So I would really like to try it as soon as possible.
18:24Finding out now that it works for me
18:26could really ease my anxiety.
18:28But there's a lot of obstacles standing in the way.
18:31I just don't want to get, like, all my hopes up.
18:38I have a gun.
18:39Does it have to be on the front?
18:41Woo-hoo!
18:42Woo-hoo-hoo!
18:43You're bald, sir.
18:45Well, I totally get why she wants to go.
18:47Why would we leave any stone unturned at this point?
18:50I have been the one encouraging Balin to check out New Pulse,
18:54and I believe it's still worth exploring.
18:57Financially, their wedding's their top priority right now.
19:00You think that they're not going to go?
19:01Yeah.
19:02And I don't want that to happen.
19:17Hey, bitch.
19:21Even though we don't know if we're going to London yet
19:24to try the new Pulse device,
19:26I don't want the fact that I don't have a passport
19:28to get in the way of that,
19:30especially since they can take a while to get.
19:32So I decided to take a rideshare today
19:35to the closest passport office to get my passport.
19:38Wait, how about gun?
19:40Oh, my God, does it have to be on the front?
19:43I have a gun.
19:49Oh, my God.
19:51Unfortunately, the passport office is inside a library.
19:55Silence is a huge trigger for my tics.
19:58I also try to avoid museums, movie theaters, churches,
20:04anywhere quiet, basically.
20:07You can catch me not there.
20:09Oh, your nails are so pretty.
20:11Oh, thank you.
20:12Are you here for passports?
20:13Yes, I am here for passports.
20:15Perfect.
20:16Okay.
20:17Tick.
20:18Do you have your picture ID on you?
20:22Let's see.
20:23Oh, no!
20:25The woman that I'm talking to doesn't react to my tics at all,
20:30which is really relieving.
20:31If I'm around somebody that doesn't know what Tourette's is,
20:34I never know how they will react,
20:36whether laughing, staring, or not knowing what to say.
20:40I have a gun.
20:42Honey.
20:43Okay.
20:44Let me go make some copies, okay?
20:45Okay, sweet.
20:48You're bald.
20:49Sure.
20:50Bitch.
20:52Bitch.
20:53I don't go to the libraries.
20:56The loudest person in here.
21:00I'm using my C-BIT technique, which is deep breathing and masking.
21:04I like whispering.
21:05It's my favorite masking technique.
21:07I'm going to take your picture, okay?
21:09Do you mind if you give me a countdown before,
21:12just because I have Tourette syndrome,
21:13so it's hard for me to...
21:15I'll just make faces the entire time.
21:17Yeah, of course.
21:18Okay, sweet.
21:19I have a gun.
21:20I don't.
21:23I don't.
21:24You ready?
21:25Mm-hmm.
21:26Three, two, one.
21:28Perfect.
21:29Sweet.
21:30Yay!
21:31Now you can come back over here, okay?
21:32Okay.
21:33My tics were pretty typical today
21:35compared to other trips to the library.
21:37Perfect.
21:38Okay.
21:39So, um, I did break your pen.
21:43That's okay.
21:44Okay.
21:45Who really knows when I'll be able to use this passport,
21:48but this is just one more step on my path to adulting.
21:52All right.
21:53And with that, you are all done.
21:56Thank you so much.
21:57You're welcome.
21:58Have a lovely day.
21:59Thank you, you too.
22:00Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh.
22:03Oh, my!
22:04I have a gun!
22:08God, get me out of here.
22:10We'll never be back.
22:12Just kidding.
22:13I probably will with kids.
22:14That'll be fun.
22:16F*** them kids!
22:17Did you get Baylen's text?
22:34No.
22:35She got her passport tonight.
22:38Oh, my gosh.
22:39She didn't waste any time.
22:42Okay.
22:43Well, that's good.
22:44I'm sure it's not an easy process for her to go do that,
22:48especially if she had to go do it by herself.
22:51A couple days ago, Baylen's neurologist gave her the go-ahead
22:54to try the NuPulse device, but it's in England.
22:59The fact that Baylen went and got her passport
23:02kind of speaks volumes about her ambition
23:05to really want to figure something out.
23:08Well, I totally get why she wants to go.
23:10Heck, I want her to go.
23:12Why would we leave any stone unturned at this point, right?
23:15We've come this far.
23:16Well, financially, their wedding to them
23:18is their top priority right now.
23:21So you think that they're not going to go?
23:23Yeah.
23:24And I don't want that to happen.
23:26I'm in the way for...
23:31I mean, I'm willing to throw some of our money at this
23:33to make this happen right away.
23:36Yeah, I would love to be able to take that burden
23:38out of the equation for Bay and Colin.
23:43But I don't know.
23:44There's so many what-ifs and ambiguity to it, too.
23:48Even if it works, it's not like you can even leave there with it.
23:51So that's where I'm like, that's where the balancing comes in.
23:54It's like, you have to weigh it.
23:55Like, you have other kids and family to worry about.
23:57And I know that her health is still a priority in our lives.
24:01But you still have to objectively stand back and say,
24:06could the good here outweigh the bad?
24:09I have been the one encouraging Baylin to check out New Pulse.
24:14And I believe it's still worth exploring.
24:16But I have to remind myself that we are a one-income household
24:19and we do have five other children that we support.
24:24I mean, over the years, to help Baylin with her care,
24:28the sacrifices that we've made...
24:31Are endless.
24:32It's uncountable, honestly.
24:34Sometimes the other kids have kind of went without.
24:37But on the flip side, she has such strong tics and loud tics.
24:44Quite honestly, her Tourette has stripped her of the experiences
24:50that some of us take for granted, like church and the movies
24:54and quiet place experiences,
24:56because she feels like a social outcast.
25:00Even if Baylin can't bring the device home with her,
25:03the intrinsic reward of it
25:05is knowing that it would provide her hope if it worked.
25:09There's no means that I wouldn't go to to provide my kid with that.
25:15I just think, you want to go to bed every night for the next 10 years,
25:20wondering if something would have worked or not?
25:22Or do you want an answer?
25:24Of course I want an answer.
25:25And to be honest, I kind of want to be there for the test.
25:28And I know that they want to kind of forge their own path together.
25:33But this is completely uncharted territory.
25:36So I would love if she would feel comfortable for us to experience this together.
25:42But I don't want to feel, like, weird about it.
25:44Like, oh, we're inviting ourselves.
25:46Like, we're going with you.
25:48Like, sorry, this is a family thing.
25:50I want her to be...
25:51No, you invite her.
25:52You've who?
25:53Let's go on a trip there.
25:55Oh.
25:56We make it as a invite to her.
25:59Like, hey, we would like to do this for you.
26:02We can even take the boys with us.
26:04Mm-hmm.
26:05Give them an experience.
26:07Hmm.
26:11I love that idea.
26:13If we can figure out how to do it.
26:16If we're going to go big, we might as well go big.
26:18We have never been to the UK before.
26:20And they've been on Balen's journey with her.
26:23They've been alongside for this whole roller coaster.
26:26And it also provides us a way to support her,
26:28because it's so unpredictable.
26:30You have no idea how much stress or anxiety
26:32or how much she's going to hold back her tics,
26:35and then eventually it comes crumbling down,
26:37and she could be in the fetal position,
26:39and she spends the entire trip trying to recover,
26:42only to get back on a flight and come all the way back.
26:45I mean, it's not just the financial aspect of it.
26:48It's the travel.
26:49Yeah.
26:50I'd rather join them at this point anyways
26:52after hearing that Colin also has some flying anxiety.
26:57Like, the travel piece of it could be a huge hurdle,
27:01not saying that they couldn't do it together,
27:04but any time that people are willing to support you,
27:06you should welcome that.
27:10All right.
27:11I'm going to, uh, I think it's a go.
27:14Don't put it out there until we know 100% we can make it work,
27:16because I don't want to give her any false hope.
27:18Yeah.
27:19Like, you've got to figure out vacation time.
27:20I've got to figure out what works for the boys,
27:22for school, budget.
27:24We have a lot to figure out in order to really make this come to life.
27:33So I've been planning a major career move and going into real estate.
27:38More than 80% of people who get their real estate license stop,
27:41you know, in less than five years.
27:43There is so much potential to succeed in this field,
27:46but there's even more potential to fail.
27:48I have a gun.
28:06So I've been planning a major career move and going into real estate
28:11when I get out of the military.
28:13An old friend of mine, Josh, is actually in real estate in Myrtle Beach.
28:17And him and his colleague, Nick, are in town for some business.
28:21And they invited Balen and I to come play golf with them.
28:24Oh.
28:26I'm excited, but I'm also very nervous
28:28because this is only my second time on a real golf course.
28:31Oh.
28:32Compared to, like, mini golf or the range.
28:35Your head's got to be on a swivel.
28:36Actually, there was one time where me and Colin went to the golfing range
28:39and he was sitting behind me and the ball went backwards
28:42and almost hit him.
28:43There's really not a safe place on a golf course around Balen.
28:48Is there something I should know before Josh and Nick get here?
28:51Like, is one of them bald?
28:53I don't think so.
28:55Oh, there's Josh.
28:56Hi.
28:57Hi.
28:58Either one of them are bald.
29:00I told you.
29:01What's up, man?
29:02How are you, man?
29:03Good to see you.
29:04Good to see you.
29:05Hi, I'm Josh.
29:06Can I give you a hug?
29:07Nice to meet you.
29:08I've known Colin for over 10 years.
29:10I was his youth pastor when he was in middle school
29:13and he reached out knowing that we had our own real estate company.
29:17Let's go play a few holes.
29:19Let's do it.
29:20All right, let's do it.
29:25Rollercoaster.
29:26Be careful.
29:27Oh, are we seeing a break?
29:28Oh, oh.
29:29That don't sound good.
29:31We made it across.
29:32Eat a bag of debt.
29:33Oh, we got a beautiful day to golf.
29:34Nice wind.
29:35Yep.
29:36Just tapping it.
29:37Just tapping it.
29:38Miss it, bitch.
29:39Hmm.
29:40Hmm.
29:41Hmm.
29:42Hmm.
29:43I was a little nervous to meet Vaylin in person for the first time today because I have never
29:58met someone with Tourette's.
29:59Yeah.
30:00I have not met anyone with Tourette's before.
30:02So it caught me a little off guard when Josh first got up there.
30:04What she said on his backswing was pretty, pretty funny.
30:07And I had to hold it in.
30:09Not to laugh.
30:11Happy.
30:12Get over.
30:13Oh, what a shot.
30:14Nice shot.
30:15Whoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo.
30:18Miss it, bitch.
30:20Hmm.
30:21Oh, baby.
30:22I might be on the green.
30:23Good-looking ball, too.
30:24Oh, my gosh.
30:25I might be in trouble here.
30:29Hmm.
30:30Miss it, bitch.
30:31Hmm.
30:32That's in the water.
30:33Oh.
30:34Well, there's no pressure on Vaylin.
30:35She can't do worse than Colin.
30:36Living in my old lady.
30:37I do it.
30:38Yeah.
30:39You ain't gonna stop me killing it.
30:40Want me on the team just a little bit.
30:41Take a look around.
30:42We can see her.
30:43I'm feeling it.
30:44Yeah.
30:45I'm feeling it.
30:46Yeah.
30:47I'm feeling it.
30:48Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
31:01I'm just gonna move up.
31:02Oh, you're close to the fairway now.
31:06Here we go.
31:07OK.
31:08Oh, my God.
31:10We're gonna get there by next year.
31:12Oh, man.
31:13Oh man.
31:17Oh.
31:18Water ball.
31:20That was better contact though.
31:21Yep.
31:22Maybe I just need to get a little warmed up,
31:24a little wrist flicking,
31:26making sure the swing is good, it comes up.
31:29Ooh, and ooh, and ooh.
31:35Yeah, there you go.
31:36Sweet.
31:36There we go.
31:37There you go.
31:38There you go.
31:42Just topped it.
31:43Yep.
31:44It's okay.
31:44You wanna drive up to my bowl?
31:45It's five feet.
31:47Sure.
31:48I'm walking mine off.
31:49How do you use this thing now?
31:50What's this for?
31:52It's reverse, you don't use that.
31:53Okay, so all I do is-
31:54The right is gas, the left is brake.
32:00Wait, Colin, why is-
32:01Turn the wheel, turn the wheel, turn the wheel.
32:03This way?
32:04Yep, and then press the gas.
32:06There you go, now straighten it out, straighten it out.
32:10There you go.
32:10Sorry, I almost took you guys out.
32:13No, press, press, press brake, press brake, press brake.
32:15And then push right here.
32:16Yep.
32:17Push down all the way.
32:22No, I've never driven a golf cart in my entire life.
32:26It's the same as a car.
32:27I don't drive cars either, so thank you for that, but in one year, out the other.
32:36So how'd you get so good at golf?
32:37He plays every day.
32:39I wish.
32:40Definitely real estate, you get to play golf, you know, often.
32:43Josh was telling me you're thinking about getting the real estate.
32:46Yeah, I am.
32:46Awesome.
32:47I think what really intrigues me about it is like,
32:50the amount of success that you have in real estate is based off of the amount of effort that you put in.
32:55There's no ceiling what you can make, but especially in the beginning, it's a grind.
32:59The top three things that we see that attract people to real estate are freedom of their time,
33:04unlimited income potential, and they get to be their own boss.
33:07But there's a lot that goes into it.
33:09It is a five or six day a week job from day one.
33:14You have to be available, and that's why it's really important that both of you are on the same page as well.
33:20He's going to be away a lot.
33:21He might be on showings, weekends, he'll be running open houses, running outside, you know,
33:25for phone calls, different things like that.
33:26So it really helps if, you know, you're supportive with that, that he's going to be busy.
33:30And on his phone a lot, probably.
33:32Mm-hmm.
33:32It's really important that you...
33:34Sounds like bulls**t me.
33:35...it well.
33:36Holy s**t.
33:37It sounds way longer than a nine to five job.
33:41Colin's been talking about starting a family soon, but I don't want to be alone 24-7 all day, every day,
33:49with an infant.
33:51Yeah, but even hearing the nitty gritty parts that Josh and Nick are telling me,
33:56it just comes down to it being something of mine.
34:00And I'm putting all of this hard work and effort into my business, into my name,
34:08and that will give me a lot of satisfaction at the end of the day.
34:14It's a lot of work, and you might show 20 properties to a couple over seven days,
34:19and then they choose to buy in another area.
34:21It's also, it's tough to kind of get over, you know, you could go three, six months without a paycheck.
34:28And, you know, as a realtor, you're an independent contractor.
34:31And so, healthcare can be challenging.
34:33It's not true.
34:34Yeah.
34:34So, more than 80% of people who get their real estate license stop, you know, in less than five years.
34:41Yeah.
34:42If anything, that statistic gives me motivation.
34:45Like, I kind of like when odds are betting against me so that I can just prove people wrong.
34:51Knowing that only 20% of people in real estate make it really makes me worried for Colin,
34:56because there is so much potential to succeed in this field, but there's even more potential to fail.
35:03Also, there is no health insurance and no benefits.
35:06My parents told Colin that he needs a backup plan, and I'm starting to think he's going to need a backup plan too.
35:20Did either one of you guys have a backup plan?
35:23Not really. I just said, I'm going to do this and make it work, you know?
35:27I did not either.
35:29You have to be all in. You know, it's tough if you have a side job or something else.
35:34Like, it has to be what your priority is.
35:38Yeah.
35:39I know that Alan and Julie want me to have a backup plan going into real estate,
35:43but listening to Josh and Nick makes me think I don't need one.
35:47If I have a backup plan, it's already introduced—
35:50Backup dick!
35:53I can't let myself off the hook in case things get hard.
35:56So that's official then? No backup plan?
35:58Yeah, it's official.
35:59You want to be around the right people, the right company.
36:04I mean, we have a great company that really focuses on new agents,
36:07you know, kind of giving you a blueprint on how to be successful in this business, you know?
36:11Yeah. You should come down to Myrtle Beach to check out our office
36:14and allow us to be able to introduce you to some of the agents and be able to show you
36:18a lot of the training that takes place and what a day-to-day life would look like.
36:23Yeah, we'll have to figure out a time for me to come down there.
36:28With everything that's going on in our lives right now,
36:30I don't know when I'll get the opportunity to go down to Myrtle Beach,
36:34but it is an amazing offer, and I'm feeling really good about this opportunity.
36:38I'm glad you are.
36:40All I hear about is long nights, hard days, long hours.
36:45You'll never be home. Yay.
36:48I'll be out there golfing.
36:52So should we get back to the game?
36:53Yeah, let's do it.
36:54Sweet.
36:54Awesome.
37:03Oh, we got a couple missed calls from Alan.
37:08What do you think, Alan?
37:08I have a couple missed calls from my dad.
37:10What do you think he wants?
37:11I don't know. Do you care if we call him?
37:12That's fine.
37:13Okay, sweet.
37:13What's up, Dad?
37:19I've been talking with your mom, and I know you guys are saving for your wedding.
37:25But going to the UK to try the new Pulse device is a must.
37:30So we're going to pay for you to go.
37:32Oh my God, really?
37:34Yeah.
37:34Thank you so much. It's exciting.
37:37Yeah, thank you guys.
37:38Hello, hello.
37:40I'm so excited.
37:42I'm so excited that my parents were able to make this work for me and Colin,
37:46and I couldn't be any more grateful.
37:49There's one more thing.
37:51We're going to go with you and bring Sven, Vic, and Beckner.
37:55That's kind of cool that it's going to be like a little family vacay
37:58mixed with a little, like, doctor's appointment.
38:00Well, really, the main focus is for you and to make you comfortable traveling.
38:05You don't feel alone, and we don't want to put Colin in a spot either.
38:09Well, thank you guys for making a decision for everyone to go.
38:13It's worth it. It's just a small investment in your health.
38:16I love you, Dad. Thank you so much for letting us know the big news.
38:19Bye.
38:20All right. Bye.
38:21We're going to London.
38:23Yeah, we are.
38:24And I.
38:24Are you excited for the whole family to go?
38:27Yeah.
38:29I've never flown out of the country.
38:31Yeah.
38:31So at least they're there to help us, guide us through.
38:34Yeah.
38:36It would have been a fun trip for Baylen and I by ourselves, but it also would have been
38:42a little bit scary at the same time because I haven't been out of the country in like 10 years.
38:48She hasn't been out of the country, and neither one of us have ever been to that part of the world.
38:54So do you think they trust us to go alone?
38:58I don't know.
38:58That's a question I was going to ask you.
39:00Like, does your parents not?
39:02Can you stop doing golf while we're trying to talk serious right now?
39:05It's making me want to sway.
39:06Okay.
39:07Yeah, that's amazing that they're offering to fund it and, you know, help us get there.
39:11But does your dad or parents not trust me to be able to handle the health, you know, appointments, doctor's appointments?
39:21We're literally about to be married.
39:25I see where you're coming from, but I personally don't think it has anything against you or me.
39:32I just think they've always been invested and always have been there for my health.
39:37And this is huge.
39:38Like, this is a really, really big deal to go there and try on a device and see if it works.
39:43Because this could be life-changing.
39:44Like, maybe my parents just want to be there to suck to witness that right there in front of their eyes.
39:51I can just see it being a trip for all of us to remember.
39:56I'm super grateful that Alan and Julie have offered to pay for this trip to London.
40:02But I can't help but to feel like Julie and Alan don't fully trust me.
40:06It's going to be a little upsetting.
40:09Yeah.
40:11We've been dating for over two years, and I've helped Bailyn through some really tough times.
40:16But even then, it still feels like no matter what I do, it's just not enough for them.
40:21Colin, that should be enough.
40:30I'm going there for a week, not a month.
40:33We are going to London, England, and I am so excited.
40:37What are you looking forward to the most?
40:39Scones, tea crumpets.
40:41I was talking about adventures.
40:43I wasn't talking about food.
40:44What age can you get a tattoo in London?
40:47This is going to be epic.
40:49I have always had anxiety about flying.
40:53I guess I'm slightly concerned that nervous energy pours over onto her.
40:57Holy crap, that's a lot of people in there.
41:00You're not helping.
41:01Sorry.
41:03Oh my god, something's going on.
41:08The airport's just a tick disaster.
41:10I just really need to get through this as quickly as possible.
41:13Is there anyone behind us because my legs are locked?
41:15Yeah.
41:16We got a long way to go, Bailyn.
