00:00The cabinet has just passed a draft amendment that would require Taiwan's elected officials to publicly disclose any contact with Chinese government officials. That includes legislators.
00:30They also proposed other amendments to the cross-strait law that would expand monitoring and restrictions on officials traveling to China in other ways, too.
00:43They would prohibit anyone who has held certain key government positions from attending activities organized by the Chinese Communist Party that, quote, undermine national dignity.
00:54And they would add legislators to the list of people who have to receive prior approval before traveling to China.
01:02The proposals come after several legislators traveled to China recently for a Taunis Business Association meeting.
01:08They still have to be approved by the legislature to become law.
