00:16having played their opening game. Four matches were on the schedule across groups E and F.

00:22In a dramatic group E opener, a goalless first half gave way to late twists and turns. Equatorial

00:33Guinea briefly led before Burkina Faso struck twice in stoppage time through Giorgi Minongo

00:41and Edmund Tapsoba to seal a remarkable 2-1 comeback.

00:48With the stands packed and more than 16,000 spectators in attendance, the vast majority

00:54of passionate Algerian supporters, Riyad Meher scored twice as the FNEX opened their campaign

01:02with a convincing 3-0 victory over Sudan.

01:28Burkina Faso's dramatic late win combined with Algeria's comfortable victory has now set up an

01:36intriguing clash between the two sides on Sunday. Attention turn to Group F with two more matches

01:43across Morocco in Marrakesh, the Red City. Holders Coup d'Ivoire faced Mozambique.

01:50Coup d'Ivoire struggled to break down a resilient Mozambican defense,

01:55but their patience paid off shortly after the restart when Ahmed Diallo scored the only goal

02:02to secure a narrow 1-0 victory. Cameroon struck early through Etta Young and then had to defend

02:10strongly as Gabon pushed for an equalizer. Despite several chances, the Panthers were unable to break

02:19through and Cameroon held on for a narrow 1-0 win.

02:24And beyond the matches, the festivities continued. Across stadiums and fan zones, Moroccan music and

02:31festive rhythms filled the air with supporters dancing well into the celebrations, turning AFCON 2025

02:38into a true football festival. From Casablanca to Rabat, Marrakesh to Agadir, match day 1 is complete.
