The US and Ukraine have revealed an updated 20-point peace plan. The plan includes strong security guarantees for Ukraine. It offers Article 5–like protections against future aggression. Ukraine would be supported in gaining EU membership. The country would be allowed to keep an 800,000-strong army. Eastern areas seized by Russia could become free economic zones. President Zelenskyy said a demilitarised or economic zone could break the stalemate. Any such arrangement would require approval through a referendum. Russia wants full control of Donbas, including areas it has not captured. Ukraine has said this demand is unacceptable. The plan was released after recent US-Ukraine talks in Miami. Its release came as another bomb attack hit Moscow. Two Russian police officers were killed in the bombing. Ukraine has not confirmed responsibility for the attacks. Analysts say the attacks may be aimed at influencing peace talks. Zelenskyy said most positions have moved closer, but key issues remain. He called for a direct meeting with Donald Trump. The future of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant remains unresolved. Russia has intensified attacks with hundreds of drones and missiles. Zelenskyy urged unity in a Christmas message to the Ukrainian people. .
