00:00Happy birthday to you, everybody, happy birthday to you, happy birthday to me.
00:30Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you.
00:38I always looked at him as just being like this rich Harlem cat who just want to dance and make money.
00:44All the ladies look so right, all the papers, all the real players in the motherfucking house, throw your hands in the air.
00:51No violence in them, but every time I turn around, there's violence.
00:57There's violence with his name on it.
01:05At the time, there's this tension that is going on between Pac and Puff.
01:10Puff wanted to work with Pac on a lot of levels business-wise, and Pac wasn't having it.
01:18He was more interested in Biggie and his crew.
01:22Puff was very threatened by Pac.
01:26He was very threatened, especially if you're an executive who wants a guy to make you money, and the guy is saying, no, fuck you.
01:33Around that time, Tupac was going to do a song with Lil Sean at Quiet Studio.
01:43Out of the blue, they wanted me to do the song, so I said, all right.
01:47Stopped off to get some weed, smoked the weed.
01:50Then I was getting a page, where you at, where you at, where you at, why you ain't coming?
01:54I was like, I'm coming, I'm on my way, hold on.
01:56I wasn't thinking, why they want me here so bad?
01:59We're walking up to the building.
02:01Somebody screamed from the upper top of the studio, and it's Lil' Caesar.
02:05He's like, Biggie's side man, right?
02:07We was in the recording with Big and Puff, and I'm yelling, like, yo, Pac.
02:10And he looked up, yo, what's up, little nigga?
02:13I go back in the room, I tell Big, I'm like, yo, Big, Pac downstairs.
02:16He was like, oh, all right, go get him.
02:18Getting to the elevator, and when I was about to walk out, two dudes came from both sides.
02:23Get the fuck back in the elevator.
02:24Ooh.
02:27Recording artist Tupac Shakur was shot five times last night
02:30in a robbery attempt.
02:31After surgery, his condition was upgraded to satisfactory, and he checked out of the hospital
02:36against his doctor's advice.
02:37I think they're trying to rub me out, really.
02:40Robbers don't leave behind $80,000 Rolexes.
02:43You know what I mean?
02:44They don't do that, in case nobody knows.
02:47Let's look at the facts.
02:49Puff is there.
02:52Pac has been shot in New York under your watch.
02:56Question would be, who knew that he was pulling up?
02:59Biggie, knowing myself, had nothing to do whatsoever of Tupac being robbed.
03:08We, we, that's just a fact.
03:10After everything that has unfolded, I have to think twice about how that situation went down.
03:16Do you think Puffy was alive, shooter?
03:18I believe so.
03:19I do believe so.
03:20I have proof.
03:21But you can see now why someone like a Puff would want someone like a Pop out the picture.
03:27You know, Pop was vilified while he was alive, and Puff was exalted.
03:36That's the bigger picture.
03:37That's the bigger picture.
03:38And that's the story that hasn't been told.
03:43But he's in the last 60 seconds.
03:50No matter how he wants to go, he's in the last 30 seconds.
03:56He's not trying to get him.
03:58He was in the last 30 seconds.
04:00And he's in the last 30 seconds.
04:01He's in the last 30 seconds.
04:04There was a whole lot of crazy shit going on.
04:09You know what I'm saying?
04:12Like, that shit was crazy to me that that shit wasn't there,
04:15which is a sign to me like, nigga,
04:17time to go to the future, time to go to the future.
04:20I was a little builder.
04:21Yeah, for the building, I got ready for you, son.
04:24You know what I'm saying?
04:25It was a sign to me like that, but I'm saying,
04:27that shit was there like two months ago, right?
04:29I'm not tripping, tripping.
04:30Yeah, it was big, yeah.
04:34Puff is in this position where he has all this turmoil,
04:45but he's not at the point where he's saying where I went wrong.
04:49He's saying to himself, how do I get out of this?
04:53Maybe I can convince some witnesses that I'm not the guy who I am.
04:59Eventually, he's going to get to the point where he's going to ask himself,
05:03how did I get myself into this situation?
05:06How did I get myself into this situation?
05:07How did I get myself into this situation?
05:08How did I get myself into this situation?
05:09How did I get myself into this situation?
05:10In 95, he had two of the hottest acts.
05:11Craig, map game was flavorin' your ear.
05:12Here goes a brand new flavor.
05:13Yeah, a brand new flavor.
05:14Time for new flavor, yeah.
05:27And Biggie.
05:28and Biggie.
05:34Bad boy was rising up.
05:36My little lab right here, you know,
05:38where I cut my deals and all that.
05:40Got my little headset just living out a dream.
05:42You know what I'm saying?
05:43One time, Sean was in his office,
05:45and I'm in a little cubby hole around the corner.
05:47He buzzes me.
05:50So I get up and I go in with my papers and go.
05:53A girl is giving him a blowjob at the desk.
05:57He wanted me to see that.
05:58He wanted me to see her face,
06:00and then he was able to get her to do that
06:02right then and there in the office.
06:04She leaves.
06:05I'm, what did you want me for?
06:07Ah, I didn't want you for anything.
06:10That was the beginning for me to see
06:13this is what's going on here.
06:15Can everybody here make some noise for B.I.G.
06:18for bringing it back to the East?
06:20So the C's for all of this was early on.
06:23I want to thank y'all.
06:24And that came from people in the industry
06:30co-signing his activity because it brought money in.
06:36I don't know if y'all niggas know this.
06:38The Juicy with platinum.
06:40Big Puppa with platinum.

07:21over saying hey ain't you in that video ain't that you oh yo here go a demo
07:29had the big baseball bat cell phones and the phone might ring such and such is on the phone
07:33calling from jail yo i'm coming home you might have a group standing in front of the office
07:39already with the microphone ready to sing you love me i love just to get their shot at puffy
07:45everybody wants to see him he is now the new gateway into music
07:53you're gonna take all of this power and money you're getting now
07:57and play by the rules no i'm the rule now i am the exception to the rule
08:02one day it seemed like out of the blue my door opens up sean walks in
08:19he had a baseball bat had a big attach a case suitcase with the snaps on it the stocks were there
08:27we're in a hustle we're in a grind do your job whatever you're he wanted me to sign my 25
08:32over and diddy's over me like this he wants to stop that he wants it now i'm not gonna stay
08:41fucking lying down i'm not i can't do it man he said there's a business deal i need to take care of
08:46i need to do this and i need to get this all on one side but i'll give it back to you
08:50i'm gonna give it back to you
08:51and he threatened until i did
09:01people always say to me why would you do that but why did you do that like that was you know
09:15i didn't want to give it back i wanted to stay in good graces i still wanted to be at the company
09:20it wasn't like he was firing me but i was definitely confused by it
09:27it might sound strange but if you've ever built something and you wanted to last
09:33i want to know who's been naughty at night with the device i thought he was kind of cool at first and then
09:55we started seeing some things craig started becoming disenchanted and i want to congratulate
10:04craig mack on his grammy nomination yes baby yeah that's cool and i'm sure yo you got nominated for a
10:11grammy but we had no money if you look at bad boy bad boy didn't sell enough records for to explain his
10:20wealth but enough artists were on the label that sold enough records to explain his wealth
10:29sean's trick was i'm going to make you a star your sign follow the money that's what you're going to
10:34try to do as hard as you can you're going to try your best and we know you're going to try your best
10:40so you signed your deal we gave you your advance at uptown that's the only money the artists have ever
10:44seen that first advance andre had to wait he never saw anything else did he pick that up he made it
10:51even tighter it's a shell game you hide everything that is an earning you confuse the earnings and now
11:03i own everything you'll go out into the world and the shell game you'll be looking for your money
11:08for the next 20 years sean did that to every artist you're in the studio now you have to recoup
11:17for being in the studio puff owns the studio and i have four sessions which you owe me four hundred
11:23thousand dollars if puff records a song with his artist he pays himself
11:28if he's in your video he pays himself he insert himself into their videos a video come on you
11:38like i hate that guy as an artist you can go number one song is being played all over the nation but you
11:45don't have the money to go to it because you're not making the proper money off of your royalties
11:51craig and i hit a point where we were fucked up no money nothing hell i was getting money from my father
12:02to take care of the house we were all at like somebody's album release party and craig's gonna
12:10tell puff to give him a few dollars and he'll hit him back once he went and did this show he literally
12:15went in his pocket and pulled out a knot of money this big and gave him one hundred dollar bill
12:27you really just don't give a fuck
12:32i think sean had an envy for his own artists he was jealous of their talent and wondering like
12:39this talent is wasted on people who don't even really know what to do
12:42and if i had that talent in my know-how wow that's interesting because a lot of people
12:48puppy's age want to grab this mic and rap but probably you wanted to do other things and you're
12:54doing a lot of them can you talk about his skills as a rapper sucks he has zero talent musically nothing
13:00he don't know how to discuss he don't know nothing about r&b he don't know none of that stuff he used
13:03to ask me to always be there on the sessions because i would tell the truth i'd be like that's not it
13:10people would be there like yeah that was tight that was tight i'd be like looking like yo for real
13:14you got a lot of people who just tell you anything that sucked it doesn't sound good and it makes no
13:20sense
13:22but he always wanted to be an artist we're about to just drop our r&b stuff the pop daddy album
13:28yeah what about the pop daddy solo project yeah we don't like to talk about that sean used other
13:36methods and ways to get the way he had to go big on strategy big on swag all of those things became
13:45important when the ball down to the music even if i didn't touch it i showed you what to do so that's
13:52what he was that whole bad boy was built on him you cannot take that from him
14:07but i think that puppy wanted the light like he always wanted
14:11from dancing the whole now you see anybody that's bolsters and loud like that they want to be in
14:15the spotlight it wasn't like no secret that's what he wanted six foot three three hundred thirty five
14:24pound suge knight has managed to become the head of a hundred million dollar record company it's the
14:29record label at ground zero of the whole gangster rap phenomenon death row records
14:35suge was about that money but he didn't want to be in that limelight like puff he had his own
14:42lane you're a big guy and there are people who are afraid of you there's probably people who are
14:47afraid of you back in 1988 the person who did the greatest job or protecting me was the head of my
14:53security at the time shook knight right now i'm on the heartbreak tour with bobby brown and new edition
14:59we're about to get on the tour bus and these dudes came over and he was like talking crazy
15:04y'all niggas this y'all niggas that this this this
15:07and i seen sure kind of just turn this way and gave him one of these
15:15bow like that and knocked dude down the hill and it looked like a cartoon dude was rolling down the
15:21hill boom boom it's tim's cable he's a street dude he's a real street dude but
15:28shook knew talent and he knew business they took me on tour and i learned how every person who's
15:35writing songs is getting beat out their money like they published he was able to dovetail that into
15:41he's not death row records one two three into the phone snoop doggie dog and dr drake is at the
15:48door ready to death row can be bigger than motel or sony or one of brothers death row's gonna be
15:54the biggest record company there is chronic albums the foundation before bad boy death rope was the
16:01most successful label in the business from the depths of the sea back to the block snoop doggie
16:06sean had admired death row and wanted us to emulate them and that was my job how do i make bad boy equal
16:17the success of death row and of course my eyes was like this death row they had a head start they had
16:24artists they picked superstars up from other indie labels we're starting off me and him were friends
16:31wow yeah yeah he would pick me up from the airport you know i was just networking with the brother and uh
16:36show me a lot of love you know i really had thought we were cool me and puffy we used to run around
16:42each other he was getting in the business i was in the business only a few years later bad boy death row
16:54the two hottest labels but i would look over at death row and say they're taking care of their
17:01artists better than we are they're putting your head and my thing was opposite it's about me and my
17:09people fuck you craig wasn't happy there death row was courting him because she was opening up a death
17:19row east and and it was found out yes it's the source hip-hop music award the source awards was happening in new
17:36york city and behind the scenes people were running back and forth to the next dressing room to the next
17:48dressing room which were in trailers parked outside of madison square garden how important is it to have
17:55the source award let me just wait and find it you got that come on man who's banging on the door like
18:02well that was dog what is the deal man keep the door closed and it escalated with words from the
18:08podium at the awards show any artist out there want to be an artist and want to stay a star and don't
18:14want everyone have to worry about the executive producer trying to be all in the videos all on the record
18:20dancing come to death row
18:32i'm the executive producer that a comment was made about a little bit earlier
18:36but con check this out contrary to what other people may feel i would like to say that i'm very
18:42proud of dr dre of death row and shook knight for their accomplishments you know what i'm saying
18:48i'm a positive black man and i make music to bring us together not to separate us and all this east and
18:54west that need to stop so give it up for everybody from the east and the west that won tonight
18:59one love sean wants to present strength he wants to show coolness
19:07and then there's a side of him that's all out dark he processes things differently
19:13he remembers every slight once again y'all please give it up for all the nominees
19:32before i signed with bad boy i was working at the door of the club
19:42in platinum house every friday we had a bad boy party so puff was there
19:50suge knight came that night with his friend jake and i was working the door should was looking for puff
19:56sean would try to go after people's side chicks like a girl in atlanta that suge was dealing with
20:09sean wanted me to take fifty thousand dollars out of the overhead account so he could buy her a diamond
20:17necklace wooing her because she was shook side piece in atlanta when he came there
20:26real police officer in a real police uniform came and got on shake
20:31the man you took the homie we're gonna tear this month up he said well i gotta throw him out for what
20:38he said he would pump you sure and jake is being escorted out the club by the off-duty
20:47officer we always had their moonlighting jake comes out should come out puff come out everybody's outside
20:56a man appeared with one hand behind his back and he was holding a pistol
21:04he touched jake with the pistol and he looked at suge like this and was shooting
21:10suge friend like this he shot him five times
21:18suge grabbed that hold to puffy and the chokehold and put him in the front of him like this so he
21:25was moving puff around like this in case to shoot him you're gonna shoot puffy you're not gonna shoot me
21:34puff was like it's gonna be all right man it's gonna be all right
21:39suge said what you mean it's gonna be all right he said tell your mama it's gonna be all right
21:45tell your kids it's gonna be all right and then the shooter ran
21:50oh man
21:54ambulance came and took jake to the hospital a couple days later he died
22:00that's what started the east coast west coast war
22:05tupac shakur out of the hospital after surgery from bullet wounds
22:14is convicted on sex charges after pocket shot in quad studio he had the rape case
22:21a new york jury convicted the rapper of first degree sexual abuse but acquitted him of more
22:27serious charges since your period of incarceration at clinton correctional facility have you taken the
22:36time to reflect on your gangster third image pocket big were friends at one time but then
22:45once pockets of jail bad boy and all of his associations were nemesis I'm in jail
22:54strangers is telling me yo you don't know biggie old boy shot you because they bragging they telling
23:01they in jail yo we just got pop once the conflict happens pop needed someone strong that was going
23:12to stand with him it had just so happened that suge had his own issue with puffy
23:19so suge went to jail and visited him the whole shit was like some mob shit into tupac a young
23:31captain i'm gonna join the family dog get me out
23:36suge knight first signed tupac to a recording contract when tupac was in this new york state
23:44prison unable to come up with the million dollars needed for bail while his lawyers appealed a 1995
23:50conviction for sexual assault i want everybody to give a big welcome from tupac
23:59out on bail rapper tupac shakur's rush to market double album all eyes on me debuts at number one
24:07on this week's billboard chart with the addition of tupac there's no way y'all can stop us now
24:11we're coming to the east coast to prove there is no fear overthrow the government y'all got right
24:20now which is bad boy and all that bullshit and we will bring a new government here that will feed
24:25every person in new york all right man thanks a lot sean tried everything to get biggie upset
24:33he had to go at him with business this guy came at us i was more in a mind frame
24:39keep your mouth shut big you know what i'm saying just don't feed into it if you feed into it
24:48it's gonna do nothing but escalate you know what i'm saying biggie never wanted to be an enemy
24:53to park as things was coming from the west coast biggie did not want to give any shots back when
25:01pop was producing all eyes on me he called us and said i just fucked fake evidence big's wife
25:08we was like what first off fuck your bitch in the click you claim west side when we ride come equip
25:16we're game you claim to be a player but i fucked your wife we bought some but that's not true at all
25:21big is so my husband legally i am having his baby no i'm not sean kept putting pressure on biggie
25:27you gotta answer back tupac had me pissed off you know what i'm saying and the rumors
25:34that's spreading it's on some tip like we set them up you know what i'm saying and that's crazy
25:39the east coast west coast thing was invented period because no matter what we all went to the east
25:46they came here went to the west whatever they wasn't arguing with each other when we was able to roam
25:51fuck biggie fuck bad boy as a staff record label and as a motherfucking crew
25:56it was this bad boy in death row
25:57and that right there put people in danger because it made people be like f you f you and people
26:05started doing stuff for no reason because there's no it's just people that want to ride for each other
26:10and then look what happened so
26:12doing the street thing my affiliation was with the mansfield hustlers
26:23today uh we go by mansfield gangster crips now police say that drugs and violence are being
26:33spread by two long-standing rivals in the los angeles youth gang scene groups who call themselves
26:39crips and wear blue colors and bloods who wear red did you guys provide protection sean combs was a
26:48friend christopher wallace was a friend and you know when we hanging out with our friends
26:59we're gonna protect our friends so they knew
27:04and they were our associates you got beef with them you got beef with me period
27:11a number of reports have come out bad boy entertainment had actually hired crips for
27:14security work out on the west coast is that true um we've never hired crips or any other gang
27:22faction to do security for us would be extremely unintelligent to hire um a gang some gangs to do
27:30security for you a lot of the new york guys come out to la zip is a person that i know
27:37that was puppy's man that was his guy eric von zip is a drug lord from harlem but sean told me he was
27:48his uncle he might have known janice on the fringe he might have known sean's father from those days
27:55zip had a relationship with the south side crips and then he also had a relationship with us sean said
28:04zip can give us protection going back and forth to la because he was in with the crips and we had a
28:11beef with suge knight and the bloods knight dresses in all red the colors of the drug dealing blood street
28:18gang one of the death row people got jumped by someone at a mall and that someone was from south side
28:29crips one of the crips tried to take a death row chain i think that was an order from bad boy that
28:36was an order from puff because it was specific we want a death row chain introducing the one and only iron
28:46mike tyson
28:48everybody got what they wanted that night people got to see tyson knock a motherfucker out and tyson with
29:01a left hook and sell it is down it's over in the first round
29:07that's probably the reason the guy was all up in a lot of
29:10shit from fight night when you seen a tyson fight you want to fight
29:24at the fight the guy who was ripped off for the death row chain is with suge and pop he just whispers to
29:33pop that's him hey hey hey it was orlando anderson from south side crips who was connected with puff
29:47Tupac like, phew, took your niggas down.
29:59That was the foundational moment
30:02when all this was getting out of control.
30:05I'm out of one right now.
30:08I got a couple guys shot and a medical ASAP.
30:11Rapper Tupac Shakur was shot in the chest.
30:17This morning shot multiple times in the chest
30:19in a drive-by shooting.
30:20Death Row record label owner Marion Shug Knight
30:23was also in the car, but his injuries were minor.
30:26Craig called me up. It was late.
30:30He was out there at the fight
30:32because he was supposed to have performed
30:34at some club that Shug owned.
30:39And I guess Tupac was supposed to come through.
30:41He was like, how come Tupac just got shot?
30:46Craig was, like, scared.
30:48Who was he scared of?
30:50Probably Puff.
30:52He ended up not going to Death Row after that.
30:59Hi, I'm Tabitha Soren with MTV News.
31:01Controversial rapper and actor Tupac Shakur
31:03has died in a Las Vegas hospital
31:05of complications from several...
31:07I was in jail.
31:08I was in jail when he got shot.
31:10There was a lot of niggas in jail
31:13that were celebrating Pac's death.
31:17I'm glad that, uh, I didn't kill anybody
31:20or anybody killed me.
31:22But I damn sure came close.
31:26Police in Las Vegas say they have no motive
31:29for this latest shooting,
31:30but the rapper's troubled past
31:32will certainly be part of the investigation.
31:36Do you know who was responsible
31:38for the killing of Tupac Shakur?
31:40No, I don't.
31:43I think that Sean now,
31:45in my mature mind,
31:47had a lot to do
31:48with the death of Tupac.
31:58In 2006, I was recruited
32:00to work a task force
32:02that was going to look
32:04at a cold case investigation.
32:06At the time, Tupac's murder
32:08was an unsolved case.
32:11Gang crimes oftentimes are difficult to solve
32:14because you don't get cooperating witnesses.
32:16They want to stick to a code
32:18that typically entails
32:20not cooperating with law enforcement
32:22and then taking matters
32:23into your own hands.
32:25It ain't my job
32:26to snitch on nobody
32:28because I would never snitch on nobody.
32:30We had built a narcotics case
32:32against Keefy D.
32:34Keefy D was kind of the shock caller
32:36for the Southside Crips.
32:38He was the most prominent drug dealer.
32:40He was very influential in his gang.
32:43His nephew, Orlando Anderson,
32:45was a very well-known violent gang member.
32:50Tupac Shakur had assaulted Orlando Anderson
32:52just after the Mike Tyson fight.
32:56So Keefy D was potentially looking
32:58at a life sentence
32:59for federal drug trafficking.
33:02We wanted to question him
33:03about his potential role
33:05in the murder of Tupac Shakur.
33:07We let him know
33:08that he could potentially mitigate
33:10some of the damages
33:11if he wanted to come in and talk to us.
33:14And the U.S. attorney agreed
33:16that they'd allow Keefy D.
33:18to do a proffer session.
33:20Keefy, today what we're going to do,
33:21we're just going to go over
33:22with a fine-tooth comb
33:24through the Las Vegas incident.
33:25We do have to emphasize to you
33:28it's determined
33:29that some of these details are incorrect
33:31and everything's off the table.
33:33A proffer session
33:34is when a person facing criminal charges
33:37can answer questions
33:39wherein self-incriminating information
33:41would not be used against him
33:43in a criminal prosecution.
33:45Doesn't mean they have any kind of immunity.
33:47Hey, I want to say this, though, too.
33:53I feel, like I said that day,
33:55don't bullshit me
33:55and I won't bullshit y'all.
33:57You know what I'm saying?
33:58In the year prior
33:59to the murder of Tupac Shakur,
34:02he has had several conversations
34:04with Sean Combs.
34:06I met him, he gave a party at
34:08the club down in Salomonica.
34:11That's where I met him.
34:12The first day I met Pup.
34:15Sean Combs' affiliation
34:17with the Southside Crips
34:18came by way of a New York
34:21street figure known as Zip.
34:24Zip set up the introduction
34:26between Combs and Keefee Dee,
34:28and then they developed
34:30their own relationship.
34:32And Zip and Duce,
34:33he said, this is my boy.
34:34What are you going to do with him, man?
34:35This is my friend,
34:36this is my nephew.
34:36That's my boy.
34:37My boy, this is Pup.
34:40And after that,
34:40they used my car on the video.
34:42Which car was I in?
34:44The 64 Chevy I have.
34:47Every time I look,
34:48catch you,
34:49that's all.
34:50What color was it?
34:51Blown.
34:52I was out there with Pup
34:53was driving the car,
34:55ushered for her song,
34:56whatever,
34:56he was in a Laker uniform.
34:57And he had the little kid
34:58dancing on my car.
34:59When he got back,
35:01it was fucked up.
35:02And he had to,
35:03he paid to get it repainted.
35:10Pup, he caused their phone,
35:11and he wanted to speak to me.
35:13They gave it up,
35:14he took to her.
35:15And then I,
35:16he gave us some tickets,
35:17and I brought the crew.
35:18I want to hear a new flavor,
35:20ain't you here?
35:21I want to hear a new flavor.
35:23Check it out.
35:24Check it, yeah.
35:25To all the ladies
35:26and the close ones.
35:27Keefy D says that Sean Combs
35:29kind of makes
35:30this general announcement
35:33while they were all inside
35:35of a hotel room
35:36after a musical event.
35:39So it's Harrell,
35:40Puffy,
35:41Zip,
35:41you.
35:42About 40-something
35:43soft-siders.
35:44Yeah,
35:45that was stupid as hell too,
35:47you know?
35:49Shit,
35:49he said he would kill us
35:50anything for those dudes,
35:51you know?
35:52Tupac and Chuggy,
35:53you mean?
35:54Yeah.
35:54He said it in front of all
35:56those people,
35:56I couldn't believe it.
35:58You know what I'm saying?
36:00All home full of cribs.
36:02So this is after Jake got killed.
36:04So he was,
36:04he was on a plane,
36:05he was worried about
36:06something happening.
36:06Yeah.
36:07So he got miles off
36:08about a bunch of different stuff,
36:09so he was scared.
36:10He was scared to death.
36:11Yeah.
36:11Okay.
36:11Okay.
36:13Then there's a more specific
36:14incident that takes place
36:16at a deli on Sunset Strip
36:17in Los Angeles,
36:18a place called
36:19Greenblatt's Deli.
36:20What made it a specific,
36:22like,
36:22hey,
36:22I'm serious,
36:23I want you guys
36:24to kill this,
36:24these guys?
36:26Well,
36:26he told me
36:27the Greenblatt's.
36:29When we got there,
36:30we were laughing at him.
36:32Because he was just
36:32broad and sucked dick,
36:34to suck every dick in there.
36:35He was hugged up,
36:36kissing,
36:36whatever,
36:37we was laughing like a woman.
36:38Like,
36:38man,
36:39what you laughing at,
36:39dog?
36:40Man,
36:41don't just come out
36:42here and get in any broad,
36:43dog.
36:44I took him down
36:45and he was like,
36:46man,
36:46I'm going to get rid
36:47of those dudes,
36:48man.
36:49It's going to be a problem.
36:53It was after he made
36:54the record.
36:55Hit him up,
36:55came out.
36:56Yeah,
36:56yeah,
36:56that pissed them off.
37:01Yeah,
37:01we were on a million.
37:05He tells you,
37:06seriously,
37:06man,
37:06I need to get rid
37:07of these guys.
37:07I mean,
37:08he's looking at you
37:08in the eyes
37:09and he's, like,
37:10scared.
37:10Yeah.
37:11You tell him,
37:12we'll do it for a million
37:13and he's like,
37:14okay,
37:16I'll do it for a million?
37:17Yeah.
37:17He greased,
37:17he shaved on it
37:18or something like that?
37:19Yeah.
37:20What happened?
37:21You know,
37:21he, uh,
37:23I meant our shit out.
37:24We'll wipe the ass out quick.
37:26You know,
37:26it's nothing.
37:29Here we go,
37:30round one,
37:31scheduled for 12.
37:32And Tyson comes right out,
37:34right into it.
37:34He says that when
37:35Las Vegas happens
37:36and they're all out there
37:38and his nephew
37:39gets assaulted by Tupac,
37:40they're like,
37:40this is the perfect occasion.
37:42We was eating
37:44and the man,
37:45they came and said,
37:46he's a P-Dub Lane.
37:49And we was in the hotel,
37:50yeah,
37:51at the MGM
37:52and the restaurant.
37:53There was a few New Yorkers,
37:54though,
37:54with Zip.
37:57Like,
37:57man,
37:57y'all need some help?
37:59We got this.
38:00It's your perfect opportunity,
38:02baby.
38:03That was Zip coming?
38:04Yeah.
38:04Because of what happened with...
38:05Yeah.
38:06Yeah.
38:06The vehicle that Zip was driving
38:23that night
38:24reportedly had
38:25what we call a trap in it,
38:27which is a concealed compartment
38:29where you can place a gun.
38:32It's a difficult thing to find.
38:34Zip had driven
38:36that car
38:37to Las Vegas.
38:39A few days before
38:41Tupac was murdered,
38:42Sean requested
38:43that we rent cars
38:46and have multiple drivers
38:49drive clear across the country
38:52to this fight.
38:55But I arranged
38:56through my budget
38:58to make that trip happen
39:00for those drivers.
39:01and to this day
39:03it stands out
39:03in my mind.
39:05Why did we rent
39:06multiple cars?
39:08Why did we hire people
39:09from Harlem
39:10and other locations
39:11to drive?
39:14Can you tell us if,
39:17hey, we're going to go
39:18handle this shit
39:18or whatever?
39:19Yeah, they asked,
39:20like, if y'all want us to come?
39:22I'm like,
39:22we know where them
39:23motherfuckers at.
39:24They was telling us
39:24they're going to be
39:25at the 662 Club.
39:27Two cars going 662?
39:28Yeah.
39:29The van and the Cadillac.
39:31They didn't show up.
39:32We waited about 15,
39:3420 minutes.
39:34They didn't show up.
39:36So they was like,
39:37let's go get some liquor.
39:39And we came up
39:40Harlot
39:41at the Las Vegas Willoward.
39:44Oh, shit.
39:45I hear they coming
39:46at BMW.
39:47I can't get caught.
39:48On their way to the club,
39:50Suge is blaring
39:51his music too loud.
39:53He gets pulled over
39:54by some police officers.
39:56They essentially,
39:57you know, say,
39:58just turn down your music.
39:59No big deal.
40:00And it's at this point
40:01in time that Suge
40:03and Tupac
40:04see these girls.
40:06Like, they're Suge, Suge.
40:08Like, the police were
40:08going through his car
40:09or something or another.
40:10And then the traffic
40:12was stopped
40:13and then they got
40:13in the car.
40:14Did you see
40:15who was with you?
40:17I thought it was Tupac.
40:18And then he was like,
40:19come on, come go with me.
40:21Come go with us.
40:22We're going to 662.
40:24And Bronson,
40:24Tupac, Tupac.
40:27And we were like,
40:27there they go.
40:28Just wanted to do that.
40:30And we just pulled up
40:31on the side
40:31and checked every car
40:32to see where they was.
40:33So what directed
40:34your attention to him
40:35with some girls
40:36shouting at Tupac?
40:37Tupac, Tupac.
40:38He gave us up away.
40:39Otherwise,
40:40it would have gone away.
40:42And man,
40:43he leaned over
40:44on the window
40:45and we were
40:45down the window.
40:46Pop.
40:48Should go kill
40:48where he sees you.
40:50Yeah.
40:51Definitely him.
40:52Okay.
40:54Fuck is it going
40:55to tell us
40:55when we were seven,
40:56eight years old?
40:58I seen a bully
40:59going,
40:59yeah,
41:00I thought he was dead.
41:02I thought he was dead.
41:03If you knew
41:05who killed Tupac,
41:06would you tell the police?
41:08Absolutely not.
41:11I'm going to park the car.
41:13You know,
41:13put the gun on the tire
41:14and left.
41:15Where'd you guys go?
41:16We smoke weed and rain.
41:18Yeah,
41:18that's a hotel.
41:20It's a hotel.
41:20They're partying in the room.
41:22And they pulled up
41:23in the ambulance
41:23while we were
41:24standing right there.
41:26Take off bullshit.
41:27You guys on the street
41:28with what?
41:29We on Las Vegas
41:30Boulevard
41:30at the crosswalk
41:31and they pull up
41:32down there
41:33right next to us.
41:34We're going to be
41:35already.
41:36We're going to be
41:36in the car.
41:38This is close.
41:40Did they see you?
41:41No, they couldn't see.
41:42We didn't give a fuck.
41:43We didn't give a fuck.
41:43I'm talking about
41:44the damn left
41:45to park right here.
41:46Right next to us.
41:47That shit was
41:48as funny as a moment.
41:49Come on.
41:52And I haven't
41:52ever told nobody
41:53this to remember.
41:56So you get back
41:57to L.A.
41:57the next day,
41:58Zip College,
41:59you says,
41:59meet me at the
42:00hotline place.
42:00Where at?
42:01You guys go over there,
42:04Zip shows up.
42:05You guys,
42:06what happens to us?
42:07People call
42:08and he told them
42:09yeah, it was us.
42:10On Zip's phone
42:11or your phone?
42:11On Zip's phone.
42:13And Zip gives you
42:14the phone?
42:15Yeah.
42:16People say,
42:17well,
42:17he was happy
42:18or they all shit.
42:20And did you ask
42:20him about his money?
42:21When he was going
42:21to get paid
42:22or whatever?
42:22No, I don't know
42:23how to say that
42:24on the phone.
42:24On Zip,
42:25go get our cash.
42:27OK, so he tells
42:28Zip we need
42:29to get paid.
42:30What does Zip say?
42:31I'm going to go
42:31back home and have a...
42:32Yeah, I'll get back
42:33with John.
42:34Yeah.
42:37According to QVD,
42:38he was never compensated
42:39for the murder.
42:42But he said
42:43that a partial amount
42:45of the money
42:45was intended
42:46to be forwarded
42:47to him
42:48through Zip
42:49to the tune
42:50of about $500,000.
42:51The $1,000,000 solicitation amount,
42:56only half of it
42:57was fulfilled
42:58because only Tupac
42:59and not Shug
43:01was killed.
43:03QVD has a conversation
43:05with Darius Rogers,
43:06with DMACC.
43:07He don't like the D,
43:08but you can do
43:08some of the DMACC right there.
43:12And DMACC says
43:13there had been a payment
43:15from Combs
43:16to QVD,
43:18but it had gone
43:19through Zip
43:20and then that money
43:21was never forwarded.
43:26We're just hoping
43:27and waiting
43:28to see
43:28what kind of progress
43:29Las Vegas would make
43:31with QVD's cooperation.
43:35Nothing really happens.
43:39Ultimately,
43:40Zip dies from cancer.
43:43Thank you for coming
43:43out to Zips
43:44and I want everybody
43:45to know that
43:46when you come here,
43:47we want to keep
43:48the peace.
43:49And Orlando Anderson
43:50is shot and killed
43:51in 1998.
43:53So,
43:54it's really QVD
43:55and Puffy Combs
43:57are the last men standing.
43:58They can be held accountable
44:00for Tupac Shakur's murder.
44:01waiting patiently
44:14looking to see
44:15if that's you.
44:19Put the sun up.
44:21I'm going to walk with you.
44:22All right.
44:23I'm going to see you.
44:24Take that off.
44:43All right.
44:45Let's move my groove.
44:46What goes up
44:55must come down
44:57and what goes down
44:58must come up.
45:00Fuck.
45:01I remember 99,
45:06we were working
45:06in the studio
45:07on a song called
45:08Muscle Gang.
45:10The song comes on
45:18and Puff
45:19was talking
45:19in the beginning.
45:20It's 1999.
45:24No more Mr. Nice guys.
45:26I'm like,
45:26what is he talking about?
45:29Fuck with me,
45:30I drop a million dollars
45:31on your head.
45:32Erase you
45:32and your own family.
45:33It's going to start
45:34making young niggas
45:35disappear, man.
45:36Everything that's done
45:37in the dark
45:38must come to light.
45:40Everything that goes up
45:41must come down.
45:42All right.
45:44We'll be out here.
45:47We'll be back.
46:02Yeah, I'm headed
46:03to 113 for Lennox, King.
46:05I got to catch my man up here.
46:06I see you up here.
46:09Are you up rolling?
46:10Yeah, we rolling.
46:22With the backdrop
46:23of East Coast,
46:25West Coast beef,
46:26Sean took Biggie
46:27to Los Angeles
46:28to record
46:30what would be
46:31the finishing touches
46:32on Biggie's
46:33Life After Death album,
46:34which wasn't titled
46:35that yet.
46:41Yo.
46:42Yo, baby, wake up.
46:43Wake up, baby.
46:43Diddy, what the fuck, man?
46:44What's up?
46:45Come on, now.
46:46It's a quarter to six.
46:46We got the 7.30 flight
46:48on to LAX.
46:49Whoa.
46:50Kelly?
46:51No doubt, baby.
46:53We had been warned
46:54to not come to LA.
46:57There were warnings
46:57all along
46:58for the last few months
46:59that we are not
47:00to set foot
47:01on the West Coast.
47:04It was awards show season
47:06and Sean wanted him
47:08to start promoting
47:09the album.
47:11Come on, Song Train.
47:12Get up out your seats.
47:13Come on.
47:14Get up out your seats.
47:16Biggie did not want to go,
47:18but Sean talked him
47:20into doing all
47:21of those things.
47:22Down low.
47:23Get up out your seats.
47:24Come on.
47:25They were like
47:28catcalling and booing.
47:37What's up, Kelly?
47:39We were not welcome.
47:42After the awards show,
47:43Saturday morning,
47:46Biggie and I
47:46were to go to London
47:47and we were going to have
47:48a two, three day
47:49press jump gig
47:50to have Biggie
47:51be one of the first artists
47:53from Bad Boy
47:54to meet the European press.
47:56I had worked on that
47:58for months and weeks
47:58leading up.
48:00We were supposed
48:01to go to the airport
48:02that morning.
48:04I'm calling Biggie
48:04like crazy.
48:05What's going on?
48:06Wake up.
48:07He's like, yo,
48:08Puff is bugging.
48:09He just called me
48:10and told me,
48:11I want you to stay
48:12here in L.A.
48:13I don't want to stay.
48:14I want to go.
48:16But Sean was adamant.
48:20Cancel the flight.
48:22Biggie's not going
48:23to the U.K.
48:23What do you mean
48:24he's not going to clip?
48:25He hangs up.
48:27This was his M.O.
48:29Ego, power, tripping.
48:33All of it because
48:34Sean wanted to do
48:35a party on enemy turf.
48:42Scared to death.
48:46That's how real it is.
48:47I think somebody
48:48is trying to kill me.
48:49I'll be waking up paranoid.
48:50I'll be really scared.
48:52I'll just be peril.
48:58That night,
49:00Big and Puffy
49:02was with us.
49:08They were having a party.
49:10I spoke to Big.
49:17And I was like,
49:17yo, man, you know,
49:19what are you doing?
49:22Catching L.A., man,
49:23they get down
49:24in these circumstances, man,
49:25and you just can't be
49:26walking around here freely.
49:29Everybody's mingling.
49:37I look around, I say,
49:43where's Big?
49:46I want to get out.
49:47Get out.
49:48Hey, what am I saying?
49:49Wait, hold up, hold up.
49:50I'm on the street.
49:52Zoom in.
49:52I don't know.
49:53What am I saying?
49:54That's big of me.
50:03That is big of me.
50:04That is big of me.
50:04That is big of me.
50:05That is big of me.
50:06Somebody got shot.
50:07Y'all get down.
50:10What are you reporting?
50:11Yeah, we need an ambulance
50:13on Fairfax and Wilshire.
50:15Green's, Los Angeles.
50:16We have a man shot.
50:17We have a shot.
50:19Okay, hold on.
50:20I'll get that.
50:20I'm sorry.
50:20Right on the corner,
50:21Wilshire and Fairfax.
50:21Let's go, let's go.
50:25Hold on.
50:26Listen, sir.
50:26I can't hear what you're saying.
50:28We're man shot in our car right now.
50:31Right now, we're trying to run
50:32to the hospital.
50:34I know the way.
50:35See the sign-up.
50:37You gotta go back.
50:38You gotta turn around, Jimmy.
50:39You're going the wrong way.
50:40What the fuck is wrong with y'all, man?
50:42What's going on?
50:43Yo, Big, you feel me?
50:44Yeah, what's up?
50:44Los Piente?
50:47Big!
50:47Is that Los Piente?
50:48Big!
50:48I was following Big's lead on, like, you know,
50:53we're going to do this peace tour.
50:56And, you know, it didn't work out.
51:01Sean said it on Can't Stop, Won't Stop.
51:03Biggie wanted to go.
51:05You want right by the door?
51:06Quick, you're left, man.
51:07Big, you hear me, baby?
51:09He's lying about that.
51:13Sean wanted that trip and was pushing it
51:16for weeks and weeks.
51:18He lied about it and let me know
51:21that's a weak spot for him.
51:23And he's nervous about that information.
51:26He ushered Biggie to his death.
51:34Who do you think called Biggie?
51:42Next question.
51:46All it was is a Puffy and Suge Knight war.
51:50You're messing with lives here.
51:51And that's exactly what happened.
51:54Two lives were lost as a result of what?
51:57Stupidity?
51:57When I sat down with Valetta,
52:00we briefly brought up Sean Combs.
52:03It was clear to me that she had no real respect
52:06or appreciation for him.
52:08Sean clearly didn't do all that he could have done
52:10to help out in the investigation.
52:13In fact, he was a hindrance in the investigation.
52:16Puffy was kind of stonewalling people from talking
52:19because he knows if you make inroads on Biggie's murder,
52:23you're going to make inroads on Tupac's murder.
52:26And that potentially can lead right back to him.
52:31How are Biggie's mom and Faith and the kids
52:34taking all this?
52:36Biggie's moms and Faith and the children
52:38are extremely strong.
52:39They've been, matter of fact,
52:40they've been strong for me
52:42and helping to hold me up.
52:44Sean assumed the position of his best friend
52:48in every article and publication,
52:51and that wasn't necessarily true.
52:54And I'm going to be there for them.
52:56Just like he would be there for them
52:57to make sure that they're all right.
52:59Sean said, we're going to do the biggest funeral for Biggie
53:02that New York has ever seen.
53:05And we start to put that together.
53:07He starts to see the price.
53:09And he says, we're going to do the biggest funeral,
53:12but Biggie's going to have to pay for this funeral.
53:14He was going to make the funeral be a recoupable charge
53:20to Biggie in death.
53:23This is one of my closest friends,
53:25and it's still one of my closest friends.
53:27I just feel his loss.
53:30I just miss him so much.
53:33Sean doing a big show looks good on him,
53:36but he's not going to tell the world
53:39that Biggie was going to pay for it.
53:41In Bestar, Brooklyn, the whole hood was outside.
53:55If you could make it there, you was there.
53:58It was a big loss for the city.
54:02I loved Biggie.
54:04Biggie inspired me.
54:05He gave me hope.
54:06He made us feel like you was from the town.
54:08You couldn't make it.
54:09We loved Biggie,
54:10so it was like losing a family member.
54:14Biggie just wanted to be a rap superstar.
54:17He didn't want to hurt nobody.
54:21He was probably one of the only people
54:22I had really trusted for a long time.
54:25It's not a feeling that I really felt a lot
54:27in my life.
54:28I don't really have a lot of friends.
54:30I think people think I have a lot of friends.
54:34I don't think I really make a good friend.
54:38Before he was assassinated,
54:40Biggie had an opportunity
54:42to be on the cover of Rolling Stone.
54:46We were delivering the elements
54:48so that can happen,
54:49and Sean called me and said,
54:51pull that cover.
54:52I need to be on the cover.
54:54My solo album is coming in July,
54:57no way out,
54:58and I need to amp that up.
55:02He took the cover from Biggie.
55:04Another thing at the time,
55:10Biggie was negotiating his contract.
55:13Every day I wake up.
55:16We acquiesced
55:17and gave him everything he wanted,
55:19and then he died.
55:20Can't believe you ain't here.
55:23Sean wanted me
55:25to change the agreement
55:27to more favorable terms for bad boy,
55:30and his family and mother would not know.
55:33And since he had signed the agreement,
55:35he wanted those changes
55:37to come from out of the center of the agreement
55:40and have those pages replaced
55:42with the other terms.
55:43And I said,
55:44that's not right.
55:44I'm not doing it.
55:46Ninety days later,
55:47I'm fired.
55:49It's like I feel empty inside
55:51without you being here.
55:52I remember Michael Jackson,
56:02the Motown 25 special.
56:03MTV,
56:05Madonna Like a Virgin.
56:06And I remember Puff
56:07with Sting.
56:09Check it out.
56:16Having a TV moment in music
56:18is very rare.
56:19It elevates you
56:20to such another level
56:22of superstar.
56:23It made him rock star, bitch.
56:25It's kind of hard
56:27but you're not around.
56:28Know you in heaven
56:29smiling down.
56:30Watching us
56:31while we pray for you.
56:32He became humongous.
56:34But now it's him.
56:36Now I'm the man.
56:37It was like a dream come true
56:39to see the lines
56:41like in front of the stores.
56:43Like,
56:43people going there
56:44to get my record.
56:46It's crazy.
56:47It all happened pretty quickly for you
56:48from being an intern
56:49to being
56:50on the cover
56:51of the Rolling Stones.
56:53Thanks for Biggie's mother
56:55who's sitting right there
56:56for having Notorious V.I.G.
56:59You've abused everyone
57:01and used most everyone.
57:03Put your ladies in there
57:04for V.I.G.
57:05Everybody put your life
57:06down here for something.
57:07There are horror stories
57:08like this
57:09all throughout.
57:11Cleared of gun possession
57:12and bribery charges,
57:14Sean Puffy Combs
57:15walked out of free man.
57:16Some people speak up about it.
57:17Most do not.
57:19The first member
57:20is
57:21Aubrey.
57:24It's a pattern with him.
57:27Violence was a very
57:29normalized part
57:30of living in that world.
57:32You're a bad boy now.
57:34Allegations of sexual misconduct.
57:36Huffy called these encounters
57:37freak-offs.
57:38Witnessed Diddy
57:39abusing Cassie
57:40and that they encouraged
57:42Cassie to get away from him.
57:43Everything in life
57:46you're going to have
57:46people that are bad
57:47and people that are good.
57:49You know?
57:50You have to choose your side.
57:51Be sure to do it.
57:52You have to choose your side.
57:54You have to choose your side.
57:56You have to choose your side.
