Aravalli Mountains. A controversy has erupted over the Aravalli mountain range, one of the oldest mountain ranges in the world. The Aravalli range has a history of approximately 2 billion years. It stretches for 670 kilometers across Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Delhi in northwestern India. The highest point in this mountain range is 1,722 meters. These are fold mountains. When tectonic plates deep within the Earth collide forcefully against each other, the pressure on the landmass between them increases.
