00:00In this episode, a mysterious stranger takes the Doctor under his wing.
00:06That is so cool.
00:09Some cosplaying aliens are having a hoot.
00:12Me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me.
00:15I've been learning about the phrase, the early bird catches the worm.
00:20Welcome to Doctor Who Unleashed.
00:22Coming up, how does one go from this, to this, to this?
00:28It looks how I feel.
00:30Guest star Jonathan Groff reveals what it's like to dance with a Doctor.
00:34Took me to a completely different place with him.
00:37Like, we were in the stars together dancing.
00:41And spoiler alert, we've got an Unleashed exclusive clip from the next Doctor Who episode.
00:46Honoured guests, you are cordially invited to Doctor Who Unleashed, the show that gets you behind-the-scenes access to the Who-niverse.
01:04In this episode, we lift the lid on Rogue, the seventh adventure of Shuti Gatwa's Doctor and his companion, Ruby Sunday.
01:14OK, great.
01:15But be prepared for spoilers.
01:17So, without further ado...
01:22Action.
01:24Set against a Regency-era backdrop, this episode might have a familiar feel, if you like, another television series set in a similar historical period.
01:33Which, we are most definitely not allowed to mention.
01:36Bridgerton.
01:37Bridgerton.
01:38Oh, my, Bridgerton!
01:39This is my actual dream!
01:40It's brilliant, isn't it?
01:41This is Doctor Who meets Bridgerton.
01:42If I have any guess, this will be the episode everyone talks about.
01:47So, how would the Doctor describe it?
01:51Sexy.
01:52I don't know if I'm allowed to say that, but it was full of passions and passion.
01:58You know, whenever you do Regency stuff, it makes you walk and move and talk differently.
02:04It's always nice playing with that.
02:06We love our costume and makeup departments, and they probably hate the fact that we love them, because the fact that we love them means we work them to death.
02:12So, the steam come out of their ears, because we're going, let's do the Regency, let's have a ball, let's have the ladies and the staff, and the full pomp and ceremony of that period.
02:24The dances, the movement, the choreography, the style of it, we just wanted this to look lavish.
02:30Throw in some bloodthirsty, body-snatching, cosplaying alien birds, and you've already got the makings of a Doctor Who classic.
02:39But really, the heart of this episode is a slow-burning pash between the Doctor and a mysterious intergalactic bounty hunter, Rogue.
02:48My name is Jonathan Groff, and I am playing Rogue.
02:52The multi-award-winning star of shows such as Glee, Hamilton and Frozen, Jonathan Groff comes with the glitter of Hollywood superstardom.
03:01You have those moments where they say, shall we send this script to Jonathan Groff?
03:04And I'm like, yeah, go on, waste my time.
03:06And he read it and loved it. It's a superstar of a man.
03:10So Rogue is basically an alien bounty hunter.
03:14So I've been thinking a lot about Han Solo from Star Wars.
03:18We find ourselves meeting in this world and teaming up to destroy a common ally.
03:26And in the process of that, open up to each other, get a bit vulnerable, and have a connection at the same time that we're having an adventure.
03:40Nice to meet you. I'm the Doctor.
03:42Just the Doctor?
03:44Just Rogue?
03:46This is a chance for the Doctor to sizzle. We don't often do this, but in fact, he meets someone who is just on the set.
03:54I mean, first of all, they're enemies, then they're friends, that classic, they go for classic rom-com structures.
03:58The meet-cute, and the arguing, and the falling out, then the coming together, and then the sacrifice.
04:04Fast paper?
04:06OK.
04:08There's this lonely souls meeting that happens in the script that I was really moved by.
04:14Let's argue across the stars.
04:16It's just new sides to the Doctor. So he gets to flirt, he gets to break his heart.
04:21I like that.
04:23Russell enlisted writer Kate Herron, director and executive producer of Loki, and her writing partner, Bryony Redman, to pen these new sides of the Doctor.
04:33Out of the gate, I was like, well, look, I love romance, like, can we do, like, a queer romance?
04:38And he was like, absolutely. So, yes, I think that was always, like, I guess, the centre of it for us and, like, the heart of the story.
04:46Shooty's interpretation is so extroverted, so we were like, well, let's make them a bit more of an introvert,
04:51because that will just be fun and, you know, opposites attract.
04:54He's an incredible actor. I zoomed with him, and I guess that was, like, our kind of chemistry read.
05:02Now this is a surprise.
05:09And it was full of chemistry.
05:13It's like you've got the right man for the job.
05:21One particular scene that had to sizzle was the intimate dance between Rogue and the Doctor.
05:34We've got in the choreographer Jack Murphy, who choreographs Bridgerton.
05:40A formidable, lovable rogue of a man. As he worked with us, like, through the steps, it didn't feel like we were learning at Dance Steps clinically.
05:50Like, he'd always rooted in some form of, like, artistic intent.
05:56The choreography was very much about the connection forming and vibing between the two characters.
06:05The day that we performed the dance is so far my favorite day on set.
06:10There's a moment in the dance where the lights go out and it's a spotlight on the two of us dancing.
06:16And I, there was no one else in the room but Shooty. It was really transformational and took me to a completely different place with him.
06:27Like, we were in the stars together dancing.
06:31Performing it on a day felt very nerve-wracking but electric.
06:36Who's gonna blink? Who's gonna be surprised?
06:38In the story it makes perfect sense because they are trying to fight an enemy who live on drama, who cosplay, who live on sensation and appearance and reactions and scandal.
06:51Oh my ladies.
06:53So this set out's created scandal. I don't think it's remotely scandalous. I think it's simply beautiful to watch.
07:00The episode ends with that kiss.
07:04And Rogue sacrificing himself for Ruby.
07:08But is this the end for the Doctor's new found love interest?
07:12I hope we're seeing Rogue again.
07:16Rogue tells the Doctor at the end of the episode to find him.
07:19So it's totally up to the Doctor.
07:22The ball is in his court, so to speak.
07:32The storyline for this episode takes place across one evening.
07:36But it took three weeks of night shoots to get everything in the can.
07:40Looks really pretty, doesn't it?
07:41Facing lots of late starts and early finishes, the Who crew needed to prepare themselves for the challenges ahead.
07:49For me, that means starting the night off the best way I know. A good cup of builder's tea.
07:55When they said that we were going to come and do nights, I was quite cocky. I was like, oh that's easy, that's fine, I'm used to that.
08:03It's actually quite hard work.
08:05I'm flagging and I'm not so cocky now.
08:10What's weird is, they've just brought these giant cranes in and they're massive.
08:15They're so bright, that you forget that it's three o'clock in the morning.
08:21It's like the middle of the afternoon.
08:23So how's everyone coping?
08:26We've not been terrible.
08:27When we knew that we were going to have three weeks night shoots, it was like, oh my word, this is going to be difficult.
08:33But it's been...
08:36Get on with it. I feel like everyone has smashed it.
08:39So you don't change it up, you just...
08:42Carry on as normal?
08:44Just carry on as normal. I'm a bit of a night owl anyway, so it suits me fine.
08:47Yeah.
08:49I feel, night shoots, like you say, is always just quite atmospheric.
08:56I feel working at night.
08:57Look at that, I mean, if that's got Instagram written all over it, isn't it?
09:00Yes, yes.
09:01It turns out though, Shooty, the wisteria, the flowers, they're not real.
09:05Fake flowers.
09:06Really?
09:07I was a bit disappointed about that.
09:08I was disappointed about that.
09:09It's all right though, don't worry, you'll be fine.
09:12Thanks man.
09:13It's okay.
09:15I've got the wisteria to one side.
09:16How's everyone else preparing?
09:18So, night shoot.
09:20Your first one?
09:21It is my first night shoot actually.
09:23And how are you doing so far?
09:24So far I'm alright.
09:25Yeah?
09:26Yeah, the key for me is layers.
09:28It's all about your body temp, that's what's keeping you going.
09:31Yeah, I probably should have bought my hat today.
09:34Because my ears are pretty cold right now.
09:36But it's not too bad.
09:39Lads, how are you coping?
09:40Going well, going well so far.
09:42Active, awake, second coffee.
09:43Second coffee.
09:44Are you two coffees in already?
09:45Two coffees.
09:46I'm going to keep going with it.
09:47Yeah, yeah.
09:48And then if I need a boost, maybe 3am.
09:50Yeah.
09:51For a little bit.
09:52Are you a coffee guy as well?
09:53I'm fresh.
09:54I don't have no coffee, only water.
09:55Just water.
09:56Just water.
09:57I can't do that.
09:58I've had four cups of tea already.
09:59Four?
10:00Yeah.
10:01Wow.
10:03What's your tactic?
10:04Ginger shots are great.
10:06And caffeine, like coffee.
10:08Yeah.
10:09Towards the end of the night, Haribo sweets.
10:11Oh, nice.
10:12You know when the Haribo comes out later?
10:14Yes.
10:15Do you want one?
10:16Can I?
10:17Yes, of course.
10:18Make sure you...
10:19I'll bring them down.
10:20Yeah.
10:21One cup of coffee and loads of oranges.
10:25Vitamin C gives energy.
10:27I was actually advised this.
10:29By who?
10:30By Tom Hardy.
10:31No way!
10:32Yeah, on a night shoot.
10:33No way!
10:34He said vitamin C tablets and oranges.
10:36Yeah.
10:37And it's a work to treat.
10:38Yeah.
10:39Two years later, still doing me justice.
10:40Well, if Tom Hardy says it, then...
10:42It's...
10:43Who can disagree?
10:47Sadly, though, not everyone's prepared themselves adequately
10:50for a Doctor Who night shoot.
10:54Just kidding.
10:55These creepy corpses are the work of the incredible prosthetics
10:59and costume departments.
11:01It looks how I feel.
11:03Yeah, he's dead.
11:04He's finished.
11:06And Dina's not seen this yet.
11:07This is a deceased you.
11:09Oh, my goodness.
11:12That is so weird.
11:15Did you ever think to yourself, you know,
11:17when you started your acting career,
11:19and you've been in some pretty big shows?
11:22I've died a lot once again.
11:24You are.
11:25You're used to it by now.
11:26I've seen myself dead before.
11:27Yeah, I suppose not in this.
11:29But not like this.
11:30No.
11:31Not like that.
11:32Yeah.
11:33That is gross.
11:34It's a bit more dangerous.
11:35I've seen a lot of people in the room.
11:36But not like that.
11:37It's a bit more dangerous.
11:38The night shoot drawing to a close,
11:39I want to check in with the Hull crew
11:41and see if their tips and tricks to work through the shift
11:44have paid off.
11:45How are you doing?
11:46I'm doing well.
11:47How are you doing?
11:48Eh...
11:49I'm flagging now.
11:50I've had more than that.
11:52I've lost count.
11:53Six?
11:54Oh, no.
11:55I'm flagging.
11:56It's dangerous.
11:57Yeah.
11:58You don't look the most sprightly, mate.
12:01I'm very tired.
12:02Yeah.
12:03You know earlier you were saying the Hull Tom Hardy
12:06just oranges and water thing.
12:08Do you think that maybe Tom didn't necessarily get it right
12:12with his tactics?
12:13I think he lied.
12:15If you're watching, Tom,
12:16Schwab doesn't like the Hull vitamin C plan.
12:19It hasn't worked.
12:20It has not worked.
12:21Yeah.
12:24I cannot see Michelle.
12:26Therefore, I can't see the Haribo
12:28that's supposed to help me through the final hour
12:32of tonight's show.
12:35I'm starting to think she made the whole thing up.
12:46Still to come on Doctor Who Unleashed.
12:48Now find them!
12:51Mission Impossible actor Indira Farmer
12:53reveals what it really takes to turn into a childer.
12:56Three and a half to four hours
12:58and then about 45 minutes to take it all.
13:01I get measured up for my work experience.
13:06Messed up like someone who was living 200 years ago.
13:10And spoiler alert!
13:12We've got a world-exclusive peek
13:14at the next episode of Doctor Who.
13:17But first...
13:18Of course, a Regency drama is all about the look.
13:23And to pull it off in all its pomp,
13:25you need a lavish, stately pile
13:28filled with candelabras and candles,
13:31peacocks and pineapples,
13:32and party animals
13:33fopping around in breeches and tailcoats,
13:35corsets and bodices.
13:38I honestly felt the prettiest I've ever felt.
13:41I remember Pam, our costume designer,
13:43said that yellow always works with blondes.
13:46And it did.
13:48I decided to put Millie in yellow
13:49because she looks good in yellow
13:51and not everybody can get away with it.
13:53And it looks good on camera.
13:56And in that set,
13:57because it was quite dark,
13:58it popped.
13:59So it's quite nice.
14:00Whenever you do Regency stuff
14:02and like period stuff,
14:03it makes you walk and move and talk differently.
14:06I just loved all those ruffles
14:08and my hair and everything about that outfit.
14:11So the waistcoat and the breeches of cream
14:14and the coat,
14:16I wanted to have something sort of deep in colour
14:19but quite rich in colour.
14:21And so I chose that sort of very deep,
14:23almost wine colour in velvet.
14:25So it was quite luxurious.
14:26But at the same time,
14:27I was kind of aware that John Pertwee also wore a,
14:31I think the same colour, a velvet jacket.
14:33So there was a nod to an old doctor.
14:36It just felt wealthy.
14:40Wealthy.
14:42I was like, I want to look like I'm rich
14:44and I own land.
14:46And that's what I looked like
14:48and so it was good.
14:49But it wasn't just the main cast
14:51that Pam and her team had to kit out.
14:53There were also 73 supporting artists
14:56in this episode.
14:57That's 73 Regency costumes,
15:0073 pairs of Regency shoes
15:02and 73 Regency hairdos.
15:05And the person in charge of corralling
15:07this army of aristocratic extra
15:09is Mikey.
15:11So in 35 minutes, friends,
15:13we're going to get the dancers lined up.
15:15So if we can just prepare for that,
15:16that would be amazing.
15:18So today we're filming a,
15:19the beginning of episode six,
15:21which is very exciting.
15:22We've got lots of dancers.
15:23We've got lots of crowd.
15:24We've got some musicians.
15:25We've basically got a very big opening.
15:27So yeah, we've also got my ear going off at the moment.
15:30One sec.
15:31Okay, sorry.
15:32That will happen a lot.
15:33It's 9am.
15:34And in just three hours time,
15:36we're recording the spectacular opening ball scene.
15:40That might seem like plenty of time,
15:42but with all those supporting artists and dancers
15:44to get ready,
15:45Mikey and his team are up against it.
15:49Helping Mikey and the other ADs are a team of runners
15:52charged with getting each of the performers ready for filming.
15:56We've got Callum here who's running the costume department.
15:59We've got Simona a little bit further who's doing makeup.
16:03I am in charge of the dancers today.
16:05The reality of it is having enough time to get everyone through.
16:09So there's 60 odd people today.
16:11That'll take us two hours,
16:12which is pretty good.
16:13I'm going to say it's for a period as well.
16:15It's pretty good.
16:16There's a lot of people on the top of their game.
16:17And then we've also got a built in breakfast for everyone in that as well.
16:20Very important.
16:21So we do build that time in.
16:23Hold on.
16:24Did someone mention breakfast?
16:25Basically what happens is you have to feed all the essays in half an hour.
16:30So there's always a bit of a hustle to get everyone through as quick as possible basically.
16:33Everyone has to wear bibs so they can protect these lovely, lovely costumes.
16:36Everyone's having a good time, aren't they guys?
16:40As you can see, we are very good at our jobs.
16:42Whilst everyone's tucking in,
16:44I'd like to know where all these supporting artists come from.
16:47What will happen is we will get a script and it will say,
16:51you know, we'll be in this time, we'll need this about people.
16:53We'll then go to the director and the director will say,
16:55I want, I don't know, 40 people in this roughly.
16:57Yeah.
16:58And we'll talk to costume and makeup departments about, you know, costume sizes.
17:01That's a really important thing because a lot of these costumes are made here.
17:04They're hired and then they have to fit into those costumes.
17:07Yeah.
17:08So that casting process goes out to a bunch of agencies that we use.
17:11Yeah.
17:12But there's also some street casting involved as well,
17:14where we went out to lots of different dance schools and did lots of casting like that.
17:18You've got jobbing supporting artists.
17:20Some people use it as a job.
17:21Yeah.
17:22There are people that I've been casting people in the past on other productions
17:25where I would literally spot them on the street and be like,
17:28oh my goodness, you're perfect.
17:29And I'd just drop what I'm doing and I would just run over to them
17:31with a clipboard and a photograph and take a photo of them.
17:3490% of the time everyone's really kind of intrigued and up for it.
17:37Yeah.
17:3810% of the time they think I'm some weirdo coming up to them on the street.
17:40From finding their photo from an agent or whatever or just meeting them in real life,
17:44to them being stood on the set looking amazing in these costumes.
17:47Yeah.
17:48It's really satisfying.
17:49Yeah, it's kind of...
17:50With everyone fed and watered, it's time for one last check before the action begins.
17:55OK, dancers, we're going to go to set.
17:57So grab your stuff and we'll be on our way.
18:01But in an episode about cosplay, what does it actually feel like dressing up for a costume drama?
18:07Carl and Katie, here you are in your regala.
18:09How comfortable is this, is the get-up, Katie?
18:11Not so comfortable.
18:12But you look fabulous, so it's OK.
18:14There's one built in the dress and then you need the extra for this region for the extra vavoon.
18:20For the regency look, shall we say.
18:23How about you, Carl?
18:24How are you finding it?
18:25You look fantastic.
18:26I think most of the costume is very comfortable.
18:28The shoes can be a bit draining after a whole day of running around, walking around in the same shoes.
18:34Guys, we're about to send them up to set.
18:36Thank you very much.
18:37Bye-bye.
18:38Bye-bye.
18:39Thank you very much.
18:40Thanks for the wrangling.
18:41There we are.
18:42There's wrangling in action for you right there.
18:44Nice one.
18:45We're stepping on with dancers.
18:46Thanks gang.
18:47Into our positions, friends.
18:48Thank you very much.
18:49It's more than just making sure they're in the right place at the right time.
18:52But you're feeding those notes from the director.
18:54Yes.
18:55So we're the assistant directors.
18:56So our job is to dress it, which is where we place all the extras and supporting artists where they need to be.
19:00And then we go for rehearsal and the director will say something like,
19:03Can you tweak them?
19:04Can you build up their performance or can you dial it back?
19:06Yeah.
19:07We're running around, essentially choreographing the extras.
19:10So we try and get the best performances out of them as well.
19:12And sometimes that's explaining to them in a big room of people.
19:14We go, right, this is what's going to happen today.
19:16You need to do this and that.
19:17When we get them on set, there's a lot more precision involved because we're kind of looking at what the camera is seeing.
19:22Standing by to rehearse it.
19:23So we then will go down to them and be like, can you be a bit more sad?
19:26Can you find some tears or something?
19:28That's quite a challenge.
19:29And play back.
19:31By the stroke of midday, Mikey and his team have managed to get everyone in costume and in position for the cameras to start rolling.
19:38I'm quite happy with what we've done on this episode.
19:42I think everyone looks really good.
19:43Yeah.
19:54Down the years, the Hooniverse has brought us all manner of bothersome beasts.
19:58And in this episode, the Doctor came face to beak with a particularly foul race of cosplaying feathered foes.
20:06The Chunder.
20:07What? By the Lord?
20:09I've got quite a history on Doctor Who of using animals.
20:12Rhinos.
20:13We've had cats.
20:14We've had pigs.
20:15And here come the birds.
20:17Here come the beautiful birds with their most flamboyant.
20:25Right at the very beginning, I said, do you know what we haven't done?
20:27We haven't done human beings in alien prosthetics walking around saying, I will kill you, Doctor.
20:35And so that's why I said, please, can we do that?
20:37And I just thought birds were a lovely chance.
20:40The colours, the ceremony, the show, the flamboyance, just the beauty of birds.
20:46You think of birds with their feathers as quite showy and they're quite dress-up aliens,
20:49so it kind of makes sense that they go from feathers to full-on outfit.
20:54That is such a Doctor Who sentence, isn't it?
20:56Birds, they just love fancy dress.
20:58They do!
20:59It makes perfect sense, birds love fancy dress, of course they do.
21:02And also, this is a very rare opportunity, this is my first chance at Doctor Who,
21:06where every member of an alien species looks different.
21:10All the Cholder birds look different to each other and I love that.
21:12It's a family of birds.
21:13A family of birds.
21:16Mark up.
21:18See you, Mark.
21:20This flock of shape-shifting baddies are led by the sinister Duchess of Pemberton,
21:25played by Mission Impossible and Game of Thrones actor, Indira Varma.
21:29Me, I get to be Regency Duchess of Pemberton and then I change into weird Cholder Duchess of Pemberton,
21:38who then, they reveal their true selves and they become these alien birds.
21:44Now find them!
21:45Then when they become birds, it's just chaos and that was really fun.
21:51But before the fun begins, how much time is spent in the prosthetics chair?
21:56Oh, not long, just maybe three and a half to four hours.
22:00And then about 45 minutes to take it all off.
22:04And don't I look fabulous!
22:09So, how are these cluckers bought alive?
22:12Each bird has two technicians with them.
22:16We've got a make-up artist and an assistant for each of them,
22:18which means we have 12 people as well as myself today.
22:22It's gone from, you know, digital sculpting to practical sculpting,
22:26taken inspiration from birds of prey.
22:29So many things were thought of, including, you know, the colour of a bird's hands,
22:34you know, the claws, for it to have little gloves on.
22:37And should they be the same colour?
22:38Should they kind of be similar to the birds that we're trying to replicate?
22:41Yeah, yeah. And a mammoth and a mother of feathers, no doubt.
22:43Oh my God, we're covered in feathers.
22:45The workshop's like a giant nest right now. It's absolutely bonkers.
22:50I don't like it when people ask me about what it feels like to be in it,
22:55because it makes me think about it.
22:57No, it's actually okay, because it's glued onto my skin.
23:02There's no space in between my skin and it to start getting itchy.
23:08Well, it is quite disconcerting speaking to you when you look like this.
23:13How does it feel?
23:15And you've got the hands on as well, the hands are straight, doesn't it?
23:18Yeah. The hand, yeah, it's, look, it feels, it's not the most comfortable feeling.
23:24A ruby sundae.
23:25I want to be you.
23:31It's been great. It's been very funny.
23:35You forget that you have it on sometimes.
23:37I'll be walking around and, like, people give you weird looks.
23:41It actually keeps you warm.
23:42Is it?
23:43Like, when it's on. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
23:45And you're enjoying the character. You're enjoying being a bandy.
23:47I am, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
23:48That's always so much fun to, as an actor, to play a villain and explore that, that side of humanity.
23:55Yeah, yeah, yeah.
23:57And that's a good thing.
23:59Well, it's important. Thank you very much for chatting to us.
24:00Thank you. Thank you, please.
24:02So you're gonna...
24:03Oh, God, I'm not going to sleep tonight.
24:06Yeah.
24:09Now, this was a busy episode, right?
24:11You saw how many supporting artists were in it,
24:15but they don't just turn up with all their Regency costume ready to go.
24:19I mean, who's got that laying around?
24:21It was all down to these guys.
24:24Just go find out how it happened.
24:31Hello. Nice to see you.
24:32Thanks for having me.
24:33Welcome to the costume department.
24:35I knew you were working costumes straight away when I met you first.
24:37Is this a bit of a giveaway?
24:38Just a measuring table on the neck.
24:39Is this a bit of a giveaway, yeah.
24:39Dead giveaway, straight away.
24:41So I'm going to go under your shirt now
24:43and just measure what's called your natural waist,
24:45so that's straight around.
24:46I've actually got a suit fitting for a mate's wedding coming up,
24:48but what was my chest of interest so I can make him know what he doesn't know?
24:52It's 41.
24:5341, OK, good, that's good.
24:54Next up, arm length.
24:56I think I've got quite short arms.
24:57No, you sit absolutely in an average length of arms.
25:01Average.
25:02Hello.
25:03And then outside legs, so I'm going to go from...
25:08Let's go from where the breeches will probably sit, which is there,
25:11and I'm going to go down to the knee, which is there,
25:13just to check that we can get the right length.
25:15Yeah.
25:15I'm really interested in the idea this is more than just sticking clothes on people.
25:19It's about creating characters.
25:22Exactly.
25:23And you can see I've got three quite different looks here that I've pulled out.
25:26Yeah.
25:26So this might be a good first option for you to try.
25:28It's kind of flamboyant aristocrat.
25:31I think you can pull that off.
25:32I don't think there's any flamboyant aristocrats from Glen Hammond,
25:35but there we are, I could be the first.
25:36You wait till you get it on, you might feel very differently.
25:39Yeah, we'll see.
25:40What else do I need to complete the aristocratic look?
25:43I love the thought that these were all arranged back then.
25:47Yeah, it was all about showing the shapely leg.
25:50Was it?
25:51Is that why?
25:52Yeah.
25:52You want to show off your calves?
25:53You want to show off your calves.
25:54And then this style of shirt was really common at the time,
25:58so it looks very baggy and voluminous compared to what we're used to.
26:02Yeah.
26:03You're building them sort of from the layers up, right?
26:05You build foundation.
26:06Foundations.
26:07Inside out.
26:08So everybody's wearing this stuff, and then it's like,
26:10OK, what are you going to go for?
26:13Time to suit up.
26:15You start with these stockings, which are essentially very long socks.
26:22Yeah, OK.
26:24Socks, shirt, trousers.
26:27Socks, shirt, trousers.
26:28OK, on it.
26:29I'll leave you to do that.
26:29Yes.
26:31Dressed up like someone who was living 200 years ago.
26:35I thought I'd lost a bit of weight recently.
26:38How are we doing?
26:39I'm enjoying the shirt.
26:40So far, so good.
26:41How is it feeling so far?
26:43The rugby socks are good.
26:45I'm digging them.
26:47I feel, I don't know, I'm ready to, I don't know, do something.
26:51This is a jazzy.
26:52I'm adding a waistcoat.
26:54A cravat around my neck.
26:56Some shoes.
26:59How's that feel in the fit?
27:00Yeah, it's a bit tight on your toes, but you know what?
27:03I'm fine.
27:03And some last-minute adjustments.
27:07I feel pretty good about it.
27:08How does it feel to you?
27:09I feel great.
27:10I feel a million dollars.
27:11Shall I get a mirror?
27:12I'm going to put on that.
27:12Absolutely.
27:13It is good.
27:13Oh, wow.
27:17My calves aren't especially shapely, but I do like this.
27:22Yeah, I do feel like I'm standing taller.
27:25I'll give you a wig and a bit of make-up.
27:28I feel like a new man really sucks you in.
27:33Right, off on the pub, is it?
27:40In the next episode of Doctor Who.
27:55Doctor on the bridge.
28:00Give me the lovey!
28:03Drop deep!
28:10Drop deep!
28:18Yeah!
28:26Woooah!
28:28Woooah!
28:29Woooah!
28:30Woooah!
28:31Woooah!
28:33Woooah!
