00:00Greg Norman calls out PGA Tour stars who snubbed Live Golf.
00:05Greg Norman has always been more than a golf legend.
00:08He's been a force of nature, both admired and feared.
00:12Admired for his brilliance on the course,
00:14and feared for the audacity with which he challenged the establishment.
00:18Once dubbed the Great White Shark during his PGA Tour playing days
00:21for the way he stalked leaderboards with that iconic blonde mane and icy stare,
00:26Norman has since taken on a far more disruptive role and arguably one even more impactful.
00:32Live Golf wasn't a coup, it was a catalyst.
00:35Norman has stepped down as Live Golf's CEO,
00:38passing the role to Scott O'Neill and focusing on his golf design business
00:41and the 2032 Brisbane Olympics Committee.
00:45Yet his impact endures.
00:47Live Golf's rise, backed by Saudi Arabia's public investment fund,
00:50forced the PGA Tour to respond with a $1.5 billion equity deal,
00:55a $3 billion cash infusion, and PGA Tour Enterprises,
01:00showing Norman ignited a transformative shift in golf.
01:04From shark to architect of PGA Tour disruption,
01:07at the core of Norman's crusade was more than just gaining a seat at the table.
01:11He aimed to redesign the entire room.
01:15Frustrated that the game's greatest players had long been pawns of faceless institutions,
01:19he seized an opportunity.
01:21What Live did was bring private equity into our sport, Norman said.
01:25Noting that for the first time in over 50 years, outside money was invested in golf.
01:30This influx spurred change, innovation, entertainment, new team formats, concerts,
01:36hospitality experiences, and, most importantly, power redistributed back to the players.
01:42The Villain or the Live Golf Visionary
01:44Norman is aware of the controversy and rejects being labeled a villain,
01:48insisting,
01:49We were trying to work within the ecosystem.
01:52Competition is a wonderful thing.
01:55Whether viewed as a hostile takeover or a needed jolt,
01:58Live Golf has shifted the landscape,
02:00empowering players and shaking the traditional hierarchy.
02:03Though Norman no longer steers the Live Ship,
02:06it's sailing in the waters he charted,
02:08and his legacy is now defined by disruption,
02:11and the firestorm he sparked in the soul of professional golf.
