00:13The country is facing its most severe water shortage in nearly a century.
00:19The water crisis in Iraq has deepened and now affects the daily lives of citizens.
00:26Around 170,000 Iraqis have been displaced due to drought and climate conditions.
00:33This comes as a population of 46 million people shares these dwindling water resources.
00:40The agricultural sector alone consumes more than 80% of the water, forcing thousands of farmers to abandon agriculture altogether.
00:50And despite heavy rainfall and sudden floods this month, it has not been enough.
00:56And dams have not reached needed levels.
00:59Meanwhile, dam construction by upstream countries, including Turkey and Iran,
01:03is also cited as a major reason behind declining water supplies.
