00:00:00hey everybody danis letty here um as you can see it's christmas time yes i am a month behind in
00:00:15this episode but i have a couple reasons why one is because christmas secondly um you would not
00:00:22believe the trouble i had uploading the first episode because what i was going to do was i was
00:00:25going to split it up by each movie back to future one back to future two and three and then any bonus
00:00:30stuff um i'm even very tired that's how much editing i've been doing however um i had a lot
00:00:37of trouble because of universal blocking the clips i added for back to the future one so logic dictates
00:00:42that it would be also blocked for part two and part three so what i decided to do was um i would
00:00:49add some pictures in if we talked about a certain part and then hopefully the bonus stuff will go
00:00:55through but i wanted to make this little intro video just so in case you're wondering why there
00:00:59are not many clips this time well that is why so i hope you do enjoy our discussion mostly about back
00:01:07to the future and then stay tuned for our christmas episode it's going to be a it's going to be a good
00:01:11one it's going to be kind of like this um where we talk about stuff kind of like the slashers episode
00:01:16beforehand too so enjoy back to the future on as the real turn
00:01:20so

00:01:32Oh
00:02:02Oh
00:02:32And welcome once again to As The Real Turns, your place for all things movie and television.
00:02:38I am Daniel Saletti, and once again we have another great show for you lined up.
00:02:43We talked about a lot of movie franchises, and one of the most requested ones I've ever gotten
00:02:48was a little thing that started back in 1985, or as we will refer to now as 1985.
00:02:55It brought together two sitcom stars, actually, and said, we're going to make the greatest movie ever.
00:03:06And they made a good one, and it just went on from there.
00:03:10We're talking about the time-traveling antics of Back to the Future.
00:03:22Yes, Back to the Future.
00:03:24So, once again, it was a franchise started in 1985.
00:03:27It has produced a couple sequels, an animated show, rides, games, and more.
00:03:33And we've got a full house of fun people to talk about it with,
00:03:37including some new people who've never been on the show.
00:03:39So, we've got my friend Sonny, we've got my friend Joe, and we've got my friend Jesse.
00:03:45And a little bit of trivia, if you've ever seen the live streams or heard the original radio run of As The Real Turns,
00:03:52Jesse was on a couple episodes.
00:03:54So, welcome.
00:03:55Welcome, guys.
00:03:56Good to be back.
00:03:56Yes, welcome, guys.
00:03:57So, first of all, I've got to say, Jesse, thank you for the awesome outfit you're wearing.
00:04:03That's right.
00:04:04That's pretty cool.
00:04:05And I always try to bring some props with me.
00:04:09You know, I have my mini DeLorean here.
00:04:11I have my 40th anniversary book.
00:04:12But you brought something with you.
00:04:15You brought a Lego DeLorean that you built.
00:04:18So, what got you inspired for that?
00:04:24They made some little sets in the past.
00:04:26Yeah.
00:04:27But once this one came out, I mean, I've done a couple of these larger scale models.
00:04:32Yeah.
00:04:32It takes a lot of time.
00:04:34It's a lot of technical building.
00:04:36And I just love that stuff.
00:04:37So, as soon as I got, I actually got two of them.
00:04:39Ooh.
00:04:39One of them is still in the box.
00:04:41I'm going to save it for another 35 years or so.
00:04:46Oh, yeah.
00:04:46It was reasonably priced, too, unlike most Lego, right?
00:04:49Yeah.
00:04:49It's actually gone up since I first got it.
00:04:51Oh, really?
00:04:51Dang.
00:04:52Okay.
00:04:52That's an investment.
00:04:53Uh-huh.
00:04:54Absolutely.
00:04:55Well, I love that.
00:04:57And you put a lot of work into that.
00:04:58And you even have, like, little minifigures, too.
00:05:00So, that's super cool.
00:05:02So, let's jump right into it.
00:05:05We're going to kick things off right with the original movie.
00:05:08Um, back in 1995, uh, with a movie that, when you see it, it says, Steven Spielberg presents,
00:05:17not directed, but presents, um, a guy named Robert Zemeckis who directed it, um, the first
00:05:24movie, Back to the Future.
00:05:26And I think we have the trailer running here as well.
00:05:29There it is.
00:05:29Yes.
00:05:29This was a big property for Universal.
00:05:31And they really, um, they really went off, all for it, which was kind of cool.
00:05:35So, basically, if you are the one person out there who has not seen this movie, I mean,
00:05:41come on.
00:05:42Um, it's about, um, a teenager named Marty McFly, played by Michael J. Fox, who is best
00:05:49friends with this crazy scientist named Christopher Lloyd, uh, who plays a guy named, uh, Dr.
00:05:54M. L. Brown.
00:05:56Marty's kind of a reckless guy.
00:05:58Yeah, he, you know, he's a rebel at things, and, uh, he's also a slacker.
00:06:03Uh, he meets up, though, with Doc Brown, and they, and Doc Brown has this brand new invention
00:06:07to take people back in time.
00:06:10And so Marty gets in the car, and he goes back in time.
00:06:14Hence, he has, he must get back to the future before he is erased from history, and he also,
00:06:20oh yeah, has to get his parents to fall in love.
00:06:23His parents, of course, played by, uh, Crispin Glover, um, had blanked on his name there,
00:06:30and the lovely Leah Thompson.
00:06:33Always kind of liked her in this.
00:06:34So, Sonny, we'll start with you.
00:06:36As we watch the trailer here, it's kind of a crazy concept.
00:06:40This whole back to the future, have to get my parents fall in love, oh yeah, and not
00:06:45have my mother fall in love with me, ew.
00:06:47What do you think of this movie?
00:06:50I love this movie.
00:06:52I, I loved this movie ever since I was a kid.
00:06:55I was, um, unreasonably obsessed with Back to the Future.
00:06:59Um, so much so that, uh, I went as Marty for Halloween when I was like 10 years old.
00:07:04Nice.
00:07:04Um, I actually, I have more fond memories of Back to the Future Part II, because we had
00:07:08that on VHS.
00:07:09Okay.
00:07:10Um, uh, I had caught the first one on TV from time to time, and I had actually never
00:07:14seen the third one until, uh, from the same birthday, um, uh, that I, the same year I
00:07:20dressed up as Marty.
00:07:21My parents got me the Blu-ray for Back to the Future, which I think had just come out
00:07:25that year, so it probably cost a pretty penny for them.
00:07:27That's fair.
00:07:27But, um, uh, then I finally got to see it, and I just, I love this trilogy.
00:07:32I, I was really into time travel as a kid, and I think particularly Back to the Future Part
00:07:37II, which we'll get there.
00:07:38But I think it does some insane things that I would never have thought of, and it just
00:07:43really gripped me.
00:07:44That's fair.
00:07:45Uh, and Joe, you, you know, this is, this is 1985.
00:07:49You know, time travel was nothing new at this point, but this really proved a point with,
00:07:55with, with that type of genre.
00:07:57What, what did you think of Back to the Future?
00:08:00I have to agree.
00:08:02It was a great movie.
00:08:03I had a, I had a good time watching it.
00:08:06Um, in 85, I was too old for Halloween, so I didn't dress up as Marty.
00:08:11Um, not that I want to date myself.
00:08:13Oh, come on, come on.
00:08:14You know, um, but I will say, fantastic movie.
00:08:18Um, you know that, from past experience with me, that I like my sci-fi movies full of action
00:08:26and adventure.
00:08:27But what I found really great about this, and as I told you earlier, I did some trivia searching
00:08:33and come to find out, um, Universal, you said, went all out on this.
00:08:38Well, they took this and ran with it after 40 other, um, studios said no on the script.
00:08:44They were not going to touch it.
00:08:46Yeah.
00:08:46And they didn't.
00:08:47And Universal, whatever they did, I mean, they blew it right through the roof.
00:08:51I mean, it was just fantastic.
00:08:53I mean, and the choice of Michael J. Fox, I think, was fantastic, because what happened
00:08:58was they had tried Eric Stoltz in there originally, and that didn't go so well.
00:09:03They let him go after five weeks of filming.
00:09:06In fact, they re-shot everything that they did with him using Michael J. Fox.
00:09:10I have a fun fact about that.
00:09:11Yeah.
00:09:12Um, uh, the fellow who played Biff, what's his name?
00:09:15Oh, Tom F. Wilson.
00:09:16Tom F. Wilson.
00:09:18He says there's one shot of Eric Stoltz still in the film, something they never re-filmed.
00:09:22Yes, yes, I heard that.
00:09:25It is the, uh, the time Marty punches Biff.
00:09:28He claims they never re-filmed that with Michael J. Fox.
00:09:30And if you watch closely, you can actually see Marty does grow like six inches.
00:09:36Well, you know, yeah, you both, you both brought up good points.
00:09:39You know, this cast is amazing.
00:09:41You know, we have Leah Thompson, who, again, lovely in this movie, uh, and, and Crispin Glover.
00:09:46You know, Crispin Glover, uh, there's a whole bunch of stories about him, maybe kind of
00:09:51possibly a jerk, um, especially come the sequels.
00:09:56Um, but he still puts in a really good geeky, fun performance in this movie.
00:10:01He does a great job in that.
00:10:02Tom Wilson.
00:10:04I always say if, if you're playing the bully or a villain in a movie, you end up being the
00:10:09nicest guy to meet.
00:10:10He's such a nice guy.
00:10:11And, um, we, we, I brought him up before on past shows.
00:10:15If you ever go to YouTube and look up a guy named Adam the Woo, uh, Adam the Woo, I don't
00:10:20know how he has done it, but he's become basically best friends with Tom Wilson.
00:10:25And they're, they'll go on adventures together.
00:10:28And if, uh, Wilson's at a convention, he'll take Adam's camera, just like, what's up, everyone?
00:10:33I'm Adam the Woo.
00:10:35That's so funny.
00:10:36Just waiting on a friend to arrive.
00:10:38Just got to see if he's around.
00:10:39Oh, there you, there you are, Tom.
00:10:41Woo.
00:10:42And all you rays.
00:10:45You're going down.
00:10:47You're rooting for the angels?
00:10:49I have to.
00:10:50I live here.
00:10:51I have to go.
00:10:52We have to have a struggle.
00:10:53Okay, well, I used to root for the angels, but now I live in Florida, so I think it makes
00:10:57You turncoat, you, when, when did you buy the hat?
00:10:59Like 30 seconds after you moved in?
00:11:01Look at him.
00:11:02Look at him.
00:11:03Ooh, I'm moving back to Florida.
00:11:05Mom, Dad, I got a new hat.
00:11:07Okay, fine.
00:11:07We understand.
00:11:08We understand some of us are still, I don't know, does Gene Autry still on the team?
00:11:13I don't know a lot about the team.
00:11:14This is his road right here.
00:11:15Yeah, Gene Autry, the road I pulled in on.
00:11:17And his horse that he ride in on.
00:11:20What was his horse?
00:11:21What was Gene Autry's horse in it?
00:11:22It was, uh, Trigger.
00:11:24Ah, no!
00:11:25No, that's, um, Trigger, Trigger was the Lone Ranger.
00:11:29The Lone Ranger's horse.
00:11:30See, I've been listening to your audio book too much.
00:11:32So that's why it's still, no, uh, where you've been up front?
00:11:35Close to it, yeah.
00:11:36We're going to try to get there early.
00:11:37Oh, okay.
00:11:38I'll see you, Tom.
00:11:38Holy goodness.
00:11:40We will now return to talking to actual human beings.
00:11:46Dang, that's cold.
00:11:47That's cold.
00:11:48Stop this vlog.
00:11:49That's tough.
00:11:50The vlog is over.
00:11:52There it goes.
00:11:54Now you can't do the panel.
00:11:56Now you're done.
00:11:57I'm just going to end the video right now.
00:11:58Dang.
00:11:59That was good.
00:12:00See you, Tom.
00:12:01It's funny.
00:12:02I love that.
00:12:03But, Jesse, yeah, um, the two main stars of this, Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd.
00:12:09Michael J. Fox is in the middle of doing Family Ties, popular sitcom at the time.
00:12:15And, uh, Christopher Lloyd, pretty fresh off of Taxi, which was his sitcom.
00:12:22And then the year before, he did, uh, Star Trek III, where he played the main Klingon.
00:12:27I didn't know.
00:12:27Yeah, he was the main Klingon, Star Trek III.
00:12:29Yeah, he was.
00:12:30Um, it's called acting.
00:12:34You know, polar opposites of what any of those types of roles that they've played are.
00:12:38But what do you think of Back to the Future, the original?
00:12:41Well, growing up, there was about 12 VHS tapes at my house.
00:12:47Okay.
00:12:47And a quarter of them were Back to the Future Part I, Part II, and Part III.
00:12:51Uh, still to this day, my favorite movie series of all time on the topic of Michael J. Fox, um, in the middle of his Family Ties.
00:13:00So I understand it.
00:13:01He was still filming both of those at the same time.
00:13:03Yeah.
00:13:03He was filming long days.
00:13:05Absolutely.
00:13:06That's some, uh, serious dedication right there.
00:13:08I applaud him for that.
00:13:09He was only getting five hours of sleep in the dream.
00:13:10Yeah.
00:13:11No, they couldn't have picked a better guy for it.
00:13:13Oh, no.
00:13:13I heard in an interview, he would say, like, in the morning, he would just pass out at the end of shooting.
00:13:17And then in the mornings, they'd have a shower ready for him.
00:13:19They'd be like, get in there.
00:13:20Go.
00:13:20You gotta go right now.
00:13:23Yeah, and because it's Michael J. Fox, he would just, he would come to, if he were late to the set, he'd come to the set and say, I'm sorry.
00:13:29I'm so sorry.
00:13:31You get it, yeah.
00:13:32Um, but, you know, and, but not just the story.
00:13:35It's everything in the story and the cast.
00:13:37There's so many memorable things.
00:13:39I mean, the, the DeLorean itself, you know, okay, we know it's kind of a futuristic looking car to begin with.
00:13:46That was kind of the idea.
00:13:47But do you think they would have chosen any other car?
00:13:51You know, do you think, oh, well, we're going time travel.
00:13:53Maybe we should choose.
00:13:55A refrigerator.
00:13:55A refrigerator.
00:13:57I was going to mention that, but yeah, they were.
00:13:59Hear me out here.
00:14:00What if we built a big blue box?
00:14:05Just original.
00:14:06Original.
00:14:06Um, but no, it's like, you know, we're going back.
00:14:09They end up going to the fifties.
00:14:11What if like we had a 57 Chevy or something like that?
00:14:13I mean, I, is there, do you think they could have chosen another car?
00:14:17Not really.
00:14:20No.
00:14:20Um, I mean, they could have, but it wouldn't have, let's face it.
00:14:24Like you said, there's, that looks like a future right there.
00:14:28Right.
00:14:28I mean, so, um, you could have done what you wanted to do with the car, but it wouldn't
00:14:33have worked.
00:14:34That's fair.
00:14:35You know.
00:14:35The original idea was a refrigerator.
00:14:37Was it really?
00:14:38Oh, I thought you were joking.
00:14:39No.
00:14:39Oh.
00:14:40And, uh, this is the closest car at the time that looked like a refrigerator.
00:14:44Yeah.
00:14:44It was way past, not super far past DeLorean's little scandal thing they got going on.
00:14:49Yeah.
00:14:49Um, but it totally refined the dealership.
00:14:52Yeah.
00:14:52Or the, uh, automotive maker.
00:14:54They weren't great cars to begin with, really.
00:14:56No, they weren't.
00:14:57No, that's, that's kind of the joke that's been lost to time, is that the DeLorean was
00:15:00famously a not great car.
00:15:02Yeah.
00:15:03Yeah.
00:15:03You know, as a kid, I never understood why the car just shuts down when Marty needs it
00:15:07most at the end.
00:15:08It's just because the DeLorean is a crappy car.
00:15:11It shut down so many times.
00:15:13But no, and, and, and, you know, when he goes back to the 50s, all the, all those scenes
00:15:18where, you know, hiding the DeLorean, fitting in into the 50s.
00:15:22Give me, give me a tab.
00:15:23Tab?
00:15:24I can't give you a tab.
00:15:25Let's, you order something.
00:15:25Right, give me a Pepsi free.
00:15:28You want a Pepsi, pal?
00:15:29You're going to pay for it.
00:15:31Look, just give me something without any sugar in it, okay?
00:15:34Something without sugar.
00:15:43Hey, McFly.
00:15:44What do you think you're doing?
00:15:50The relationship he has with Lea Thompson, they worked off so well together.
00:15:57You know, I want to be in love, but it's wrong.
00:16:00You're my mother.
00:16:00And, and, and, uh, everything, everything in between, you know, uh, I think Christopher
00:16:06Lloyd does a good job playing his older self and his younger self, um, trying to understand
00:16:11what's going on, trying to get back to the future.
00:16:14Uh, you put in the lightning rod there.
00:16:17Um, that's a wonderful scene.
00:16:18I love, I love when he ends up going.
00:16:20And then, of course, the under the sea, the under the sea dance.
00:16:23That's one of my favorite scenes.
00:16:25And I swear, you know, I might have to just, at my wedding someday, I may have to just play
00:16:30Earth Angel just to, like, I don't care if she doesn't like it.
00:16:33I don't know who the musicians they got for that bit.
00:16:36Marvin Barry, man!
00:16:38It's Marvin Barry!
00:16:39But, uh, yeah, no.
00:16:41Oh, oh, oh, Earth Angel, Earth Angel, please be mine.
00:16:50My darling dear, love you for all time.
00:16:57I'm just a fool.
00:17:00I'm just a fool in love with you.
00:17:21But the session musicians they got for that, that version of Night Train they play, it's
00:17:27the version I listen to.
00:17:28It's so good.
00:17:29And, uh, I, they really, the music and, you know, the score, but also the soundtrack in
00:17:34the first movie, phenomenal.
00:17:36Well, you got, you got that, you got Night Train, you got Earth Angel, um, and then you
00:17:40have Huey Lewis and the News delivering Power of Love and Back in Time.
00:17:45Those are great hits right there.
00:17:46Music is a root part of the entire series.
00:17:49It is.
00:17:49Anything from the Darth Vader knockoff tape to, uh, changing this, the generation of popular
00:17:57music every, every time they went, uh, into a different time.
00:18:01Johnny B. Goode?
00:18:02Mm-hmm.
00:18:19So take me away, I don't mind.
00:18:36But you better promise me, I'll be back in time.
00:18:40I gotta get back in time.
00:18:46Mr. San, can we just acknowledge the fact, though, it's like, your kids are going to love it.
00:19:13but no it's it's it's so good and um the ending you know okay on this show we're not afraid of
00:19:22spoilers uh the ending you you see in the beginning of the film life with the mcflies is not fantastic
00:19:29um uh leah thompson she's a smoker um crispin glover george mcfly uh he's down on his luck
00:19:38biff is still a jerk um but when everything's changed and marty has them fall in love with the
00:19:45dance uh the future is better george is an up-and-coming author um lorraine mcfly she looks
00:19:53great and biff is still a slight jerk but he's like uh don't hurt me please yeah that's that's
00:20:02the best i can say what do we think about the ending though um this is 1985 the sequel didn't
00:20:08come out until 1989 the way the the way it's um presented doc comes back from wherever he was
00:20:18and he he says to marty and his girlfriend he says you gotta come back with me yeah it's your kids
00:20:25marty um do it so well thank you thank you uh it's he's fun he's fun um they all cram into the delorean
00:20:34and uh doc says we're going we don't need roads because oh we gotta back up did you think that
00:20:41they had the implication of doing a sequel at the time because i would be mad at that ending if we
00:20:47never got the sequel because i'd be saying well that's a heck of a cliffhanger there guys um did
00:20:54you think they had the idea of doing a sequel or do you think they might they wanted to do a cliffhanger
00:20:59maybe from what i understand and i could be wrong i believe the intention was that the ending was
00:21:05just a joke i i think i i i could be wrong i believe i remember reading that but they didn't
00:21:11really intend to do a sequel and it was basically the studio was like hey this is doing gangbusters
00:21:18if you aren't writing the sequel we're gonna find someone who will and so they were like well
00:21:22i don't want that to happen that's fair that's fair there's also some of us i mean unless anyone
00:21:29else is any vats yeah uh i have to disagree yeah oh okay um the shots of back to the future part two
00:21:36yeah many of them are the same exact dance they are you see marty number two like up on the catwalk
00:21:43and stuff like that and i was wondering did they shoot all this at the same time they like they had
00:21:49a sequel in mind and instead of resetting finding all the actors for the dance make it as uh getting
00:21:55as much continuity as possible yeah did they shoot some of those scenes for part two at the same time
00:22:01and sometimes they will because they're planning ahead um that way they don't have to go back and
00:22:06try to pull everything together like you said they've already got it so let's go for it and that
00:22:11may have been what they had i i wish i looked it up before time but that must have been it because
00:22:15yeah that'd be crazy well i know doing all those scenes all over again yeah and i know i know that
00:22:20in like um the first two christopher reeve superman films you know we just got done talking about
00:22:24superman right um the number one and number two were shot pretty much parallel until number two got
00:22:33taken over um but and i know for back to the future parts two and three were shot simultaneously
00:22:40but yeah no that brings up an interesting point because i don't know if they could have if they
00:22:46would have shot all those scenes or maybe they just had him spare on the universal backlot i don't know
00:22:51um i know one thing is that it's really cool you still can go on the universal hollywood studios backlot
00:22:57tour and if you're lucky you will get a ride through hill valley and you will get to you know go around
00:23:04the go see the courthouse and uh which again the courthouse scene very famous ties into the ending
00:23:10um yeah but you go around the courthouse you go around the square it's loads of fun
00:23:15and i would love to do that sometime that'd be super duper fun but no anyway um again thank you
00:23:20guys for coming on the show um it has been awesome talking back to the future thanks magic and tech team
00:23:26love you too um kidding kidding anyway um until next time uh my name is daniel saletti this has
00:23:36been as the real turns we will see you next time that is a wrap um yeah but you go around the courthouse
00:23:42go around the square it's loads of fun and i would love to do that sometime that'd be super duper fun
00:23:47but no like we've all said yeah back to the future it was a mega thing everybody loved it it was big it
00:23:53was fun it rejuvenated well not rejuvenated but added on to careers of the main two stars
00:24:00back to the future part two this is a thing i realize um kind of in this era of movies um my
00:24:09other big example is the karate kid uh they always like go ahead and not say like the karate kid too
00:24:14it's always the karate kid part two back to the future part two all that stuff so it's kind of funny
00:24:23what you were saying there jesse they didn't even take any time they just showed you the same
00:24:26footage from the first movie great you know what we're about yeah exactly first change is you'll if
00:24:32you know the movie um they did reshoot a lot of things right off the bat and we'll get into more of
00:24:40that um later but in the sequel um we go not to the past we're not in 1955 anymore we're in 2015
00:24:48and everybody thought oh my gosh we're gonna have flying cars and hoverboards and whatever it's
00:24:58like yeah and we did keep telling yourself that buddy anyway um marty's in 2015 now because something's
00:25:06wrong with his kids because he and his girlfriend got married um and what happens here is that the
00:25:14problem gets solved however there's more problems involved because an older biff gets his hands on
00:25:21this sports almanac which means he can predict every winner of every sports game till the end of till
00:25:292015 uh and he becomes a rich guy and so it's up to doc and marty to save the day and biff changed time
00:25:36and it's it's honestly you get a little confusing in this one just a little just a little but that's time
00:25:43travel um so uh we'll go reverse order this time so jesse um what are your thoughts here on
00:25:50back to the future part two oh my hello leah thompson sorry they uh got one thing right for 2015
00:25:59what's that and that is um home security systems i mean technically with your thumbprint but okay
00:26:05smart locks and uh other stuff you don't have hydrators or anything like that maybe there's
00:26:09something like that we got air fryers we got air fryers 2015 was a decade ago um so it's okay it's
00:26:17kind of a mush for me about what we actually have had in the past 10 years as opposed to what was
00:26:23actually in 2015 uh that's uh i think the biggest source of fan wiki uh for the back to the future
00:26:32series was from part two there's so many not plot holes but it's not so many questions like you said
00:26:37it's confusing it's confusing it's very confusing because um you had mentioned that yeah they they
00:26:42they go back even to the first movie all the events of the first movie and um this is like uh this is
00:26:50like some forrest gump type of filming here i mean it's it's robert zemeckis the same guy but uh the
00:26:57placement of you know where you know oh there's a marty here though there's a marty here that's really
00:27:02good placement i really like that and it's really well done but yeah no the the future is not the
00:27:11future it was you know i don't know if they were just thinking oh well here we are in 1989 by then
00:27:17we'll have it sure um the flying cars the hoverboards makes great movie but not so much good reality um i
00:27:28think i think i can get it in here uh one of the if you haven't found this book this is going to be a
00:27:33poor sponsorship here if you haven't found this book get this book if you're back to the future fan
00:27:37because it has a lot of details about the entire trilogy bonus stuff and then even more bonus stuff
00:27:45because they got like um uh what do we got here uh if i can get it out maybe not well we got the usa
00:27:51today article how cool is that by the way such a genius way to confirm that something has changed in
00:27:58the future to bring a newspaper back in time yes i love that um so that's that's a good uh little
00:28:05bonus thing and then we got uh we have the poster to jaws 19 this what do we get up to by 2015 like
00:28:13four at least four yeah jaws what every reboot that's being made nowadays where's some jaws reboot
00:28:20not asking for it but uh but joe um with all that being said what are your thoughts here on on
00:28:26back to the future part two um actually you know i'm not a big fan of sequels but i do with this one
00:28:35i have to say i enjoyed this one because in the in the case of the writing actually is what got me i
00:28:44didn't really catch on to the things that we have now that they said we were going to have
00:28:50i enjoyed the part where he was trying to scoot around trying to fix things there without screwing
00:28:57up what he was fixing in the first place okay okay okay i love the writing where he's he ducking
00:29:02behind whatever because it's like oh i'm over there i can't be there but i've got to be over here because
00:29:08i've got to get around to do whatever right i mean i i enjoyed the writing and i enjoyed the way they
00:29:13set all that up because although it was confusing it was totally fun to watch while he's trying to
00:29:20avoid himself is is the fun part of the whole thing for me um so um i found it entertaining i'm not
00:29:29going to say it was great but i found it entertaining all the way through that's a fair point and you
00:29:32know you got to give credit to a lot to all the actors in this because not only did they in the first
00:29:37one have to play you know like a modern day version of themselves and then a 50s version but then
00:29:42they have to you know play now in this older version younger version back to older back to
00:29:48younger it's it was all over the place and sunny i mean there are some good scenes in this i mean
00:29:54there's a great scene where um there's a chase scene in a long tunnel um that is the same tunnel in
00:30:00who framed roger rabbit it's the entrance to toontown um and uh we we know that marty goes to the new
00:30:091985 and the biff hotel is there and oh my god no what are your thoughts here on back to the future
00:30:16part two i am actually glad you specifically prefaced my question with that because i've
00:30:21been waiting to talk about this the whole time and how doc brown is a hypocrite oh he's a hypocrite
00:30:26yes okay so we all know in back to the future part two biff steals the sports all in the net goes
00:30:31back in time and creates like this fifth empire for 1985 right and doc pulls out the chalkboard he
00:30:36draws the lines on the chalkboard he says this was prime 1985 biff did this in 1955 and it split here
00:30:43what he doesn't talk about is how they created an alternate 1985 but it was to the benefit of marty so
00:30:50he did not care so he's like this is the prime 1985 no it isn't because that wasn't marty's life
00:30:57and then this is also leads me to the question nice biff says you're supposed to be in switzerland
00:31:02implying that right now there are two marty's existing right so what happened to the marty of
00:31:07the alternate 1985 that the prime marty then came into did he cease to exist is that what happened to
00:31:13the marty in switzerland did he get killed i need to know nice never caught that
00:31:21very confusing yeah indeed indeed no i don't have an answer for that yeah so bob zemeckis if you're
00:31:31watching this you need to let me know i've been waiting years for this you too gail
00:31:39well and honestly while we're on the topic of the alternate 1985 if i may um uh we hear that george
00:31:50mcfly got killed in this reality and that was done to excuse crispin glover having a falling out with
00:31:57the uh producers and he didn't want to come back and i i honestly think maybe the franchise is at a
00:32:04detriment with the lack of crispin glover coming back because i think he was really kind of the
00:32:09heart and soul of the first film like that film wouldn't work without crispin glover playing it the
00:32:15way that he does and you know they get a guy that he's in there for like two minutes it's it's a whole
00:32:19thing but i i kind of wish i mean it would have been really interesting if maybe marty's son looks
00:32:24exactly like his dad is crispin glover playing marty's son instead which by the way michael j fox doing
00:32:29dual roles as his son and his daughter he makes a beautiful one oh yes so let me yeah i'm glad you
00:32:35brought that up so that that whole scene when they're at the house um is one of my favorite
00:32:41scenes uh you know whenever it's kind of funny whenever we're having like pizza night or anything
00:32:46like that it's like oh must be time to get the hydrator out um but yeah no it's uh
00:32:53i lost my train of thought oh um so yes marty uh michael j fox playing the father the son and the
00:33:05daughter i don't know whose idea that was but it was great because you're right it's pretty convincing
00:33:12i didn't know it was him um and yeah no the guy who plays marty's father actual marty's father
00:33:23um not crispin glover but he's not awful and i know crispin glover got a little mad i think at
00:33:32the fact that like oh my gosh is that good because you know you turn the guy upside down it's like oh
00:33:38you sound like me you did the makeup like me why didn't you just get me um but it's like hey if he
00:33:47was being a jerk you know that's sometimes how you got to deal with it you know you get well we can't
00:33:51write him out and there's no we've written him out as much as we can so that's that uh the other
00:33:57thing is is that um the girlfriend did change i mentioned the opening i want to touch on that
00:34:03the opening was completely almost reshot and i blame one person one person only a little lady named
00:34:14jennifer wells jennifer wells who played or no not claudia claudia wells claudia wells claudia
00:34:20wells she played the girlfriend named jennifer uh in the first movie she was taking a break from
00:34:25acting by the time the sequel came out i believe to take care of her mother does that sound take care
00:34:31of her mother or take care of her own kid something family related yeah um and she was replaced
00:34:38by the ever lovely and people who've seen the show know when i say that it means they're on my
00:34:45list yes of crushes elizabeth shoe i love elizabeth shoe but did they have to do a reshoot i mean
00:34:56and and so they had every shot that's with the girlfriend they had to reshoot with elizabeth shoe
00:35:01so the so the so here comes the question which one's better elizabeth shoe or claudia wells
00:35:08it's tough to say because jennifer you know by design of the plot doesn't get a lot to do in
00:35:14the first film and she definitely gets more screen time still she doesn't have a lot to do in the
00:35:19second one but i do think that elizabeth shoe kind of portrays that fish out of water going through
00:35:27all this while the main characters know what's going on perfectly um i do wish she got more to
00:35:32do i think jennifer could be a fantastic character if she was brought on brought along but i know
00:35:37the writers said that if they could have changed something about the first film they never would
00:35:41have had jennifer get in that delorean um my favorite thing about the reshoots real quick is that
00:35:47there's a difference uh in delivery between the first film and the second film yes when marty asks
00:35:52what do we become assholes or something doc takes like a two second break in the sequel it's like
00:35:58he's thinking about it he's like do they be how do i feel oh no no no oh no no no you you you and
00:36:03jennifer turned out fine as your kids but yeah no um hey elizabeth shoe she has a this means she has
00:36:11two big franchises under her belt because she was in the first karate kid as well and now she's in this
00:36:17so i mean go go figure on that but yeah no it's it is confusing at times but it's not an awful movie
00:36:26by any means it's a good follow-up it's still fun it's still time travel it's still it's everyone
00:36:34except crispin glover and claudia wells uh and uh yeah it's it's i feel like it does suffer from
00:36:43middle child syndrome sometimes um you know star trek fans know this with star trek three it gets
00:36:49the middle child syndrome um but that's what that's what happens with the trilogy sometimes
00:36:55regardless though um the following year 1990 now when you when you say back to the future many people
00:37:03will associate with the 80s well they didn't make them that fast so i guess we had to get one in the
00:37:0990s um right right at the uh start of the 90s 1990 itself uh we got our final chapter in the back to
00:37:17the future movie trilogy that being back to the future part three all right here comes the ultimate
00:37:24question how many first of all how many times am i going to bring this up in this show you if people
00:37:31know me as a star trek fan i will say to them if they ask me daniel what's your favorite western tv show
00:37:38i will say star trek it was wagon train to the stars end of end of discussion when they say to
00:37:46me daniel what's your favorite western movie i present to you back to the future part three
00:37:52so what happened in back to the future part two doc mistakenly got sent back to 1885 because he always
00:38:01had an affection for the west and marty wanted to bring doc back so marty goes on decides on himself
00:38:14to go back to 55 get find the younger doc and say you got to send me to 19 1885 okay so he does
00:38:25and marty gets back there and we find out that doc is enjoying the west however there's one little
00:38:31trouble there's still a biff around it is the ancestor of biff bulldog tannin bad dog thank you
00:38:41thank you mad dog i have another thing to correct in a moment but i'll let you finish um and so what
00:38:46marty and doc have to do is they have marty's kind of convincing doc to go back to back to the future
00:38:52however doc has fallen in love with the lovely mary steam virgin uh that being uh clara who's yeah
00:39:00mary steam virgin so it becomes a big western movie to get them back to the future and you know oh maybe
00:39:07get clara to tag along too all right joe we'll start with you this for me i love this movie but it's so
00:39:15funny because this seems like such an odd ball out of the first two because you know at least the first
00:39:21two had time travel elements we had some back and forth we had connections to the first one this
00:39:27one it's just like oh we're going full western and we don't care what are your thoughts here in back
00:39:33the future part three uh i didn't enjoy it as much as you did really i well i yeah
00:39:47i um i i just the whole concept just kind of was hard for me to swallow i'm sorry i mean i just
00:39:57this one suffered from the third the third one yeah from that syndrome because i just looked at it
00:40:06and i unfortunately have my father to thank for this because this was just so unrealistic even for
00:40:14a sci-fi movie i couldn't stomach it i really just couldn't do it western yeah it wasn't a western
00:40:20i'm sorry no it's just i mean i got a laugh out of the fact that when marty went back he named
00:40:27himself clint eastwood that was funny i got a kick out of that very true um but i other than that i i
00:40:35just i mean the whole locomotive doing the time travel thing that just i couldn't buy into it because
00:40:42i was talking with somebody earlier before the show and i told him i said locomotives of that time
00:40:49were not designed to go that kind of speed they just uh even in a sci-fi movie i can't see how you
00:40:56can legitimately even in sci-fi make that leap i i just i i couldn't i couldn't pull it together in
00:41:05my head i really couldn't i mean i i had nothing against the movie other than it just it just wasn't
00:41:12i it wasn't plausible to me that's fair i mean you know there were there there like i said i feel
00:41:19like this is a kind of an awbell type of a movie because there are elements of this that you don't
00:41:24see i mean it's so stripped back because they're in the west yeah and um i i do like the scene you
00:41:32where marty does get back to the west and he's driving the delorean indians there's a bit right
00:41:39before that where and he's about to go in and he goes doc if i go here if i drive forward won't i
00:41:44hit the indians and doc's like the wall's not gonna be there marty this is your third movie you should
00:41:48know how this works right um it is also kind of funny you brought up the clint eastwood thing uh he
00:41:55went from calvin klein to clint eastwood well yeah you know he's such a dream um but no uh
00:42:02yeah uh i understand your point because it does it is far-fetched you know like oh we're gonna make
00:42:10the train go super fast with this colored smoke and we're gonna push the delorean to the past the
00:42:15point of no return and hey you know marty's the the hot guy on campus there but no no no no doc is
00:42:23the love interest now yeah so jesse with all that in mind what are your thoughts here on back to
00:42:28future part three uh it was great overall my biggest thing is the potential triple generational
00:42:35incest that was going on
00:42:36great great grandmother dad's side yeah i was some freak genetic yeah if you didn't bring this up i was
00:42:47going it comes down to the story movies aren't real uh most of the time this is reality forget
00:42:55about it we gotta make the storyline work yeah go wake up mom is that you yeah of course but she got
00:43:01a little accent this time yes yeah they got the irish brogues getting rid of uh glover that just
00:43:06completely different actor playing his great great grandfather which you know um well it's it's uh
00:43:10uh it's it's it's fox himself isn't it it is yeah yeah okay yeah i mean you caught me off guard with
00:43:18the whole daughter thing too him playing that i didn't you didn't know that really oh yeah no
00:43:22that uh if you look at it it's like oh my gosh it is a man playing a woman okay i'll look closer
00:43:30yeah look closer but no yeah you're absolutely right they gotta get the blu-ray for that the hd
00:43:34the hd they do they you know it's an irish name mcfly come on uh so i that's kind of a fun thing and
00:43:44you bring the irish people a lot of fun accent work in this oh yeah um but yeah uh sunny i there are
00:43:51some fun bits in this i like uh there's a bit where they're at like a little mini fair and uh marty
00:43:57accidentally invents the uh the frisbee oh yeah that's funny that's that really funny line where he
00:44:03goes huh frisbee and then his grandfather just goes what was that about he's accidentally invented
00:44:10a bunch of things he invented the skateboard in 55 there so uh but what are your thoughts here on
00:44:15back to future part three um it's uh it's a what well i want to say to quickly correct your intro okay
00:44:22um uh the cliffhanger of the second one the delorean gets struck by lightning and it's jones
00:44:28that's true and you and strands marty in 1955 as well you're right he does he runs and that and that
00:44:34ending where you know doc celebrates he sent marty of the future and marty shows up again he goes i'm
00:44:38back i'm back from blew my kid mind you're right so crazy i have a list i just watched this yesterday
00:44:45okay i have a list of some miscellaneous notes okay um uh there's the paternal grandfather thing
00:44:52um uh oh i really like i really liked i'm sorry go ahead it's it's done with like no reverence it's
00:45:04really quick but uh right before marty goes back to the past that should be a movie right before he
00:45:09goes back to the past they do a little influx of the tagline of the second film and doc goes where
00:45:13you're going there are no roads i thought that was really that's good yeah that's good um i love this
00:45:19movie i think more i think more films should just switch up the genre in the third movie honestly
00:45:25keep things fresh keep us on our toes i love how in a way marty has to be more mature than doc in this
00:45:30movie fair kind of switching up how their their dynamic it's it's a lot of fun you can tell they
00:45:36were kind of playing around with things oh yeah fun with it um i will say that uh kind of kind of a
00:45:41sad note in this uh was that you know this was the last this was the last in the trilogy this would
00:45:47be the last time he would play marty mcfly in a big school movie um and this uh there have been
00:45:54articles and reports put out of like this was like one of the times that michael j fox was actually
00:46:00starting to feel the symptoms of his parkinson's disease i did not know that yeah so uh you got to
00:46:07give the man credit for that and for oh my gosh he's still with us he's still with us so uh more power to
00:46:12legend um but yeah no i um i like this movie uh i what do we think of the love interest you know doc
00:46:22has has clara now and she does eventually get back with them because marty is sent back um we think
00:46:31doc is going to go off into the sunset but oh no he's turned the train into a time machine and
00:46:39destroyed the delorean uh what do we think about the love and then the comeback there i love clara
00:46:46as a character i think it's really fun to give doc someone uh especially because they wrote jennifer
00:46:52out which is crazy she's swinging on a porch for the entire movie i thought about that too she's like
00:46:57okay i'm just gonna leave you here um but clara is such a great character portrayed beautifully i love
00:47:03by the way that there are two different time travel companions named clara in different uh medias
00:47:08oh good point good uh uh i i i fell in love with mary steenberg and wow she's great when i first
00:47:14watched this and i just i don't i forgot where i was going with this someone else take it away
00:47:19i will just to go with what he what he was just saying um that part of the story um i was able to go
00:47:30i thought that was a great i thought that was a great addition to it at least so and you know mary
00:47:36steenberg is a fantastic actress she's great sure so and to put doc together with somebody that was
00:47:41great so um overall that part of it was okay um the train thing still you know the train
00:47:49well i remembered sorry god yeah no go ahead i remembered where i was going with that really
00:47:54really quickly yeah back in the day when i was in like elementary school the back to the future
00:47:58website had like a thing about like is like any questions and i'm sure it was mostly about like
00:48:02hey where's my order for the marty mcfly 2015 hat but i was in there in elementary school asking
00:48:08questions about the movie franchise and some poor guy had to respond to each one of them i remember
00:48:14specifically i typed in if doc brown had to spend 30 years trying to get create the flux capacitor how
00:48:22was he able to just invent one in 1885 and then this poor guy was so sick of me he types that one
00:48:29and he goes modern technology of the era zen i remember reading that thinking that doesn't answer
00:48:36my question at all any any thoughts jesse on the on the relationship with the train when i was about
00:48:42to re-watch part three yesterday um i i knew i remember the part where doc and claire clayton uh
00:48:48just stay in the past right okay cool whatever but going back to doc being a hypocrite they create two
00:48:55kids that's that's right generations of people that never existed on the prime timeline if it was
00:49:00just sim and claire just retire out whatever no kids then okay but uh two more kids who knows where
00:49:06they are in 1985 well um or their family their ancestors um that's something that the very end of
00:49:13the movie i was like oh i actually did it and we cannot forget about einstein either
00:49:18einstein's around yeah he's he's around um well i'm so glad you brought up those kids because
00:49:24we will touch upon those kids um okay not what i meant
00:49:28oh there there there's our there's our one racy joke of the of the show yeah yeah i see you laughing
00:49:36in their magic and technique yeah laugh it up accent in the first
00:49:39anyway moving on um yeah back to the future part three it is kind of the outlier of the toll trilogy but
00:49:48it's still a good one it's nice to get a bit of a of a of a difference between it and let me tell
00:49:54you something if you can't if you can't get a horse you just have the western theme from back to the
00:50:01future playing if you're on a bike somewhere you are gonna love it i've done it before it's so much
00:50:06fun um anyway and it's it's great music alan silvestri throughout the whole trilogy delivering
00:50:11some great music also uh zz top in this one zz top great great performance with them on the drums
00:50:18great song catchy very that was a nice touch that was a good time yeah so this was the end of back
00:50:28to the future it was like okay we got some three good movies we're not even gonna try to do like a
00:50:33fourth comeback or anything nope nope we're good okay well again another trope during this time was
00:50:39well we want more said the kids and they would give you a said kids show uh so thus i believe it was on
00:50:52cbs saturday mornings we got back to the future the series pay close attention to this intro you're
00:51:00gonna love it all right so suffice to say this did not last long i think i might may want to say like
00:51:06max two seasons first problem where did the delorean come from last time i checked it got destroyed
00:51:12um this basically just follows the antics and adventures of doc and marty and clara and their kids
00:51:19jules and verne oh yeah einstein's in there too and they go back to different times and forward to
00:51:26different times to track down and destroy a bunch of different tannin relatives okay
00:51:33yeah that's about it this is just watching this i'm i'm i'm so confused uh for the theme song they
00:51:43used um back in time the huey lewis song so that's a good touch and i believe um christopher
00:51:51lloyd did come back in some live action segments to play doc brown so that was kind of fun uh doc
00:51:56brown however voiced in this is the same guy who voiced um homer simpson oh dan castlaneta yeah
00:52:02so do you have uh the fun fact about who got their start on that show i would love to know so you know
00:52:09it was kids edutainment so they had they had to ration it out with you know divvy up some time to
00:52:15teach some things sure and the way they had that was a very young pre his own show bill nye doing
00:52:23science experiments really this is true yeah really i did not know that okay maybe even pre bow tie
00:52:29pre bow tie oh whoa well well go ahead and continue sunny what are your thoughts here just
00:52:36back to the future of the series first of all did we need this and just judging from that intro
00:52:42and the description is it something you'd watch well it's funny you asked me that because like i
00:52:48said i was a nine ten year old who was obsessed with back to the future my brother probably through
00:52:55illegal means at the time once got me some episodes of the cartoon because i was asking about it and i
00:53:02sat down and i watched them and i thought yeah i don't need this
00:53:06i yeah no i'm with you kind of on that at least because it's for me it's just i want more
00:53:15adventures but this seems not real it's a monkey paw curling isn't it it's not exactly how i wanted it
00:53:22yeah and i mean jesse it's there are so many plot holes there it's like where's the delorean again and
00:53:29einstein can drive the train and yeah huh oh i'm gonna say it outright i did not know this existed
00:53:39until now um as uh as you asked at the end of the the series we all know and love yeah i think that
00:53:48was a great ending would i like to see him go back in time see what their interpretations i don't know
00:53:53prehistoric era you know maybe the rise of christianity or the overthrowing of rome um it
00:54:01looks like they might touch base on some of that stuff in that show i'm definitely going to check it
00:54:05out but i'm not expecting my hopes are not high no don't don't get any hopes high and i mean joe
00:54:12this is there there are there are possibilities you know they could go to more things and it's
00:54:18animation uh you know they have a little bit more free range of what they can do uh but what do you
00:54:25think here you know i love my animation i do there's no doubt but um just going by the intro
00:54:34the only thing i can say is i got no desire whatsoever i really don't so if any of you check
00:54:43it out and get back to me tell me if it's worth my time i'm thinking not we will
00:54:48we will do that yes um but yeah no this i it was it was there um like i said i think it max lasted
00:54:57a couple seasons cbs saturday mornings its popularity ranked or peaked when it got a happy
00:55:05meal that's what i can tell you that's big news there you go um so it was it was kind of there but
00:55:12i mean yeah check it out if you want to it's not great it's not the trilogy but it's there
00:55:18um after that there was really no big thing for back to the future on screen per se
00:55:26many things came out of back to the future uh universal like we said really hyped on the thing
00:55:35for years they had a ride at their theme parks universe uh back to the future the ride
00:55:42where basically um christopher lloyd came back as doc brown he sits you in the delorean and you are
00:55:49going around hill valley you're having a great time and then oh no tom wilson comes back as biff and
00:55:54he hijacks your delorean and he takes you through dinosaurs and the future and the um it's a motion
00:56:03simulator but it's a fun motion simulator uh unfortunately it is not around anymore would you
00:56:09guys have ridden that uh if if it were still around when did it uh get discontinued oh early
00:56:162000s mid 2000s right so i would have been there while it was still there i saw one of the deloreans
00:56:21there i've also seen a car fortunately um at the peterson auto museum in california but
00:56:27having a ride oof yeah uh i'd do it yeah i mean yeah i'd probably check it out it sounds like it ties
00:56:35in with the anime show i was a little bit how it sounds it sounds like it's in that like it's in
00:56:40that canon you know i dreamed about this ride as a kid the blu-ray i've been harping on about it
00:56:45actually there's a bonus disc and on that bonus disc you can see like the full ride oh that's cool
00:56:50i remember i i grabbed like an office chair that we had at the time that would like bring it i grabbed
00:56:55the broom to put it in between and i put that on as a kid and i would like pretend i was doing it
00:57:00nice and um uh like you said it's not around anymore i don't know if this ride is still around but
00:57:04in its place was the simpsons ride yes universal yeah i remember i went to universal as a kid and
00:57:10i rode that and the entire time i was thinking it's almost like i'm riding the back to the future
00:57:14ride a little bit um uh also that same trip there was a restaurant it's no longer there because i
00:57:21looked this up before coming on here there was a restaurant called doc brown's fried chicken
00:57:26and um uh it was a chicken place in universal studios and it had like different photos of like doc
00:57:32in front of historical landmarks and um uh again back to my hypocrite doc brown theory because now
00:57:37he's profiting well my question is like where you've got to do something for the kids right
00:57:44yeah yeah you know i mean the kids are going to have an inheritance come on future school
00:57:49well where where where does fried chicken ever come into play in back to the future that's my
00:57:56question one sponsor well you know he doesn't talk about jewels very sponsor they didn't get yeah
00:58:00well probably in the west that you were talking about i mean yeah you know i mean it had to come
00:58:05from somewhere you know they did a lot of barbecue outdoor and yeah that's about it yeah he talks
00:58:11about jewels learn to the third one he also just never mentions his family fried chicken recipe
00:58:15i'm so confused well it all began there so i mean you know um but that's that's just that uh and um
00:58:25despite despite despite them not making like official films or anything the cast has come back
00:58:32a couple of times to do things like there was a video game put out that many may consider to be
00:58:39back to the future for um it was a it was a video game um that went back i think to like to the 19
00:58:46teens where we see a teenage uh doc brown and marty goes back there and they have to figure out
00:58:52something but uh christopher lloyd came back for that i think claudia wells came back wow where have
00:58:59you been uh to play jennifer i don't know if any other cast members came back for that uh thomas
00:59:05wilson initially did not come back however they put out a remaster of that game for the movie's 40th
00:59:12anniversary and he came back for that so they redubbed whoever originally voiced biff with
00:59:17um uh thomas wilson coming back okay um fantastic game it takes place in 1986 a year after the events
00:59:24of the first the trilogy that's their present time yeah yeah that would be their present it really i
00:59:31think calling it back to the future part four it's definitely different than the film but you could
00:59:35definitely get away with that it really goes some crazy directions it's actually about uh marty traveling
00:59:41back to 1935 and yes 35 yeah doc has disappeared for several months and the delorean comes back
00:59:49mysteriously and there's a tape from doc he says i'm in 1935 if you're hearing this the delorean came
00:59:55back without me and you need to come and find me and he has to help he has to get the help of a
01:00:00teenage doc brown to break himself out while also trying to avoid his great grandfather arthur mcfly
01:00:07or his regular grandfather rather okay and it it really it takes some twists and turns at one
01:00:13point they enter a weird 1985 where doc is like the mayor of hill valley and he's hooked up with uh a
01:00:20relative of mr strickland and she's made him into like this crazy dictator world where like you get
01:00:27demerits and you're not allowed to drink alcohol and this and that yeah it's crazy uh check it out if
01:00:34you can it's like delisted now but you know there are methods of course there are uh mr back to future
01:00:41fan down there why did you play have you played that game i have not uh is is part of it where
01:00:48they go back in time to stop colonel sanders from stealing dog yeah yeah yeah yes it is um but no so that
01:01:00that was kind of a big thing i i yeah it's kind of like um for for james bond um people see uh
01:01:07everything or nothing as pierce brosnan's fifth james bond movie because he came back it's a big star
01:01:12cast for that game so it's it's i i can kind of see how some would call this back to future four
01:01:19um there have been a few television appearances with some of the cast coming back um love him or hate
01:01:27him on jimmy kimmel there was a big deal one time where the delorean came out and i think it was
01:01:332015 2015 yeah it was for the anniversary yeah they did a couple things but yeah fox and lloyd come out
01:01:39and uh um they do they do a whole skit you know it's like well here we are 1985 yeah doc i don't this
01:01:48doesn't look like this doesn't look like the 1985 that we're used to the the 2015 that we're used to
01:01:53oh yeah about that or something like that so you haven't invented flying cars yet no we have not
01:02:04yeah you at least have hoverboards they call them hoverboards but they're not really hoverboards
01:02:10yeah are the cubs in the playoffs yeah they actually are the cubs are in the playoffs unless
01:02:19they got eliminated uh and i love i really love that about the cast is that they love to come back
01:02:25for this yeah like popping back to the game for a second michael j fox does not reprise his role um uh
01:02:31you know he's got a lot of health issues right now he didn't come they get a guy sounds just like him
01:02:36it's crazy he's done some other voice acting roles since then he's on like disney stuff now he's a
01:02:40great voice actor sounds just like him however they do really i'm going to make this really quick
01:02:46at the end of the game you beat the story everything has worked out spoiler alert how video games work
01:02:51but then another delorean comes out tricked out and it's a middle-aged marty mcfly and they got michael
01:02:57j fox to do this oh that's nice and then another delorean comes out it's a different middle-aged
01:03:03marty mcfly and a third one comes out and it's tardis blue uh and another michael j fox come out
01:03:09and they all start arguing about who has to go with who to fix what and then doc and marty of the
01:03:14prime timeline just go let's just leave that i like that i like um but yeah no so so it was nice that
01:03:22they did the anniversary thing there on on jimmy kimmel and i i will say uh i think he says to him
01:03:28yeah uh marty we're going to interview your friend uh michael j fox when we come back for a break
01:03:32teen wolf that's funny um weird movie christopher lloyd has done a lot he came back i think for
01:03:41like there were for the lego commercial for the delorean i think he did that um there was another
01:03:47some type of commercial where he crashed the delorean into a uh storage front of some sort i forget
01:03:53what that is um there was not a movie i would necessarily for me necessarily but um a seth
01:04:02mcfarlane movie a million ways to die in the west um there's a bit where uh mcfarlane opens up this barn
01:04:10excuse me oh yes what you got under the big tarp there oh nothing
01:04:26yes it's you know it's it's it's it's you know i think it's you know it's it's it's
01:04:56It's Back to Future 3, which is funny, because that's a nice little reference to that.
01:05:02This year is an anniversary year, having to be 2025.
01:05:06I'm waiting for more stuff to happen with it.
01:05:11We've got most of the cast still around, which is good.
01:05:14I think actually all the cast, even Mr. Strickland, I think, which is kind of cool.
01:05:20I like when he comes back in the third one.
01:05:22We glad he's got Rip.
01:05:23That's a fun cameo.
01:05:26Fox just put out a new book, Future Boy, which is kind of fun.
01:05:29Interesting story about that is for the anniversary, they released the first movie back in theaters.
01:05:37He put out a video saying, okay, I'm going to sign this edition of my book,
01:05:44and I'm going to put two vouchers in for free tickets to go see the movie,
01:05:48and I'm going to hide it in this bookstore.
01:05:50If you find it, lucky you.
01:05:52That's kind of fun.
01:05:52But there are so many, so many Back to the Future things that I'm sure I can insert later on.
01:06:00That's the beauty of production.
01:06:01Are there any other extra appearances, anything having to do with Back to the Future that you guys wanted to bring up?
01:06:07When I'm flying in a plane or I'm on the street, there's a lot of friendly people that I like to meet.
01:06:14They shake my hand but never ask my name, and they start asking questions that are always the same.
01:06:19Hey, what's Michael J. Fox like?
01:06:21He's nice.
01:06:22What's Christopher Lloyd like?
01:06:23Kind of quiet was Crispin Glover like unusual.
01:06:28Stop asking me the question.
01:06:31I went to the bar mitzvah of my nephew Josh.
01:06:34Now, I'm not Jewish, but I like to nosh.
01:06:37Put on my yarmulkes, started to pray.
01:06:40When the rivaline overrun, I heard him say, hey, was that real manure?
01:06:45No, it wasn't.
01:06:46How was that DeLorean?
01:06:47A piece of garbage.
01:06:49Do those hoverboards really fly?
01:06:51It's a movie.
01:06:52Stop asking me the question.
01:06:57Can we take your picture?
01:06:59Come on, look mean.
01:07:00Would you call my friend a butthead on his answering machine?
01:07:03Questions, questions, fill my head.
01:07:06I went to my doctor.
01:07:07My doctor said, what does a key grip do?
01:07:11Set up lights.
01:07:12What does the best boy do?
01:07:14Help the key grip.
01:07:15What does a producer do?
01:07:17I don't know.
01:07:18Stop asking me the question.
01:07:20Do you all hang out together?
01:07:21No, we don't.
01:07:23How's Crispin Glover?
01:07:25I never talk to him.
01:07:26Back to the future for not happening.
01:07:29Stop asking me the question.
01:07:31Hey, who's the nicest, famous guy?
01:07:33You know, Adam Sandler.
01:07:34Who is the biggest jerk?
01:07:36Gary Busey.
01:07:37How much money do you make?
01:07:39More than you do.
01:07:40So stop asking me the question.
01:07:42Gentlemen, from the best movie of all time,
01:07:44Please welcome Mr. Michael J. Foxx.
01:07:48Come on.
01:08:05Let's go.
01:08:09Go.
01:08:10Oh, I thank you, I thank you
01:08:26Please be mine
01:08:29My darling dear
01:08:33I love you for a time
01:08:37I'm just a fool
01:08:40A fool in love with you
01:08:45Oh, yeah
01:08:48Great Scott!
01:08:59This is Dr. Emmerdale Brown
01:09:01And this is my time machine
01:09:04A time machine?
01:09:07You're a fucker McFly
01:09:12I gotta get back in time
01:09:161955
01:09:20Hey McFly
01:09:23I thought I told you never to come in here
01:09:26And if they don't meet
01:09:27I won't fall in love
01:09:29I won't get married
01:09:30And neither you nor siblings will ever be born
01:09:33Whoa, this is heavy
01:09:35You don't need money
01:09:45Don't say fame
01:09:47Don't need no credit card to ride this train
01:09:51It's gonna get a sudden
01:09:53And it's real sometimes
01:09:55But it might just save your life
01:09:58That's the power of love
01:10:02There was something I watched recently
01:10:22Michael J. Fox had a show in like the early 2010s
01:10:26It was like his return to acting
01:10:27Yes
01:10:27Very short-lived
01:10:28I watched it
01:10:29It was pretty fun
01:10:30It was like a standard sitcom
01:10:31Christopher Lloyd has a cameo in a scene
01:10:36I believe in the show
01:10:38His wife is a teacher
01:10:39Christopher Lloyd is like the principal
01:10:41Okay
01:10:41And Michael J. Fox walks up
01:10:43And he's like
01:10:43Pardon me
01:10:44Do you have the time?
01:10:45And Christopher Lloyd is like
01:10:46Well, if my calculations are correct
01:10:48Classic
01:10:49I think they did something similar
01:10:51In Fox's other show
01:10:53Spin City
01:10:53I'm sure
01:10:55I think so
01:10:55I'm sure
01:10:55Joe, any other tidbits on Back to the Future?
01:11:01Nothing jumps to my write-off
01:11:03So, you know
01:11:04That's fair
01:11:07Yeah
01:11:07That's fair
01:11:08I don't know
01:11:08Jesse
01:11:09Not an official one
01:11:10I saw this video recently
01:11:11Colin Furze is on YouTube
01:11:13Obsessed with Back to the Future
01:11:15He's building a underground
01:11:17Garage in this little England neighborhood
01:11:20For his DeLorean
01:11:22He's got a tunnel system
01:11:24Bunker and all that
01:11:25But he did a recent video
01:11:26Where he took a 2025 Toyota Hilux
01:11:28And decked it out to be
01:11:30The original legendary
01:11:31Euro-spec Toyota Hilux
01:11:33From the Back to the Future series
01:11:35Oh, okay
01:11:36Doesn't look anything alike
01:11:37But the enthusiasts are trying to keep it alive
01:11:40And I'm considering it too
01:11:41There you go
01:11:42Get a Tacoma
01:11:43Around here in the States
01:11:44Get those light bars on it
01:11:46You know
01:11:46But little bits like that
01:11:49Fans all around the world
01:11:50Are still doing stuff
01:11:52Most of them agree
01:11:53Back to the Future
01:11:54Leave it as is
01:11:55Don't show up in any weird sequels
01:11:57Or anything
01:11:58I always hear
01:11:59It was more prevalent
01:12:00Like five years ago
01:12:01But it's like
01:12:01Remake Back to the Future
01:12:02With Tom Holland
01:12:03And Robert Downey
01:12:04I don't want that
01:12:05I don't need it
01:12:05Stop it
01:12:07Yeah, no
01:12:07It's perfect as it is
01:12:10I think
01:12:10And
01:12:11You know
01:12:12The three themselves
01:12:14Wrap up the story
01:12:15And there you go
01:12:17All the bonus stuff is great
01:12:20But
01:12:21Just as itself
01:12:22I think it definitely works as itself
01:12:24My recommendation is
01:12:25Get that book
01:12:26Like I said
01:12:27Get that book
01:12:27It's so cool
01:12:28So many little bonus
01:12:29Things there
01:12:30Like the posters
01:12:31And the newspaper
01:12:32And more
01:12:32But yeah
01:12:34No
01:12:35So I want to thank you guys
01:12:36For coming on the show
01:12:37Talking about Back to the Future
01:12:39It's so much fun
01:12:40This is again
01:12:41A highly requested one
01:12:42I like it too
01:12:44But I'm just
01:12:45I'm confused
01:12:45Of why highly suggested it was
01:12:46But
01:12:47It's legendary
01:12:48It's legendary
01:12:49Yes
01:12:49It is
01:12:50So we're going to
01:12:52End the show here
01:12:53We're going to play
01:12:53Our favorite game
01:12:54We're going to do
01:12:55Who are you
01:12:55Don't show them the answer
01:12:59You're fired
01:13:04I'll still
01:13:05Slacker
01:13:06Original answer
01:13:07Yeah
01:13:09Yeah
01:13:10Yeah
01:13:10Yeah
01:13:10Yeah
01:13:11Yeah
01:13:11Yeah
01:13:11Very funny
01:13:12Anyway
01:13:13What we're going to do here is
01:13:16Sorry everybody
01:13:19What we're going to do
01:13:21Is that we're going to
01:13:22I'm going to run a clip for you
01:13:24And it's
01:13:25I'm not going to say
01:13:28If it's a show
01:13:28Or a movie
01:13:29But you have to tell me
01:13:30Who it is
01:13:31And or what it's from
01:13:32Let's roll
01:13:33The question
01:13:34Answer
01:13:38They're trying to rent
01:13:40A house
01:13:41Housing
01:13:42Two bedroom
01:13:42Sublease
01:13:43Nice area
01:13:44Bargain
01:13:45Drawback
01:13:46Big hairy spiders
01:13:47Drop off bedroom ceiling
01:13:49At night
01:13:49Okay you know
01:13:50I'm going to
01:13:52I'm going to pass
01:13:53On renting the room
01:13:54You know
01:13:58I'm sorry
01:13:59Your dog
01:14:00Is not going to let you
01:14:00Carry around
01:14:01In this
01:14:01Unless your dog
01:14:02Is dead
01:14:03Okay
01:14:03Okay
01:14:04No self-respecting dog
01:14:07Would let themselves
01:14:08Be carried around like that
01:14:09This is the thing
01:14:11Where people will see
01:14:12So
01:14:12That is your clip
01:14:14Gentlemen
01:14:14Try to ignore
01:14:16What you saw before
01:14:17And we'll go down
01:14:18The line here
01:14:19Sonny we'll start
01:14:19With you
01:14:20Who is that
01:14:21And or what is it from
01:14:23All right
01:14:23I'm annoyed that it got
01:14:24Spoiled because I knew
01:14:25The answer
01:14:26And now it's going to
01:14:27Make it seem like
01:14:28I didn't know the answer
01:14:29But when you played
01:14:31It for us earlier
01:14:32For a second
01:14:33I thought it was
01:14:34Conan O'Brien
01:14:34But then I realized
01:14:35I'm thinking a little
01:14:36Too late
01:14:37And I get
01:14:38This is
01:14:39I have a little bit
01:14:40Of an advantage
01:14:41Because I work with you
01:14:42And I see you
01:14:42Almost every day
01:14:43Of my life
01:14:44At this point
01:14:44That's true
01:14:45I heard you listening
01:14:46To this a few weeks back
01:14:48It is Jay Leno
01:14:49Reading the newspaper
01:14:51Okay
01:14:51Okay
01:14:52All right
01:14:53Joe
01:14:53Who do you think that is

01:15:08All right

01:15:10Jay Leno

01:15:12Oh go
01:15:15Oh no
01:15:16Oh sure
01:15:17Don't even run
01:15:19The answer

01:15:21And Mike Wazowski
01:15:22There we go
01:15:24Well
01:15:26Regardless
01:15:27I'll just
01:15:28I'll just say it

01:15:33From his time
01:15:33At the Tonight Show
01:15:34I guess
01:15:36We'll settle that bet
