00:01They're the stuff of Aussie legend, but they're also very real.
00:05Any tourists that come to Australia, they all want to see a kangaroo.
00:09And to have the uniqueness of a white kangaroo is even more special.
00:13Approximately 35 white and grey kangaroos call the Border Town Wildlife Park home,
00:18alongside a variety of birds.
00:20A buck was brought here in 1980.
00:23It is just a genetic strain of the western grey kangaroo, so it's not albino.
00:29Border Town is one of the few locations where white kangaroos are bred in captivity.
00:34You do only need to have one parent with this genetic strain for you to have joeys that come out white.
00:39But the mob has grown too big for this enclosure, where they roam freely.
00:43There's about 11 or 12 adult white kangaroos here.
00:47I think they're looking to remove around that 12 too, with whites and the western greys.
00:52Some of these kangaroos will be desaxxed and sold to other wildlife parks around the country
00:56who are interested in the tourist attraction.
00:58The extra room after the sale will allow the park to continue its natural breeding program.
01:03We'll still have the western greys, we'll still have the whites,
01:05we've still got the peacocks, we've still got the wallabies.
01:08So there's a lot of different things here to have a look at.
01:10A rare sight that has some visitors jumping for joy.
01:14I'd like to go to the park to go, and we won't be getting built in the village.
01:19So, I'm not gonna go out and reach out the desert.
01:22I'm gonna go out and reach out.
01:24I'm gonna go out and reach out.
01:25I'm gonna reach out and reach out to the rivers and you see through the water.
