00:00Previously, on Project Runway Canada,
00:03you'll be creating one look that transforms.
00:06This is a two-in-one look and wild.
00:09Have we been able to practice any of the transitions yet?
00:12Not yet.
00:13She goes like that?
00:15Schlock?
00:16Oh, like, tearaways.
00:17Yeah.
00:18I think you're very mad at this vest.
00:20Like, who wears a vest?
00:22The cat's wearing a vest right now.
00:24Charles.
00:25Cat.
00:26You both took your two-in-ones to another level.
00:29Tonight's winner is Cat.
00:31Oh, my God.
00:33Rome.
00:34Little Feather.
00:35This was an incredibly difficult decision.
00:38Little Feather, I'm sorry, but you're out.
00:42At stake for the winner, from TD,
00:44a career-launching investment of $100,000
00:48and a feature in Elle Canada magazine
00:51with global supermodel Coco Rocha,
00:54fashion designer Spencer Badu,
00:56creative director Aurora James
00:59and legendary fashion journalist Jeannie Becker.
01:03This is Project Runway Canada.
01:05We're halfway through this competition.
01:14It's been a lot.
01:15Yeah.
01:16Hey.
01:17Hi, kiddies.
01:18Morning.
01:19Morning.
01:20Morning.
01:21Morning.
01:22Morning, everybody.
01:23Hey.
01:24Can I squeeze in with you guys?
01:25Yeah.
01:26This competition is intense.
01:28Making clothes is my lifeline,
01:30so to sort of put that up for critique
01:33is, like, really scary.
01:35Especially, like, if you are getting
01:37not the kindest words from the judges.
01:39After last week, I'm pissed at the judges.
01:42I'm shocked that the judges did not like my work.
01:45I thought I hit the mark, missed it, I guess.
01:48Obviously, after our critiques last week,
01:50I feel a little self-conscious in myself.
01:53But I'm trying not to beat myself up too badly
01:55about being in the bottom,
01:56so I just have to keep learning from my mistakes.
01:58Only eight of us now.
01:59Like, a bunch of people have gone home.
02:01I'm looking around, and I'm just like,
02:03there's people missing.
02:04Like, this is crazy.
02:05It's so empty in here.
02:07Good morning!
02:08Good morning!
02:09Good morning!
02:10I have a little surprise.
02:11So follow me to the...
02:13runway!
02:14runway!
02:15Okay.
02:16Let's go!
02:21Oh.
02:22Oh, my.
02:23Oh, my God!
02:24Is that bathroom tissue?
02:27I have no idea what's going on right now.
02:30So, who's feeling luxurious today?
02:32Well, I know you all want to roll over the competition,
02:37but to do that, you'll need some serious help.
02:40So, for your next challenge,
02:43we've partnered with the leading Canadian bathroom tissue brand,
02:46Cashmere.
02:47They're the softness and strength you can count on.
02:49For over 20 years, the Cashmere Collection
02:52has been a powerful platform for design with purpose,
02:56committed to raising awareness and funds
02:59to create a future without breast cancer.
03:01I saw a couple of Cashmere runways,
03:03and it's always super interesting what they do.
03:05The bathroom tissue looks so luxurious,
03:09and it's really amazing to watch.
03:11Many iconic Canadian designers have created works of art
03:15for the Cashmere Collection.
03:17And this week, you will follow in their footsteps.
03:20Help.
03:22You'll be creating Cashmere Couture
03:25that celebrates the art of innovation and fashion.
03:29Oh, my goodness. This is going to be interesting.
03:32But you won't be doing all this alone,
03:35because this is a pairs challenge.
03:39So, designers, what makes you feel stronger together?
03:43Pick your pairs.
03:45Start.
03:46Start.
03:47Well, instantly, I feel Curtis with his hand on my back,
03:50and we have a lot in common in our style.
03:52So, of course, I would want to work with him.
03:54Thank God.
03:55You wanna be?
03:56I love Delay.
03:57We get along really well.
03:59Kat and I, we have kind of similar alternative styles,
04:02and she's really good at construction.
04:03I think we'll make a good team.
04:05Foster, you're with me.
04:06So, I picked Foster as my partner.
04:08He's someone that I know that I could work well with.
04:12Charles, Charles, Charles.
04:15Love her.
04:16She's a doll.
04:17She's my homegirl.
04:18You and your partner will create
04:20two distinct genre-inspired runway looks
04:24using only cashmere bathroom tissue as your main fabric.
04:28Oh, I am sweating.
04:30Bathroom tissue disintegrates so easily,
04:32so it's gonna be a challenge.
04:34This is a cashmere couture tissue wall.
04:37Each duo will pull two color-coded rolls.
04:40Light pink's good with me.
04:42You thinking what I'm thinking?
04:43Oh, yeah.
04:44Yes.
04:45Let's get this baby.
04:47Let's see what styles you're working in.
04:49Ooh.
04:51Couture.
04:52Streetwear.
04:53Yes.
04:54Oh, streetwear.
04:55Oh, my God.
04:56It's gonna be hard.
04:57Something expected out of bathroom tissue
04:59would have been, like, bridal or something.
05:00Streetwear, on the other hand, is more difficult.
05:02That's okay.
05:03I got an idea already.
05:05Ooh.
05:06Ooh.
05:07Preppy.
05:08Punk.
05:09Ooh.
05:10Punk is exactly how I would define my aesthetic.
05:14Easy.
05:17New money?
05:18Old money.
05:19Aww.
05:21Can you believe I get old money and Leland gets new money?
05:26The universe.
05:27Thank you for delivering.
05:28Wild.
05:29Yeah, that was a good one.
05:30It's wild.
05:31It's wild.
05:32It's wild.
05:33Sporty.
05:34Sporty.
05:35Can I get anything else but sport?
05:38I just never felt like sport was my thing.
05:41So, designers, you might have noticed the styles that you and your partners drew are total opposites.
05:50Your pairs aren't duos.
05:56They are duels.
05:58Oh.
05:59You will be going head to head and roll to roll.
06:03It feels like a punch to the gut or something, you know?
06:06None of us want to face our best friends.
06:08The top score from each duel will be in.
06:11And their other half will automatically be at risk for elimination.
06:16Maya's always been one of my biggest competitors, but I can't risk being in the bottom.
06:21So, I might have to walk all over her a little bit.
06:24Oh, and one more thing.
06:26This is a one-day challenge.
06:28Oh.
06:32What?
06:33This is a one-day challenge.
06:34It's a duel.
06:35And it's bathroom tissue.
06:37This is probably the hardest thing we've done yet.
06:40I just don't want to be in the bottom again.
06:43You can use the materials provided in the workroom for structure, but the bathroom tissue must be the star of the show.
06:51Show me something that's soft, strong, and runway ready.
06:55Get to it.
06:56Oh, my God.
07:01We just have the day, guys.
07:03Run.
07:04Let's get started.
07:06Oh, my God.
07:08Oh, boy.
07:09Just when I thought I'd get to work with my friends.
07:12We're against each other.
07:14Let's sketch again.
07:16Sketching, sketching, sketching.
07:18They really said, like, pick your friend and you go against them.
07:22Just pretend like we're not against each other and just do the best we can do.
07:25It sucks to be against Kat because she just had the win last week, so she has a lot of momentum.
07:29I wish we can both be at the top, but it's got to be one of us that's at the bottom.
07:33I hope it's not me.
07:34The most important is our looks are better than the others.
07:38Yeah.
07:39We're not going home either way.
07:42Last week was a bit of an off week for me.
07:45Being at the bottom is not a good look.
07:47This competition is hard, and now I'm starting to feel the pressure.
07:51My girlfriend of nine years, Ocean, she has been my main support system.
07:56We have been through a lot.
07:58She transitioned three years into us being together.
08:01It taught me that life is beautiful.
08:04She had a dream that I made top four, so I'm going to have to prove that I deserve to be the top four.
08:09We just got to get to it.
08:11Do you have an idea of what you want to make?
08:14Tennis.
08:15This is a one-day challenge, so I want to keep everything simple.
08:19I am going to make a pleated, asymmetrical, sleeveless dress.
08:24Sporty is pushing me out of my comfort zone, and hopefully the judges will appreciate that.
08:29I'm not worried.
08:31I just want to win.
08:33I think I'm going to try to surprise them, because I think it's the time for that.
08:37Yeah, and I think that's the punk way.
08:40I have named my character the bathroom warrior, and she came to fight.
08:44I'm taking it all the way back to the original punks in London in the 1970s.
08:48She is covered in grommets and studs.
08:51She's got a nice little corset on and huge sleeves, and some cheeky little grommets on the nipples.
08:56I'm confident that my punkness is going to come across.
08:59Yeah.
09:00But it is scary because everything's white, so I'm going to have to really focus on surface design and what I'm doing silhouette-wise.
09:05Yeah.
09:06This challenge is really meaningful to me because I've actually made multiple corsets for a woman who had a single mastectomy.
09:12It felt like I helped to give her back autonomy over her body, and that is what is inspiring me in this challenge.
09:19Are you happy with Preppy?
09:21Yeah, I think it's fine.
09:22I'm hoping to keep it elevated, but inspired by Preppy and hopefully hitting the brief.
09:28I'm thinking about those dolls that you snap the clothes on, and it's just like the front half of the clothes.
09:33Maybe I'll just add a little bit of pink to this and see what it looks like.
09:37We're limited to white of the bathroom tissue or the blush pink of the cashmere color palette.
09:44I don't want to stay in just white, so I'm thinking plaid.
09:48So today I'm going to be making a quilted vest corset with a clad motif to really bring in that Preppy element and then a pleated skirt.
09:57Yeah, I think I have to lean into the pink because the pink is going to bring the preppiness.
10:03Baby, I'm ready. Let's do it. Let's jump into it.
10:06Oh! Oh my god, it ripped so easily.
10:08How are we even going to do this? It's so light and dainty.
10:12Oh!
10:13What?
10:14Make it lifted and it ripped.
10:16I have to bond it. Yeah.
10:18This is a big challenge. We're going to have to tailor the impossible.
10:22So delicate, but I'm going to start making this fringe.
10:25Okay, new money. The first thing you're getting when you're new money is a fur coat.
10:29So I'm making a really tight little mini dress.
10:32Highlight with some stones and some of this pink blush to go with.
10:35This really big fringe coat.
10:38Ooh, fringy fringe.
10:40Fringy fringe. Just making fringe tape right now.
10:43Oh, .
10:46It's my first try to sew with bathroom tissue.
10:51Bathroom tissue. It's made for little cheeks, not for dresses.
10:57It's sewing though. It's kind of working.
11:02How is everybody stabilizing this material?
11:06Bathroom tissue is not an easy material at all and we don't have much time to experiment.
11:12Anything to give me an edge is going to be good.
11:15I remember when I was young, I would crumple it up, wet it and stick it to the ceiling.
11:21So something wet, like a starching spray, might help to bind these layers together and create a homogenous textile.
11:29I think we might have struck gold.
11:34Hard fabric.
11:35How did your fusing test go?
11:37It was okay. I tested a few things.
11:39Learned some things.
11:41What'd you learn?
11:43Um, that this ain't gonna be easy.
11:46I'm not gonna lie. I'm hiding the starch spray.
11:49I don't want anybody else to figure this out.
11:51This is a one day challenge. So I have to go in with a clear plan and a lot of confidence.
11:59I've never draped this fast in my life.
12:02I have a game plan.
12:04I'm putting the actual tissue on the outside of a face and tailoring it.
12:10To create a beautiful, clean silhouette dress with a voluminous hip and some textured ombre feather details crafted from bathroom tissue.
12:19Here we go.
12:29Hi, designers.
12:31Hi.
12:32Your models are gonna be here in an hour and a half.
12:36Make sure you have something to put on their bodies.
12:42Hey, Rome.
12:44Sporty versus soiree.
12:45Uh-huh.
12:46How are you thinking about soiree?
12:47I'm gonna go in an origami kind of way where I'm gonna be making fans.
12:52The top, I'm keeping it a bit more tailored, but the bottom, as usual for me, has more drama.
12:59The fan idea is fun.
13:00Mm-hmm.
13:01This is a very small sketch and a very big proposition.
13:03Uh, yes.
13:04So you're gonna have to get to work.
13:05Definitely.
13:06I wanna see the model in fans.
13:09Are you making fans too, Kat?
13:10You're making fans?
13:11Yeah, we both are.
13:12Oh, no.
13:13Kat's got fans already made.
13:16Hi.
13:17Hi.
13:18You still have the smile of a winner.
13:20How are you feeling about couture?
13:22I was happy to do it, but then I just heard somebody else was doing fans.
13:27Rome's is something completely different.
13:29You're right.
13:30Show me what you're doing.
13:31I am making a showstopper gown embellished with a lot of fans everywhere.
13:38Wow.
13:39This is good.
13:40Yes.
13:41All right, Delaine.
13:42Yes.
13:43Can I see your sketch?
13:44Sure can.
13:45I wanna think about who's gonna win here.
13:48I got street wear.
13:49For me, a hoodie screams street wear.
13:52So, for this cashmere challenge, I'm making a really cool hoodie dress, but with dramatic pedal sleeves.
13:58Hoodie, yes, it is street wear.
14:01It's also sort of just, like, if I asked chat GPT, like, what is street wear, it would be like a hoodie.
14:10Just to make it stand out.
14:11Mm-hmm.
14:12Thanks very much.
14:14Man, the sleeves look great, but, oh, it's not good enough.
14:17We gotta elevate this more to stand out.
14:20It's not just a hoodie.
14:21It's got frickin' nice sleeves.
14:22Like, .
14:26Oh, she's blushing.
14:28Moment of truth.
14:29Ah.
14:31Not too shabby, kid.
14:32Hi.
14:33How's it going?
14:34It's going.
14:35I just tested doing a plaid with the blush.
14:39That looks great.
14:40How are you feeling after last week?
14:41Uh, you know, not a great feeling to have, uh, negative critiques.
14:46That was the first time you were in the bottom, though.
14:49Yeah, but I really thought I was gonna be in the top.
14:51So it was...
14:52That's always the worst.
14:53Yeah.
14:54But I do think the plaid is the thing that could get me over the edge this week.
14:58But if you can pull this off, I think it's gonna be great.
15:03Oh, little fun.
15:04Another little fun.
15:06Mm-hmm.
15:07It's like a shell.
15:08Mm-hmm.
15:09A little bit.
15:12Oh.
15:13I used a zipper in my garment.
15:15Oh.
15:17The zipper going up and down is ripping into the fabric.
15:20And the seam is joined together with glue.
15:23And that seam is just fighting for its life.
15:26Tissue ripping apart is just not what I had on my schedule.
15:30How are you for time?
15:33I honestly have no idea.
15:35Same.
15:36Okay, designers!
15:37Your models are here.
15:39Hi, models!
15:42How are you?
15:43Rome.
15:44We're going for a Westwood.
15:45Yeah.
15:46Punk energy.
15:47You only have 30 minutes!
15:49Okay.
15:50We're gonna get into it really delicately and say a prayer.
15:55Yeah, no.
15:56No.
15:57I don't wanna rip it.
15:58Yeah.
15:59Doing a fitted garment out of bathroom tissue is very risky.
16:03I have to be careful of my hands not ripping through it because it is absolutely super soft.
16:09It's not too bad.
16:11I just need it a bit longer.
16:13Can you just turn to the side?
16:15Such a tricky fabric to work with.
16:17Okay, hi.
16:18What is happening in the back?
16:21Yeah, yeah, no, like...
16:23This is all ripping.
16:24I know.
16:25I know.
16:26If you are the only ones with, like, a crooked zipper and ripped stuff, you're gonna be like, how did everyone else get this and you didn't?
16:36Mm-hmm.
16:37Thanks, Aurora.
16:38I will have to come up with some sort of plan.
16:43The shape is good.
16:45How are you?
16:46You're looking good.
16:47I just want you to continually ask yourself, does this feel like old money?
16:50Yeah.
16:51Maybe I think I should just go more clean on the neckline, just like a band hair.
16:55Okay.
16:56I think that's what we're gonna do.
16:58All right, designers, time's up.
17:00They're gonna say goodbye.
17:01Say goodbye to your models.
17:02Have a good night.
17:03I'll see you tomorrow.
17:04Bye.
17:05Bye.
17:06Runway day is tomorrow.
17:09Some of you are doing a great job listening to your material.
17:13If you don't, you will regret it.
17:15Goodnight.
17:17Bye.
17:19One day challenge.
17:20What were they thinking?
17:23Trying to be delicate but fast.
17:26The fitting didn't go according to plan and I'm feeling desperate.
17:32Curtis.
17:33The other designers are figuring it out and I need a solution fast.
17:38How did you manage to sew your bathroom tissue without ripping it?
17:41You gotta like sandwich it.
17:42Curtis is very helpful.
17:44He tells me what to do and it actually works really well.
17:48Of course.
17:50In this challenge, I'm competing against Maya, not Foster.
17:53And it's really difficult for me to not want to help somebody when they're in need.
17:57I'm still alive.
18:00Oh, damn, people.
18:02One hour and a half left.
18:05Why is this the moment I was like, let me make a tissue bodice?
18:09Oh, my God.
18:10I have to do some top stitching on this bodice.
18:13I gotta make the pleated skirt and complete the plaid.
18:17I can't believe we're doing this in one day.
18:19Like I actually can't believe it.
18:21I just need to put thumbs everywhere.
18:24It's so flat on my hoodie.
18:26You can see every crinkle.
18:27This bathroom tissue is, um, man, it's killing me.
18:31The tissue is wrinkling like crazy.
18:34So I try starch on it.
18:38Oh.
18:39And my shoulder seams just basically fall apart.
18:42It just disintegrates.
18:43The seams fell apart.
18:45I'm starting over.
18:46Damn.
18:47Time's up, everybody.
18:49Let's go.
18:52This is only a one-day challenge.
18:54Runaway day is already tomorrow.
18:56And I have to make another hoodie, but I'm not sure that I have time to do that.
18:59This f***ing hoodie.
19:01Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
19:09I can't believe it's runway day.
19:11No time to lose.
19:12Okay, y'all moving too slow for me.
19:15I lost so many hours yesterday doing the hoodie that disintegrated.
19:19So we're gonna start over.
19:20I have to fix this no matter what.
19:22But I'm really, really worried that I'm gonna run out of time.
19:25Oh, my gosh.
19:27These two on with the glue.
19:29I feel like you still have a lot to do.
19:31Kinda.
19:32I'm a couple hours away from runway.
19:34And I still have to put the collar on the top.
19:38Velcro the back.
19:39And if I'm not on the top against Foster this week, I'm up for elimination.
19:44I'm definitely worried about being in the bottom.
19:48The inside is still falling apart.
19:52I still have to finish the skirt and make sure the pleating is set.
19:57And in order to keep the pleats in place, I've sprayed a starch spray that stiffens it.
20:02But then it has to dry for a very long time.
20:05So I'm just praying that everything goes according to plan.
20:09I want to try this on.
20:11No, you're covered in oil.
20:12You're not allowed.
20:13Please.
20:14I love Leland's jacket.
20:18It's so me.
20:19Wow.
20:20I hate going up against Leland.
20:22But I know my look is stronger.
20:25Good morning, designers.
20:30Good morning.
20:31It's runway day.
20:32Come on in, models.
20:33This is what I have so far.
20:41So let's get into it.
20:42We have a punk princess.
20:44Let's grab some privacy.
20:47One thing about a fitting is it should be behind closed doors.
20:51It's not done yet.
20:52Okay, wait.
20:53I might not go home this week.
20:55I love this look.
20:57I feel like I'm really putting myself out there and maybe that'll land me in the top.
21:01Do you feel like you're meeting the brief with punk?
21:04Absolutely.
21:05And do you think that you're better than your duo mate?
21:10Absolutely.
21:12Not.
21:14The competition is really heating up.
21:16But some of us stay lukewarm.
21:21I haven't seen Curtis's design.
21:23He's keeping the cards close to the chest.
21:25So, yeah, I'm a little nervous about that.
21:27How's this skirt going?
21:28I sprayed it with starching spray so that hopefully the pleats stay.
21:32Has the model tried it on yet?
21:33The skirt doesn't really need to be tried on because it's really like a kilt.
21:36So no.
21:37It's drying.
21:38What do you want from me?
21:40I can't fit this pleated skirt on the model because my skirt's still wet.
21:44I just have to let it keep drying till the very last second.
21:48We're just going to have to hope it works on the runway.
21:50Is this what's drying?
21:51Don't worry about it.
21:54I'm a little worried.
21:56Perfect.
21:58Yesterday, my garment was ripping everywhere.
22:01But with the help of Curtis, I managed to fix it.
22:04And I think I stand a good chance of winning against Rome.
22:08But I don't want to win against everyone.
22:11Does it feel okay?
22:12Yeah, it feels good.
22:13Oh, my God.
22:14I put this hoodie together really quickly.
22:16And I think I pulled it together really well.
22:18Is there anything else that we can do to this garment itself to make it feel more streetwear?
22:24I'm making a really, really cute crossbody bag.
22:27I think we need something else in the outfit.
22:29I don't know, man.
22:30There's not a lot of time.
22:32So I kind of have to commit to something and just go with it.
22:35This bag will make me happy.
22:36Okay, I'm doing the plaid.
22:38I'm really holding my breath for this plaid effect because this could set the preppy look over the edge.
22:45If it doesn't work, I'm not sure if my look is going to read preppy at all.
22:51I don't know how I feel about it, but it certainly can't come off.
22:54All right, designers, start bringing your models over to the L'Oreal Paris Glam Room.
23:02We're going for something glowy, something bright.
23:05I want a timeless beauty.
23:07I want her makeup to pop.
23:09Timeless Beauty for me, I think about is skin.
23:11My go-to product is the Infallible Skin Ink.
23:15This is a hybrid foundation and concealer that's going to give her like the look of foundation,
23:20but the coverage of concealer.
23:22This is transfer-proof and long-lasting.
23:24I love it.
23:26Five minutes, you guys.
23:28Gotta focus.
23:30I'm rhinestoning right now, and I finally feel in my element.
23:34I originally wanted to add pink blush as well, but last week the judges told me I need to edit myself back, so I think it's time to delete.
23:44Let's head to the runway, everyone.
23:46Time to go.
23:47I just want to do one more fan.
23:51Two minutes until the models need to be ready.
23:54Let's just make sure we don't have any threads.
23:56There we go.
23:57That's better.
23:58My final hoodie design looks really cool, but I'm looking at cats and I have to say I'm very impressed.
24:05I am nervous that I'm not going to be at the top.
24:08It is very different compared to everyone else's, so I think it'll stand out.
24:11From the back, it's so like paper doll dress.
24:14I love it.
24:15I'm so proud of this look.
24:17After last week, I have no idea what the judges are thinking, but this week I would be shocked if they don't love this look.
24:25It is time to hit the runway.
24:27Let's go.
24:28Let's go.
24:29Let's go.
24:30Hi, designers.
24:45Hi.
24:46Welcome back to the runway.
24:48This week, your challenge was to create custom bathroom tissue couture.
24:52Tonight, we're going to see if you can roll with the punches.
24:56Because in this competition, sometimes you're in and sometimes you're out.
25:02Please say hello to your judges.
25:04Fashion designer, Spencer Badu.
25:06Hi, designers.
25:08Fashion journalist, Jeannie Becker.
25:10So happy to see you guys.
25:12And meet makeup artist and content creator, Mei Peng.
25:17Hello, everyone.
25:19We'll be scoring your designs as they come down the runway.
25:22Let's get this show started.
25:25Our first pair, it's Maya and Curtis with Preppy vs. Punk.
25:34I'm just blown away.
25:36She looks so cute.
25:37And I think everything came together.
25:40I'm the only person who used the pink color to really convey a full concept of this toy doll idea.
25:48And so I hope that the judges see the risk I took.
25:57Under a really tight timeframe, I was able to get a solid understanding of this material.
26:02That's world tissue.
26:05Even though I'm going to be judged and critiqued, I am really proud of this look.
26:09It's the most authentic representation of myself.
26:11And I hope the judges can recognize that.
26:13It is punk perfection.
26:15Of course they have tissue.
26:16Our next duo, Charles and Leland with old money versus new money.
26:34This looks expensive as hell.
26:40The whole point of old money is not to be ostentatious.
26:44It's clean.
26:45It's polished.
26:46It's elegant.
26:47So cool.
26:48It does not look like bathroom tissue.
26:51It looks like cashmere.
26:53Nobody's going to believe this tissue.
26:59I turned bathroom tissue into a completely different texture and material.
27:04That's a fur coat.
27:05And then I also created like a satin finish.
27:08And I was the only person who rhinestone anything.
27:10It's really so impressive.
27:12I think this look could give me the win.
27:15It's new money.
27:16Baby as rhinestone to get into it.
27:18I'm giggling.
27:19These are so good.
27:20That was a hard one.
27:21And now we have Foster in Rome with Sporty versus Soiree.
27:23My model looks so fresh.
27:38She's giving tennis.
27:40She's giving Maria Sharapova.
27:42For this look, I want the judges to see something that's a little bit different from what they used to see me do.
27:48Something that's a little bit younger and a little bit more fun.
27:51I was at the bottom last week and I want to show the judges that I can create very clean work.
28:02I'm loving the fans, the asymmetrical details that I did at the bottom of the skirt.
28:08I feel pretty good about the duel.
28:12Foster and I are buds, but I got this in a bag.
28:17And finally, Kat and Elaine with Couture versus Streetwear.
28:30It's looking fabulous.
28:31And those little earrings and the little shoes, so cute.
28:42I'm super pleased.
28:43It's super perfect.
28:45It's my kind of couture.
28:52I'm feeling really good about the design.
28:54I mean, the hoodie could be a little bit better.
28:56My first hoodie disintegrated, so this is my second one.
28:59But I'm proud of it.
29:01The petals on the sleeve are everything.
29:03It's something that I do a lot.
29:04I hope the judges notice all the ruffle detail.
29:07It takes a lot of time to do that, and I think that they're really going to appreciate it.
29:30Designers, please step up to the runway.
29:36As you know, this was a pairs challenge.
29:40One designer from each duo will be in.
29:43And the other will be automatically up for elimination.
29:50We've scored your designs.
29:52When I call your name, please step forward.
29:56Maya.
30:00Delaine.
30:03Rome.
30:04Charles.
30:09If I called your name, you are the loser of your duel.
30:13All four of you are up for elimination.
30:15Please leave the runway.
30:17I had to be somebody.
30:27I had to be somebody, you know?
30:28Yes.
30:29The four of you were victorious in your design duels.
30:33Each of your looks were inventive, artistic, and elegant.
30:38You are the winner.
30:39You are the winner.
30:40Yes.
30:41You are the winner.
30:42Please step forward.
30:43You are both in and can leave the runway.
30:48Thank you so much.
30:49Great meeting.
30:50The winners of the duel.
30:51Yes.
30:52That means Curtis and Leland.
30:53You are the top two designers of the week.
30:54Yay.
30:55That's great.
30:56We'd like to talk to each of you about your looks.
30:57Let's bring out your models.
30:58They're both really strong.
30:59These were out of this world.
31:00Curtis.
31:01Tell us more about your design.
31:02My style said punk.
31:03So I drew inspiration from the OG punks back in the 70s in London.
31:07And I knew that I really wanted to transform the bathroom tissue into my style.
31:12And I knew that I really wanted to transform the bathroom tissue into my style.
31:17So I drew inspiration from the OG punks back in the 70s in London.
31:24And I knew that I really wanted to transform the bathroom tissue into something that I could
31:29build structure with.
31:30So the corset is made out of probably around six or seven layers.
31:34And of course it's me.
31:35So I had to be a little bit risky.
31:37So I thought a little nipple piercing.
31:39When this came down the runway, I kept turning to Spencer.
31:43I'm like, he's broken the rules.
31:45There's no way that this is bathroom tissue.
31:47It's fabulous.
31:48The ability to play with something so delicate like bathroom tissue and add the ground
31:54makes them croaching on the sleeve.
31:56You just literally took this material to all another world.
31:59Seeing this to me just sets my heart on fire.
32:02Truly.
32:03Oh my God.
32:04This is everything.
32:05What impressed me the most is your points of reference.
32:10I'm from that era.
32:11You know, I started covering the punk scene back in the late 70s.
32:14Interviewed Vivian Westwood countless times.
32:17And she'd be so proud of you.
32:20If there's any tiny little critique, it would be the corsets with the laces in the back.
32:26But I don't think we should be seeing that anymore from anyone else.
32:30It's just we've seen too much of it.
32:32The trend forecast to say no more corset.
32:35We hear you.
32:36Thank you, Curtis.
32:38Leland, tell us about this new money look.
32:41We've all gotten paychecks, you know, and then we're like, wait, I need to blow it all.
32:45I thought the first thing that you're buying is a fur coat.
32:48And for the bottom dress, I was really trying to go for like a goatee reference point.
32:52If she's just gotten new money, she doesn't know any better to be wearing both these incredibly ostentatious outfits at the same time.
32:59She's new money.
33:00Let's be real.
33:01Sometimes new money can be cheap, but you gave it this richness with that piping.
33:05And of course, Diamantes, of course, fur.
33:08I'm inspired to install a disco ball in my bathroom.
33:12That's what that outfit did for me.
33:15So imaginative.
33:16The contrast of the fringe to the rigidness of the dress.
33:20The balance of the large over the top coat with this my little sweet 16.
33:26The visual flow that it gives is so pleasing to the eye.
33:30I don't know how you were able to do all of that in such a short amount of time.
33:34I'm always blown away by what you're able to pump out under pressure.
33:38Thank you both.
33:39You may all leave the runway.
33:48The four of you, unfortunately, have lost your duels and are up for elimination.
33:53Maya and Elaine, please step forward.
33:57You have the two lowest scores of tonight, which means Charles and Rome.
34:06You're still in and you can leave the runway.
34:10You guys are safe.
34:15Let's bring out your models.
34:28Maya, tell us about this look.
34:30The first thought that came to mind for Preppy was pleated skirts and sweater vests.
34:34Then I started thinking about those dolls with the snap on clothes.
34:38So I wanted to go for that idea.
34:41I did really appreciate that you used color.
34:43I think you're the only designer that used color.
34:45Yes.
34:46I think it really drove the idea home of Preppiness.
34:48Well, pink was the only color option offered to us.
34:51It's almost like you're saying it like, oh, it's the only thing we could get.
34:54We're liking the pink.
34:55I don't think I would actually gotten Preppy if this was in full white.
34:58I'm just curious to know why this top of the skirt was presented in that way.
35:04I wanted it to be off of the hips, like to the same reference of the dolls.
35:08If that skirt were to be a little more animated, that would just bring home that doll effect that you wanted.
35:14Sometimes I think your storytelling gets so intelligent, but we're not looking for a doll that's Preppy.
35:19We were just looking for a Preppy.
35:21I do love having a story to everything I do.
35:23I'd value the execution to be par to your storytelling.
35:27I'm really happy with how it turned out.
35:30Thank you, Maya.
35:32Delaine, tell us how this look came together.
35:35I did want to create a cool uptown girl.
35:38I love a dramatic sleeve.
35:39Petal making is something I do quite often at home.
35:42I did enjoy the petals on the sleeve.
35:44I think that is where my eye went to when I first saw it.
35:47But a hoodie for me was just like a big cliche.
35:50I would have loved to see something else.
35:51It's a lot at once.
35:54There's not a lot of breathing room.
35:56Right.
35:57There might have been an opportunity to crop it.
35:59Yeah.
36:00Like super, super crop top.
36:01Oh, yeah.
36:02That would have been cute.
36:03The look came out and I thought, I love the little cross body bag.
36:06But it didn't really say street to me until I saw the hood.
36:11I just want to know, does the hood actually work?
36:13Yeah.
36:14Or does it fall apart?
36:15No, it works.
36:16Oh, and it doesn't.
36:17That's cute.
36:18See, I like it on.
36:19Yeah.
36:20She should have presented it like that.
36:22Thank you both.
36:23You can all leave the runway.
36:29Hi.
36:30Hi.
36:31Hi.
36:32It's rough out there, hey?
36:33Oh, my goodness.
36:34It was rough for us to watch.
36:35Yeah, but we did our best, you know?
36:39Who should be our winner?
36:41Leland Curtis.
36:42Curtis just really nailed that whole punk sensibility
36:47in such a glorious, romantic way.
36:50That look was informed by the past, and I love where he took the punk energy.
36:54Everything down to the studs, the details, it was so convincing.
36:57I had to remind myself constantly that this is made out of bathroom tissue.
37:02Both looks were incredibly strong.
37:05Leland's look, it just screamed beauty.
37:09It was sexy, it was sensual, truly a fantasy.
37:13The layers in the coat, it felt rich.
37:16That was the perfect miniskirt.
37:17And just that extra piping gave it a little elegance.
37:20It was just fantastic.
37:23Let's talk about who should go home, Delane or Maya.
37:28I think Delane's look did lack a certain level of imagination.
37:32The minute it came out, I thought, well, what street about this?
37:35And then I realized, okay, there's a hood, kind of a cliche.
37:38There was no sort of relief from the overwhelming silhouette.
37:42I mean, those sleeves came to play.
37:44They were so over the top.
37:47That's a big brownie point for me.
37:49I loved Maya's use of color.
37:52Preppy pink, the two and two go hand in hand together.
37:54The ability to transform bathroom tissue into something that really looked like plaid,
37:59I thought was like really beautiful.
38:01But if Maya didn't tell us about the doll, I don't think I would have understood the concept.
38:06The doll wasn't part of the brief.
38:08It's cute.
38:09I will have to say Maya's got to kind of work on her attitude.
38:12We give her some sort of what feels like criticism.
38:16It's an immediate like, I don't know what you're talking about.
38:18I think that kind of ability to take criticism is really a matter of maturity.
38:28Even though there's a lot about Maya that is really sophisticated, she's young in years.
38:35All right. I think we've made our decisions.
38:37Curtis and Leland, we were blown away by your precision under pressure.
38:47Your bathroom tissue designs left the rest in shreds.
38:52But the winning look tonight showed us a softer side with a hard edge.
38:58Curtis, you are the winner.
39:02Oh my God.
39:04This is insane.
39:09To finally get this moment, it just makes me feel so seen.
39:13And it makes it feel like all of my hard work is finally paying off.
39:16Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
39:18You've won $5,000 courtesy of Kashmir. Congratulations.
39:23The bathroom warrior lives on forever.
39:27But that's not all.
39:29Please welcome from Kashmir, Susan Irving.
39:33Congratulations.
39:34You've earned a coveted spot in our 2026 Kashmir Collection,
39:39our annual fashion show supporting the vision of a future without breast cancer.
39:44Legendary Canadian designers like Greta Constantine, Leslie Hampton, David Dixon, and Marie St. Pierre have all designed for our show.
39:53And we are thrilled that you will continue the legacy of fashion with compassion.
39:59Congratulations, Curtis.
40:01Thank you so much, Susan.
40:04Bye, guys.
40:05Bye.
40:06Leland, you're still in. You and Curtis can leave the runway.
40:11Thank you all so much.
40:16Hey.
40:17I am the bathroom tissue designer.
40:20Finally.
40:21I'm a winner.
40:23Well deserved.
40:25Maya, your look was pretty in pink, but the construction didn't quite measure up.
40:31Delaine, we loved your ruffle sleeve details, but ultimately found your look too cliché.
40:41Delaine, I'm sorry, but you are out.
40:48That's okay.
40:53Maya, you're still in. And you can leave the runway. Thank you.
41:00Delaine, you might be a small town girl.
41:02Yeah.
41:03But you showed us some big, big talent. Keep sharing your gift, my love.
41:07I will. It's been amazing. I love all the people, and I just appreciate all of you guys.
41:12And this is not the end for me.
41:14Can I give you a hug?
41:15Yes, absolutely.
41:16Thank you so much, you guys.
41:17I appreciate everything.
41:18And good luck with everything. It's going to be hard. You have lots of talents in there.
41:21Bye, my love.
41:22Bye.
41:27Oh, Delaine.
41:28Delaine.
41:29I'm sure you're going to miss you guys.
41:30We're going to miss you.
41:31We're going to miss you.
41:38And you all inspired me so much.
41:41It's Aurora.
41:43It just gets so much harder every week.
41:46I know.
41:47But it's actually just the beginning of your career.
41:50Absolutely.
41:51And you have a whole new community of people.
41:54Sure do.
41:55All right, guys.
41:56I'm out.
41:57Even though this experience is very stressful, I've learned that sometimes if you put yourself
42:04in an uncomfortable situation, that's really where you thrive.
42:08I've grown as a human.
42:09I've definitely grown as a designer.
42:11So I'm leaving with way more confidence in my talent.
42:16This has been an experience that I'll never forget.
42:22Next time on Project Runway Canada.
42:24Each of you will design a high fashion look inspired by one of these two styles.
42:29What the hell am I going to do with that?
42:31I decided to take it to the high seas.
42:33Your model's walking the runway, not the plank.
42:35It can look very costumy.
42:37This entire thing, I'm going to have to redo it.
42:39You've been given a lot of advice, and I'm not sure how much of it you've listened to.
42:44Oh.
42:45What do you think about this?
42:46It's either going to be haute couture or a hot mess.
