00:00This time on Rides Down Under, Aussie Truckers.
00:26We meet father and son trucking team, Rocky and Daniel Princey.
00:30Then head to Wandon Valley Farm to load freshly picked cherries and get them to market on
00:35time.
00:36Don drops into Pearl Craft to check out the custom interior parts for the 610 Kenworth
00:41Field.
00:42But first up, work continues at Diesel Doctor as Nicole adds the silverback front flares
00:48to the newly named Golden Eagle.
00:56We're trying to design the back bump bar at the moment.
01:06We usually go for the one piece bump bar for the lights across.
01:10But once again, this is going at the Outback, rough roads.
01:14So I've told Nicole what I want to design is separate pieces.
01:17So don't want it to, but if something gets damaged, hit a roo, anything like that, doesn't
01:22know what it is, we change section by section.
01:24So Nicole's come up with this little design down here, if you want to lift it up Nicole.
01:31Section of lights, we'll still drop it down a little bit, but this will be our section
01:35of a bump bar each side, so obviously they'll be uniformed on the other side.
01:39And we have the ice pack in the middle, which pursues just a little bit.
01:43So we'll come up for another section here, so it'll be a three piece back bump bar.
01:48So anything happens, whatever, we can change whatever we want at the time.
01:53So one, two, three, but the designs are all different.
01:57So we've come up with the design for each side, now we can try to figure something for
02:01the middle.
02:02So I still like my lights, so we'll dress it up with lights and chrome and just see what
02:09Nicole comes up with.
02:10We've got to put a little thinking cap on and we'll go from there, eh?
02:14Yeah, that's the fun part.
02:16I've also designed the sidebars so they don't sit out as far, so it's less likely that it's
02:24going to get hit.
02:25So, I mean, this is going to be a working truck.
02:28And that's my first and foremost, I want to make sure the drivers can access it and they
02:32can fix it on the side of the road if they need to, and it's just easy to maintain.
02:40I'm making polis my guts, so we don't have the poles that will come out.
02:46They'll dip down and they'll be attached to the chassis.
02:50So they really need to be very strong because they've got to withstand a lot of corrugated,
02:57rough roads, heavy loads, all of that stuff.
02:59So I've made it out of a 5mm thick 75 by 50 tube.
03:06I've got a 10mm plate which has been cut to measure exactly on the holes there.
03:12But that's, so that's going to sit, that will sit there like that.
03:26And then obviously the pole, which you won't see, which will come out here.
03:30So that comes straight down and the pole will come out at a 90 degree angle to the plate.
03:46I've made these flares to fit on the steers of the truck here.
03:53We are going to offset these wheels, so when they come out a little bit more they're going
03:58to look really good.
03:59And that's why I wanted to go with this particular type of flare.
04:04When we put it on though, it just stuck out so far, this bit here.
04:09While it's alright at the front because it sort of aligns with the front bar, the back
04:14here just sort of stuck out.
04:15So I just created a little stainless steel piece and it just fits perfectly.
04:21I actually really love how it turned out.
04:31Now we've got a little bit of play so we can align it so that the two look the same and that
04:42the heights are the same as well.
04:46So as this is one of Don's first new crime movies that he's ever got, we're really having
04:53a little bit of focus on making sure that we take good care of it, that we maintain it
04:58and look after it.
04:59So one of the ideas that Don came up with, and because he also had it on his dad's truck,
05:04so it's a little bit nostalgic for him as well, is putting the perspex back in to protect the
05:11lights and from stone chips and stuff.
05:13So that'll be sitting in behind here, which we'll bolt in, we'll probably do, we'll probably
05:21tap in the screws.
05:23We'll have an aluminium border around the back so it looks like it's meant to be there.
05:26We'll frame the perspex using the aluminium, which we'll polish as well, obviously, to maintain
05:32the uniformity across the front bar.
05:35And that'll slide in there, and then that will bolt onto the bar itself.
05:40You know what?
05:41It's pretty good.
05:42I can't complain.
05:43That's good.
05:44Here we go, ching-ching.
05:46Salute!
05:47Coming up, we catch up with Rocky and Daniel Princey from Princey Transport.

06:59It's a partnership.
07:00Sam & Forbes
07:17Uh, Tasebe and I, or Donny there and Maria and Jess, oh geez I've known them for...
07:23Oh, I couldn't even tell you how long.
07:25A long time, you know.
07:27So, Donny's a bit of a character, so we have a bit of a banter between each other.
07:33You know, Daniel's 15, my son Daniel's 15, and they've seen him pretty much born.
07:38Donny and Daniel, like, they get along like a house on fire.
07:42Daniel, one question, mate.
07:44What's the better-looking truck?
07:45TCB or yours?
07:47Probably mine.
07:48S***!
07:49Yeah, it's really good to see how Daniel and Donny get along.
07:54And, you know, and they have a bit of a banter between themselves.
07:58We're very close, you know, and I think we'll be close to the day we're dying.
08:06I work with Wondon Valley Farms.
08:08I'm a sixth generation of this family business that grows cherries in this region for over 100 years in the Yarra Valley.
08:16We've grown cherries, plums, apples in this region for over 100 years.
08:20The first documented cherry growing experience around here was in 1893 by, I think, my three-times great-grandfather, Henry.
08:28And we've been growing cherries since then in the family.
08:33We've already had a couple of B-doubles in.
08:35They've come from the farm in Bowyer.
08:37They've already unloaded cherries and reloaded empty fruit bins to go back.
08:40We're empty at the moment, so we're going to set up for market for tonight and export.
08:44So what we've got to do is trucks, they run up to Bowyer, we do it early in the morning, so we're sort of loading about midnight, 1 o'clock in the morning is the best time.
08:53So we get the fruit here, say, between 6 and 7, so these guys can put in a cool room.
08:59There's all different varieties, so then they know what they're packing for the day.
09:02So then if we run late and the packers are sitting here, well, they've got nothing to do.
09:08We've got to be here so these guys are ready to rock and roll.
09:11So when the workers come in, there's fruit on the packing machine, you know, ready to be packed.
09:14So when we come in with doubles, sometimes we come in singles, but the majority is B-doubles.
09:21We come in, we back the B-double up.
09:23Normally what we do is we unload the B-trailer first with fruit, load it up with empty bins,
09:28take it off the dock, disconnect it, put the A on, unload, reload, hook up the A-trailer back to the B,
09:35just sort of go back to the yard and sort of park it up for the day and sort of start again at 10 o'clock at night and trucks go.
09:41It depends on what we're doing, what the season is.
09:44Normally during the day they're parked up a bit, but they work in the evening onwards and right through the night.
09:50Wondon Valley Farms is a family-owned business.
09:53We have three, four orchards.
09:56We've been dealing with Rocky for a long time now.
09:58Rocky, we've grown together.
10:00Our businesses have both sort of developed over time and Rocky's, he's really looked after us.
10:05He values our product, he values us and making sure that he's doing the best thing by our fruit
10:13and delivering it in the best cool chain environment that's required
10:18and also travelling at times, you know, that aren't always conducive
10:23but making sure we've always got fruit here to pack
10:26and delivering it safely and coolly and in a timely fashion.
10:32He also takes our fruit into the market, to the airport.
10:34Today we've been carping cherries back from the farm where they grow them,
10:47bringing them back to here, the sorting shed, and then we unload them.
10:51They take them into the cool room, load empty bins back onto the truck
10:55and then we head up again tonight.
10:57Once you get to know it, you've still got to earn it a bit
11:02but there's a lot of hills coming up in Dewwandan
11:04and tight driveways and tight loading docks
11:08but once you know it, it all just becomes the second nature
11:12so, yeah, it keeps it interesting.
11:14Yeah, just work for Princey in the harvest season,
11:16just keeps it pretty busy through then.
11:18Summer and, yeah, part-time through when the hay's on as well
11:21so I'll jump in there a bit and help out.
11:25Fruit, you've got to keep it temperature controlled.
11:27It all comes out of the cool room
11:29so you've got to keep it, have the van bodies cool already.
11:33But as for that, it's pretty straightforward.
11:36As long as you're on time, they're happy.
11:38Up on the full weight, sort of 62 tonnes,
11:40so, yeah, so we're always going heavy.
11:42So what comes in here will go into market tonight or for export.
11:47See the fruit market out at Epping
11:49and depending which export place they've chosen for the year,
11:52that's where we'll go overseas.
11:55Yeah, I've been driving trucks off for about 30 years, yeah.
11:57Just love it, love the trucks, love just getting out on the road
12:00and, you know, being with other mates and, yeah, it's good fun.
12:04Start last night, head up to the farm
12:06with a trailer load of empty bins.
12:08Get up there, forklift's up there
12:10and a forklift driver and unload all the empty bins.
12:13Straight away, they're chucking the full bins out of the...
12:17They've just been hand-picked that day.
12:20So it's literally picked into the cool room, straight into the truck.
12:23And then we bring them first thing in the morning here, they unload it
12:26and they start packing it tonight.
12:29They've got a big crew up there, so imagine it'll be like, you know,
12:3140-degree day, you'd be pretty hot stuck out in those trees.
12:34But they do a good job, all the hand-pickers.
12:35They just come in and smash it out.
12:37Well, I'll jump out and get on the fork and help them out.
12:40So it just makes the process quicker.
12:41I don't like standing around, so, yeah.
12:43Drive, come here, help out, hop on the fork.
12:46So, yeah, it'll feel good fun.
12:47I've been driving trucks for a little while around the farm,
12:53unhooking, re-hooking up trailers to trucks
12:57and organising paperwork.
13:00And, yeah, Dad lets me drive a bit around the yard or on the farm.
13:05I want to take over the show and run it, take it off Dad's hands.
13:10I'm 15, just about 16.
13:12Yeah, just love doing it all the time and couldn't be around it anymore.
13:17So, yeah, we needed to bring the B-doubles around, unhook the B,
13:22put the A on the dock, put the B on the dock, unload, reload,
13:26re-hook up the B-double, move that away and then do it for the next B-double
13:31and then the next one.
13:33They'll go all around Australia and some will even go overseas.
13:36We do a lot for this company, for Wanda Valley Farms.
13:38See a lot of drivers come around here and still think I could do it a bit better.
13:57Next, we catch up with all the action for the 610 Kenworth Bill.
14:08Jens' Equipment is a distributor for global leading brands
14:13such as Bendback, Sturtle Coney, Fiesbath.
14:16So we supply hoist lifting equipment, specialised testing equipment
14:20throughout Australia in all segments,
14:22whether it's a car dealership right the way through to a car enthusiast
14:26or a truck dealership right the way through to a truck enthusiast.
14:29The difference we see with the Bendback hoist
14:31is not just with the ergonomical technology that we use
14:34when we're operating the hoist and lifting the hoist,
14:36it's all about safety and longevity.
14:39We can put anyone under the hoist and we know they're safe.
14:42With the Bendback hoist, there's no complicated buttons to use.
14:46When we want the hoist to go up, we press the button.
14:48In return, then when we want to lower the hoist down,
14:50it's just a matter of lifting the handle
14:52and that releases the safety locks.
14:54We just press the button and it steadily brings that car down.
15:00In our Bendback range, we have the two-poist hoist,
15:02which is very, very popular, but we do the four-poist hoist
15:05and that's anything from a car to a truck in the four-poist range.
15:08So the versatility for whatever you use in any type of application,
15:12in a workshop, we've got the hoist there to accommodate that.
15:26So this week, we've got all hands on deck.
15:28This 610 SAR, we're trying to do a review on this weekend coming.
15:32I think we've got about three days to go and I've got everyone here.
15:35I've got Nicole and her team, Desert Doctor.
15:37I've got the other side of Desert Doctor Mechanics
15:38trying to recreate exhaust systems here.
15:43I've got electricians here. I've got sign riders here.
15:45I've got everybody here trying to get this thing done.
15:47It's a special truck for us. It's a special edition.
15:50We've called it the Golden Eagle,
15:51hence why we've made another Eagle here,
15:53which is gold, not like the other trucks we have.
15:56Big shout-out to Exotic Graphics.
15:58I rang little Nick to get this Eagle done.
16:01I gave him one day.
16:02He thought I was a good joker, but I was pretty serious.
16:05And then they're all credit.
16:07One day, he's done his design, printed his Eagle.
16:10I can't believe it.
16:12And it was someone's good idea to put new exhaust on.
16:15Don't know who that was. It was probably me,
16:17which is becoming a real headache.
16:19Like, brackets don't fit.
16:21So much modification to do.
16:23But, you know what?
16:24I've got to thank the guys from Silverback.
16:26They have come to the party
16:28and given me these exhaust systems,
16:30a nice chrome 8-inch exhaust.
16:33So the general ones are,
16:34I'll put that away to a little person there at the moment.
16:37They usually come in 5-inch.
16:39I want 8-inch straight up.
16:41So it's a bigger task than I thought.
16:43So this is really stressing me out at the moment.
16:45I'm not really sure this will get done,
16:47but we've got to work back.
16:49I have to get it done now.
16:50This truck's going to go for this weekend.
16:53So this is a 610SAR.
16:54So the whole exhaust system is different
16:56to another conventional truck.
16:59So I've never seen it done on this particular model.
17:02So hopefully, fingers crossed,
17:05there's a doctor come off the first system
17:06to fit this exhaust up.
17:08This is an 8-inch, as I said.
17:09It comes down to 5-inch.
17:11We've got an extra size.
17:12But it's everything.
17:14Modifying, dropping the exhaust system
17:16down below the cab
17:17because the 8-inch hits the actual cab.
17:19So we're going to drop it down,
17:21redo the brackets.
17:22It's actually a little bit too short
17:24to fit the Y section.
17:25So we extend the Y section
17:27underneath the cabin.
17:28And then all the bracketry
17:29on the side of the cab,
17:31completely different.
17:32Nothing suits, nothing matches,
17:35which is fine,
17:36but it's just all modifications.
17:38Hands full at the moment to do this
17:39and hopefully it all works out.
17:40So these are the brackets
17:48that come with the truck.
17:50So these basically bolt
17:51onto the side of the cabin up there.
17:54So you can see the Dynava is only 5-inch.
17:56Silverback, good friends of mine,
17:59come up with a 8-inch bracket.
18:01So that's the 8-inch,
18:03and that's what I want on the truck.
18:05You can tell the size difference.
18:06Once that's clamped up,
18:07we'll have the 8-inch exhaust,
18:10but it's not that easy.
18:12These holes here
18:13don't match these holes,
18:15for an example.
18:17So we have to cut and shut that,
18:20put that on the truck,
18:22put the exhaust on,
18:23go to the next bracket,
18:25the next bracket underneath the truck.
18:26So it is a task.
18:28I must admit,
18:29I don't usually get stressed out,
18:31but at the moment,
18:32I think the blood pressure's going
18:33right through the head here,
18:34and I don't know,
18:35we've got to get it done now.
18:36We can't come back now,
18:37because everything's apart.
18:38So we've just got to make this happen.
18:41But you know what?
18:41That's what we do, isn't it?
18:43Makes it fun.
18:48We've spent a lot of time
18:49and effort on this truck.
18:50SineRite is different,
18:51this one,
18:51where we've put all gold,
18:5323-carat gold leaf,
18:55SineRite on this truck,
18:56all over it.
18:57Put the Golden Eagle,
18:58so it's completely different
19:00to what we do
19:01for other standard TCB trucks.
19:03I've gone all out.
19:04Got things happening on the fuel tanks,
19:06the back bumpers
19:07are getting wrapped as well.
19:08Oh, so much.
19:10The steel wall doesn't come.
19:11The ear knob doesn't come.
19:12Nothing's coming in there.
19:13I've got a funny feeling
19:14everything's going to come in at once.
19:15It's just going to go
19:16bang, bang, bang,
19:17hands on.
19:18Let's just do it,
19:18get into it.
19:19We've got to make sure
19:19we do it right and safely too.
19:24Well, the piece truck
19:25in this truck's
19:25a little bit different as well.
19:26As I said,
19:27it's all gold leaf.
19:28I've actually put
19:29the number 97
19:30on the bonnet
19:30and people ask me
19:32why it's 97.
19:33So that's when TCB
19:34was established,
19:351997.
19:35So this is a special truck.
19:37Put 97 on it
19:38so people will know
19:39that's when we started
19:40and hopefully
19:41the next generation
19:42takes it through.
19:43After my time,
19:44who knows?
19:44We'll just follow on.
19:46TCB taking care of business.
19:47Once it's revealed,
19:49we'll be going up north
19:49to start doing road train work.
19:51But it's fitted out.
19:52I mean,
19:53driver comfort.
19:54It's got two fridges in it,
19:55TV,
19:56microwave,
19:57ice pack on it,
19:58which is a heater
19:59and air conditioner
19:59for the bunk.
20:00I had none of that
20:01when I was driving.
20:03I had a window,
20:04heater,
20:05air conditioning,
20:05that was it.
20:06So the driver's
20:07can't complain.
20:08Give them more comfort,
20:09they rest better
20:10and they perform better
20:11during the day.
20:11So that's what it's all about.
20:13My choice of truck is Kenworth.
20:14I've always had good runs
20:15out of Kenworth,
20:15the reliability.
20:17It's just a man's truck.
20:19That's my opinion only.
20:20It's a man's truck
20:21and when you're sitting
20:22behind a badge
20:23of a Kenworth,
20:24you know you're driving.
20:24So that's the feel
20:26I like,
20:26driving.
20:27So at this stage
20:28we're just going to go,
20:29go, go
20:29and hopefully
20:30by the end of the week
20:31it's done
20:31and we'll have a good,
20:32nice reveal
20:33and hopefully everyone
20:34enjoys it.
20:34That's what it's all about.
20:35Other people enjoying
20:36the product we do
20:37and we all can share
20:39the love.
20:39It's great.
20:39Yeah, so this week's
20:49a really busy week
20:50for us
20:50apart from putting
20:51a 610 SAR on the road.
20:54The logistics side
20:54is very busy.
20:56I've got a friend of mine,
20:57Vinnie Raffa
20:58with Raffa Fields
20:59who's very big
20:59in asparagus.
21:01Just purchased
21:0240 huts
21:02that take out
21:03of Footscray
21:04to Turridon
21:05in a short
21:05amount of time
21:06and we're really
21:07under the pump
21:08this week.
21:08This week's been
21:09absolutely full on
21:10from the delivery side
21:13to maintenance side
21:15to modification side.
21:17It's just crazy.
21:19Absolutely crazy
21:19this week.
21:20These huts are oversized
21:21so they're 3 metres
21:22by 12 metres
21:22so every load's oversized.
21:23There's 40 of them
21:24as I said.
21:25So you've only got
21:26curfew times as well
21:28so trying to throw
21:30as many trucks
21:30as we can on it
21:31because we only have
21:32a short amount
21:32of time to do it
21:33and hopefully
21:34the weather holds
21:34out as well
21:35so if it rains
21:36deep trouble
21:37because we can't
21:38get on on site
21:39and things like that
21:40so that's the only
21:40thing in construction
21:41weather depending.
21:46Vinnie's a very
21:46good friend of mine
21:47and he asked
21:47for some help
21:48and I was gladly
21:49to give him
21:50some advice
21:51how to do it
21:51and we jumped
21:52on board
21:52and went and
21:53did some site
21:54inspections
21:54and make sure
21:55it's all good
21:55and we're on our way.
21:57Yeah so TCB
21:58Desert Doctor
21:58this week
21:59is absolutely crazy
22:00but you know what
22:01it pumps me up
22:02that's what I like
22:03it gives me
22:03adrenaline
22:04and you know
22:05we just do it.
22:13Coming up
22:14we head to Pearl Craft
22:15and get a look
22:16at the new interior
22:17pieces for the
22:18610 Headwork.

23:17project for me
23:18that they're doing
23:18on the 610 SAR
23:19so I'm really excited
23:21to see the progress
23:22TCB and Diesel Doctor
23:23and Pearl Craft
23:24we all team up
23:25and we help each other out
23:26so I'll give them
23:26referrals
23:27they give me referrals
23:28and I like their product
23:29it's absolutely brilliant
23:30I've put them right
23:32through all my equipment
23:32so it just gives
23:34that shine
23:34cool look
23:35so we're down
23:42at Pearl Craft
23:42as you know
23:43I found Pat
23:44he was pretending
23:44to hide down
23:45the back there
23:45somewhere
23:46pretending to be busy
23:46but I don't think
23:47he was doing anything
23:48at all
23:48so come and check
23:49up on my gear
23:50Pat
23:50how you going mate
23:51yeah good mate
23:51self
23:51I'm putting the pressure
23:52on
23:52but I'm coming
23:53uniform Pat
23:54I'm wearing your hat
23:54good man
23:55good man
23:55I'm sure he's
23:56making me pay
23:56for this somewhere
23:57along the line
23:58I'm telling you
23:58it's good
24:02so Pat's going
24:02to show us around
24:03today
24:03and give us
24:04a bit of a tour
24:04of what he does
24:05and how he does it
24:06Dom we're doing
24:07the steering wheel
24:08we're doing the rails
24:09so the 610
24:10has the four rails
24:11front and back
24:11of the cab
24:12and we're also doing
24:14the Eaton extension
24:15Eaton and the extension
24:16and the base cover
24:18on the floor
24:18all in velvet red
24:19and we'll give you
24:20a bit of an rundown
24:20of what we do
24:21but yeah
24:21how we do it's kind of
24:23been a secret
24:23for a long time
24:24but we'll be able
24:24to show you some
24:25sort of before and
24:26afters
24:26and yeah
24:27that's why they call
24:28them the kernel
24:28that's it
24:29alright so
24:42we've got the rails
24:43here
24:43they're just getting
24:44to the stage
24:44of getting ready
24:45to polish
24:45all the heavy lifting
24:47is done
24:47and now we're getting
24:48to the polishing
24:48and clear coating
24:49of the rails
24:50sweet
24:51so how does it all
24:52happen
24:53obviously I gave you
24:54this bare
24:54plastic material
24:56wasn't it
24:56these are metal
24:56so then we prep
24:57it all
24:58ready for us
24:58for our application
24:59and then it's
25:00a hand applied
25:01resin that
25:01encapsulates the rails
25:03then you polish it up
25:04polish it up
25:04yeah
25:04very durable
25:05so once these are
25:06done they'll be
25:06done forever
25:07there's obviously
25:09a lot more stuff
25:09though
25:10there's the steering
25:10wheel and other
25:11equipment
25:11gear knob
25:12yeah so that's
25:14right
25:14so traditionally
25:14it's the steering
25:15wheels
25:15but obviously
25:16the add-on
25:17is the rails
25:18the extensions
25:18we have done
25:19dash panels
25:20but yeah
25:21so what room
25:21is this
25:21we call this
25:22our spray room
25:23since we do
25:23the clear coating
25:24and whatnot as well
25:25we're going to
25:26build another room
25:26over the other
25:27side
25:27which will be
25:27we'll get into
25:28later
25:28which is going
25:29to be for our
25:29resin
25:29we're working
25:31with resins
25:31and I've got
25:31told in my ear
25:33here this is
25:34Paddy's high
25:34so once we finish
25:36lunch
25:36lunch
25:37yeah lunch
25:37we'll be on
25:37hopefully lunch
25:38is ready
25:39and we'll have
25:40a good feed
25:40what do you reckon
25:41Pat
25:41definitely
25:41alright mate
25:42good chance
25:43thank you
25:43I'm joking
25:50we're getting
25:50into polishing
25:51these up
25:51you're getting
25:52into polishing
25:52these up
25:53today
25:53beautiful
25:54getting ready
25:54for Alex
25:55and they'll
25:55sparkle
25:56they will
25:57great product
25:58anyone needs
25:59anything done
25:59steering wheels
26:00grab handles
26:01extensions
26:02extensions
26:03whatever
26:03eatans
26:04these are the
26:04people come
26:04and see
26:05down at
26:05Pakenham
26:05Pearlcraft
26:06see Pat
26:08or his
26:08lovely wife
26:09Sammy
26:09she's probably
26:10the better
26:10half of the
26:11relationship
26:11I gather
26:12and go from
26:13there eh
26:13yep
26:14for sure
26:14beautiful
26:15at
26:24Pearlcraft
26:25we're specializing
26:25in customizing
26:26car and truck
26:27steering wheels
26:27rails
26:28grab rails
26:29for trucks
26:29we do
26:29extensions
26:30for cars
26:31we do
26:31the dash
26:32knobs
26:32window
26:32winder
26:32knobs
26:33things like
26:33that
26:33so
26:33the wheels
26:34are the
26:34main piece
26:35and then we
26:35branch out
26:36into sort
26:36of your
26:37accessories
26:37as well
26:38so Pearlcraft
26:38actually began
26:39back in the
26:4040s
26:40by a gentleman
26:41named Bill
26:41Clark
26:42used to be
26:42called Clark's
26:43Plastics
26:43back then
26:43he had a shop
26:44down in
26:45Mount Alexandra
26:45Road
26:46in Flemington
26:46he ran that
26:47up until
26:48in the mid
26:4970s
26:50where another
26:50gentleman
26:51called Wayne
26:51Buszynski
26:52bought that
26:52off him
26:53and then Wayne
26:53took that
26:54over
26:54and kept
26:55running that
26:56for a while
26:56we ended up
26:57buying that
26:57off him
26:58about 10
26:58years ago
26:59so when we
27:00first started
27:0010 years ago
27:01we purchased
27:01the business
27:01myself and
27:02my wife
27:02Samantha
27:03both had
27:03day jobs
27:04so we did
27:04this as kind
27:05of a side
27:05hustle
27:05we did that
27:06for about
27:07two years
27:07working two
27:08jobs
27:08and then she
27:09went out
27:09and did this
27:09full time
27:12after that
27:12and then
27:13we just
27:13got too
27:14busy
27:14and I
27:15stepped out
27:15of my
27:15day job
27:16to take
27:16over
27:16full time
27:16as well
27:17so I
27:17started off
27:18in a
27:18residential
27:18workshop
27:19and then
27:19on to
27:20bigger and
27:20better
27:21things
27:21moved into
27:21a factory
27:21down here
27:22so we're
27:22located out
27:23in
27:23Packetham
27:23which is a
27:24really good
27:24area for
27:24industrial
27:25areas
27:25yeah
27:26the business
27:26is sort
27:26of split
27:27into two
27:27halves
27:27so you've
27:28got your
27:28classic
27:28custom
27:28cars
27:29so anything
27:29from your
27:3020s
27:30up into
27:31the 60s
27:31so we
27:32will take
27:32off that
27:33particular
27:34style of
27:34wheel
27:34we would
27:35take the
27:35customer's
27:35wheel
27:36we would
27:36restore
27:37that wheel
27:37fix up
27:37any cracks
27:38rebuild
27:38what we
27:39need to
27:39rebuild
27:39and fix
27:40and then
27:40apply our
27:41plasticised
27:41resin
27:42over the
27:42top
27:42so it's
27:43coating
27:43that
27:43encapsulates
27:44the wheel
27:44we started
27:45doing work
27:45for Don
27:46many many
27:46years ago
27:47when I was
27:47working my
27:48daytime job
27:48as well
27:49so we've
27:49had a
27:50long term
27:50relationship
27:51with Don
27:51and over
27:52the years
27:52we've
27:52grown that
27:53relationship
27:53into what
27:54it is
27:54today
27:54and become
27:55mates
27:56keeps me
27:56busy
27:56that's
27:56for sure
27:57it's a
28:01hand applied
28:01resin
28:02and the
28:03process
28:03itself
28:04the bones
28:05of the
28:05process
28:05hasn't
28:06really
28:06changed
28:07over
28:07the 80
28:07years
28:08it's
28:08become
28:09more
28:09show
28:10quality
28:10so more
28:11clear coats
28:12more presentable
28:13back in the
28:14day when
28:14Barky was first
28:15doing wheels
28:16it was more
28:16of a hygiene
28:17thing
28:17so the old
28:18bakelite
28:19truck drivers
28:19would get
28:20black hands
28:20from the
28:21bakelite
28:21so the
28:21pearl coat
28:22or the pearl
28:23resin
28:23would stop
28:24that from
28:24happening
28:25we like to
28:29evolve the
28:30business
28:30and continue
28:30to grow
28:31and try
28:31new things
28:32so we're
28:32actually now
28:33making
28:33our own
28:34truck
28:34steering wheel
28:35so your
28:35classic
28:36four spoke
28:36wheel
28:36so we have
28:37the frames
28:38made here
28:38in Australia
28:39they either
28:39go off to
28:40get chrome
28:40or gold
28:41plated
28:41come back
28:42to us
28:42and then we
28:43resin on
28:43a solid
28:44resin rim
28:44onto that
28:45frame
28:45and then
28:46there's a lot
28:46of work
28:46polishing
28:47bringing that
28:47up to a
28:48completed finish
28:49so the benefits
28:49for that is
28:50it doesn't have
28:50to be a pearl
28:51steering wheel
28:52but the big
28:53benefit is it's
28:53a solid resin
28:54so that wheel
28:55won't wear off
28:56and solid resin
28:57all the way down
28:58to the core
28:58so that way
28:59we can do
28:59translucent colours
29:01blues red
29:01whatever you want
29:02to sort of
29:03colours or we can
29:04do solid colours
29:05we're going to
29:05work on a wood
29:06grain finish
29:06so a resin
29:07wood grain
29:07so give it
29:08that wood grain
29:09look to blend
29:09into the dash
29:10panels and
29:11whatever else
29:11next
29:20young Daniel
29:21Princey
29:22is cutting
29:23and baling hay
29:24in Jambrook
29:33so today we've
29:39come down to Jambrook
29:40and we're
29:43mowing, raking
29:44and baling
29:4450 odd acres
29:45I did all the
29:46mowing by myself
29:47it's a
29:48John Deere 8
29:50320
29:51with a set of
29:52class triples
29:53where the farm
29:54we're at today
29:54it's not very flat
29:56ground
29:56it's on a fair bit
29:57of a hill
29:57you've just got to be
29:58careful when you're
29:59mowing and baling it
30:00we've got two sets of
30:01triples and two big
30:02square balers
30:03and I've been
30:04driving the big
30:05square since I was
30:05about seven years old
30:06always growing up
30:08around it
30:08yeah not many people
30:09can do it
30:10and it does take
30:12a special skill
30:13yeah so the farm's
30:14like on a hill
30:15and then it's got
30:16like a second hill
30:17there's a fair few
30:18different angles
30:19so we're like
30:20an angle
30:20and when you're
30:22mowing it
30:22sometimes the mows
30:23like drag you
30:25to the side
30:25so you can miss
30:26like little hairs
30:27or when you're
30:28baling it
30:29you've just got to
30:29be careful
30:30so you don't
30:31roll the baler
30:32or snow balers
30:33go for a wonder
30:34into the creek
30:35instead of triple
30:36mowers they're
30:36nine metres wide
30:37so you can cut
30:39a fair bit of ground
30:40with that
30:40and then our rake
30:41is another
30:42nine metres
30:43and puts it
30:45into a wind rake
30:46and then our baler
30:47comes in and
30:47bales it up
30:48and leaves it
30:49in rounds
30:50or we've also
30:50got
30:50we've got two
30:52round balers
30:53two big square
30:54balers
30:54so that leaves
30:55them in big squares
30:55and we've got
30:56a little
30:56small square
30:57bale
30:57look it's
31:00a bit steep
31:01nothing to really
31:02stress about
31:03but there's
31:03a bit of
31:04steepness to it
31:04it's a bit bumpy
31:05they used to
31:06grow spuds
31:06here years ago
31:07so it's still
31:08got a bit of
31:08rucks in it
31:09so yeah
31:10just when you're
31:11baling it
31:12you've just got
31:12to be on your
31:13game
31:13so you don't
31:14lose bales
31:15down the hill
31:16in the creek
31:16I mean today's
31:17alright
31:18but sometimes
31:19they'll run away
31:20jump fences
31:21yeah so Daniel
31:29came by himself
31:29he mowed it
31:30like he knows
31:31what to do
31:31he's done it
31:31for a long time
31:32I know he's done
31:33a little
31:33but he's been
31:35doing it for
31:35quite a while
31:36and so Daniel
31:37came up and
31:37mowed it for us
31:38with the
31:39John Deere
31:39and the triples
31:40so they're
31:41conditioned
31:41so we cut
31:42and we condition
31:43the grass
31:44this has mergers
31:45so we could
31:46actually merge
31:47the grass
31:47into a windrow
31:48or we'll just
31:49cut and drop
31:50which Daniel
31:51did
31:51and we came
31:52with the rake
31:52and raked it up
31:53like any farm
31:54kid
31:55boy or girl
31:55they're pretty
31:57capable
31:57you know
31:57either their
31:59cropping
31:59or their hay
32:01production
32:01or their dairy
32:02farm
32:02or whatever
32:03like they're
32:04pretty on it
32:05you know
32:06and safety
32:07they're on to
32:08the safety
32:08side of it
32:09you know
32:09like I'm sure
32:10their parents
32:11and the same
32:11as myself
32:12we really push
32:13the safety
32:13side
32:14because it's
32:14dangerous
32:15so yeah
32:16so look
32:17it's good
32:18but like I
32:19said
32:19there's
32:20I think
32:21any agricultural
32:22anyone in ag
32:23that's growers
32:25you know
32:25from livestock
32:26to cropping
32:27I think
32:28I think their
32:29sons and daughters
32:30would do what
32:31Daniel does
32:31you can't bale hay
32:35with lots
32:36and like
32:37a heap of moisture
32:37because it'll go
32:38mouldy
32:38and the bales
32:39will catch on fire
32:40because they'll
32:41combust and they'll
32:41catch on fire
32:42so you've got to be
32:43in that 12 to 15%
32:45moisture mark
32:46which it was
32:47it was on that
32:48sort of 12%
32:49yeah you've just
32:50got to cut it
32:51sometimes it takes
32:51three four days
32:52sometimes it takes
32:53a week to dry out
32:53this only took
32:54you know
32:55a day or two
32:55and then yeah
32:56rake it and bale it
32:58straight away
32:58yeah just trying to
32:59get in and get out
33:00quick you know
33:01otherwise two balers
33:02is better than one
33:02you know what I mean
33:03so you sort of
33:04get to the next
33:05drive or go home
33:06you know because
33:06it gets too hot
33:07you can't bale either
33:08they can catch on fire
33:10so yeah
33:11so just
33:11you know
33:12teamwork I suppose
33:13so we do a lot
33:15of our own crops
33:16and then we also
33:18contract out
33:19we do a lot
33:20sort of through
33:20the rim around the
33:21mallee
33:21so we've got two
33:23crone high density
33:24balers six stringers
33:25so we do a lot
33:26of large squares
33:28vetch
33:28cereal hay
33:29and whatnot
33:29we run two sets
33:31of triples
33:31so when we're
33:32cutting
33:32cutting crops
33:33down
33:34you've sort of
33:34got a small window
33:35to cut
33:35it's only a real
33:36small window
33:36to do it
33:38so if we're
33:39doing vetch
33:40as soon as it
33:41sort of pods
33:42starts seeding
33:42you've got to cut
33:44otherwise
33:44vetch is grown
33:47for nitrogen
33:48in the soil
33:49so it puts
33:50nitrogen in the soil
33:50so if it pods
33:52and grows seed
33:52it pulls all the
33:53nitrogen back
33:54out of the soil
33:54so it defeats
33:56the purpose
33:56so you've got to
33:57go in and cut
33:58but everyone
33:59plants at the same
34:00time
34:00so if you've got
34:01say three or four
34:02customers
34:02and they want
34:03three or four
34:04thousand acres
34:04done
34:05well it's only
34:06a real small
34:06window
34:07so we run
34:08two triples
34:08we can get in
34:09and get out
34:10real quick
34:10and with the
34:11balers
34:11once it's ready
34:12to go
34:12the crop's
34:13ready to go
34:14we're just
34:14trying to bale
34:15what we can
34:16because it has
34:18to be 15%
34:20moisture
34:21you know
34:21there's not much
34:22variation
34:23big squares
34:23because they will
34:24catch on fire
34:24so sometimes
34:26we might only
34:26have a two
34:27hour window
34:28all day to
34:29bale
34:29so you know
34:31we've got two
34:32balers
34:32and we can do
34:33a fair bit
34:33with them
34:34you know
34:34and the rounds
34:35look the rounds
34:36are pretty
34:36forgiven
34:37you know
34:37you can go
34:38probably 18%
34:39moisture
34:39like no issue
34:41but yeah
34:42we do a bit
34:43of cereal hay
34:43with them
34:43or vetch
34:44but mainly
34:45just pasture
34:46grass
34:46you know
34:46so we've got
34:48quite a few
34:48customers
34:48and just happy
34:49to take it
34:50for their horses
34:50and a few
34:51cattle and whatnot
34:51so yeah
34:52the day drags out
34:54you know what I mean
34:55so you know
34:56the air conditioned
34:57cabs
34:57and it's all good
34:58you know
34:59it's pretty comfy
35:00but end of the day
35:01I mean
35:02you know
35:03you don't want to
35:03sit in them all day
35:04nor night either
35:05you know
35:05if you have to
35:06you will
35:06there's no issue
35:07but in the same token
35:08you know
35:09we can do something
35:09else after this
35:10you know
35:10no no really good
35:11I'm happy with the hay
35:12like you know
35:13it's not too bad
35:14a little bit light on
35:16I thought it would have been
35:17a bit more
35:18but that's okay
35:19we can't get any trucks
35:20in here
35:20like it's
35:21the driveway's too
35:21it's too narrow
35:23it's a bit of a go track
35:24so we're going to have to
35:25take them out
35:26to the top of the
35:27top of the hill
35:29where the road is
35:30and just load them
35:30off the road
35:31so it's going to be
35:32a little bit of a process
35:32too
35:33good process for Daniel
35:35oh gee
35:36I think we've got
35:3664
35:38nah
35:3974 I think it was
35:41and I think
35:41the other one was about
35:4270
35:4375
35:43150 bales
35:45it's not too bad
35:47it's not too bad
35:47where there's good rainfall
35:48like here
35:50we should get
35:518 to 10 bales an acre
35:52you know
35:53should get 8 bales an acre
35:56so the bales we got out today
36:00they can do
36:02multiple sized bales
36:03but today we're baling
36:055 foot bales
36:06with approximately
36:07350 kilos each bale
36:09it's a fair bit of a drop
36:11so you just need to be careful
36:12because yeah
36:14if a bale starts rolling
36:15there's no stopping that
36:16the tractor get into the paddock
36:18was pretty narrow
36:19a couple sharp bends
36:21and just fit the bales
36:22and mowers
36:23and rake down there
36:24millimetres to spare
36:26it's 38 degrees today
36:27and just got to be careful
36:29make sure the grills
36:30and radiators are clean
36:31on the tractors
36:32so they don't overheat
36:34so you obviously have air control
36:35coming up
36:47head mechanic Jesse
36:49from Diesel Doctor
36:50has his hands full
36:51of blown engines
36:52from the TCB fleet
36:54of 65 trucks
36:55we have the engine that blown
37:11this year
37:11and unfortunately
37:13this is not
37:14not repairable
37:16because
37:16as you notice it
37:18we got the two holes
37:19on both sides
37:19of the engine block
37:20in the last couple of months
37:23we've been servicing the trucks
37:24and we've had a bit of our luck
37:26a few engines have come in
37:27that shouldn't sound
37:28how they should
37:29so we just pull them apart
37:31give them a fresh rebuild
37:32and put them back on the road
37:33but it's not one or two
37:35it's a few
37:35so just get them done
37:37that's what keeps the boys busy
37:39they get them in and out
37:40rebuild them
37:41and get them back on the road
37:42in this industry
37:44what we're in
37:44it's just the way it is
37:45the boys do big kilometres
37:47they work hard
37:48and it just happens
37:50what do you do
37:51it's just part of the game
37:52it's not nice
37:54but it is what it is
37:55and everyone's in the same boat
37:56they do what all you do
37:57transport
37:58so when the kilometres come up
38:00that's what happens
38:01things happen
38:01they break down
38:02they just
38:03turn to shit
38:05really
38:05there's all sorts of reasons
38:07why these things go
38:08could be kilometres
38:09they're doing so many kilometres
38:10or just pure bad luck
38:12we've got one
38:13just sitting beside me here
38:14piston went straight through the block
38:15it's got a hole that that big
38:17and that's probably the third one
38:18that's happened
38:18we maintain them
38:19we service them
38:20we tune them
38:21we try to do all the right things
38:22but unfortunately
38:24they break down
38:25so that's the way it is
38:27so I've got a 108
38:34I'm doing up as well
38:35it's been sitting there
38:36so I decided to
38:37jump back on that
38:38and dress it up
38:39how we want
38:39put it on the road
38:40that way it makes operations
38:42the job a little bit easier
38:43more trucks on the road
38:44more freight we cart
38:44and that's the name of the game
38:46this truck here
38:47we're not going overboard
38:48it is a work truck
38:49and it will work
38:50up north as well
38:51so we just want to
38:52dress it up
38:53make it look pretty
38:54but put it on the road
38:55and get it happening
38:56we've still got to make
38:57a TCB truck don't we
38:58so it's going to have lights on it
39:00and this particular truck
39:01I've decided to go
39:02a little bit excited
39:02over the exhaust
39:03so I put a nice
39:0510 inch fat pipes on it
39:06and black as well
39:08so that'll make it stand out
39:09its own personality
39:10and that's what we want
39:11we want every truck
39:12we do have its own personality
39:13even though it's got a TCB brand on it
39:15but it has its own character
39:17so Nicole will be busy
39:18working on that one
39:19and every other truck here
39:20I suppose
39:20with the mechanics
39:21so the good thing is
39:22they all work together
39:23they all communicate
39:24so one thing leads to another
39:26and they all put in
39:27get the truck on the road
39:28this is the Campy pistol grip
39:34I don't really think
39:35it's something that I will use
39:37but I like the fact
39:38that I have the option
39:39I'm pretty sure it just
39:40glides in here somewhere
39:43it's ghosty
39:45so the hook's on underneath it
39:48screw there
39:49just click straight on
39:50you've got all that weight
39:51that you would have typically
39:52on your wrist here
39:53all much more ergonomic
39:56through your arm
39:56and of course you've got the neck
39:58you can rotate to
39:59to whatever position you would like
40:00I've got a toolbox here
40:02I've just got to finish
40:03welding it up
40:04it's going to get put
40:04on the side of a truck
40:05we're always needing toolboxes
40:08I'm just ready to weld
40:09the top end on
40:10and then we're going to put
40:11the front angles on as well
40:14so I can then put a roof on it
40:16I want to make it together
40:18because so far I've been
40:20using the TIG
40:21and it's a very slow process
40:22I feel like I'm going to get
40:24so many more toolboxes done now
40:26I've got this new galley
40:27ready to go
40:28so we're going to weld up
40:29this toolbox
40:29but I think before we do it
40:31I'd like to do a few dry runs
40:33I always like to do dry runs
40:34because the metal is always different
40:37the temperature is always different
40:39there's always
40:39so I just like to make sure
40:41I know what my run's going to look like
40:43so I always like to do a dry run
40:45before I actually start
40:46on my actual piece
40:48especially for something like a toolbox
40:49where it's going to be visible
40:50for everyone to see
40:51every day when it's out
40:52on the truck
40:53so always best to set the machine up first
40:55yeah no pressure
40:56so Genesis Equipment

42:34or obviously metro areas
42:36so every bit of equipment
42:40that you see
42:40within our warehouse here
42:42all goes through
42:43Australian compliance
42:44to break it down
42:45for a workshop
42:46that has a vehicle lift
42:47it's very tight safety factors
42:50that we've got to comply
42:51for the Australian standards
42:52so every one of these
42:54equipments
42:55will get tested
42:56for what we call
42:57Australian design
42:58registration purposes
42:59so we know
43:00that when that vehicle
43:01hoist goes out to our customer
43:02it's not only a great product
43:04and it's reliable
43:05and we have longevity
43:06but it meets
43:07all of the safety factors
43:08for Australia
43:09so anyone then
43:10that's operating this equipment
