00:00Take a flying disc out by C-17.
00:02Among the quiet towns and bustling epicenters around the world,
00:06reports pour in of unusual aerial phenomena.
00:09It shoots high into the air.
00:11It's moving in an erratic way.
00:14This is not a terrestrial craft.
00:17Flying discs, hovering orbs,
00:19strange biological substances falling from the sky.
00:23To determine what it might have been,
00:25you'd have to eliminate all the other possibilities.
00:28The sensational becomes credible once it's crowdsourced.
00:32Thousands of people claim to see these orbs.
00:36UFO hotspots light up on the map.
00:38What's made these places the target of otherworldly attention?
00:42This might be the location of the vortex.
00:45As vessels reappear in the same locations,
00:48can we use the earthly to guess at otherworldly motives?
00:52Are these mysterious visitors friends or foe?
00:55And should we fear their return?
00:57All over the world, repeat sightings of UFOs baffle researchers.
01:02UAP are in our airspace, but they are grossly underreported.
01:05A pattern begins to emerge.
01:07These sightings are not rare or isolated.
01:09They are routine.
01:10What is the meaning behind these hotspots?
01:12I can't go beyond what I've already stated publicly.
01:15The government is not prepared.
01:17Are we being mapped?
01:18Are we being mapped?
01:24February, 2018.
01:28Tensions are running high among the airspace controllers overseeing the Sonoran Desert near Phoenix, Arizona.
01:34A strange, unidentified object has captured the attention of a number of pilots in the area.
01:40A Learjet pilot is the latest to call in.
01:45The FAA seeks assistance from an American Airlines Airbus cruising through the same airspace.
02:00When pressed for an explanation, the FAA issues a cryptic statement revealing they are unable to confirm any details.
02:30The audio recordings of the exchange make international headlines,
02:37and the incident adds to the ever-growing list of UFO sightings over Phoenix, Arizona.
02:44The public is reminded of an aerial anomaly that took place 21 years earlier in the very same area, and is yet to be explained.
02:567.30 p.m. March 13, 1997.
03:00The skies are clear over Phoenix, as stargazer Terry Mansfield hopes to catch a glimpse of the Hale-Bob Comet.
03:10Mansfield is sitting on her patio, overlooking the Paradise Valley near Phoenix,
03:15when a massive object floats into her view, completely obscuring the sky.
03:19This is no comet.
03:22The object, whatever it is, has a shine to it.
03:28She believes she is standing directly beneath some kind of alien craft.
03:34On March 13, 1997, thousands of people are looking upwards to see a comet trailing across the sky.
03:45But what they see is something very different.
03:50Over the next few hours, 10,000 people bear witness to one of the largest mass UFO sightings in history.
03:57They are convinced across four states, California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, that they are seeing something extraterrestrial.
04:10At approximately 10 p.m. the same night, another string of lights appears hovering over Phoenix before disappearing behind the Estrella mountain range, 24 kilometers southwest of the city.
04:23When you look up and you're looking at them, you've got no references around it.
04:29You're seeing it in this big area of space within the stars or the clouds around it.
04:36And so you can't tell how far away it is or where it is.
04:39And you just create an idea of that location and that distance.
04:43But then if they move and they go behind something like the Estrella mountain range when they disappear,
04:48now you have that reference at the mountain range.
04:51You know how far away that is.
04:53And so they can go from an unimaginable height to something a lot closer to the ground and then disappear.
05:00And the only way they can do that in that short period of time is if they go at some insane speed that human aircraft can't go at.
05:08People are now saying that this object has got much, much larger.
05:15It's something like 6,000 feet across and it's moving across the sky.
05:22In the days that follow, police, reporters and even the governor reach out to nearby Air Force bases for an explanation.
05:31None are provided.
05:32The Davis-Monthan Air Force base in Tucson, roughly 201 kilometers southeast of the city,
05:41reports no military maneuvers took place that night, as does Luke U.S. Air Force base, just 32 kilometers from the city.
05:51Militaries are really interested in protecting their technology.
05:55They really don't want foreign bodies knowing what they're doing.
06:00So if the U.S. government or the U.S. military is out testing some technology,
06:06they don't really want it to be in the public space.
06:10Then, four months later, Luke U.S. Air Force base changes its story
06:15and claims it was testing new flare capabilities of its A-10 close support air fleet that night.
06:21I would say that formations of aircraft, obviously military aircraft flying at night,
06:28is an absolutely plausible explanation.
06:31I know that Luke Air Force base is in Phoenix.
06:34They are a very busy airport with lots of different types of aircraft.
06:38It is rare that the military aircraft will do maneuvers at night, especially an A-10.
06:43An A-10 is a ferocious air-to-ground attack aircraft.
06:47However, many witnesses are not satisfied by the military's delayed response.
06:53The explanation that I find the least convincing is the flare theory,
06:57just because flares are very predictable.
07:00They have a certain motion in the sky.
07:03They go up, they fall down, and then, of course, they flare out.
07:06In the hopes of silencing the skeptics, the military decides to recreate the event
07:12by conducting an airdrop test.
07:15However, the display only strengthens public doubt.
07:19The military flare is something that's burning.
07:24It's not like an electric light,
07:26because the purpose of the flare is to generate heat,
07:28and the heat is designed to divert a heat-seeking weapon from hitting the aircraft.
07:36And so there's usually a smoke trail.
07:37They're not just sort of a ball of light, not that I've ever seen.
07:42It's possible.
07:44It may be a different kind of electric flare.
07:46I don't know what that would be for.
07:48I'm sort of at a loss to explain that it could have been a flare,
07:53because the flares I know, they burn.
07:55Now, of course, the public, not only confused, but also slightly suspicious.
08:02Why is it the military has gone from total denial
08:05to now coming out with a series of excuses?
08:09If you're seeing three lights in the sky, and you can sort of say,
08:13oh, yeah, they're all moving the same direction, the same speed,
08:16sure, it absolutely might be, because they're in the same body of atmosphere.
08:22But if you try that same experiment a couple nights later,
08:25this one might drop down a little further and be in a slightly different moving atmosphere,
08:31so it's going to change what it looks like.
08:33And, of course, when you're looking to disprove something,
08:37you're looking at that, any little tiny deviation,
08:40which, of course, you're absolutely going to have,
08:42is going to be proof that, obviously, that thing that happened
08:47those many nights before was completely different than the thing we're seeing right now.
08:51Some suspect the military's evasion over these events
08:55is deliberately designed to protect top-secret information and technology.
09:01It starts off with the explanation itself.
09:04Like, it's easy or easier to believe if somebody says,
09:08well, I didn't tell you that then because...
09:10But the idea that, oh, yeah, they just dropped some flares,
09:15why wouldn't you tell that then?
09:17So the story now doesn't include any reasonable explanation
09:23for why they didn't give the story then.
09:26Strategically situated on the outskirts of Phoenix,
09:29the Luke Air Force Base trained some of the best military pilots in the world
09:33to fly the most advanced military aircraft ever created.
09:37Luke Air Force Base is the largest active U.S. military wing.
09:43That means it has the largest number of aircraft.
09:46Included in this fleet are F-16s and F-35s.
09:50These are modern warfare aircraft.
09:53Luke Air Force Base uses these aircraft to train pilots,
09:57so there's a lot of aircraft activity going on regularly at Luke Air Force Base.
10:02Given the base's long and illustrious history,
10:06it's possible that the Phoenix Lights were, in fact,
10:09part of a top-secret military project.
10:13This wouldn't be the first time that sightings of top-secret government projects
10:17have been blamed on UFOs.
10:19However, witnesses report the UFO's massive size
10:23far exceeds that of any aircraft ever flown.
10:26When we think about the biggest aircraft ever produced,
10:30this aircraft with the largest wingspan ever created
10:34has a wingspan of about 385 feet.
10:39To put that in perspective with what the observers saw,
10:43saying that the aircraft they saw had thousands of foot wingspan,
10:47they're just not on the same scale.
10:49So this clearly isn't a single aircraft that's man-made.
10:54Ten years after the Phoenix Lights event,
10:58an unexpected announcement by the former governor of Arizona
11:02suggests that the secrecy surrounding the episode
11:05may have been less about protecting domestic technology
11:08and more about concealing the activity of unknown entities.
11:13Symington, who was governor of Arizona at that time,
11:17the time of the Phoenix Lights sighting,
11:19ten years later comes back and says
11:23he had indeed seen the Phoenix Lights,
11:25that he was one of the witnesses in that mass sighting,
11:30and that he did not buy the Air Force story,
11:34which he said was not the right explanation for this phenomenon.
11:41Could these be some aerial spycrafts from other countries,
11:44or maybe there's something completely different?
11:49When considering why this area would be such a draw
11:52for extraterrestrial visitors,
11:55thoughts immediately turn to national security
11:58and the Luke Air Force Base.
12:01Here, pilots not only get experience flying
12:03some of the most powerful aircraft in the world,
12:06they also engage in advanced training simulations
12:09where they can train in battlefield maneuvers.
12:14It is basically the cutting edge of aircraft technology,
12:19which is used and experimented and developed over there.
12:24So any foreign power or alien power
12:28would want to keep this area under surveillance.
12:31In fact, Arizona itself is located in a prime location
12:37for anyone wanting to study U.S. defense systems.
12:41Not only is it home to 28 military operation areas,
12:45it lies between Nevada's infamous Area 51 to the north,
12:50California's Edwards Air Force Base to the west,
12:53and New Mexico's White Sands Missile Base to the east.
12:56When I was in the military,
13:00there used to be a publication called Aviation Week,
13:03and I remember my squadron mates being astounded
13:07at the information they would publish.
13:11I remember saying to ourselves, you know,
13:13discussing this and saying,
13:14this is what they're releasing to the public.
13:17What do they got hidden?
13:18I mean, it was amazing what we thought
13:20was very interesting and very advanced technology
13:24that they were releasing to the public.
13:26And we're saying there must be a lot more going on
13:31behind the scenes.
13:36From top secret government facilities
13:39to energetic anomalies
13:40and hundreds of unsolved mysteries related to UFO sightings,
13:45the Grand Canyon State remains veiled in the unknown.
13:49It's simply amazing just how many UFO sightings come out of Arizona.
13:58There is something going on.
13:59It ranks so highly in terms of UFO hotspots in the United States.
14:06So we need to pose the question,
14:08what is going on in Arizona?
14:10There are 28 military operation areas in Arizona
14:16that pilots are told to avoid.
14:18The FAA broadly refers to these locations as special use airspace.
14:24Radar coverage is often unreliable or unavailable in these zones
14:28because of their remote locations and surrounding mountains.
14:31Radar is a line of sight device.
14:38In other words, the radar transmitter
14:40has to have something to bounce off of
14:43and that could be a mountain.
14:45Just like a beam of light,
14:47if someone is beyond a mountain range,
14:50then they're in the shadow of a light,
14:52so they can't be seen.
14:54It's the same thing with radar.
14:56So yeah, low-flying objects behind mountains would be unseen.
15:01While this phenomenon poses a challenge for some aircraft,
15:05for others,
15:06it facilitates the perfect conditions to fly under the radar.
15:10And military sites aren't the only areas
15:13that have seen an increase in unwanted aerial activity.
15:19September 29, 2019.
15:22A cluster of five or six drones
15:25are seen buzzing over a concrete facility
15:2780 kilometers west of Phoenix.
15:30They stay for over an hour before disappearing,
15:33only to return the following night.
15:35When we think about Savannah River and Los Alamos,
15:38these are facilities that were used
15:41to generate nuclear materials for nuclear bombs.
15:44They are sites of intense research
15:48into how to control nuclear reactions,
15:51how to build nuclear reactors.
15:53Having UAPs around these sites
15:55is extremely concerning,
15:57not only to the U.S. military,
15:58but it should be to everybody in general.
16:01The sightings are investigated
16:02by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission,
16:05the FBI,
16:06Department of Homeland Security,
16:08and the FAA.
16:10All we know is that people saw
16:11what they believed to be drones.
16:13And by definition, drones are UFOs.
16:17Despite their efforts,
16:19no one knows who or what deployed the UAVs.
16:23Between 2015 and 2019,
16:26there were 57 reported incursions of drones
16:29into the airspace around nuclear facilities
16:32in the U.S. like Palo Verde.
16:34This is really concerning.
16:35We really don't want people investigating these sites
16:40and figuring out where nuclear materials are
16:43or spying on them
16:44or developing plans to attack them.
16:49Located in an isolated corner of the Arizona desert
16:52is the United States' largest nuclear power plant,
16:56Palo Verde.
16:56It generates enough energy
17:01to power an entire city.
17:04It uses cutting-edge technology.
17:07So if anywhere was going to be of interest
17:10to extraterrestrials,
17:12then it would be Palo Verde.
17:15The plant is a vital source of energy
17:17and the largest power generator in the United States.
17:21If anything were to happen to it,
17:23the consequences would be catastrophic.
17:26Historically, this site has been seen
17:29as a potential target for foreign enemies.
17:32So throughout the Cold War
17:34and even as late as 2003
17:36at the start of the Iraq War,
17:38we're positioning troops at these facilities
17:41to make sure that they're protected
17:43and that they can't be attacked.
17:46This wouldn't be the first time
17:47UFOs have been seen flying over or near nuclear sites.
17:52There have been dozens and dozens of sightings
17:55near nuclear-related places
17:58all over the United States.
18:02Just as human beings are now running from pillar to post,
18:06from Earth to Mars, looking for resources,
18:10any advanced civilization
18:11is also going to be interested and invested
18:15in looking for these types of resources.
18:17Or, on the other hand,
18:19they could also be very, very lethal targets
18:21if they were to be hit by some kind of alien or enemy force.
18:28While Palo Verde would provide a vast source of man-made energy,
18:32local legend suggests that Arizona is also home
18:35to immense sources of natural energy
18:37that could prove even more powerful.
18:40Amidst the rustling leaves of the ancient juniper trees
18:49and the fiery hues of the Sedona Desert in northern Arizona
18:52are tales of a mystical energy
18:55radiating from the desert's red rock.
18:58In modern times,
19:00certain locations in the desert have become beacons
19:03for those hoping to experience
19:04their own close encounters and spiritual awakenings
19:07by being in the presence of alleged energy vortexes.
19:11The Sedona vortex has gained a lot of currency.
19:16The idea is that there is a positive vortex in Sedona,
19:22and the idea is that you can tap into the Earth energy,
19:26and this will change the way you live.
19:29It will change your body for the better.
19:32It will change your mind for the better,
19:34making you more harmonious and more attuned
19:37with the Earth and the environment.
19:40That's the idea of the Sedona vortex.
19:44A massive tourist industry
19:46has grown up around the Sedona vortexes,
19:49as every year visitors flock to the area
19:51to feel the swirly energy that leaves the Earth's crust.
19:56Others join the dozens of UFO tours
19:58that promise an opportunity
20:00to experience first-hand alien encounters.
20:04The evidence that's given for the existence
20:07of this intangible energy in Sedona
20:10is the various ways in which the juniper trees
20:14get bent while growing,
20:16and the idea is it is the patterns of energy
20:19which cause the juniper trees
20:21to bend in particular ways.
20:25And the other thing which is remarkable
20:28about the Sedona vortex
20:31is that it affects the wind patterns sometimes,
20:35and you could experience high wind
20:40and a perfectly calm kind of environment
20:44within a very short span of time in the same place.
20:48In 2010, electrical engineer Benjamin Lontree
20:52attempted to monitor the effect of the Sedona vortex
20:55on the human brain
20:56by hooking up volunteers to EEG machines.
21:01Interestingly, the conclusion of this study
21:03was that there is some measurable degree
21:06of inflow and outflow of energy
21:08which people experience in this area.
21:11People have actually found a type of, like,
21:15magnetic receptor in the brain
21:17that can tell you, like, a compass reading
21:20which way things are going.
21:22And just recently actually found it in humans, too,
21:25that we have these magnetite-type receptors in there.
21:28But are they useful?
21:29Are they meaningful?
21:30Can we actually, like, a compass point to north
21:32in a featureless room?
21:34When you put somebody in a big, like,
21:36round circular room,
21:37you spin it around,
21:38you stop it,
21:39you ask them to tell which way is north?
21:41Not really.
21:41So there's always been this kind of push and pull
21:46to figure out, like,
21:48can we sense things like magnetic fields?
21:52Is this some paranormal phenomenon?
21:55Or are there unknown natural or biological forces at play?
22:00We don't understand the human being
22:02even physically completely, right?
22:06And there's a long history of the evolution
22:07of the human being.
22:08So maybe at some point we were more attuned to the Earth.
22:14We were more attuned to the forces of the Earth,
22:18like geomagnetism.
22:21So when we go to places like Sedona,
22:25which have, whether it's because of the high concentration
22:28of iron or because of the vortex,
22:31these residual ancestral kind of abilities get triggered,
22:36they get activated,
22:38and this is why people are able to have these experiences
22:40in places like Sedona.
22:43New Age theorists believe the energy sources
22:46stem from something supernatural
22:48that was brought here from outer space.
22:51There's a widely believed theory
22:53that aliens in ancient times,
22:57a long time ago,
22:58came to Sedona and other places
23:00and buried crystals that generate energy under the ground.
23:06And that's what's causing this vortex-like phenomenon
23:10in the area.
23:11Now, geologists have said
23:13there are no such crystals,
23:15no evidence of anything like this
23:18under the ground in the area or any other area.
23:21An alternate theory suggests
23:24nothing has been discovered
23:25because there is no collection
23:27of powerful materials emitting energy.
23:30Instead, these vortexes are caused
23:32by interdimensional portals
23:34that can neither be seen nor measured
23:36by our earthly instruments.
23:39For those who believe in the wormhole theory,
23:43they see Sedona as a kind of lighthouse
23:46attracting aliens from across the universe.
23:51emitting a beam, as it were,
23:53that's bringing in UFOs.
23:58One of the earliest documented UFO sightings
24:01in Sedona occurred in 1947
24:03when an unidentified individual
24:06reported seeing flying disks in the sky
24:08and a large ball of blue light.
24:11The official report described the flying disk
24:14as a spinning top.
24:16The incident caught the attention
24:17of the FBI and the Air Force,
24:19prompting an investigation
24:21with no confirmed results.
24:25Could the Sedona vortexes
24:27be a beacon guiding UFOs
24:29to an unlimited energy supply
24:31in the middle of the Arizona desert?
24:33Or is there any evidence to suggest
24:35that they are some kind of portal
24:37to another dimension?
24:38Maybe what's causing it
24:42is what Einstein called a wormhole,
24:46a kind of interdimensional portal
24:50through space and time
24:52that could be linking Sedona
24:54to a whole different part of the universe
24:56and even a whole different time period
24:59beyond our perception,
25:01that this is a corridor,
25:03the entrance to a corridor in our universe.
25:07If a wormhole existed on Earth,
25:10I can promise you we would know about it.
25:13So chances are it's, you know,
25:16impossible to think of a wormhole existing on Earth
25:19and us not being aware of it.
25:21You know, a wormhole would be a pretty significant,
25:24or a vortex, as you say,
25:26it would be a pretty significant event in space-time
25:29and that would distort space-time.
25:33And so we would definitely be able
25:35to pick up on something like that on Earth.
25:411992.
25:42It is evening on the peaceful Bradshaw Ranch
25:45on the outskirts of Sedona.
25:47Linda Bradshaw is walking around her property
25:50when a huge and bright light
25:52appears in the sky above her.
25:54It remains overhead for only a few seconds.
25:57This isn't her first encounter
25:59with the otherworldly glow.
26:01It appeared in this very spot
26:03just a few days ago,
26:04and this time, she's ready.
26:07Bradshaw has enough time to snap photographs
26:10before the lights disappear.
26:12The pictures, taken on 35mm film,
26:15reveal an enormous rectangular light
26:18in the night sky.
26:20Bradshaw Ranch has become famous,
26:22even infamous,
26:24for the amount of paranormal activity
26:27and UFO sightings on this ranch.
26:31It was once owned by a movie star.
26:34It's become famous in modern times, though,
26:37not for that connection,
26:39but for its connection to things
26:41that come from somewhere beyond planet Earth.
26:45In her book,
26:46Linda describes frequent encounters
26:49with strange alien gray-like entities,
26:52dinosaurs,
26:53repeated sightings of Sasquatch,
26:55and other unexplained phenomena
26:57starting in the early 90s.
27:00Bob and Linda would have friends over,
27:03and they would see UFOs,
27:05certainly lots of sightings of various kinds,
27:09but not just sightings themselves,
27:11but actual encounters
27:12with all kinds of strange phenomena,
27:15UFO saucers,
27:17but also reportedly cryptids
27:19or very strange animals
27:21that they didn't recognize
27:22or didn't recognize to be from the region.
27:26The Bradshaws believe aliens,
27:29along with other cryptids,
27:31are able to visit the ranch
27:32through an interdimensional portal
27:34that enables lifeforms
27:36to freely travel
27:37from one dimension to another,
27:38something similar to the portals
27:40believed to be present
27:42at the Sedona Vortex points.
27:47As with most alien encounters,
27:50aside from some photos
27:51taken by the family
27:52and their documented firsthand accounts,
27:54there is no scientific evidence
27:56to support their claims.
27:58There's a strange turn
28:09in the story of the Bradshaw Ranch.
28:12In 2003,
28:13the US government acquires it
28:16using some or other instrument.
28:18It takes over the ranch.
28:20Now, the government claims
28:22that this is for a climate study,
28:25but there's a lot of security,
28:27a lot of fencing,
28:28nobody allowed in,
28:30no evidence of a study
28:31ever actually happening,
28:33certainly no findings,
28:34nobody's allowed into the ranch,
28:37and yet, up to this day,
28:39the government controls the ranch,
28:42it's sealed off,
28:43and who knows what's going on there.
28:46Conspiracy theorists
28:47believe this is a clue
28:49that the government
28:49took control of the ranch
28:51to protect a huge
28:52and remarkable discovery.
28:54There's so much mystery
28:57surrounding what the US government
28:59has done to the Bradshaw Ranch
29:02that many believe
29:03the real reason for a takeover
29:05is that there is a portal
29:08on the ranch
29:09that the government
29:11wanted to seize control of,
29:13a portal to other dimensions,
29:16and it certainly doesn't want
29:18the public or casual visitors
29:20turning up to have a look
29:22into the portal.
29:24Archaeological evidence
29:26in another ranch
29:28in nearby Winslow, Arizona,
29:30suggests these UFO sightings
29:31in Arizona
29:32date back thousands,
29:34if not millions, of years.
29:35The thing I like about Arizona
29:39in general is that
29:40there just remain
29:42many questions unanswered.
29:44There's lots of sightings,
29:45there's a very strange
29:47alien-looking landscape
29:48with a lot of difference in it,
29:51and the interesting thing
29:53is that we have
29:54lots of authorities,
29:55we have lots of scientists
29:55who study that region,
29:57they study the state,
29:58they study a lot
30:00of the natural phenomena there,
30:01and nevertheless,
30:03it remains a bit of a mystery.
30:06The appropriately named
30:08Rock Art Ranch
30:09is about 5,000 acres,
30:12it's a cattle ranch,
30:13and the reason it has that name
30:15is that it's one of the best areas
30:20for ancient petroglyph art.
30:24There's simply loads of it
30:26made by ancient peoples
30:28on the rocks in that area.
30:31These etchings,
30:32which date between
30:336,000 and 14,000 BCE,
30:36were left behind
30:37by some of the earliest
30:38humanoid inhabitants
30:40in the area
30:40as ways to share stories
30:42and document what they observed.
30:44What really grabs your attention
30:46with these petroglyphs
30:48is that you have
30:49images of people,
30:51images of animals,
30:53but then you have
30:55images of beings
30:56that are humanoid
30:58but are much bigger
30:59than the other humans
31:01and have rather
31:02oddly shaped heads.
31:06Now, one of the explanations
31:07for these images
31:09could be what's often described
31:10as the ancient alien theory,
31:13namely that extraterrestrial beings,
31:17for whatever reason,
31:18have been visiting us
31:20for a very long time
31:22and that they came
31:24to our ancestors
31:25possibly even shaping
31:27our civilization
31:29and our destiny.
31:33While the ancient astronaut theory
31:35is entirely unproven,
31:36it would help make sense
31:38of how ancient people
31:39in places across the globe
31:40share similar images
31:42and stories
31:43without even being able
31:44to communicate.
31:45Could the abstract beings
31:48depicted in the petroglyphs
31:50at Rock Art Ranch
31:51be records of extraterrestrial
31:53visitors on Earth?
31:55If so,
31:56what could they have been monitoring
31:58all those years ago,
32:00before the invention
32:01of military warplanes
32:02or nuclear energy,
32:04when the world and humanity
32:05were far less advanced?
32:07If we think about the places
32:10that UFO phenomena
32:12are drawn to,
32:14it seems that they're drawn
32:15to places which are
32:17either natural resources
32:18or man-made resources
32:22like nuclear fuel.
32:24They seem to also be keeping tabs
32:27on surveilling,
32:29as it were,
32:30military sites,
32:31which could be significant.
32:33But these UFO phenomena
32:34then are also drawn
32:36to places which have
32:38a spiritual significance
32:40for human beings
32:41like Sedona,
32:43where there is no real
32:45military activity,
32:47but the phenomena
32:49are still drawn there.
32:51The reasons for that
32:52could be that there's
32:53something significant
32:56about this place
32:57on a cosmic
32:58or on a larger scale.
33:01Or they have some kind
33:03of connection to this place.
33:06Arizona's vast desert canvas
33:09bears an ancient scar.
33:11A celestial mark
33:12left 50,000 years ago,
33:15the Beringer Meteor Crater.
33:18Widely accepted
33:19as the most well-preserved
33:21meteor impact crater
33:22on the planet,
33:23it was created 50,000 years ago
33:26when a meteorite smashed
33:27into the Colorado Plateau,
33:29causing a giant pit
33:30174 meters deep
33:33and 1,250 meters across.
33:37Enough room
33:37for 20 football fields.
33:39And the impact
33:40of these meteors
33:43hitting Earth,
33:45you know,
33:45the material
33:46that hit the Earth
33:48likely brought with it
33:49what we call volatiles.
33:51And volatiles
33:52are ingredients
33:53that we think
33:54may have played
33:55a really important role
33:56in the development
33:56of life on Earth.
33:58So one way
33:59of thinking about this
34:00is maybe
34:01we've all come from space.
34:04If there is life
34:05beyond our world,
34:07would some extraterrestrial
34:08stargazers
34:09be able to witness
34:10this event from space?
34:13I mean,
34:13it depends on
34:14what we're looking at.
34:15So for example,
34:16outer space
34:17is really, really dark.
34:18And so if we were
34:19just orbiting the Earth,
34:20we would maybe
34:21probably not be able
34:23to see a space rock
34:24passing right past us.
34:26But as these space rocks
34:27enter the Earth's atmosphere,
34:29they become really,
34:30really heated
34:30and hot
34:31and glow
34:32and burn
34:32and break apart.
34:34And so that kind of process
34:36would be something
34:36that would be quite bright
34:37and I expect something
34:38we'd be able to see.
34:41The Beringer Meteor Crater
34:43is by no means
34:44the oldest on Earth.
34:45However,
34:46it provides us
34:47with an interesting
34:48point of study.
34:49Just as we're looking
34:51towards planets
34:51and asteroids
34:52to mine resources,
34:54maybe extraterrestrials
34:56are also doing
34:56the same to Earth.
34:58While our scientists
34:59investigate its effects
35:01on our planet,
35:02could advanced civilizations
35:03from beyond the stars
35:05be interested
35:06in doing their own research?
35:08If you ask me
35:10whether or not
35:10I think life exists
35:12beyond Earth,
35:13I would tell you,
35:14yes,
35:14it almost certainly does.
35:16And the reason for that,
35:17the argument for that
35:18is a statistical one.
35:19So if we look
35:20at our own Milky Way galaxy,
35:24right?
35:25So there's hundreds
35:26of billions of stars
35:27in our own Milky Way
35:28and we think that's
35:28pretty typical
35:29for a galaxy.
35:30As we move out,
35:32there are roughly,
35:33you know,
35:34trillions of galaxies
35:35in the observable universe.
35:37And one thing we know
35:38in just our little bit
35:39of exploration we've done
35:40in our own galaxy
35:41is that planets
35:42are common.
35:44And on average,
35:45we observe about one planet
35:46for every star.
35:48So if you put all
35:48of this together
35:49and assume that,
35:51yeah,
35:51chances are
35:52that not all planets
35:53are hospitable to life.
35:55There's still millions
35:56of opportunities
35:57for life within
35:58our own galaxy
35:59and that's not
36:00even counting
36:01the other galaxies
36:01there are in the universe.
36:06In the heart
36:07of the Arizona desert,
36:08nature has carved
36:09a masterpiece
36:10that transcends
36:11time itself.
36:12this scale
36:15of the Grand Canyon
36:16becomes really apparent.
36:18It is truly immense.
36:19It is exceptionally deep.
36:22And on top of that,
36:24above the canyon
36:25are mountains as well.
36:26So when you're standing
36:27in the bottom
36:28of the Grand Canyon,
36:30you have this impression
36:32of immensity,
36:33of how small you are
36:35in relation to this
36:37huge landscape
36:39that stretches above you.
36:40so you really feel
36:42like you're
36:43in the earth,
36:45like you're part
36:46of the geologic
36:49structures around you.
36:51The Grand Canyon
36:52is 277 miles long
36:54and more than a mile deep.
36:57While it's one
36:58of the best places
36:59on earth
37:00to view a continuous
37:01geological record,
37:03there appears to be
37:04a significant missing piece
37:05of the puzzle,
37:06one that has baffled
37:07scientists for years.
37:10Obviously,
37:11geologists have taken
37:12a huge interest
37:14in the Grand Canyon
37:15for 100 years or more.
37:19And there is this missing gap,
37:21the unconformity,
37:23for which there doesn't seem
37:25to be a rational explanation.
37:27There's clearly
37:28some kind of seismic incident,
37:31but could there have been
37:32some kind of galactic incident?
37:37In 2001,
37:39geologists from
37:40the University of Colorado
37:42theorized that
37:43the Great Unconformity
37:44occurred because
37:46of a huge upheaval event.
37:48Basically,
37:49what happened,
37:50there was a huge uplift
37:51in the earth
37:52that caused
37:53all the sediments
37:54on the ocean floor
37:55to be washed
37:56further out in the ocean,
37:58leaving this time period
38:00with no evidence
38:01of sedimentary rocks.
38:03So for geologists,
38:05the great upheaval
38:06that led
38:07to the Great Unconformity
38:08is really an unknown.
38:10It's a mystery
38:10that they still have to solve.
38:13Some believe
38:13that the Great Unconformity
38:15is evidence
38:16that the Grand Canyon
38:17is yet another alien corridor
38:19nestled in the desert state,
38:21one that has been visited
38:23by extraterrestrials
38:24time and time again.
38:27On April 5th, 1909,
38:29the Arizona Gazette
38:31featured an article
38:32detailing a fantastic discovery
38:34made in the Grand Canyon.
38:36An explorer and academic
38:38by the name of G.E. Kincaid
38:40embarks on a journey
38:41along the Colorado River
38:43seeking materials
38:44when an unusual
38:45sedimentary formation
38:47captures his attention.
38:50Kincaid stumbles
38:51upon a hidden entrance
38:53which unveils
38:54a wondrous labyrinth
38:55of honeycomb tunnels
38:56that appeared
38:57to have been fabricated
38:58by someone
38:59or something.
39:02The tunnels
39:02were filled
39:03with gold urns,
39:04sophisticated tools
39:06and ancient artifacts
39:07surrounded by hieroglyphs
39:09and iconography
39:10reminiscent of Hindu
39:11and Egyptian cultures.
39:13Only later
39:14did it become apparent
39:16that this was the result
39:17of a fevered imagination
39:18and a desire for fame
39:20rather than an actual
39:21archaeological discovery.
39:23Even though the Kincaid story
39:26turned out to be
39:28a complete hoax,
39:30it nevertheless
39:31sparked interest
39:32in the idea
39:34of another world
39:36underneath the floor
39:38or the walls
39:39of the Grand Canyon.
39:41Could there be
39:42some kind of evidence
39:45of intergalactic activity
39:49in the canyon
39:50that is yet
39:51to be discovered?
39:54Online,
39:55alternative researchers
39:56continue to claim
39:57that within the Grand Canyon
39:59National Park
40:00lies a designated
40:01forbidden zone
40:02strictly prohibiting
40:03hiking,
40:04camping
40:04or exploration.
40:06Believers speculate
40:07about covert surveillance
40:09by shadowy branches
40:10of the federal government
40:11overseeing the entire region.
40:15In many of the national parks
40:17in the United States,
40:19there are blocked off areas,
40:22forbidden zones,
40:23if you want,
40:24where people are
40:25ordered not to go.
40:28Now, the Grand Canyon
40:29is no exception.
40:31There are areas
40:31where the public
40:32cannot go.
40:34Now, that may be
40:35for our own safety,
40:36it may be because
40:37there are security concerns,
40:40but, of course,
40:40many believe
40:41that there is something
40:43in these zones
40:45that the government
40:46doesn't want us to see.
40:48Adding to the suspicion
40:50is the legislation
40:51enacted in 1987,
40:53which imposes
40:54airspace restrictions
40:55over the canyon,
40:57a regulation shared
40:58with only two other
41:00national parks in America,
41:02Yosemite
41:02and Haleakala,
41:05areas of great
41:06natural resource
41:07and geological significance.
41:09One thing I like
41:12to keep in mind
41:12when we try
41:14to fathom
41:15what could possibly
41:16be motivating
41:17an extraterrestrial species
41:19to take an interest
41:20in our planets
41:22or the resources
41:23or the elements
41:24that we have
41:25on our planet
41:25or even in the
41:26solar system nearby
41:28is the fact
41:29that we also
41:30take an interest
41:31in these things.
41:32We send out craft,
41:34we send out rovers
41:35to other planets,
41:37other bodies
41:38in the solar system
41:39to see what could
41:41potentially be mined,
41:42what we could use
41:43for ourselves.
41:44And so if there is
41:45another species
41:46out there
41:47that is close enough
41:49and is taking
41:49an interest in us,
41:50it might be for much
41:51the same reasons
41:52that maybe we have
41:54elements or something
41:55that are of use
41:57to them
41:57even if we don't
41:58necessarily recognize
41:59it ourselves.
42:01Arizona stands
42:02as a tapestry
42:03of unexplained events
42:04which have blurred
42:05the boundaries
42:06between fact and fiction.
42:08Whether it's lights
42:09in the night sky,
42:11bizarre disappearances
42:12or inexplicable phenomena,
42:15the reality
42:15of these encounters
42:16cannot be fully dismissed.
42:19There's so much
42:21variety in the geology
42:23of Arizona
42:24and there's so much
42:25strangeness
42:27in the geology
42:28of Arizona
42:28that it would not
42:30be surprising
42:31that an extraterrestrial
42:32intelligence is drawn
42:34to that place
42:34there's also
42:35a lot of desert
42:37with no people
42:39out there
42:39to interfere
42:40with any kind
42:41of exploration
42:42or any other
42:44type of activity.
42:45So there is
42:46a certain mystery
42:47about Arizona
42:48given its geography
42:50and so forth.
42:52Arizona is geologically
42:54very interesting
42:56and that might be
42:57fascinating to aliens
42:58but it's also rich
43:01in military bases
43:03and this undoubtedly
43:04could be something
43:06that aliens
43:07want to surveil.
43:09So in terms
43:10of explaining
43:11why Arizona
43:12is such a major
43:15UFO hotspot,
43:16all the elements
43:18are there.
43:2099% of history
43:21is just simply
43:22lost to us
43:23and studying
43:24deep geological time
43:26in particular
43:27is one really good
43:28way to figure out
43:30how did we get here,
43:31how did we evolve
43:32to the place we are
43:33and I think frankly
43:34holds a lot of answers
43:35and explanation
43:36for the UFO phenomenon
43:37that we wouldn't
43:40necessarily assume
43:41that lights in the sky
43:42are in any way
43:43related to rock formations
43:46in Arizona
43:47but I think there's
43:48actually quite
43:48interesting connections
43:50there that have
43:50really yet to be
43:51uncovered.
43:53Much of the work
43:54that we're doing
43:54to try and understand
43:55whether or not
43:56life is out there
43:57takes place
43:58pretty close to Earth.
44:00We do it using
44:01telescopes,
44:02observations from Earth
44:03or from space
44:05but one other way
44:07in addition to using
44:08our eyes and ears
44:09is in actually
44:11sending spacecraft out
44:12to explore
44:13new places
44:14in the solar system
44:15and potentially beyond
44:16in the future
44:17and so one example
44:18of that is
44:19the rovers
44:20that we've sent
44:20to Mars
44:21and what they've
44:22been able to do
44:23is take little samples
44:24from the surface
44:25of Mars itself
44:25and actually analyze it
44:27and send that data
44:28back to us
44:29and that's given us
44:30an unprecedented look.
44:32Scientists,
44:33archaeologists
44:34and even the FAA
44:35have admitted
44:36that there are things
44:37happening in Arizona
44:38that we simply
44:40don't understand.
44:42Until we do,
44:43the causes
44:44of these phenomena
44:45by definition
44:46remain alien to us.
