00:00In this video, we will dive into the story of the Drowned from Earth-11, a world where

00:05all heroes and villains are gender-swapped and a Batwoman with the powers of Aquawoman.

00:10The dark origins of the Drowned were revealed in Dark Nights, the Drowned issue number one.

00:16Our story begins on Earth-11, a world where humanity's war with metahumans raged across

00:21the globe. But now, a new war was beginning, this time with Atlantis, led by Aquawoman,

00:28the Queen of the Seven Seas. She told the surface world that she sought peace between land and sea.

00:35Bryce Wayne, Gotham's Batwoman, had been hunting rogue metahumans all her life,

00:40ever since the death of her true love, Sylvester Kyle. Bryce did not believe Aquawoman's claim of

00:46peace. Her mission was clear, to rid the world of metahumans, no matter the cost. Leading the charge

00:53in her Bat-submarine, Batwoman battled against Aquawoman and her Atlantean army. The two clashed

00:59beneath the waves. At last, Batwoman seized Aquawoman's trident and used it to kill the

01:05Queen of the Seven Seas. But the death of Aquawoman did not end the war. The ocean retaliated and

01:12Atlantean warriors unleashed towering waves, flooding cities across the world, including Gotham. Batwoman

01:19responded to this attack by experimenting on herself, injecting her body and fusing her DNA

01:25with that of her enemies. Her lungs transformed, her body mutated, and her strength multiplied.

01:32In a shocking reveal, she emerged from the abyss, no longer Batwoman, but something more monstrous.

01:39She was reborn as a drowned. With her transformation came a new horror. She raised her hands,

01:45and from the seas emerged the dead waters, drowned corpses of Atlanteans twisted into obedient soldiers.

01:51Her army swelled, sweeping across the ocean floor. They tore through Atlantis,

01:57slaughtering its people and corrupting them into more dead waters. At last, Bryce stood triumphant

02:03atop the ruins of Atlantis. But her earth itself lay in ruin, drowned by her own war, from the wreckage

02:09of her world. She saw a signal, a lone light clinging to endless dark waters. It was here that the Batman

02:17who laughs appeared. He reached out to her, offering not salvation, but purpose, a chance to fight against

02:24the light. He asked her to join his dark nights, and she accepted. The scene shifts to Earth, Zero,

02:31the multiverse's brightest center. On a quiet day in Amnesty Bay, Aquaman's home,

02:36the drowned emerged from the ocean, under orders from the Batman who laughs. She attacked Amnesty Bay.

02:43She unleashed her dead waters upon the town, swarming onto the shore. The army was so powerful

02:49that massive waves rose from the ocean, submerging the city. The city crumbled beneath the assault.

02:56The drowned walked through the sunken streets, admiring her work. But then, Aquaman and Mera stood

03:02against the tide. Arthur attacked with his shark, but the drowned killed in a flash,

03:07then moved so quickly that Aquaman's strike missed. She struck him from the side, sending him crashing

03:13back with a powerful blow. Mera's aquikinesis had no effect on the drowned. Shocked, Mera realized the

03:20water no longer obeyed her command, and the drowned declared that the seas answered to her alone. The

03:26drowned was unstoppable. Her body had adapted perfectly to the waters, her strength overpowering their

03:32defenses. She unleashed her dead waters upon Aquaman and Mera. Surrounded, Arthur urged Mera to escape

03:40and warn the Justice League. But it was too late. The drowned seized Mera. In a chilling reveal,

03:46her body twisted and transformed into another dead water soldier. As the corrupted Mera rushed toward her

03:52husband, ready to strike him down. Aquaman cried out her name in anguish, his face filled with horror.

04:00Then, Dr. Fate intervened with a burst of golden light. He tore Arthur from the drowned's grasp.

04:07The magic whisked him away, leaving Bryce staring in fury at the empty sea. Standing atop the lighthouse,

04:13she vowed that Aquaman would suffer more, and that his world would drown just as hers once did.

04:19Thus ends the origin of the drowned. But the War of the Dark Knights is far from finished.

04:25Next, we meet the Merciless.

04:27In today's video, we uncover the dark origin of the Merciless from Earth-12, a world where Batman

04:51seizes the power of a Greek god and transforms into the god of war himself. The Merciless origins were

04:56revealed in Batman, the Merciless No. 1. Our story begins on Earth-12, where war consumed the world.

05:04The god of war, Ares, reforged his helmet, amplifying his power a hundredfold. With this weapon,

05:12he waged a conflict that lasted two years and killed most of humanity. In the heart of this war,

05:18Batman was on his knees with Wonder Woman lying dead in his arms. On this Earth, they were not just allies,

05:25but lovers. Losing Diana brought Bruce to scream at the heavens in agony. He looks over the battlefield.

05:32Bodies of human soldiers, Amazon warriors, and demons lay motionless on the blood-soaked ground.

05:38The only thing still standing was Ares, the god of war. Bruce shouts at Ares,

05:44telling him that he will pay for what he has done. Ares mocks Batman, stating that his army is dead,

05:50and questions who he thinks he is to challenge the god of war. Batman seized Ares' helmet,

05:55and placed it on his head. The helmet transformed the Dark Knight into an armored warrior,

06:00and christened himself with the name of the Merciless. He kills Ares, then turned his attention to Olympus,

06:08killing all the gods and destroying the home of the gods. Then over the silence, he heard a voice,

06:14a voice that he recognized. The Batman who laughs arrived on the scene. He tells the Merciless that his

06:20world will be destroyed by the Dark Multiverse. The Batman who laughs offers the Merciless a world where

06:26he can continue his war on humanity. The Merciless, with nothing left to lose, followed him, and so,

06:34he became one of Barbados' chosen Dark Knights. In Washington, on Earth, Zero, the heads of security

06:40agencies gathered to decide their next move. General Sam Lane argues for the use of Valhalla,

06:46a doomsday weapon that was created to deal with rogue, super-powered beings. Steve Trevor pleads for

06:52restraint, begging the General not to sacrifice millions of lives. Just then, the Merciless arrived.

06:59He attacks the squad of soldiers. They fire everything they had at him, but his armor protected him

07:04without a scratch. He attacks with brute force, swinging his flaming sword at them, burning their

07:10flesh, leaving nothing but blood and bones. General Lane tries to order Valhalla to be fired directly

07:18on Washington. Trevor protests. He grabs General Lane, preventing him from making the order. Trevor

07:25punches Lane to ground. As he prepares for a beatdown, Amanda Waller and Mr. Bones pull their guns on him.

07:33Waller admits that losing a few million people is better than losing a billion. In space,

07:39above Earth's orbit, a space shuttle receives the orders to fire Valhalla. They fly the shuttle back

07:45into Earth's atmosphere. Back in Washington, the Merciless finds a war room. He mocks them,

07:52stating that they call themselves warriors of war, but waste their time fighting amongst themselves.

07:58Above the chaos, the shuttle flies over Washington. The shuttle crew drops Valhalla. Once it hits,

08:05it causes a massive explosion, destroying everything in its path. But the weapon couldn't destroy the

08:12Merciless. Instead, the crew noticed that the explosion was somehow absorbed. They looked out

08:18the cockpit window and saw the Merciless sitting on a makeshift throne. He carves a picture of

08:24Wonder Woman on a piece of rock with General Lane, Amanda Waller, Mr. Bones, Father Time,

08:30and Steve Trevor bowed in front of him. He remembers that before he destroyed Earth-12,

08:35he found out that Wonder Woman wasn't dead, only stunned. She tried to remove the helmet off Bruce's

08:41head. And he struck her down. He looks at Steve Trevor, knowing that he had feelings for Diana.

08:47He grabs him and holds him up, ready to kill Steve Trevor. But this is where the Merciless

08:52origins come to an end. But his story is not over yet. Stay tuned for the next member of the Dark
