Protests erupted across Dhaka after the death of popular student leader Sharif Osman Hadi, with angry crowds torching newspaper offices, including Prothom Alo and the Daily Star. Hadi, 32, was shot in the head by masked assailants while campaigning for elections and later died in Singapore after six days on life support. Videos circulating on social media showed mobs vandalizing media offices as protesters chanted Hadi’s name, demanding swift justice. Police and paramilitary forces were deployed to prevent further violence, but several areas of the capital remain tense.
