00:00David Fincher, the same guy who directed Fight Club, House of Cards, and Gone Girl has some advice for aspiring filmmakers.
00:07Shut the f**k up and sit down.
00:09I don't know whether to be proud or terrified.
00:12Don't get too excited, Frank. There's more to it.
00:14In an interview with Fincher Fanatic, he described his ideal film school lecture like this.
00:19You go in and you say, you, stand up, tell me what your film is going to be about.
00:23And then they start and you go, shut up, sit the f**k down.
00:26I thought there might be another side to this story.
00:28Hold on Ben, there is.
00:29Fincher's point is, don't follow that advice.
00:32He says, the film business is filled with shut up and sit the f**k down.
00:36You gotta be able to tell your story in spite of it.
00:39And hey, if that's David Fincher's advice, I'd take it.
00:42Remember, this is the guy who made a film about an ass-kicking soap salesman.
00:47Soap. I make and I sell soap.
