UBS says global AI capex is surging, pressuring Big Tech balance sheets as spending heads toward $1.3T by 2030. Firms are using different strategies, from strong cash flow funding to off-balance-sheet structures and massive lease commitments.

00:02Global AI capital spending is accelerating and is beginning to pressure big tech balance sheets,
00:07according to UBS. The investment bank expects Global AI CapEx to reach $423 billion in 2025
00:14and $571 billion in 2026, climbing to $1.3 trillion by 2030.
00:22Alphabet holds nearly $100 billion in cash against just over $20 billion in debt
00:28and generated about $48 billion in operating cash flow in one quarter, allowing it to fund AI internally.
00:35Microsoft holds a strong balance sheet with a net cash position and solid free cash flow,
00:40allowing it to increase AI spending while remaining comfortably covered by cash generation.
00:46Meta is financing its $27 billion Hyperion AI data center through a special-purpose vehicle backed by Blue Owl Capital,
00:53allowing it to use all the compute while keeping the related debt off its balance sheet.
00:57Oracle plans to rent data centers with $248 billion in long-term lease obligations,
01:04while also expecting to spend about $300 billion on GPUs over five years
01:08and more than double CapEx to $50 billion this fiscal year.
