00:00For many Filipinos, firecrackers are a tradition during every New Year celebration.

00:05But with its relative danger, several residents have decided to instead use alternative noise-producing instruments.

00:13The Department of Health, or DOH, also reminded the public on the hazards posed by firecrackers.

00:20According to the Bureau of Fire Protection, or BFP,

00:23almost 40 firecracker-incited fire incidents happened during the holidays last year.

00:29Citing over 200 million pesos in total damages.
