00:00Proceedings in a drug case involving controversial rapper Naim Wee at two Kuala Lumpur magistrates' courts were postponed after the musician fell ill.
00:14His lawyer, Joshua Tay, told magistrates Atika Mohammed at Mohammad Saim and S. Aranjothi on Thursday that Naim Wee, whose real name is Wee Mang Chi, had contracted influenza A.
00:25Tay said the bailer had submitted a three-day medical certificate and medical report from a private hospital and requested a new mention date.
00:48The courts then fixed December 22 and January 19 for mention, respectively. Naim Wee, 42, was charged on October 24 with two offences, possession of ecstasy and self-administration of drugs, which included amphetamine and methamphetamine.
01:05He is accused of possessing 5.12 grams of ecstasy in a hotel room on the 55th floor of a building along Jalan Conley at about 4.30 p.m. on October 22.
01:16He was also charged with self-administering drugs at the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department toilet at the Dong Wangi District Police Headquarters at about 7.15 p.m. the same day. Naim Wee is out on 4,000 ringgit bail.
