00:00Hey guys, Jeff the Nature Guy here at Zoo Montana for San Diego Zoo, and I am so excited to introduce you to an amazing animal called the wolverine.
00:16I mean the name just sounds cool, but look at this little guy.
00:19Now right now you're looking at Sid, he's our male here at the zoo, and look at how playful he is.
00:24He's just happy to be outside enjoying the creek there, not to mention his favorite toy, a stick, who doesn't love a good stick.
00:32Now wolverines are pretty special because they're found way up in the mountains around the northern part of the world, but they're really well built for that cold weather.
00:40First of all they've got these giant feet that act as snow shoes on top of the snow, they've got an incredible set of teeth that allow them to eat a lot of meat.
00:49And they've got a really special tooth inside that skull that's actually facing the inside of their mouth, and that allows them to eat frozen meat.
00:57So they can find a dead animal on top of a mountain and start eating it even if it's frozen solid, how amazing is that?
01:04Now on top of that, wolverines, even though they look cute and small, they are fierce animals, probably one of the fiercest in the world.
01:11In fact, this little guy, often called a bear cat, believe it or not, can scare a grizzly bear off a dead animal.
01:19So there might be a bear eating an animal, wolverines going to come up and scare that bear away.
01:24On top of that wolverine, they can also take down a full grown moose and an elk all by themselves for a tasty dinnertime snack.
01:32That's pretty amazing when you're looking at an animal that's only, believe it or not, 30 plus pounds.
