00:00I think that Mahomes' recovery is going to be good.
00:02We are at the level now where our surgical technique is excellent,
00:05the rehabilitation is excellent,
00:07and these players have access to the world's greatest rehabilitation.
00:11You know, they start day one moving, strengthening their quad,
00:14eliminating the swelling inside their knee.
00:16So I'm an optimist when it comes to professional athletes
00:19getting back out there to play.
00:20Nobody knows what they're going to be at when all is said and done.
00:23It could be 100%. It could be 110%.
00:26It could be 90%. It could be 70%.
00:28We just have to rely that the treatment team
00:31and everybody on board is going to do the right thing,
00:34and these guys are going to put their all into their recovery,
00:37which I have no doubt,
00:39and I look forward to seeing them on the field next season.
00:42When a non-pro athlete comes into your office with an ACL tear,
00:47what steps do you take with the patient to get them back to 100%?
00:51We treat every patient like they are an elite athlete
00:54because we want them to return to everything that they enjoy doing
00:57with no pain, no swelling, no instability, and no apprehension,
01:01and the feeling that their knee is going to be completely stable.
01:03So for us, it's important to treat them like you would
01:06the 17-year-old athlete who tore their ACL
01:08that's looking to get back to football or basketball or baseball.
01:11If the patient ultimately decides that surgery is for them,
01:14then we treat them the same way.
01:15We give them a good new ACL.
01:17We start physical therapy and rehabilitation immediately,
01:20and we work with the patient every step of the way
01:22to get them exactly where they want to be when they want to be there.
