Russia rejects compromise on occupied Ukraine regions, Kremlin says

Ukraine’s president said that following the Berlin talks, the US delegation will now proceed to discussions with Russia, but it is unclear whether Washington envoys convince Moscow to stop its war and accept the draft plan.

00:00Russia will not accept any compromise regarding the occupied territories of Ukraine, the country's deputy foreign minister said on Tuesday.
00:10He said Moscow has not scaled back its demands and wants to retain control of five Ukrainian regions, these being Crimea, Donetsk, Luansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson.
00:23Aside from the annexed Crimea and all of the Luansk region, Russia does not control the entirety of any of the other three areas of Ukraine.
00:32In Zaporizhzhia and Kherson, Moscow forces do not have control of the regional capitals either.
00:38The Kremlin also said on Tuesday that Russia is unlikely to participate in any possible Christmas truce.
00:45Following the Ukraine-U.S. talks in Berlin, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said significant progress had been made.
00:53Zelensky said that Trump's team had, quote, heard of Ukraine's and Kiev's positions, which they will now present to Russia.
