On December 11, 2025, Ukraine launched the most massive and wide-reaching drone and missile strike of the entire war. Nearly 300 kamikaze drones and cruise missiles hit targets across central and western Russia—over 2,000 kilometers of airspace violated. Five major oil refineries were set ablaze, a Lukoil offshore rig in the Caspian Sea was struck for the first time, and four Russian airfields were attacked. Over 100 drones even targeted Moscow, forcing a shutdown of all four of its airports.

This is Ukraine’s boldest move yet—and it signals a dramatic escalation.
