00:00It's Ally from Hollywood Life. I'm so excited to be going live today with actress Beth Behrs.
00:08She has a really cool partnership for Earth Day and it's with Schick.
00:14You might know it for your razors, a bunch of other things that they make.
00:20And they are really making an effort to be Earth-friendly.
00:24So let's get ready.
00:27Yes, there we go.
00:30Hi.
00:31Hello, Beth. I'm sorry. Technology.
00:34I didn't know if I did it wrong, too. I'm not very good at these lives.
00:38I've only done like two and I never know how to ask to join.
00:43Don't worry. Honestly, you did it perfectly. I'm going to blame Instagram for that one.
00:47Let's blame Instagram for everything.
00:49Yeah, we're going to blame Instagram.
00:51Happy Earth Day, Beth.
00:54Happy Earth Day.
00:55I'm so happy it's Earth Day. I just got off my horse.
00:59The best way to spend Earth Day and nature.
01:03And yeah, it's awesome.
01:04Oh my gosh. It's a beautiful day here in New York City, finally.
01:08So I've been enjoying some outside time myself, which is so nice.
01:13Now, just to kick this off, Beth, tell me a little bit about your partnership with Schick
01:18and why this just made so much sense for you with your personal brand to join up with them.
01:25Yeah. Well, it's just, you know, all of us have this green guilt.
01:30I feel like we know we should be doing more.
01:32We all want to be doing more, but we don't know how, especially when a lot of things cost money
01:38and time and it's hard to figure out something you can do, you know, weekly.
01:43And so Schick now has this bamboo razor, which is, you know, there's renewable bamboo.
01:50It's 100% sustainable plant-based packaging.
01:52And it's something that, as women especially, we use weekly.
01:56So it's a really easy swap.
01:58Like, it's a really easy go green swap.
02:00And I've been looking recently for just small things.
02:03You know, I compost.
02:04I keep a little, you know, pin on my kitchen counter.
02:08And I compost.
02:09And we try to be as plastic-free as possible in the house.
02:12You know, the things that most of us do, switching out your floss to have no plastic floss.
02:16You know, those daily things you can do.
02:18And just anything, because nature is, like, my sanctuary.
02:23So, you know, we want to support and help as much as we all can.
02:27And this is an easy thing to do.
02:30Exactly.
02:31I think that you're so right that so many people, myself included, like, don't really know where to begin.
02:37Like, you want to do better.
02:39But you're like, well, I don't necessarily know how to compost.
02:43Or I don't know, you know, what to do.
02:46So, what's your recommendation for people who do want to get involved but don't necessarily know where to start?
02:52Well, definitely swapping out razors.
02:54I mean, that's, like, a really simple thing you do with this chick bamboo.
02:57But also, you know, something everyone can do, even in New York City, planting on a balcony or a window a little pollinator garden to help the bees and the butterflies and the birds.
03:10It's, you know, wherever you have space, planting a garden, you can go get seeds for less than a dollar or two.
03:16It's a very easy, affordable thing to do.
03:20And even in New York City, you know, this is a little bit more of time.
03:24But composting is, you can do it under your sink.
03:27I mean, there's really easy little bins you can buy on.
03:32You can Google them and find one that fits in your price range.
03:35But you can do that.
03:37And then just making swaps.
03:39You know, we all know the grocery, reusable grocery bags, reusable vegetable and fruit bags.
03:45That's, like, a one-time investment that then helps so much.
03:48Yeah, those things.
03:51I especially love the garden element just because it's not only good for Mother Earth, but it's really good for your mental health to put your hands in soil.
03:59Like, there's actual antidepressant, like, qualities in putting your hands in dirt.
04:05Oh, I love that.
04:06So whether you're, you know, you're not only are you helping the earth and the pollinators, but you're also helping yourself.
04:13And I'm a big advocate for mental health and self-care and all of that as well.
04:17So that's another just easy thing anybody can do.
04:22Definitely.
04:22I feel like I just had, when you said that, like, a memory back to my childhood of, like, planting with my mom.
04:28Like, I haven't thought about that in so long.
04:30Like, I kind of forgot about that.
04:32But right when you said that, I was like, wait, yes, like, fingers in the dirt.
04:35I get that.
04:37Yeah.
04:37And it's something, like, with, you know, even in New York City, I know there's community gardens, too.
04:43Or there's a lot of nonprofits, like, if you don't have access to a balcony space outdoors, which a lot of people don't, there's so many volunteer opportunities, just in general.
04:52I mean, there's, at my horse barn, you know, people can volunteer to work with animals.
04:57Even if they can't have the animals in their yard, they can work with them every week.
05:00And that's something that gives back, too, as well, to the earth.
05:04So volunteer opportunities in the garden is another great, easy way.
05:08Definitely.
05:08Yes.
05:09I know if any New Yorkers are listening, Green NYC, they're the ones that put on the farmer markets.
05:13They're fabulous.
05:15Awesome.
05:16Definitely.
05:17Well, I love that.
05:18I know Schick, when they sent me my bamboo razor, they also sent me a recycling bin for my apartment, which I've been really using.
05:26Like, that's been something to give me little small swaps.
05:29And the razor's really good, huh?
05:31Oh, yeah.
05:32Like, it's actually, like, it's super chic-looking, too, which is kind of nice with the bamboo.
05:37But the way it, like, bends, because it has the bamboo, it's actually been, like, now I'm, like, oh, my gosh, like, how did I not use this before?
05:43And it's so light.
05:44It's so light.
05:46Yes.
05:46I mean, it's a great swap, like an up-swap.
05:49It's an up-swap.
05:50It'll, like, make your bathroom look chiquer, too.
05:53So, like, not that that's as important as going green, but.
05:56Totally.
05:57Totally.
05:58Now, I saw, Beth, that you were recently asked if you would reprise your role of Caroline from Two Broke Girls.
06:06Have you had the chance to discuss that with Kat about making something like that happen?
06:11We haven't ever actually discussed the, like, that actually happening, but we always talk about how we never got a good buy.
06:18They sort of canceled us.
06:20Nobody was expecting it, including the writers.
06:22So, we never got to sort of see what happened to the girls, which was kind of a bummer, because a lot of shows know they have an end to them.
06:31Right.
06:31And so, you can see, like, This Is Us is ending Black-ish is ending, you know, they actually get the chance to sort of go out on what they would want to leave the audience with.
06:39So, yeah, we haven't actually, like, I mean, she's on a show, I'm on a show, we're both busy.
06:43But it would be cool to know what happened to those girls.
06:47I hope they're very rich.
06:49Very rich.
06:49Oh, yeah.
06:50Two rich girls.
06:51I love it.
06:51Two rich girls.
06:52That would be my dream, if that's what the movie or whatever it was.
06:56It would be so fun to see them be rich for once.
06:58It would be so funny.
06:59Definitely.
07:00Do you, what would you think that they would be doing?
07:03I mean, obviously hoping that they're making a ton of money, but where did you see it going, if, had it not ended?
07:10I feel like maybe their dessert, you know, their whole thing got into, like, a national franchise, like, sort of like sprinkles cupcakes, you know, where they're everywhere.
07:22And so, then they're just, like, living their best life in New York City.
07:25Caroline probably got another horse or two, maybe, potentially, that doesn't have to live in a backyard, that could actually live in, like, outdoor, like, pasture.
07:35And, you know, Max living her best life, doing whatever she wants, it would be fun.
07:40It would be really fun to see them rich.
07:42I feel like Caroline would be, like, TikTok famous, kind of.
07:46That's hilarious.
07:47Or Max.
07:48I could see Max kind of being, like, a hilarious TikTok famous.
07:52That's really funny.
07:53Yeah.
07:53See, there's so many options.
07:54It was almost five years ago now it ended?
07:57I can't believe.
07:58I know.
07:59No, four?
08:00I'm trying to think.
08:00It was, this feels like it was a long time ago.
08:02So, it's so crazy.
08:05And you've been doing sitcom, you know, for so long now, with it now you're on The Neighborhood.
08:11What is it about sitcom that you really love and has kind of kept you in that arena?
08:17I mean, I love comedy, just in general.
08:19I love physical comedy.
08:20And, you know, from I Love Lucy, The Carol Burnett Show, like, there's something about the live audience element.
08:26And physical comedy.
08:28And I come from the theater.
08:29So, I love that.
08:30I mean, obviously with COVID, we haven't had a live audience in a little while.
08:34It's kind of a bummer.
08:35But I'm sure once the pandemic is beyond us that it'll go back to that.
08:40So, I love that.
08:41And I just, I love to laugh all day.
08:43I love laughing with my cast all day.
08:45And, yeah, it's an incredible way to work, go to work every day.
08:49Definitely.
08:50Like, getting that live feedback from an audience.
08:52I mean, like you said, from the theater world, that's exactly what you're kind of riffing off of.
08:57Absolutely.
08:58The energy and to hear in real time if the joke works.
09:00Or if it doesn't, being able to fix it on the fly is fun, too.
09:05So, yeah.
09:08Is there any other genre that you'd like to test out and, like, foray into?
09:13Yeah.
09:14I've always had this dream of, like, I really would love to do, like, a variety show or a late night show.
09:21Kind of, like, Jordan or Fallon.
09:22Like, I'd love to be able to do, like, sketches and sing and dance and kind of take the live audience, take my theater background, take my love of, like, the Carol Burnett show and turn it into something, like, real.
09:34Like, that would be amazing someday.
09:36That is a great goal.
09:38That's, like, such a good.
09:39Keep manifesting that because that's amazing.
09:42Yes.
09:43I love it.
09:44Totally will.
09:45And something I also love is your online banter with Blake Lively.
09:51I think it's so fun.
09:52You know, the two broke girls, the gossip girl, that Jeopardy question that that guy answered.
09:58That's hilarious.
10:00Have you guys gotten to meet in real life?
10:03No.
10:04No.
10:04I'm obviously such a fan, especially of her whole, like, baking endeavors.
10:09Because I'm, like, sort of a new baker.
10:11I mean, I've always liked it, but I'm, like, really, now that I have a little time off from work, I'm, like, really into it.
10:17And I'm not very good artistically.
10:19Like, it tastes good, but I'm not good at, like, I've never been, like, good at art.
10:24Yeah.
10:24Yeah.
10:24I can sing and dance.
10:26I can't bake very well.
10:27Or, I mean, I can't decorate very well.
10:29So I'd like to get better at that.
10:30But, yeah, she's got the best, as we know, baking everything, you know?
10:34Yes.
10:35Oh, my gosh.
10:35Well, as my mom would say with that, you're good at a lot of things, but that might just not be one of them.
10:40Not just, yeah.
10:41That's not my core thing.
10:42Not yet.
10:42At the moment.
10:44I'm working on it.
10:45But I will never be a Great British Baking Show contestant, probably.
10:48Oh, my gosh.
10:49I would love to be a Great British Breakoff contestant, and I'm not good at it either.
10:54Just to, like, hang out with those people and the judges.
10:57They're so nice.
10:58I know.
10:58I just want to, like, see Paul Hollywood in person.
11:00Me, too.
11:01Paul Hollywood.
11:02And Prue.
11:02And Prue.
11:03I love Prue on Instagram.
11:04I love her.
11:05Yeah.
11:05Her outfits.
11:06Her spectacles.
11:07Her glasses.
11:08She's so chic.
11:09I know.
11:09I love her so much.
11:11I need another season of that to come up.
11:13I think it will.
11:14It usually comes around Christmas, which I kind of like for us.
11:16Yeah.
11:16It feels like baking and watching Great British Baking in front of a fire and, like, getting ready for the holidays.
11:23Totally.
11:24Totally.
11:24Well, Beth, is there anything else that you have coming up that you wanted to chat about?
11:30Season five, The Neighborhood.
11:31We're coming back, but we're still on.
11:33We're wrapped for the season, so it feels like we're done.
11:35But we actually have the finale coming up.
11:37We have some really incredible guest stars.
11:39We just like Tracy Morgan.
11:40But our finale has, like, one of the greatest singers of all time.
11:44I'm not allowed to reveal who.
11:45But, like, legend.
11:47And I got to maybe sing with her on the show.
11:49So I just wanted to tease that on The Neighborhood.
11:52Oh, my gosh.
11:53Coming up.
11:53I think it comes up in May.
11:55So check it out, 8 p.m. on CBS.
11:58Monday night.
11:58Oh, my gosh.
11:59That sounds amazing.
12:01And we can't wait to see that.
12:03That sounds, I mean, just, like, to be able to work with somebody.
12:06I mean, I don't know who it is, but I'm sure they're amazing.
12:09She's a good one.
12:10That's what I'll say.
12:10So definitely check that out.
12:12We will certainly be tuning in next.
12:14Well, thank you so much for joining us today.
12:16Thanks for giving us those great tips about upswapping.
12:20I like to call it upswapping.
12:22Upswapping.
12:23That's really good.
12:24I love that.
12:25Yeah.
12:25Yeah, to be a little bit more environmentally friendly.
12:28Friendly.
12:28Without the guilt.
12:29There are small things we can do and not feel overwhelmed that is really important,
12:34I think, especially on Earth Day.
12:36Amazing.
12:37Thank you so much again.
12:39Have a great rest of your Earth Day.
12:40Thank you for having me.
12:42Thank you, everybody.
12:43Bye, guys.
12:44Thanks for watching.
