Transcript
00:00Tell me about your character in Tomorrowland.
00:02What I can tell you, he's a very interesting, mysterious character.
00:07He's a man who's very invested in Tomorrowland.
00:10He wants to protect it to keep it what it is and to prevent people from destroying it.
00:15John Francis Walker, you are now harboring a fugitive element.
00:18Release your two-hour custody.
00:20You have one minute to comply.
00:23Would you consider yourself a bad guy?
00:26No, I wouldn't consider myself a bad guy.
00:28I think what is really interesting about this story is that Damon Lindelof,
00:32in a lot of stories today, our audiences are so smart,
00:35that it's just not your classic good guy, bad guy from the 80s.
00:39You know, the motivations are there.
00:41It gets deeper and more philosophical.
00:44In that Lindelof layer way.
00:49What do you want?
00:50I want you to take me to the place I saw when I touched this.
00:53What was the audition process like for this role?
00:59It was classic.
01:01They just gave me one scene, and it looked like I was maybe a cop or a police officer.
01:07And I thought, is that just it, though?
01:10So then I started discovering a few things, and when I found out that Damon Lindelof and Brad Bird were involved,
01:15I sort of thought, aha, I am a fan of Damon Lindelof, and knowing what he has done,
01:22Lost, Star Trek II, Prometheus, I just sort of thought he might have some themes that he's going to bring into this film as well.
01:31So I put together something that was perhaps a bit bolder than what they had given me,
01:36and that was basically it.
01:38I found out the next week, off tape, that I booked the part.
01:41So when you guys want to get into a movie with George Clooney, this is the preparation you need to take.
01:46So you know.
01:48All the people, why me?
01:49He thinks you can fix the future.
01:52You hit George Clooney over the head with something.
01:54How did you do this?
01:55I did my homework.
01:56Absolutely by mistake.
01:58I wasn't trying to do it at all, but it was just one of those things the director needed me to get right to a specific mark,
02:05right beside his temple, and he didn't even need to be there.
02:09He was just being there for me because it was an over-the-shoulder shot on me,
02:13so it was just the back of his head for that particular shot,
02:15and so it was just him being a giving actor and helping another actor out,
02:19and I was like, that's mad props to that.
02:21Hang on!
02:28You wanted to see Tomorrowland.
02:33Here it comes.
