00:00Breaking news that's coming in from the National Capital.
00:03Slight improvement has been seen in the smog today.
00:06Approaching northwestern wind speed likely to scatter the fog situation
00:10as well as the smog relief expected from fog in Delhi and the National Capital Region.
00:16Surface wind speed to improve the AQI marginally today is what we are given to understand.
00:22These are the latest updates that we are picking up on in terms of where the air quality index stands
00:26and there is expectations of it in fact improving a little which our colleague earlier had told us
00:32that when the wind speed indeed ends up increasing that's when there is some sort of expectation of a relief
00:38from this thick smog, the thick blanket of smog in fact that shrouds the NCR every morning during the winter season.
00:46It's a combination of both fog and the smoke in the atmosphere with the particulate matter having in fact
00:52risen in terms of quantity in the very atmosphere around the NCR.
00:57So right now the wind speeds are expected to pick up later in the day as well.
01:02In fact already this morning there was a slight improvement that could be seen in the very smog situation
01:09and this is the current place where it all stands.
01:13But let's also take you through all the details that's led to the current situation,
01:17what has been the situation so far as we speak.
01:20The national capital's air has been choking by the day and there is no denying that.
01:25As the overall AQI in Delhi remains in the very poor category even now,
01:29more than a dozen areas which include the likes of Anand Vihar, Okhla, Punjabi Bagh, Vazirpur
01:35have recorded AQI already in the severe category.
01:38Slight improvements in the smog were seen today.
01:41Early morning approaching northwestern wind speed is likely to scatter the fog-like situation in smog.
01:46The surface wind speed is to improve the AQI marginally as well.
01:49The Chief Minister Rekha Gupta in fact faced a frosty reception colder than Delhi's winter
01:54as she arrived at the Arun Jetli Stadium to felicitate the Argentine football icon Lionel Messi.
02:00So things in fact are populated to that very event as well.
02:06Videos now are viral on social media which shows spectators allegedly chanting AQI, AQI
02:12and booing the Chief Minister the moment she entered the very venue.
02:16The Ahmad Dmi party on the other hand too shared the clips of the crowd raising the AQI slogan
02:20mocking the government over Delhi's worsening air crisis.
02:24With the capital's AQI inching dangerously close to the 500 mark,
02:28the Delhi government has ordered online classes for students up to class 6.
02:32And it's not just pollution viewers that we're speaking of.
02:35Delhi is staring at a double trouble situation here.
02:38It's a cocktail between dense fog which has slashed the visibility,
02:43crippling flight operations as well along with the pollution that we've already been grappling with here.
02:49More than 200 flights were cancelled from Delhi on Monday itself, December 15 that is.
02:54And the situation is only going to get worse in the coming days with winter peaking
02:59and whenever the wind speed slows down.
03:01So that is the current situation that we are looking at at this given point.
03:31Delhi's air is not worth breathing, this is what you and I know for a while.
03:56But citizens of Delhi took this message to the chief minister directly.
04:03This has been reported at the stadium where the Messi tour, the GOAT tour was going on.
04:10When Messi entered Delhi and went to the stadium, he got a lot of applause.
04:15Along with him went the Delhi chief minister.
04:18Upon the arrival of the Delhi chief minister, we are now getting reports that massive booing took place.
04:25Of two kinds.
04:26One that has been confirmed to us by reporters on ground that there was Rekha Gupta high high slogans.
04:32Those were heard on the ground.
04:34Apart from that, now based on those social media videos, now lots of other videos have come online as well.
04:41Amati Party has taken it to the fore, also saying that AQI, AQI chants were heard.
