00:00In that trial, Ramirez's fascination with Satanism emerged.
00:05Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're examining those accused serial killers that have allegedly been in league with Satan.
00:11Little by little, the group will drift towards Satanism, adoration of the devil.
00:18Jonathan Celestino, the cross maniac.
00:21The spiritual and religious history of Brazil isn't without its dark side,
00:25an esoteric underbelly that could easily feed the desires of someone like Jonathan Celestino.
00:30This Brazilian serial killer became known as the cross maniac, as well as DogHell666,
00:36the latter of which was in reference to his profile on a Google-owned social media site known as Orkut.
00:41Celestino actually believed himself to be performing in the interest of God
00:44when he murdered three people in close succession back in 2008.
00:48Catalino Gardena, Lechicha Neves-Jolivera, and Gleis Kelly da Silva
00:53all fell to the cross maniac between July and October of that year,
00:56with their bodies being dumped in abandoned lots or cemeteries near the municipality of Hio Brilianchi.
01:02Temba Vilakazi, the railway killer.
01:05Sources differ as to how much an interest in Satanism permeated the murders committed by South African Temba Vilakazi
01:11back between the years of 2005 and 2012.
01:14The man known as Temba Vilakazi, the railway killer, left a trail of horror along the tracks.
01:21This is despite Vilakazi receiving tattoos on his forehead that read both Satanic and 666,
01:28the latter of which went on to become a moniker for Vilakazi,
01:31alongside another perhaps more infamous one, the railway killer.
01:35But beyond his crimes lies a warning.
01:38Spaces we think of as mundane can hide threats.
01:42No less than three victims are attributed to the railway killer's activity,
01:46with a number of other unsolved murders being tenuously linked to Vilakazi in a circumstantial context.
01:51The confirmed deaths were all of black men,
01:54while Vilakazi's methodology was vicious and often motivated by sexual violence.
01:59Peter Niers.
02:00Peter Niers' crimes were committed in the 16th century,
02:03so we'll likely never know how many of the alleged 544 victims can be legitimately tied to him.
02:09He became one of the most prolific and sadistic serial killers history has ever seen.
02:14Niers confessed to this astonishing amount under torture,
02:17although there remains little doubt that this German serial killer wasn't the nicest of men.
02:22The murder ballads and folktales that emerged during Niers' activity
02:25have led to his legend as the sort of occultist who engaged in black magic and cannibalism.
02:30They believed that Peter was a powerful, mystical being that could shapeshift
02:34and turn into logs and stones and various animals like cats, dogs and goats.
02:39The songs of his crimes read like the most morbid of bedtime stories,
02:43involving everything from infant sacrifice to satanic ritual.
02:46His execution was also most gruesome,
02:49having endured boiling oil and the Catherine wheel prior to being quartered alive.
02:53That was the horrific end to the story of Peter Niers.
02:56Sean Sellers.
02:57The execution of Sean Sellers in 1999 made history as the first in 30 years
03:02to be performed on someone convicted of a crime while under the age of 17.
03:06Sean Sellers, number 156641, was pronounced dead at 12.17 a.m.
03:14The execution has been carried out.
03:17Sellers actually claimed to be possessed by a demon when he murdered a local Circle K clerk in 1985,
03:22as well as his mother and stepfather in 1986.
03:25His case was just one example of the satanic panic that was rising during the cultural zeitgeist of the 1980s,
03:31since Sellers' defense initially attempted to blame the influence of Dungeons & Dragons for their clients' actions.
03:37The defense claimed diminished responsibility because of a teenage obsession with Satanism.
03:42It was a demon named Ezraite that reportedly guided Sean Sellers' actions as a teenager,
03:46although the convicted killer would eventually convert to Christianity while incarcerated.
03:51I didn't become a Christian because I was trying to escape penalty for what I did.
03:55I became a Christian because I hated who I was.
03:58I came to the point where I saw who I was, and I said, I will not be that anymore.
04:02I will never be that again.
04:05Robin Gecht and the Ripper Crew.
04:07Their merciless crime spree made headlines not only in the Chicagoland area, but across the United States.
04:12At 11.20 a.m., law enforcement responded to a call about a bad smell at a motel 25 miles outside the city.
04:22The Ripper Crew, led by Robin Gecht, were ultimately convicted of six murders,
04:26although their morbid legacy has been extended to include 18 total suspicions
04:30over the course of just over a year of deadly activity during the early 1980s.
04:34They were attacked and mutilated.
04:36Their victims were said to have been dismembered,
04:39with specific body parts utilized for satanic rituals supervised by Gecht.
04:43The Ripper Crew was eventually caught, however, with one member, Andrew Corcorellis,
04:47receiving the death penalty in 1999.
04:50Gecht, meanwhile, remains incarcerated at the time of this writing, as does Edward Spreitzer.
04:55Everybody thinks I'm a monster.
04:58Adolfo Constanzo.
05:00They were known as Los Narcos Santanicos, a gang that operated more like a cult,
05:05one that was headed by Cuban-American Adolfo Constanzo and his girlfriend Sara Aldrete.
05:10Constanzo's followers were said to have participated in black magic rituals and animal sacrifice,
05:15before eventually aligning themselves with Mexican drug cartels,
05:19as well as the corruptible elements present within that country's police force.
05:23Constanzo grew rich and powerful, and quickly became more than a priest for hire.
05:28Constanzo, Aldrete, and Los Narcos Santanicos didn't stop at killing animals, however,
05:33and would eventually turn their murderous attention to human beings, including American tourist Mark Kilroy.
05:39It's been said that Constanzo's cult was involved in organ harvesting during their late 80s period of activity,
05:44although their leader would eventually be shot by his associates during a standoff with police.
05:49Ritualized torture and the degree to which Constanzo enjoyed inflicting pain on his victims before killing them
05:55correspond, in my scale of evil, as some of the most heinous of crimes.
05:59Tomás Maldonado Cera, the Satanist
06:02The moniker of this Colombian serial killer was succinct and straight to the point.
06:06Tomás Maldonado Cera was known to the authorities, public and press,
06:10simply as the Satanist back during his era of activity between 2002 and 2018.
06:16Between 7 and 10 victims have been attributed to Cera during this time,
06:20bodies that were found in various states of mutilation,
06:23and with certain occult symbols carved into their flesh.
06:25Cera also seemed to target members of Colombia's LGBTQIA plus community.
06:30Although, this doesn't seem to have historically been the sole motivating factor in Cera's spree of assault and murder.
06:36Thankfully, that spree came to an end with the Satanist's arrest in 2019.
06:41Luis Garavito
06:42The crimes of Luis Garavito are the sort of nightmarish monstrosity that's difficult to believe could exist within our rational world.
06:48While playing with a Ouija board, Luis Garavito claims to have entered a state of psychosis.
06:55During this trance, he said the devil spoke to him and beckoned for his service.
07:00He was sometimes known as the Beast, a serial killer and necrophile with a reported victim list that spread into the hundreds,
07:07resulting in 142 convictions.
07:10Garavito repeated the cycle of abuse that was tragically inflicted upon him at a young age
07:14to victims throughout the countries of Colombia, Ecuador, and Venezuela.
07:18His behavior became increasingly prolific and disturbing,
07:21including a period during the 90s where Garavito claimed demonic influence shifted his modus operandi from abuse to murder.
07:28Blood sacrifices of innocent lives tried to satiate Luis Garavito's perverse and unholy hunger for evil.
07:34The Beasts of Satan
07:36If The Beasts of Satan sounds like the name of a heavy metal band, you're not actually far off from the truth.
07:41Mario Maccioni was active within Italy's metal scene, alongside one of his victims, Fabio Tolis.
07:47Usually my son speaks in a very confident manner.
07:50That night, it felt strange to me.
07:54He was hesitating, almost mumbling.
07:58I had the impression that someone was telling him what to say on the phone.
08:02This served to set the stage for what would become a headline-grabbing crime spree of metal, murder, and mayhem.
08:07Tolis and an acquaintance, Chiara Marino, were murdered by Maccioni's group of killers, the Beasts of Satan,
08:14who targeted their circle of friends for crimes inspired by the occult.
08:17Among the people tacking on to this group, we find Chiara Marino will be the only woman, in fact, in the Beasts of Satan.
08:24Mariangela Pezzotta, a former girlfriend of member Andrea Volpe, would also fall victim to their attacks.
08:30Meanwhile, members of the group, including Maccioni, have since been released from custody, speaking publicly to their time as criminals.
08:38Because for them, evil flows in their veins.
08:40It is part of their DNA.

08:56Richard Ramirez, The Night Stalker
09:00It's a voice and image that have become almost indelibly linked with 1980s true crime,
09:06an infamous satanically inspired serial killer that was said to be nothing less than, quote, pure evil.
09:12His killings were so sadistic and brutal that even experienced detectives were shocked.
09:16Richard Ramirez, also known as The Night Stalker,
09:20cultivated a public image of inverted pentagrams and occult-motivated rhetoric spouted off during many darkly memorable interviews.
09:26As far as Satan is concerned, I believe in a malevolent being.
09:32His description eludes me, but I have felt powers that are evil.
09:38Ramirez suffered an extraordinary amount of abuse as a child,
09:41trauma that would eventually contribute to The Night Stalker's Californian reign of terror of over 15 victims.
09:47He would be found guilty of all of the 43 charges levied against him,
09:51including both first- and second-degree murder,
09:54dying in custody while awaiting the death penalty in 2013.
09:58Night Stalker Richard Ramirez died at age 53.
