00:30Los Angeles, during that time, was the serial killer capital of the world.
00:34Unsolved murders.
00:35Our guy's done this before.
00:37Ed Westwick plays Kent, the serial killer we are introduced to this world.
00:41I'm working on a story.
00:42What's the story?
00:43All this.
00:44Uses young girls' ambitions to lure them into his trap.
00:48I was here once.
00:49People helped me out, so kill me.
00:52I like giving back.
00:53All right.
00:54And then he kills him.
00:56It was a very loud era.
00:58The problem with loudness is that some very dark, nefarious creatures can easily move behind the sound.
01:05I'd like to make a dedication.
01:06During the course of our pilot, he meets a young woman named Betty.
01:09Everybody's looking for love, right?
01:11I mean, that's the Sunset Strip, except me for who I am.
01:14You see what I'm seeing?
01:15That's so true.
01:17They form this unusual connection, because underneath it all, she's a sociopath, too.
01:22Woo-hoo!
01:23Do you like kids?
01:24I absolutely love children.
01:26The juxtaposition between these two characters who are able to show love, not only to each other, but to young children.
01:32Hey, Mary.
01:33Hi.
01:34You're a lifesaver, Kent.
01:35And then, on the other side of that, they couldn't be more devious and couldn't be darker.
01:40And together, they form this kind of Bonnie and Clyde-like serial killer duo.
01:45What makes this show different is that we give equal time to the cops and their families, and equal time to the killers that are working the strip.
01:52We follow an ensemble cast of characters as this serial killer is drawing everybody into his world.
02:02It really looks at the glamour of it all, and then it turns it around and looks at what's underneath, the darkness beneath.
02:09It's balancing that dark subject matter with enough of the glitz and enough of the fun that was going on at the time.
02:15It's rock and roll, it's frightening, it's emotional, it's really sexy.
02:23I think this show is a really bold show for ABC to make.
02:28They're really taking a chance, a risk, and it's very exciting to be a part of that.
